The plan was fake the wedding, save her career. Then she met the best man.
Vivian Whitlock’s social media empire is about to crumble. She’s closing in on thirty, and her fans are moving on to their ‘weddings and babies’ era. About to be dropped by her management team, she pretends she and her secret boyfriend are ready to take the plunge.
There’s just one he doesn’t exist.
Enter Dominic James, a charismatic actor working at the idyllic Paradise Bay Resort. He’s got Broadway dreams and the perfect cover story. The two strike a deal—he’ll play her doting fiancé, and she’ll launch him into New York stardom.
But Vivian’s picture-perfect plan takes an unexpected turn when she moves into the beachside bungalow Dominic shares with his brother, Ben—an intense, fiercely-devoted single dad with no time for romance.
Surrounded by swaying palms, ocean breezes, and a precocious five-year-old who steals her heart, Vivian starts to wonder if she’s been chasing the wrong dream all along.
Is she about to lose everything she built—or finally find something that lasts?
My Big Fat Beach Wedding is a STAND-ALONE laugh-out-loud, banter-filled tale of two people who can’t fall in love but do anyway. It’s the perfect heartwarming, feel-good escape from the real world.

This was a love triangle unlike any I’ve ever seen before. Mix in a fake relationship and some of our favorite Paradise Bay regulars and this was the most outlandish 3-ring circus I’ve ever laughed my behind off over. I kind of don’t even know how to explain Vivian’s predicament. Caught between the truth and a face-saving lie, and now she needs a plan to rescue her business from total destruction. Enter the James brothers. Both single. Both handsome. One wants to help, the other not so much. You have to read this to see how the author was able to untangle this Gordian knot and find Happy Ever Afters for them all. I received a complimentary copy of this book through Booksprout.
Lifestyle influencer, Vivian, has found herself in a mess of her own social media making. She created a fake boyfriend to save her from losing followers. But now her audience is starting not to believe her and want to see this boyfriend. What to do? Tell her audience she is engaged and getting married soon! Oh boy.
Vivian meets Dominic and he agrees to her plan so he can move to NYC. He is gay and has no interest in Vivian. The problem is…she meets Dominic’s brother, Ben, and falls in love with him. What’s a girl to do?
This is an enjoyable romcom filled with great banter and characters. Five year old Henry is so cute, too!
This book is part of the Paradise Bay series, but this closed door romance can definitely be read and enjoyed as a standalone.
Thank you to the author for an advanced readers copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I actually weirdly loved a lot about this story and it was an easy read as a result but removed a star for the lowkey use of AI (at the very end like damn! It was on route to be a lower end 3 stars) + the fact that despite liking Ben and Vivian at first, their relationship quickly felt rushed and extremely underdeveloped (almost like the timeline should’ve been longer? Then we could’ve learned just a little bit more about both of them?)
Also, didn’t feel this needed to end in a marriage like at all and I skimmed the last 20% but like extra star for adorable Henry + Paige who if I was her, at the end of the story I would’ve been like “okay sooo what am i, chopped liver?”
finally I do have to complain whenever a story could’ve been better improved with just a bit of open doorness bc their chemistry felt very tame and like clinical ? but regardless, I loved the tropes that were employed in this and it had some really lovely moments + I did immediately love Vivian even though I wished we got a bit more from her
thank you so much to netgalley and gretz corp for this arc to review!

Melanie has given us yet another superb brilliant story Vivian is an influencer who has been deceiving her viewers with a fake boyfriend just to build her rating. Now it's being called out as fake so suddenly she announces that they will be married shortly. What has she done, she's no boyfriend and needs to find one fast. Ben suddenly finds himself bringing up his five years old son with the help of his brother. He doesn't need any distractions or any sort of romance his son is his No. 1 priority. When Dominic suddenly appears with a woman who he's supposed to be marrying life becomes complicated. This is another hilarious funny book that just makes you keep turning the pages. Can Vivian save her media success or will she find something she wasn't ready for. The characters are just perfect with just the right amount of angst sass and the unexpected.
