For years I've been dreaming of a real Christmas back home. Tree trimming, decorating, Christmas carols. What I wasn't expecting was Cole.

Add in a heart of gold, always helping others in need.

We had planned out every detail of our lives together…including his dream of becoming a major league pitcher.

This was my first experience with Abby's writing, and it certainly won't be my last. I absolutely adore her writing style and the way she crafts such genuine connections between her characters and the readers. I'm eagerly looking forward to exploring more of her past works and seeing what she has in store for the future!

This story of second chances and random flashbacks, though not usually my favorite, truly captivated me with its charm. The banter between characters was delightful. I also appreciate when books delve into excessive details, even if they don't always advance the plot, as it helps me vividly imagine the scenes. This book did just that, and I loved every moment from start to finish!

If you are looking for the coziest Christmas Romance definitely be sure to read this one!

There isn't much better than forced proximity due to a blizzard especially when you add in Christmas, Hot Chocolate, and second chances.

I absolutely loved the MMC Cole. I loved that he is totally head over heels in love with Noelle after they went separate ways years before. I love his tender moments with her and that he was willing to give her space and time to process everything. Even when all he wanted to do was show how much he loved her.

Watching Noelle not only find love again, but also joy after a lot of heartache just warms your own heart. I love that we see her slowly lower her walls and give Cole a chance once again.

This books has so many fun moments, swoony moments, and moments where you just want it to be Christmas already too so you can join in the festivities too!

I hope you give A Not so Merry Ex-Mas a try because even though it is on the shorter side of a novel it gives you everything you want in a romance book!

I’ve never read any books by this author before this one but now I fear I have been missing out all this time. This was such a cute short book and it had all the cozy Christmas feels to it!
Also absolutely love that our FMC is named Noelle!! She was such a sweetheart that has had a lot of hardships hit her all in a short time in life. But she is able to reconnect with Cole who is such a golden retriever cutie pie!! He’s genuinely so loving and sweet to her and knows when to give her the space she needs it’s adorable. Cole has also gone through some rough things in life but he’s ready to finally explain to Noelle everything. This was adorable and I’m so happy I was able to read it! Such a nice relaxing short book.

Easily a 4.5 ⭐️

Very cozy and quick Christmas read! Took me about 2 hours if that! Cole and Noelle (also fell in love with her name cause you know… NOEL and it’s Christmas..) have my heart. So happy it’s not a slow burn and I already knew it was going to be a happy ending!

It’s every woman’s worst nightmare. You drive cross country to start over and to spend Christmas with your best friend and her hubby.

Unbeknownst to you, she and hubby aren’t coming. An emergency delayed them. That’s fine. You’ll just have the cabin all to yourself.

A voice calls to you and you freeze. You know that voice. You whirl around and look into the eyes of your ex. And your stomach drops.

That’s the opening of the story, and what a delightful story it is! I love the second chance romance trope, and it’s done so well with Noelle and Cole.

I received an advance copy from the publisher. I’m under no obligation and my review has not been solicited. If you’re looking for a fun holiday novel, this one is the one!

Cole has continued to love Noelle throughout their years apart...even while she was married. He has a second chance now that she's divorced. Plus, it's Christmas. They have hot chocolate with marshmallows. And it snows. Let the romance begin! And begin it does! *sa-wooon*.

OVERALL STAR RATING: 4/5
CLEAN RATING: 5/5

Can you really go wrong with a snowed in at a cabin during a blizzard story? I think not! 😉 Such a perfectly sweet read for the cozy season. This was my first time reading anything by Abby and I really enjoyed it. At just over 200 pages, it’s perfect to read in between the hustle and bustle of the upcoming holidays.

Noelle had been craving a trip back home and time spent with her best friend, Mel. They had an exciting cabin trip planned, but, well…plans change. Noelle had gotten on the road before a major blizzard hit, but Mel wound up delayed. Mel was also doing a little best friend interfering in making sure that Noelle’s ex, Cole, was waiting for her at the cabin. Cole was perfect. Cole was kind. Cole was someone Noelle thought she was going to spend her forever with, but when her grandmother got sick and Cole was making a name for himself in major league baseball, she felt it was best to pull away and not prevent Cole from living out his career dreams. Emphasis on “career”, because what Noelle failed to understand was how desperate Cole was for his dreams and future to include her. Baseball was not his driving force in life.

