Everlasting Ink #4

What About Now?

Rate this book
NYT and USA Today Bestselling author Kaylee Ryan brings you a new standalone series surrounding five best friends who co-own a tattoo studio. "What About Now?" is an age gap, found family, drunken Vegas wedding, small town romance.

Brogan

I didn’t plan on hooking up with my new brother-in-law’s best friend… or marrying him.

Life hasn’t been easy, and it’s left me a little bruised, and a lot cautious. So, when I wake up in Vegas married to Maddox, I’m convinced it’s a mistake. A drunken accident that we should undo before anyone finds out.

But he doesn’t see it that way. He asks for six months. Six months to show me we could be something real. And I don’t know why I say yes, except maybe a part of me wants to believe him.

I’m not sure I deserve someone like him. But with every look, every touch, and every little gesture, Maddox is breaking down my walls.

That’s why the next time he asks "what about now?" I know I'm going to say yes.

Maddox

I always thought Brogan was off-limits. Our paths didn’t just cross, they tangled.

If things didn’t work out between us, it would hurt a lot of people. So I stayed in my lane, convincing myself it was for the best.

Until Vegas.

One too many drinks, a blurred wedding chapel, and a couple of shiny rings later, Brogan wakes up next to me… as my wife.

She’s ready to call it a mistake and move on, but I see it for what it is: fate handing me the chance I’ve been too scared to take.

So I make her a deal. Six months. I’ll prove we belong together, and if she still doesn’t believe it, we’ll walk away. No hard feelings.

But I’m not going down without a fight. Flowers, her favorite coffee—I’ll give her everything she never knew she wanted, including me.

And one of these times when I ask if she believes it yet that were meant to be, I just might get the answer I’m hoping for.

Because I’ve waited long enough to make her mine, and this time, I’m not letting her go.

Very, very sweet romance when you are in the mood for a low angst, found family book which this book delivered.
The heroine annoyed me with her " all my fault with what happened to my sister continuously thru 3/4 of the book. The hero was the perfect cinnamon roll,he adored the heroine from the first page.Im glad she had therapy to sort out her issues.
So far ,4 books into this series and there are babies everywhere except for the main couple. But by the way they are carrying on,I bet they will be pregnant in book #5 which I am hoping will be Maggie and Lachlan book with an" oops baby" trope.
So far in this series, book#1, followed by #2 are my favorities.

I am truly in love with Kaylee Ryan and this series. Who does not love strong, sexy, tattoo artists who fall head over heels for a woman and then treat her like the queen she deserves to be treated as? Ryan's men are so swoon worthy, they are modern day poets, and they play perfectly in to the romance that any person deserves. What About Now? is the forth installment of the Everlasting Ink series that features this found family unit of heroes who fall hard and fast for their women and I eat up every bite of them! This novel is sweet, sensual and fast paced, utilizing well known and loved tropes Ryan creates this fun world where men fully experience their emotions and dive head first into treating the heroine (and others) with respect and understanding.

This drunk marriage is about the decision to stay together, the decision to put yourself and your partner forward. Maddox and Brogan have been circling each other for a while and after a drunk marriage in Vegas, they find themselves in the position of maybe changing their relationship. Maddox is fully in, and he knows what he wants, he wants Brogan and he will do anything to show her he is all in. This romance is really about Brogan's journey, of learning to trust in others, and know that Maddox will be there for her as she continues to process her grief. This romance is truly so romantic, I was swept away in their story.

I so highly recommend Kaylee Ryan especially if you need a romance that is centered around building and exploring a relationship built on understanding and communication. This series is magic and I can not wait for the last everlasting ink man to find his happily ever after!

