I watch as she preps her second cup of tea, and I wonder what this whole experience is like for her: generations of stories held inside one woman, the memories swirling in this contained inner space. Was it lonely? To remember but not have anyone to remember with? I feel overfull with emotions, thinking about what it must be liked to have so many stories held inside.
Caroline is chatty and hasn't seen Grandma in a while, so she carries most of the conversations. She and my grandma Lydia are cut from the same cloth, no matter how much they tease each other. Both are bright, vivid personalities, artists at heart. Grandma Lydia creates with her garden in the summer and her textiles in the winter--knitting hats and gloves and my beloved thick wool socks--while Caroline creates with her photography. Together, they are non-stop banter and laughter.
Curses are made to be broken, right? After spiraling for a bit while attempting to even accept the idea of curses being real, I fall into an Internet hole, feeling very much like Bella Swan typing up her little scraps of knowledge into Google, searching for answer to the questions I have about the mysterious boy I have a crush on.