My big fat beach wedding was super cute and an enjoyable beach/summer read. I haven’t read Tide Together yet, so the characters were all new to me, but I always love returning to the famed resort / Caribbean locations Melanie has written about it so many of her romcoms.
MBFBW was true to Melanie’s signature voice and comedic storytelling, and I thought the influencer romance and pressure was unique and relevant for 2025. I found Vivian to be one of the less relatable and likeable FMCs for me personally, but I loved Ben, and overall really enjoyed the story!
Thanks Melanie Summers for the arc. All thoughts and opinions are mine! ☺️🏖️☀️
Influencer Vivian’s fake engagement is supposed to save her career, not complicate her love life! When actor Dominic agrees to play her fiancé, she doesn’t expect to fall for his brooding brother, Ben—a single dad who might just be the real thing. Will Vivian finally find love beyond the likes and follows?
This novel is hilarious and the plot a little zany—but at the same time, the story is deeply emotional with well-drawn and relatable characters. I love the found-family aspects. It’s a heart-warming and feel-good book.
Thanks, Booksprout, for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.
Vivian needs a husband pronto to keep her social medial followers and career. Turns out the perfect man for her exist, even if he and his fiancée’s brother. Ben’s life is dedicated to his five years old son and his passion for building playhouses. His brother Dominic had helped him raise his son but now’s need to follow his dream to become an actor. Vivian and Dominic’s wedding is going through if she and Ben don’t find a way to be brave and face their real feelings. Sweet, funny and full of big emotions and feelings. Melanie at her best.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
What a sweet treat this story was! I have loved each installment in the Paradise Bay series and this book was a standout. Don’t worry if you haven’t read any of this series yet because each book can be read as a standalone. In this story, a desperate social media influencer changes the course of her life with one small lie that snowballs! I loved the chemistry between Vivian and Ben. In addition to romance, Melanie Summers examines friendship, family, and how the choices we make impact our life in such a fun way with these characters. I highly recommend this closed door romance.
I’ve loved all of the PARADISE BAY SERIES books, but this was my favorite! I was lucky to have access to an ARC copy and just finished it in two days (would have been one, but was very busy with non-reading stuff)! A sweet, sweet story that I wanted to continue to find out what happens next. No spoilers, but if you are looking for a great, light romantic read (just in time for summer), I encourage you to pick up this book!
Absolutely loved Ben and Vivian! A great addition to the series but could be read as a fun beach stand alone rom-com. The story gives us an interesting inside look at the ups and downs of the life of a social media influencer. Melanie Summers knows how to make the reader feel like they’re right there in the Benavente Is lands along with the characters that live there. (Or at least have her readers think about relocating to those great imaginary islands)!
I'm very committed to " finishing what you start". So I finished this book . The characters have major flaws. The main female character is extremely immature and in reality could use counseling. In real life most people who parent do the best the best they can and most people don't have " TV fairytale " perfect families. Every real life person is very unique and different from other people. That's why no one truely thinks or acts exactly the same. Because people are unique individuals relationships are stressful. Part of being an adult is (1) accepting and recognizing who you are as an individual. (2) Evaluate your actions and inaction (3) Take responsibility for your own actions (4) Stop blaming others for your failure (5) As objectively as possible evaluate your friends and family members and move on with your life! The book Drags. I read it on my Kindle and 70% of the way through the book the plot still hasn't advanced much because the main character wasn't following any of the steps to be a fully functional adult person. The book spent to much time rehashing . It felt like I was getting beaten by all the whiney rehash and self victimized blather.."Oh poor me my Dad abandoned me and my mom. Oh poor me my mom chose wrong in love, got bitter and raised me to be an individual capable of getting a marketing degree and financially supporting myself." Good grief.
The main character decided to be "social media influencer marketer" instead of a traditional marketing job. So what? She wasn't then forced to lie continue to lie add more lies . Even so the book could have rallied and had a very cute book but unfortunately it continues with the " poor me" undertones way past where it should have stopped so this reader really did not care about the main character especially when she couldn't work up the backbone to call off her fake wedding after news from her enemy hit. In real life her actions would have caused real harm to her fake groom and his family. I did read to the end. The ending was totally ridiculous but it's fiction so it is HEA of course. Seriously I don't recommend this book.