Thank you to Grey's Promotions for an eARC, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Spice: 2.5/5 🌶️
Characters: Maddox and Brogan

This starts out with both of them waking up in Vegas and discovering they are married. Maddox is all in from the start, but Brogan takes a bit more convincing. She's convinced that she's "broken", and that Maddox won't want to stay with her. He talks her into giving them six months of staying married and dating. He's sure he can convince her they are right for one another.
That's a quick summary but the book is so much more than that. It's the journey of Brogan healing and learning to accept what happened to her while wanting more for her future. Maddox is pretty much perfect. He's attentive, supportive, sweet, thoughtful, has a delicious mouth on him, and is patient. He's a dream hero.
I love that therapy was involved in the story; both with Brogan going alone and including her sister and Maddox. I also love the found family aspect. This group is full of incredible characters, and I definitely want to go back and read their stories. This can be read as a standalone. I read it without reading the others in the series and I was not lost. I do think it might hit a little harder if you read book 3 (her sister's story) beforehand though. It's not necessary but I do think it might have given a bit more of their story and connection.

I thoroughly enjoyed this and will be going back to catch up on the series.

Honestly.. it was just okay. When I signed up for the ARC it said the series is standalones so I didn’t bat at an eye at signing up. I loved one of the other books but missed Briar’s story.. and it’s very evident that I needed to read it. There’s TOO much mention of “that night” and I have no idea what that night is. We are consistently reminded of her trouble with her past but aren’t given any information about it.

Overall, I didn’t really connect with either main character. I felt they were both surface level and kinda boring. I love a good “my wife” moment as good as the next romance girlie but it’s said 378 times and lost its charm early on. The things Maddox says are too fake sounding, it made his character “too fictional” if that makes sense.

Unfortunately I just didn’t love the book. There was hardly anything happening, I felt bored and it was pretty bland. I’ll go back and read Briar’s story because I do like Kaylee’s other work. This one just wasn’t for me, thank you Greys for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Maddox was down bad for Brogan and she was secretly pining for him. They get drunk while in Vegas for the wedding of Maddox best friend and Brogan’s sister and get married. They decide to give themselves six months to see if it will work out. Brogan doesn’t think it will while Maddox does. The rest of the story is essentially them working out if they should stay married. Brogan has some trauma and goes to therapy.

This is my second book by this author. I read the first in this series and it was also fine, but I just don’t think her work is for me. It’s not bad by any means but I’m not the target audience and that’s okay. ❤️

Thank you to Greys Promotions and Kaylee Ryan for the ARC.

I’m really enjoying this series, the brotherhood between these five tattoo artists creating a family with the women they fall in love with. This instalment was an easy to read, super sweet, low angst story. Maddox and Brogan have secretly pined after one another for months so when they wake up in Vegas married, Maddox see’s it as his chance to make her see what they could be together.

While I liked this, I just found myself wanting more depth to the characters and their connection. It all came very easily and not a lot happened plot wise. I would have loved more of a build up and a bit of tension or angst between them.

Some things I loved…
⊹ maddox was down BAD right from the start.
⊹ the way he worked to show her, not just tell her, that he was all in.
⊹ while he was full steam ahead, he was so sweet + patient with her.
⊹ the mutual pining. oh the pining.
⊹ the undying support and protection he gave her.
⊹ the found family warm + fuzzies are perfect.
⊹ the dynamic + banter between this group continues to be a highlight.
⊹ intrigued by lachlan + looking forward to the last book of the series!

Brogan, finds it hard to trust people. After what happened to Briar, she hates the unknown. So waking up in Vegas, married to the man she has feelings for and not remembering anything leaves her shocked.

Maddox, has wanted Brogan since he met her. But he didn't cross that line because she is Forrest's sister in law. But that all changes when he wakes up married to Brogan, and convincing his wife to stay married is a challenge his willing to accept.

Maddox and Brogan's book was an emotional one. Brogan was insecure but Maddox did and said the most beautiful things and he just understood her.

Their chemistry was amazing and how they fell was perfect.

Now it’s no secret I’m a huge Kaylee fan, I’ve been reading her for years and she’s just automatic for me. That being said The Everlasting Ink has been one of my favorites. What about Now is book 4, it can be read as a standalone, but for better understanding I would recommend starting at the beginning. This book we finally get Maddox and Brogdon.