A blizzard hits and Cole and Noelle are stuck sharing their space for the time being with Mel unable to make it out due to the storm. It takes a while for Noelle’s frosty personality to thaw, but once it does, the two are able to open up and speak honestly about what happened in their past.

A very sweet, dual POV, second chance romance.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I originally picked it up to get a feel for the book (I do this often) and, from that first chapter, I knew I would love it.

Official Rating ~ 4.5⭐️

It’s beautifully written and flows seamlessly allowing you to devour each chapter without realising it. The main characters, Cole & Noelle, are fantastic. They’re relatable, sweet and funny and I love their interactions together even the frostier ones! lol
I adore the other characters, Mel & Mike. It’s thanks to them and their meddling that Cole & Noelle can work through their heartbreak. And they are funny, too!
I love Cole’s cute nickname for Noelle, made me smile throughout.
And, of course, the backstory including how, two people perfect for each other, drifted apart.
There is some sadness, (as there is in life in general), but there is love, hope & friendship.

What more do you want from a romcom?! It even makes me smile thinking about it as I write my review. 🥰

Why only 4.5 stars? Well, there was a word over used to describe a facial expression and the epilogue. It was cute but I personally would have been happier without it but I’m just being nit-picky.

However, I adored this. It’s was the perfect cosy second chance romcom with the most gorgeous characters and idyllic setting. Pure heaven in a book!

FYI it’s a clean, sweet romcom so NO spice just adorable kissing scenes. These are my favourite kind of romcom. ♥️

Part of the Sweet Kisses Christmas Series (12 books by different authors) I’ll be checking out. 😘🎄

A Not So Merry Ex-Mas is part of the Sweet Christmas Kisses series. This is a multi-author series with all books being able to be enjoyed as standalones or in any order.

What a cute holiday read! Can you imagine showing up to stay at your best friend's cabin for the holidays only to discover that your ex is already there!? And THEN you're hit with a blizzard and snowed in alone together!? Oh yes, this definitely had all the cozy holiday romance vibes I adore and felt very much like a Hallmark-type story... in the very best way possible! Second chances are always favorites of mine, but I think there's something even more magical about second chances over the holidays! We were given glimpses into their past and what had happened between them, making me root for them all that much more. They had such a sweet relationship, and I couldn't help but enjoy them together. If you're looking for a cozy read with all the Christmas cheer, you will definitely want to add this one to your holiday TBR.

A Not So Merry Ex-Mas is a closed-door romance with kisses only and no language.

**ARC received for consideration. All opinions are my own.

exes noelle and cole are stuck in a cabin together after being snowed in, and she can't stand him. can they rekindle their old romance, or will things be even worse between them?

for only a plot that occurs in a few days, this was really cute! all the moments noelle and cole had together were cute and i loved seeing them do christmas activities.

⊱𝙣𝙤𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙚 & 𝙘𝙤𝙡𝙚
this is noelle's first christmas back home and she wants it to be special because of what she's been through. i feel bad for her and i'm glad she's moving on with her life.

my buddy cole has been through a lot as well. i'm surprised he took everything so well but then again, time heals. i'm glad he had a support system and good friends.

⊱𝙢𝙞𝙨𝙘𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙚𝙤𝙪𝙨 𝙣𝙤𝙩𝙚𝙨
i don't think these types of short stories are for me. i like my stories longer so i can fully see the character's journey and not just some snapshots. i'm not saying i didn't like this story, because i found it cute. i just wish there was more development and plot.

i did not find cole's nickname funny at all...pretty basic to me actually.

⊱𝙛𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝𝙩𝙨
overall, this is a cute christmas book that will hit everything you want in one! there are some setbacks but only because of how short it is but don't let that stop you from reading. i enjoyed seeing noelle and cole slowly come back to one another and i'm glad they got the ending they deserved.

thank you abby and netgalley for providing me with an arc copy!

This is a cute + simple second chance romance that will get you in the mood for the cozy holiday reads. Second chances are a fave trope of mine and then throwing in forced proximity? Yes, please!

I loved the genuine friendships and connections shown between the characters. Mel and Mike were fun secondary characters, and their meddling was funny and good natured.
I also loved how the flashbacks were incorporated. The transitioning was great!

All in all, total charming + hallmark vibes!

It's also a standalone in a multi-author series, Sweet Christmas Kisses, if you're planning out your holiday reads and need recommendations!