This book is a complete joy to read with so many laugh out loud moments. This is the first time I have read a book by Melanie Summers and I am hooked. My Big Fat Beach Wedding has everything I look for in a rom-com story. It is lighthearted, easy to read, and full of moments that truly had me laughing. But beyond that there are deep relationships, layered characters, and the characters go through struggles.
Vivian has been building her brand, but is now at a point where she needs to show more than tell. In need of a fake relationship to bolster ratings and make her followers believe she is happy and in love, she isn’t sure where to turn. Fortunately, she finds Dominic. An actor who agrees to help her out in exchange for her helping him gain popularity and helping his career. Now they are off to a beach resort to film their love for all to see. However, Vivian isn’t prepared for Dominic’s brother and the very real feelings she begins to develop for him instead. Ben isn’t looking for love. He is busy raising his five year old and creating a good life for them.
When his brother tells him he is getting married, he isn’t ready for his world getting turned upside down. Now he’s met Vivian and she is everywhere. As he gets to know his brother’s fiance, he is feeling guilty about the feelings he is beginning to have towards her. As they both keep their feelings hidden, will someone take a leap of faith?
Again a fun, enjoyable read filled with moments of sizzling chemistry, laugh out loud moments, and the constant desire for our two MCs to just be honest with each other. Melanie is a talented author who has mastered writing easy to love characters but still brings depth and emotion to her stories. She is definitely an author I will be reading more of!
As always, review any author notes before reading.
What to Expect: 🌴Single Dad MMC 🌊Unavoidable Proximity 🌴Influencer FMC 🌊Opposites Attract 🌴Witty Banter 🌊Adorable 5 Year Old
This is my first time in this small island world and I'm sold. It was the perfect rom-com to make you laugh out loud and swoon and even bite all your finger nails with some angst along the way. The characters are well written, are relatable and flawed, but that makes them more aproachable, in my oppinion.
Vivian lives in a world of appearences, of other people's oppinions and how she sells her image to the world. When that gets compromised and she is at risk of losing all she worked for she panics and starts a little white lie that somewhere down the road comes an bites her in the ass. She has to get a husband and soon, or her career as an influencer is over. She finds one in an inconventional way, but a fake marriage counts as a marriage right? Ben is a hard working single dad, who is cautious, reliable and values safety. Is priority is his son, and he does all in his power to make him happy, even if it means putting all he dreamed behind. He is caring and loving even if with a touch of grumpiness. When he finds that his brother is fake marrying Vivian he tries to get them to back of and drop that decision. But sometimes when you can't win you better join them, so he learns to accept the whole situation, as unconventional as it is.
But, along the way, Vivian starts to see Ben as more than her brother-in-law, and Ben wishes he was the one in his brother's place. Can they put every feeling aside and go on whth the show? Will they admit they want each oner and their chance at love? Read this one and find out!
Benjamin James, 25, has his brother, Dominic, living with him right now, They awaken early one morning to find a baby on the doorstep with a note that the baby’s father is Benjamin and his name is Henry. Five years later, and Henry is an adorable little boy with round red glasses and ready for Kindergarten. Benjamin works as a contractor and Dominic, who is gay, works at night entertaining guests at a luxury resort.
Vivian Whitlock is staying at a resort with her friend Paige trying to keep Vivian’s job as an influencer from crashing. Vivian has been saying for some time now that she has a wealthy boyfriend who treats her very well. However, her followers are starting to not believe her as they have not seen a picture of him. They’re right. He is a myth and now Vivian has to find someone ASAP to fit the bill. That’s when Dominic overhears their conversation and volunteers. Now, Vivian is moving in with Dominic and Benjamin is not happy about that. But before long, Henry is falling in love with Vivian and Benjamin finds himself drawn to her as well.