Both Maddox and Brogdon have secretly had feelings for each other but neither has acted on it… until now

What happens when you drink too much in Vegas with that crush…you wake up married to them.

From the beginning Maddox has been all in this marriage and wants to be married to Brogdon, because he knows she’s his person.

Brogdon, on the other hand, feels she doesn’t deserve Maddox. She feels broken due to some past trauma and blame she carries.

Maddox asks her to give it 6 months so he can convince her he’s in this for the long haul. Can he convince her to make a lifetime commitment with him??

I absolutely loved seeing these two finally come together. The way Maddox was not only so patient, and helpful , but also so attentive and supportive of Brogdon. He was such a cinnamon roll hero underneath all those tattoos but at the same time he was a possessive hero too.

This was such a sweet and heartwarming story, but also dealt with some more emotional issues as well. I can’t wait to read Lachlans story next. I absolutely love this series.

The blurb for this book sounded interesting so I signed up for an ARC. I didn’t hesitate even though this was the 4th book in a series because it was described as being a standalone.

This starts with the Brogan and Maddox waking up married in Vegas. They are part of a group of friends/found family who were in Vegas for Brogan’s sister and Maddox’s best friend’s wedding. Having no clue who any of these characters are a new to the series reader is left trying to figure out the connection between these characters.

Maddox and Brogan had been sorta friends, but not dating when they wake up married and he convinces her to give him 6 months to fall in love with him. They jump into living together with zero connection and Maddox trying to compete for the perfect husband award with all his smooth lines and actions.

Brogan and her sister have a past trauma that happened ‘that night’ that Brogan carries an unreasonable amount of guilt over. She describes herself as broken and thinks Maddox won’t want her.

While this book had some potential, it isn’t something I enjoyed very much. The relationships are all way too perfect. Maddox and Brogan really don’t have much chemistry and not much happens until about the 75% mark.

Other readers clearly enjoyed it so this may very well just not be the book for me. I was disappointed because I had read a book by this author a few years ago that I really enjoyed and was hoping for more from this book.

I received a free ARC from the author and Grey’s PR; and I am voluntarily leaving an unbiased review.