💖Cole & Noelle💖

I loved Cole from the start. He is the perfect golden retriever. I was so happy to see Noelle warm up to him & decide to let love in. She deserves all the happiness after her jerk ex. A Not so Merry Ex-mas was a delightfully cheesy Christmas novella. A fast-paced love story, but watching the two of them quickly fall back in love was adorable. It was predictable but that made me enjoy it even more. Perfect Christmas novella.

❄️❄️ ARC REVIEW ❄️❄️

Noelle is returning to New York after a decade filled with grief, heartache, and divorce. Excited to spend Christmas at her best friend’s cabin, the last thing she expected was to come face to face…and snowed in…with the one man she truly ever loved, Cole. SO HOT. Nichols (yep, I can totally see where that nickname came from 🥵)

It’s been years since they have dealt with a rocky breakup…and feelings that never truly went away. Being snowed in a romantic cabin together may be just the thing to bring them back together…or push them apart again…

Guys—I’ve been in SUCH a slump (this is my first book this month), and @authorabbygreyson never disappoints—This may be my favorite so far! ARC Review⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I’ve got another Christmas recommendation for you! This is a dual point of view, sweet holiday romantic comedy. You can always make time for a little Christmas novella to get you in the mood for Christmas. This was a cute read and is part of a new series called the Sweet Christmas Kisses Series.

The author did a great job with the forced proximity of the main characters. They are snowed in together and the initial animosity is very humorous and fun. I enjoyed how it transitioned into back and forth looks of longing and a sweet romance.

🎄Blurb for the series:
For years I've been dreaming of a real Christmas back home. Tree trimming, decorating, Christmas carols. What I wasn't expecting was Cole.

💚 Forced proximity
❤️ Second chance romance (Ex’s)
💚 Matchmaking
❤️ Firefighter
💚 Sweet holiday romcom
❤️ Enemies to lovers

Few things evoke the Christmas atmosphere better than a cosy, snowy mountain cabin and a heart-warming romantic story. Abby Greyson's novel, "A Not So Merry Ex-Mas", delivers just that as it talks about second chances, old wounds and emotions that never fade away.

At the heart of the story is Noelle, who after her divorce can't wait to finally celebrate Christmas again with her best friend Melanie and her husband Mike in the mountains. But things quickly take an unexpected turn when Mel and Mike leave late because of his work, and Noelle arrives at the cabin to find herself alone – well, not quite alone, as her old love Cole is waiting for her. The two main characters were once inseparable, but life has swept them apart. But now fate – and their friends' secret plan – brings them back together.

One of the novel's greatest strengths is the wonderful sensitivity and depth with which Abby Greyson portrays Noelle and Cole's relationship. Not only is the present tension and attraction evident in every line, but also the wounds of their past and their buried feelings. The reader is given an insight into the minds of both characters, as the story is told from both Noelle's and Cole's points of view, which makes the narrative even more fascinating and interesting.

Being forced to be together and a blizzard creates a romantic yet emotionally challenging situation in which the protagonists must confront their past, their wounds and their own feelings. As the snow slowly melts outside, the barriers between them begin to break down and they begin to grow closer.

The novel "A Not So Merry Ex-Mas" is part of the "Sweet Christmas Kisses" collection of 12 Christmas-themed stories by 12 authors. Not only is this novel romantic and emotional, it is also the perfect choice for those who love a story with a cozy, wintery atmosphere and a bit of second chance love.

If you love heart-warming, Christmas romance and believe that true love can stand through time and distance, then this book is guaranteed to make your heart flutter. I received a free copy of "A Not So Merry Ex-Mas" by Abby Greyson via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Abby Greyson’s A Not So Merry Ex-Mas is a heartwarming holiday romantic comedy that wraps you up in the magic of Christmas and the hope of second chances. As someone who adores sweet, slow-burn romances with a healthy dose of nostalgia, this story hit all the right festive notes.

Told in dual POV, the book follows our heroine, who returns home for the first time in years, hoping for a fresh start after a painful divorce. Instead, she finds herself face-to-face with Cole Nichols, her ex from a decade ago—the man she thought she'd left behind forever. Greyson beautifully captures that bittersweet tension of rekindling old feelings, especially when both characters have grown but are still connected by their shared past.

Cole is the quintessential holiday hero: tall, charming, with a heart of gold. His love for the heroine never truly disappeared, and the way Greyson weaves in their unresolved feelings is both touching and swoon-worthy. Their interactions, full of chemistry and emotional depth, are a delight to read. The way they navigate their complicated history while the snow falls and Christmas magic swirls around them gives the story a warm, nostalgic feel.

