The Invisible Man. Quasimodo. Mister Hyde. The Frankenstein Monster. The Phantom of the Opera. Are these legends friends or foes?
Leo feels like his life is a mess. Just when he’s ready to give up, the vampire Annabelle attempts to give him hope with stories of her past adventures.
Explore the world of the Foresight Chronicles with multiple stories of triumph and tragedy, where vampire children confront hordes of monsters, while they learn what it’s like to be human… and inhuman.
Scott Bryan is the author of the Foresight Chronicles series. Currently he’s spending a lot of time as the scribe for a three-hundred-year-old vampire child, sharing tales of her endless battles with Dracula across history.
He also searches the Multiverse, looking for fascinating narratives to share with this world. He’s met lost fantasy creatures, demonic beings, time travelers and Multiversal agents, each of whom have offered him stories to tell.
When not creating worlds, Scott generates technical drawings, enjoys life with his wife and children, collects stories and figures of heroic champions, and walk his fierce warrior Chihuahua.
Scott is a member of the League of Utah Writers, Infinite Monkey division.
The Foresight Chronicles: Dark Tales isn't your typical vampire story, and thank goodness for that. In just under 100 pages, Scott Bryan delivers an imaginative, eerie, and unexpectedly heartfelt anthology that feels like something pulled from a dusty cabinet of forbidden curiosities.
Annabelle, a vampire child who’s seen centuries pass, serves as the thread through these stories, and what a narrator she is. Equal parts chilling and tender, her perspective adds a unique emotional layer to tales that include everyone from Frankenstein’s Monster to The Phantom of the Opera.
What stands out is the blend of gothic horror with real humanity. These aren’t just monster stories, they’re explorations of grief, fear, loyalty, and identity, all told with a literary wink that teen readers (and honestly, adults too) will appreciate.
Bryan writes with a quiet confidence, letting his characters' scars and victories do the heavy lifting. It's clear this is just the beginning of a larger universe, and I, for one, am eager to return.
Perfect for fans of classic monster lore who crave something new. Think Penny Dreadful meets Miss Peregrine, with a whisper of Tim Burton.
A good short story to hold you over until book 3 is published. This has a good message. Annabelle comes across Leo who is about to commit suicide by jumping off a bridge. He feels that no one cares about him. She shares some of her experiences with him and helps him realize that things will get better. Also, Jekyll & Hyde, Quasimodo, and The Phantom of the Opera are part of Annabelle’s experiences. Definitely recommend this series.