I absolutely loved What About Now? by Kaylee Ryan; it is an incredible age gap drunken Vegas marriage love story. It is the fourth book in her Everlasting Ink series. Kaylee Ryan is an amazing storyteller and is a must read; one click author for me. I was hooked from the first few pages, and it was impossible to put What About Now? down, and I loved every moment on every page. It filled me with a rollercoaster of emotions. Who does not love hot sexy men, strong females, loving families, and friends, who always support one another? What About Now? is the story of Maddox Lanigan, tattoo artist and co-owner of Everlasting Ink and Brogan Pearce, phlebotomist. Brogan is the twin sister of Briar. While Brogan and Maddox are attending Briar and Forrest’s Las Vegas wedding, they drunkenly get married themselves. They only realize this when they wake up with wedding bands on their ring fingers the following morning. After returning home from Las Vegas Brogan and Maddox are both willing to give their marriage a chance for six months. Brogan is not optimistic, since she knows how broken she is because of the night that Briar got pregnant. Maddox moves into Brogan’s home, a house that he always wanted to purchase. I love how Brogan and Maddox refer to each other as “husband” and “wife.” I love the song that they dance to, and that Maddox sings the lyrics. I love everything the Maddox does for Brogan as they live together as husband and wife. I love how slowly he takes things with Brogan. I love the chemistry between Brogan and Maddox, their conversation flows so easily, with innuendos and playful banter, and Maddox constantly flirting and dirty talking. I love the secrets that Brogan and Maddox share with each other, where Brogan explains what happened the night that Briar’s twins were conceived. As they spend time together as husband-and-wife things change between them. I love the surprise they receive in the mail and how that once again changes their relationship. I love all the changes that both Brogan and Maddox are willing to make in their lives to have a life with one another. I love the tattoos that Briar and Brogan each get on the inside on their biceps. I love the text stream between Maddox and Brogan. One of my favorite parts is how Maddox and Briar accompany Brogan to her therapy session where she reveals her deepest secrets. I love Maddox’s reaction. I love the ending of their love story and how Maddox talks to Brogan’s parents while looking up into the sky and then proposes to Brogan. I love the reason that Brogan gives as to why she does not want to get married again. My favorite part are the epilogues told from each of their perspectives and how it goes above a happily ever after. I especially love the epilogue that is told from Maddox’s perspective that details the perfect ending of their love story. The epilogues are the perfect ending of their love story. Another favorite part was the bonus scene download told from Maddox perspective, the surprises, and their happily ever after. I really enjoy how the book is told in the first person from the perspective of the main characters. I love getting the insight and feelings from the different characters. My favorite part of the book is how Kaylee Ryan incorporates the title of the book and the picture on the cover into the love story. I love how the title is asked multiple times throughout the story. This page turner is filled with heartbreaking, heartwarming, poignant, and bittersweet moments as well as plot twists and surprises that I have come to love and expect in a love story and was not disappointed with Kaylee Ryan’s delivery of those things. I love how Kaylee Ryan managed to create the "perfect" heroine, who is a strong, sassy woman on her own, to balance out the sexy, swoon worthy man. I love the characters and the family dynamic in What About Now? the characters feel like family and friends, especially Brogan’s relationship with her twin sister, Briar, Emerson, Monroe, and Maggie. I love the newfound family that Brogan, Briar, River, and Rayne discovered with the Everlasting Ink family. I enjoyed all the interactions between all the Everlasting Ink tattoo artists, it feels like real family love and makes me laugh at their teasing. I love the descriptions of the Ashby location and their new tattoo studio. I loved all the characters in What About Now? and I am so looking forward to reading the last book in the series and find out who Lachlan falls in love with. Who does not love family and friends that always have each other’s backs? This book had my interest from the start, and I fell in love with the story. I thoroughly enjoyed What About Now? who does not love an age gap drunken Vegas wedding love story. Highly recommend this incredible love story. Received an advanced copy from the author.

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐀𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐍𝐨𝐰? is the 4th book in the Everlasting Ink series by Kaylee Ryan, featuring an age-gap, Vegas wedding romance for Brogan and Maddox. Brogan continues to be haunted by the pain in her past, so when a drunken night of fun resulted in her waking up in Maddox’s bed with a wedding ring, she’s sure it was a mistake. Maddox, however, is convinced the liquid courage just allowed them to do what they’ve always wanted, and he wants 6 months to prove it to her. Can he scale the wall around her heart, before the clock runs out?

It’s been no secret how much I love this series, and Brogan and Maddox really touched my heart! I’ve loved Brogan since we met her in the last book, as she was helping her twin sister, Briar, raise her twin daughters. Briar subsequently ended up with Forrest, who is Maddox’s best friend. Brogan and Briar’s backstory is a heart-breaking one, and Brogan is clearly still suffering from it’s impact on her life, especially where men are concerned. Maddox was the ultimate partner, who was ultra-sensitive to her boundaries, and turned into a total Cinnamon Roll Hero, despite his protective alpha instincts! I couldn’t love him more! The slow burn, friends to lovers pace of their romance was exactly what was needed, because when they were ready for heat, the turned it up good!🔥 The whole Everlasting Ink crew was sheer perfection in this book, bringing the banter, the support, and the found family vibe. I loved the scenes with all the kids, as well as Maddox’s amazing parents. Lachlan was always good for a laugh, but he’s a little mysterious, too. His book is going to be fantastic!

I received an ARC for free, and am leaving this review voluntarily.