As wedding plans are made the Vivian’s followers increase with excitement about the nuptials, Benjamin realizes that he is truly in love with her and Vivian returns his feelings. How can Vivian and Dominic go through with the wedding now?
There are a lot of laughs and a lot of honest emotions in this book. I loved all of it and look forward to reading more books by this author. Enjoy!
Copy provided by NetGalley in exchange for a fair and honest review.
Did I ever fall hard for this book, hard to put down is an understatement. It was glorious to be back in Paradise Bay. I felt so bad for Vivi, how her job as an influencer became one big problem after another. I loved her friendship with Paige, and if you haven't read Tide Together, go treat yourself. Then we have Ben who became an insta-dad with no clue and his brother who stood by him to help him navigate those early days and continues to do so, while working as an entertainer at the Resort. When Vic overhears Paige and Vivi talking at the bar one night, he immediately volunteers his services. Seriously. Ben is beyond upset, Henry his son takes an immediate like to Vivi and Ben and Viv come to a tenuous truce, tested many times over. Seriously though, when I read reviewers write "swoon worthy" I never got that whole thing, but for the first time actually totally swooned reading this one, no spoiler on the scene, and not sure how it's possible to swoon while sprawled on my bed reading but it happened. This story really has it all, you'll be annoyed, laugh, throughly entertained and there's a wee bit of spice in this that just brings it complete. You'll probably swoon too. You've done it again Mel, you had me a chocolate chip popcorn and I happily followed. Highly recommend, it's a beauty.
1.5 stars. The 5 star reviews are lies. Vivian is off putting in this. I don’t connect with the influencers. I don’t particularly care for influencers in reality. So reading about Vivian being an influencer and lying is par for the cringe and annoying course. Oh I am so shocked she is a liar. Because influencers don’t lie. Oh and a hypocrite….because she hates liars. I made it half way or something and skipped to the third to last chapter and oh ho I missed nothing. Predictable. Everyone loves, Henry, the 5 yr old in this. I dislike kids as crutches in a story/plot. So much blabbering about making and eating pancakes and he just loves Vivian. Oh and he is just the most amazing precious child. Aw sweet little cherubs. Barf. Also is the kid what you’re supposed to love in a romance story? That aspect is what you enjoyed the most? The best character? Sad. Dude makes kids supposedly epic playhouse for kids…on an island. I can’t even imagine how expensive this would be to turn into a business outside of the one island. Shipping costs/freight, ahem and tariffs, alone would bankrupt him. How much to get building materials to the island? Expensive? The plausibility of this island business seems implausible. I get these are fiction romance stories. Suspend belief, but come on a dash of actual reality would be welcome.

Thank you to NetGalley and Xpresso Book Tours for the chance to read My Big Fat Beach Wedding! I am always to thankful to read and provide my honest feedback. This book has a fun vibe and promising setup, but it didn’t quite live up to its potential for me. The the characters felt a bit flat, and the love story came off more staged than real.
Vivian is an influencer on the edge of irrelevance and fakes an engagement to stay relevant. She ends up enlisting a charming resort actor to play the part. It’s a classic rom-com with a modern twist, and there’s a lot to like here: the setting, the son, the mom, and some funny moments.
However, the book struggles to make its characters feel real, at least for me personally. Vivian, though ambitious and vulnerable on paper, never fully came to life for me. Her relationship with Ben seemed rushed also. The connection between Vivian and Ben sparks suddenly and without enough buildup to make their chemistry strong. The love story, while sweet in moments, needed more development.
Overall, this was a quick and enjoyable read with a lot of potential. With more character development and a slower burn romance, it could’ve been a standout. If you want a quick read with a quick love story, you will enjoy this one!
Thank you to NetGalley and Gretz Corp for providing this book, with my honest review below.
My Big Fat Beach Wedding reminded why I love Melanie Summers and her Paradise Bay series, as these stories are easy to slip right into. In this one, reliably, two good hearted characters run into a few shenanigans on the way to a happy ending but everyone is so wholesome and the events so entertaining that by the end I wish it had continued!