What really made this book stand out for me were the cozy Christmas vibes. From tree trimming to carols, A Not So Merry Ex-Mas is full of holiday charm that feels comforting and familiar. The close-proximity trope, along with enemies-to-lovers and second chances, made the story’s progression all the more engaging. It’s clear both characters have been through their share of heartache, but Christmas offers them a chance to heal and find their way back to each other.

If you’re looking for a sweet, lighthearted holiday romance with just enough emotional depth to keep you invested, this book is a perfect cozy read. With a slow-burn romance, a happily ever after, and plenty of holiday cheer, A Not So Merry Ex-Mas is a festive delight that will leave you smiling and ready for a second helping of Christmas magic.

A Not So Merry Ex-Mas
by Abby Greyson

I received a complimentary copy and am voluntarily leaving a review.

"A Not So Merry Ex-Mas" is a sweet romance by Abby Greyson. It's a fairly short read that I devoured in one sitting. The book begins with Noelle excited to spend Christmas at a cabin with her best friend Mel and Mel's husband, Mike. Upon reaching her destination, she is surprised to find someone else already at the cabin - Cole
Noelle's ex, Cole, is a stunningly handsome man. Unfortunately, she hasn't seen him in years due to a falling out between them. After their disagreement, Noelle married Dean, definitely not her best move, and no longer spoke to Cole. Now divorced, will Noelle be able to let her guard down and allow Cole back into her life? Will Cole be patient enough to let Noelle make the first move? Only time will tell. And what better way to find out than being forced to spend time together due to a snowstorm?

The book "A Not So Merry Ex-Mas" is a captivating romantic read that held my attention from the beginning. I was immediately drawn into the intricacies of the characters' relationship and history. It was evident that something tragic had caused their separation, as indicated by the unspoken words between them. I found myself rooting for them, hoping they would overcome their misunderstandings and recognize the significance of their past love. I was not let down. The point of view switches between Noelle and Cole in each chapter, with a clear indication of the focused character at the start of the chapter. Certain passages also describe past events between them. However, this does not interfere with the reading enjoyment or cause any complications in understanding who is speaking.

I thoroughly enjoyed this novel, and Cole is now my new book boyfriend. I rate it 5 out of 5 stars and recommend it to others who want a sweet romance with a happy ending.

What a sweet love story this is. This is one of those stories of love where they drifted apart to rediscover each other later and realize what they had been missing. Cole went off to a baseball career ending with an injury to his arm. Noelle took care of her dying grandmother and then went on to a marriage that ended in divorce. Now they are all planning on the perfect Christmas at the cabin with tree trimming, decorating and Christmas carols. Along with those special cookies that Noelle makes.

It seems like forever since Noelle has seen Mel and Mike and she is really looking forward to spending time with them. Mike is a fire chief so he gets called in at the last minute for one of his men to be with his wife to have their first baby. So their getting on the road is delayed for a day. When Noelle arrives at the cabin she sees Cole Nichols her old boyfriend that she has not seen since Mel and Mike's wedding. Cole is Mike's best friend and Mel is Noelle's best friend so it stands to reason that he would be here. But why did Mel not warn her? Is this a set up? Cole works with Mike at the fire station. Same old Cole very handsome with broad shoulders, a smile to die for and dreamy green eyes that hold a mischievous glint, he sure has not changed much. When Cole sees me and he yells "Ladybug" his long time nickname for me and hurries over to give me a big hug.

With Mel and Mike being late getting to the cabin it gave Noelle and Cole a lot of time to talk and catch up, and just spend time together. There is another delay as we are hit with a big snowstorm. During this time we grew close again and realized what time we had wasted being apart. So our romance took off with a big spark again. Just like Mel and Mike thought it would.

I got this book from Book Sprout and will be happy to leave my review.

Following her divorce, Noelle leaves and returns to her home town to spend Christmas with her best friend but didn’t plan on a blizzard preventing her from getting there or from her ex boy friend being there at the cabin when she shows up!

She let him go so he could pursue a professional baseball career when her grandmother got sick and she left to take care of her. Then she just didn’t contact him or her best friend afterwords. She never forgot him but felt he had moved on and it shocked her to find he still loved her after all these years. His career was cut short by an injury and he came back and worked in the town she had moved away from.

Being together and talking they discovered they still loved each other as much as they did before she left him to take care of her grandmother and the blizzard and upcoming Christmas turns out to be the beginning of their happily ever after!