What About Now ( Everlasting Ink #4) by Kaylee Ryan. When the gang goes to Vegas for Forrest and Briar wedding, Maddox, 1/5 of the best friend group and Brogan, Biar's twin sister wake up after a drunken night to find out they got married. Maddox and Brogan are both shocked. Neither can remember last nights events. All they now is they have wedding bands and a marriage certificate. Initially, Brogan is scared. She has been here before, and the old memories do not help. Brogan doesn't want to be married, but Maddox sees things differently. He comes up with a compromise of staying married for 6 months. He has had a thing for Brogan for a while but hasn't acted on his feelings. Brogan, too, has feelings for Maddox, but she hasn't been able to get over that night. The guilt she carries is a heavy load, and she doesn't deserve to be happy. Maddox knows he is playing beat the clock, but he is determined to convince his wife to stay married and to give their marriage a try. However, her guilt makes it hard for her to feel worthy of being loved. Going on this adventure with Maddox and Brogan was a loving and tender story of two people making an impulsive decision. I couldn't get enough of the two of them. Maddox was just what Brogan needed, and he was not going to give up on Brogan. I am really love this series. The Everlasting Ink family might not be one of the blood. It is one of the heart. The twins are hilarious. 4.5 stars for me

What about now? I didn't need any time to fall in love with Maddox at all. Like all his Everlasting Ink brothers that came before him, Maddox was a sweetheart. He might look like a tattooed bad boy, but Maddox is all cinnamon roll.

We know Brogan Pearce's story when her twin sister fell in love with Forrest, but there is much more to Brogan. She might not have gone through exactly what Briar did but she's had her own demons haunting her.

These two have been in each other's lives from the moment Forrest and Briar met, Maddox has wanted her for that long but was too worried about messing up what Forrest was trying to build. Brogan has felt an attraction to Maddox also, her past left her scared to move forward though.

Fate had other plans for these two though and took the reigns. What was supposed to be a weekend in Vegas for their friends to marry resulted in them tying the knot also. While Maddox is thrilled he's got what he wanted, Brogan is terrified and thinks they should just annul it.

Now Maddox has everything he didn't even know he wanted until Brogan and he's not giving her up easily. He's got plans to show Brogan that together they are something special and that they are forever, he's willing to wait for her to be ready no matter what.

Happy Reading.

I have loved every book so far in the Everlasting Ink series, and What About Now? did not disappoint! Maddox and Brogan's relationship starts off as a drunken marriage (that neither of them can remember the next morning) while in Vegas for the marriage of her twin sister Briar to Forest. Maddox has been interested in Brogan for a while, but was afraid to make a move, so he proposes she gives him six months of staying married to see if they could make a real go of things.

Brogan has a crush on Maddox as well, but she feels broken and lives with crushing guilt stemming from the night that she and Briar were attacked a frat party several years ago. Worried that her demons will be too much for him, she is so afraid to really let herself go around Maddox. But Maddox.... sweet, sweet Maddox... is so patient and loving and attentive and gives Brogan all the space she needs to come around and trust that he wants her as his endgame.

Parts of this story were tough to get through, like their joint therapy session, which broke my heart! But it is a swoony and romantic story. I really thought Kaylee Ryan did a fantastic job writing Briar's book, and Brogan's story was just as heartbreaking and well-written.

This whole series has been one five-star read after another for me, and I can't wait to (hopefully!) see Maggie & Lachlan bring it home!

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

I love this series! The books are short and easy to read but I am hooked from the first sentence and can’t ever put them down! Maddox and Brogan are so damn cute together. She is scared because of her past and insecure because she has never been with a man. He makes her feel like a queen, like she is the center to his everything. He earns her love and trust and she opens up to him with willing arms. I can’t get enough of this friend group that is family. They all have so much love and protection in their hearts for their group. The kids are adorable and I can’t wait till more are added! I am sad this series is ending with only one more book left to be released in April but I can’t wait for it!