In My Big Fat Beach Wedding, Vivian, and influencer, has to find a groom stat or else lose her sponsors as her subscribers and a competing influencer call her out on her made up boyfriend’s existence. Now Vivian made up this boyfriend to stay connected to her subscribers and not lose sponsors so of course she doubles down and says they’re getting married. Enter Dominic, who is both gay and willing to help Vivian out as she can be his entree to Broadway. Dominic comes with a brother, Ben, and adorable nephew, Henry, and Vivian quickly discovers that Ben is the one she wants to be with - but what would that do to the highly complicated lie she’s spun?
I love the setting of these books and Vivian and Ben’s story was as great as the ones preceding it. Both entertaining and highly heartwarming, I really can’t wait for the next!
My Big Fat Beach Wedding is the eighth book in the PARADISE BAY SERIES. If you have read any of the previous books in this series then you know what to expect and this book delivers on all the promises. The story balances romance, laugh out loud moments, a fake relationship, the whole social media craziness, and one sweet little girl. It all starts when Vivian Whitlock is about to have her world implode. She has built a successful career as a social media influencer but this has meant her personal life is non-existent. She has to quickly pivot in order to keep everything she has built. The only way to do this is to get a "fiance" quickly and that will bring a whole other set of issues that may just implode her world anyway. This book is a perfect lite read that is full of entertaining moments, characters and of course a lot of banter and heart. I would RECOMMEND this book to other readers, whether you are already a fan of Melanie Summers or just want a summer afternoon reading session.
Vivian is an influencer who lied about a boyfriend to keep her viewers interested but when her archenemy called her out on the lie she needed to up the game and decided to make fake boyfriend a fake fiancé. Everything falls into place when Dominic overhears and decides to help her in her dilemma. You would think this was meant to be until she meets his brother and his adorable son. Things get complicated when you bring family and friends in the mix. What a wonderful book. With great banter and chemistry. The relationship is not instant and develops as Vivian and Ben spend time together with little Henry being the icing on the cake. Vivian has to decide if it’s worth losing all her followers for her Happily Ever After. Melanie delivers us another laugh out loud romantic comedy from Paradise Bay. She takes you there and makes you never want to leave. Never disappoints us with her happy endings. Another Big Fat Beach Hit!!!
Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for the ARC in exchange for an honest.
I am a big fan of the Paradise Bay Series by Melanie Summers. This is supposed to be the final book in the series, and I absolutely loved it! We met Vivian in Book 7, Tide Together, but in this book she is the main character. She is an influencer, but most of her audience is getting older, getting married and having babies. Vivian made up an off-screen boyfriend for her social media fans, but a rival influencer started calling her out for lying. In a state of panic, Vivian announced on social media she would be revealing her boyfriend and that they were getting married. Enter Dominic, an entertainer on the island Vivian is visiting her BFF on - he overhears their conversation about meeting a fake fiancé and volunteers. He invites her to move in with him, his brother Ben, and his nephew. Let's just say Ben is not exactly on board. There are so many fun twists and turns as Vivian and Ben start seeing sparks! This is the perfect book for your summer reading list!
My Big Fat Beach Wedding is a fast-paced, heartwarming romance featuring an FMC who gets caught up in influencer fame.
With the hustle and bustle of NYC, it’s easy to see how Vivian could get carried away, especially with the life she’s known for the past decade suddenly at risk of being taken away.
Enter Ben and Dom. Their brotherly banter was one of my favorite parts, especially seeing how they put their lives on hold to make sure Henry had the best.
The introduction of Dom and Viv had me cackling, and I absolutely loved how on board he was for this lavender marriage. I also appreciated that Ben’s concerns were valid. Even though he was just worried about his brother, it was his vulnerability that made him even more attractive.
I do wish Ben and Viv had more time to develop their relationship, it felt a bit rushed. But overall, this was a cute, quick read, and I would definitely love to check out more of the Paradise Bay series.