I really enjoyed this sweet story which just shows that
when you love someone you shouldn’t cast that love
aside thinking you’re holding them back if you’re needed to do something else at the same time! Love can weather both things if you’re united! Noelle certainly had an unhappy life after her grandmother
passed away as a result and Cole’s life wasn’t much better.

I happily recommend this book and this series as stories that will warm your heart this holiday season and will also be good reading year round to brighten your world after the doom and gloom you hear constantly from the media telling you how bad everything is in the world! These stories renew your faith in the power of forgiveness and second chances
and letting the love that these two people had for each other be given the chance to grow once again!

I loved this book and I know you’ll love it as well!

Before I begin, I would like to thank Abby Greyson for allowing me to read her upcoming book, A Not So Merry Ex-Mas, which will be available on Amazon on October 2nd, 2024.

Noelle has been dreaming of a true Christmas for years, complete with decorating trees and singing carols, but she didn’t expect seeing Cole Nichols. He’s handsome, sweet, and a while ago, they both believed that they would spend their lives together, but then her gran got sick. Rather than keeping him from his dreams of being a major league pitcher, she broke both of their hearts by setting him free. Now a divorce with a different man a decade later, and the man she never forgot is stuck with her in her best friend’s cabin. Is this her past haunting her, or is it giving them a second chance?

I adored this book. You have Noelle, a hardworking, Christmas-loving, kind young woman that looks forward to spending time with her best friend over the holidays and has been through a lot over the past several years. You have Cole, a charming, determined, and thoughtful young man that is committed to taking care of his community and loved ones. I loved the banter between Mike, Mel, Cole, and Noelle, and the main characters together as well. Both of the characters were relatable, and I appreciated how open they were to communicate with each other once they were both ready. Overall, if you like humor, great friend dynamics, Christmas traditions, forced-proximity, small-town second-chance sweet romance with low amounts of spice, then I would highly recommend this book. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/ 🌶️

If you look at my profile page on any social media site or list of read authors, Abby Greyson is a consistent repeat author. Everything she writes, I adore and devour. When she announced she was collaborating with 11 other authors to bring readers a 12 book series, I knew I would read it the moment I could and was so excited for a holiday book by Abby.

Cole and Noelle haven’t spoken in years. They dated in the past, but once they broke up, contact stopped. Noelle made some poor choices, married quickly after, but that marriage ended in divorce. Now thanks to their friends and a planned getaway (in which they don’t know the other has been invited) they are forced together and have to decide to wade through their past or make the trip awkward as possible.

Even the weather doesn’t want to give them a way to separate. As a blizzard keeps them from being able to leave, they begin to let their defenses down and get to know each other again. As they open up to each other feelings begin to churn as wildly as the blizzard outside. Did Noelle ever get over Cole? Will Cole be patient with Noelle as she opens back up to him? When the blizzard lets up, what then?

Abby always delivers characters you find yourself rooting for. Her books guarantee swoony moments, all the sizzle without the spice, and heartwarming storylines. This book was no different and a great book to get ready for the Christmas season. With festive holiday activities, fun banter between friends, and meddlesome friends who want the best for you, this story was a very fun read.

As always, review any author notes before reading.

I absolutely LOVE Abby's books. I've read so many and I was checking my inbox nonstop waiting for this ARC to arrive. It was everything I was hoping for.

Noelle
She just recently got divorced and is wanting to make this her best Christmas ever. She's going to be staying with her Best Friend at her family cabin. She is a cheerful loving person with self confidence issues. She is so afraid of being a burden she would have rather stayed in a loveless marriage then follow her heart. She is a goofy baker who I absolutely loved reading.

Cole
He is still madly in love with Noelle and it's obvious from the first time we meet him. He is seriously perfect. He's understanding, caring and knows her so well. He was a professional Baseball player now Fireman who has trouble with cats 🤣 He is willing to go ad slow or fast as Noe needs and seriously can't express how freakin perfect he is.

This is a second chance romance (no cheating) that is filled with so much loving moments. The random flash backs were absolutely perfect and tied the story together so nicely.
I loved how happy this story made me but also how my heart broke. Abby is seriously such a talented author and i will read anything by her. The witty bantering, loving looks and the world trying to mess with them was so perfect. This was a slow burn to hot inferno (just sweet kisses no spicy scenes in her books). I love how it is always a guarantee that Abby will write a sweet loving story that melts my ice cold Heart.

Thank you so much got getting me in the hoilday mood and for letting me read another one of your beautiful stories. I cannot wait to add it to my shelf.