What About Now? is another great edition to the Everlasting Ink Series. This book starts with Maddox and Brogan waking up in Vegas and discovering they are married! Maddox has always had feelings for Brogan and wants to stay married. Brogan has been secretly pining for him but is a little more hesitant because she feels like she doesn’t deserve a man like Maddox. However, he convinces her to give them six months of staying married to show her that they are perfect for one another. These two develop the cutest and sweetest relationship ever! I loved how they fell into married life so easily. Maddox was always so patient, attentive and supportive of Brogan. He always made her feel loved, safe and cared for! This was a low angst story, and their chemistry was just perfect!

I loved this book! Maddox is book boyfriend material gold! He was the most swoon-worthy mmc. The way from the beginning that he was all in and willing to do whatever it took to keep Brogan in his life was what a girl dreams about finding in real life. He respected every fear, every boundary, every concern, every bit of who she was and what she needed to be ok. He fought for her as hard as he loves her and that was what had me read this book within a day! He was just the dreamiest. I couldn’t put the book down.

Maddox finally gets his happy ending. He ends up married to Brogan when they go to Vegas with the family for Briar and Forrest’s wedding. Brogan panicked but Maddox sees it as his chance to show her that she is the woman for him. He helps her overcome her worries and he shows her love, compassion and understanding. He also gives her the family that she doesn’t have. I loved the book.

Gahh, I love the Everlasting Ink men so much! I was really excited for Maddox and Brogan’s book, and it was definitely a cute one. That said, I was expecting more, not just in length, but in the storyline too. I was obsessed with the last book and was hoping for that same addictive pull, but this one just didn’t quite hit the same. Still, I really enjoyed it! It was such a light, sweet read, and these men are just the dreamiest, total fairytale vibes. And Maddox? No different. He was the sweetest!

Finished in one sitting!! I absolutely adore this Everlasting Ink world. Maddox is such a happy go lucky guy and he is just so swoonworthy. He and Brogan have been pining after each other for a while and never acted on it. Fate steps in and they end of married after a fun night in Vegas. Maddox was thrilled because it gave him the chance to be with Brogan but she didn’t really see it that way at first. She was so guarded and didn’t believe that Maddox would stick around for the long haul. Maddox knew he had to prove to her that they belonged together. That man knew what he was doing! He was patient, caring, and attentive to the upmost degree. I mean how can a man be that perfect?! It’s not fair! The way he loved Brogan and kept showing up for her was heart warming and finally Brogan let him in and gave him her heart. These two were just so good together and I love how Brogan was so easily brought into the Everlasting Ink family. No question that these two were meant to be.

I have been absolutely LOVING this series by Kaylee and I couldn't wait until we were able to read Brogan's story and it did NOT disappoint! Brogan and Maddox are one of my favorite couples! Kaylee is the master of happy endings!

If you haven’t read any part of Everlasting Ink, now is the time! I have wanted to read Maddox for so long, good lord did she deliver!

Maddox is the quiet in the corner waiting for Brogan and man, he gets her in the best of ways!

Six month timeline to fall in love? Brogan is so closed off, but has watched Maddox from afar since meeting him at the twins birthday.

Can they make 6 months work? When on a timeline of love, or split, what do they do? Only one way for you to find out! Get this and all of Everlasting Ink, now!

I absolutely love this tattoo artist band of friends and the family they have found in each other. These five men are dedicated, fall so hard and fast and never look back.

Maddox and Brogan wake up married in Vegas and Maddox wants to give their relationship a shot (he's already fallen for Brogan). Brogan believes she's broken and is scared to believe Maddox wants her, but they give each other six months to see if they can become something permanent.

Their story is pure fluff. If you're looking for something sweet with few to no drama, this is for you!

I always have a great time with these stories and for once I definitely recommend reading Are you ready?, book 3 in the series, before diving into this one. It will give you more details regarding what happened to Brogan and her twin sister Briar, and why Brogan feels so broken.

Am I ready for Lachlan? Heck Yes!!