In this story we meet Vivian who is an influencer who has been caught in a lie and is trying to figure out what to do. While visiting her best friend Paige who moved to paradise to be with the man of her dreams we have Dominic overhear the situationship Vivian has put herself into and agrees to be her fiancé. However one major complication is Dominic is not attracted to women but his brother Ben is. Ben is your fabulous grumpy guy who has the most adorable 5 year old son. I loved this book so much, and even though it is technically part of a series, you can read this as a standalone. If you love, love please read this book. You will laugh, you might cry a tear or two, you will want to smack people over the head but it is so well worth it. Thank you NetGalley, Gretz Corp, & Melanie Summers for choosing me to be an arc reader for this book.
Couldn't put it down! I had to finish this, just to see how it ends and if there's an HEA. (There is, it's unconventional but good)
I thought it started out slow and I just couldn't wrap my head around the influencer aspect: I get very irritated with content creators (yes, I do still follow them on socials but I get upset after awhile lol) but the way Melanie handled it was great. She really showed the behind-the-scenes aspect of being a content creator.
Ben is dreamy and masculine but also has such a soft spot for his son. I immediately loved everything about their relationship, and could definitely relate to not knowing what to do with a baby!
Overall, it was a fun, beach read and I enjoyed it! And loved Dom and his Schitt's Creek reference!
Melanie Summers makes a foray into the social media influencer's world in My Big Fat Beach Wedding. The pressures of having to come up with the newest big thing, contant postings in order to get the "like" clicks, fan interactions and always being on the lookout for new sponsors and revenue. In this case the need to bolster her flagging popularity, Vivian Whitlock creates a non- existent boyfriend. A move that starts to backfire and that leads to a fake engagement and wedding. Enter Dominic James, his brother Benjamin and Ben's son Henry. Dominic maybe the answer to her predicament but it's Ben who captivates her....well after a bit of a rocky start, that is. Does attaining your goals mean you have to forgo happiness all for the sake of remaining popular and relevant?
Sweet, Somewhat Zany, Closed Door, Rom-Com with Wonderful Found Family and Characters
This book was so much fun it was hard to put down, but I also enjoyed the underlying social commentary on how much "control" influencers are able to exert, and how often fake it can be - not to mention the on-line nastiness and trolling and the effects that can have. I really liked both Vivian and Ben, LOVED his son Luca, and enjoyed their relationships with Dominic. But the best part was seeing all of their personal growth and finding their "true hearts". The book is part of a series (love Paradise Bay!), but is easily read as a standalone - Enjoy!
I was sent an ARC by the author and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
My Big Fat Beach Wedding is book 8 in the Paradise Bay series and while it could be read as a standalone, I would highly recommend reading the previous book for a great introduction to Vivian and her unshakeable loyalty to her friends. Otherwise, I might not have liked her as much in the beginning. On the other hand, I really really loved Ben, Dominic and above all, Henry. They made this story an absolute delight to read and made me root for them to get their HEAs. There's lots of witty dialogue, tongue-in-cheek humour, a touch of spice and heat and an emotional ending where love wins the day - as it should!. I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a complimentary copy. Vivian Whitlock is an influencer who lied about being in a committed relationship (shocker). She and her friend Paige are staying at a Paradise Bay Resort discussing her dilemma when Dominic James overhears. Dominic says he will help her, but she ends up moving in with him. Dominic lives with his Brother, Ben, and his five-year-old son, Henry. Ben and Vivi don't have a great start, but Henry likes her. Life gets more complicated as Vivi and Ben start to fall for one another. What will Vivi do about her fake engagement to Dominic? Will she continue with the charade for her followers or will she follow her heart? Henry was my absolute favorite character in this book, loved his little red glasses. What a cutie.
This is book 8 in Summers' Paradise Bay series and while a wonderful addition to the series, this book can be read as a standalone. A delightfully funny romance read that is well written and completely captivating. I couldn't get enough! Main character Vivian is a social media influencer whose been deceiving her followers with a fake boyfriend only to dig herself deeper into the deception by claiming to be getting married?!? Ben is a single dad who has no need to complicate his life further but when his son is seen with a woman, he's meant to marry, complications abound. This read was so much fun from start to finish and I can't wait for more from Summers!
