Bridesmaid for Hire #3

Bridesmaid by Chance

Rate this book
Hudson Hopper is in some trouble. After doing his business partner, Jude, a favor by hiring his younger sister, Sloane, Hudson very quickly finds out that she is a massive distraction―especially since she's now his assistant.

But when they are confronted with a situation where Sloane is told to fill in as a bridesmaid for one of Hudson's business partners, she comes up with an equal trade. She'll be a part of the regency wedding--corset and all--if Hudson marries her. Sloane knows the value of the trade, he needs her, and she needs his wedding ring to get her into a high-society club that will further her career.

It's an instant no from Hudson at first, but when she convinces him that no one will find out, including her brother, and he will benefit from the marriage too . . . well, Hudson finds himself saying "I do."

When I was in high school I occasionally read books but was consumed by other teenage things so I didn't take the time to appreciate a good book on a cloudy day, wrapped up in a blanket on the couch. It wasn't until I received a Kindle for Christmas one year that my world completely flipped upside down. When looking for books I came across the Contemporary Romance genre and was sold and I haven't turned back since.

You can either find my head buried in my Kindle, listening to inspiring heart ripping music or typing away on the computer twisting and turning the lives of my characters while driving my readers crazy with anticipation.

I currently reside in beautiful Colorado Springs where the sun is always shining and there is a trail waiting to be hiked on every corner. I share a lovely and warm home with the love of my life and my five, four-legged children.

Ughhh okay. This book had me screaming, laughing, facepalming, and at one point—questioning my own life choices.

Let’s get the good stuff outta the way first:
The humor? FUNNY AF. I was genuinely cackling at parts (the etiquette class scene? wild). Meghan Quinn’s got a gift for banter and weirdly specific scenarios that make you laugh so hard your stomach hurts. There’s charm here. There’s energy. There’s that signature MQ chaos.

BUT— and it’s a big but (and I cannot lie)… some stuff? Was just too much. Like, toe-curling, hide-under-the-blanket cringe. Not the good romcom kind either. We’re talking secondhand embarrassment that made me wanna evaporate.

Let’s talk Sloane.
At first I liked her! She was chaotic, flirty, unbothered. A menace in the best way.
But then she started throwing herself at Hudson like it was an Olympic sport??? GIRL. WHERE IS YOUR SPINE. I wanted to shake her. Like, yes girl, go get your man, but also… maybe stop humiliating yourself every five minutes???

Now Hudson?
He’s a NO from me. Cold, distant, and his entire personality is “I almost kissed you but didn’t.” Like??? 70% of this book is him going, "I can’t." Sir, then stop TOUCHING HER like you CAN.

Also, why was the “comedy” sometimes just gross? Like embarrassing in a way that made everyone in the room look bad. At one point I genuinely felt bad for Hudson because the public humiliation was non-stop. Meghan Quinn has this thing where she drags her male leads through the mud to the point you stop seeing them as book boyfriend material and start seeing them as walking red flags. Brody from Book 1 still haunts me.

And THEN. The third-act conflict?
Don’t even get me started.
Hudson leaves Sloane alone. In a foreign country. Playing bridesmaid to a stranger. While he's off sulking about feelings and not answering her messages.
He has a DRIVER to “help” her.
A. DRIVER.
Sir, this isn't Uber. This is your wife.

If I were Sloane? Divorce. IMMEDIATELY.

So yeah.
Loved the laughs. Loved the energy. HATED the emotional whiplash.
Characters were insufferable. The cringe was real. The grovel was weak. The vibe? Messy.

Read it if you like:
LOL-level banter
Wild, high-energy romcoms
Characters who self-sabotage every chance they get
Slow burns that take TOO LONG to ignite
✨Absolute chaos✨

Avoid if you hate:
2nd hand embarrassment
Repetitive “will-they-won’t-they” nonsense
Heroes who act like robots with trauma
Heroines who mistake desperation for determination

Overall? I laughed. I cringed. I yelled.
Would I recommend? Ehhhh...
Only if you’re emotionally stable enough to survive the cringe.

3/5 – A romcom you’ll either devour or yeet across the room.
Still love you Meghan, but this one was a hot mess in heels.

Final verdict: fun but frustrating.
Come for the chaos, stay for the drama, lower your expectations.

Meghan nailed it once again with the banter, she's just an auto buy author for me. I'm obsessed with these far fetched romcoms. 🤭 I always find myself constantly laughing out loud when I read her books.

When they signed up for the wrong etiquette class, I couldn't stop cackling 😭 The constant push and pull got a bit repetitive towards the end and Hudson was a total ass when he wanted to, which broke my heart for Sloane 😭 but he could also be the sweetest man 🥹

“This isn’t fake dating, Sloane. This is a goddamn marriage. You’re my wife. The expectations are different.” 💍💖🤭✨

I think this might just be my favourite book of the series 🤭

It started as a favor to a friend - Jude’s sister, Sloane, needed some help finding a temporary job to gain some experience straight out of college. Being an upstanding guy Hudson offered her a job at his company. It was a win-win for everyone. He needed help. She needed help. A solution was formed…

First stop: assistant
Second stop: hired bridesmaid
Third stop: fake marriage

I am telling you, Meghan knows how to write female leads…Sloane is yet another BRILLIANT woman; she is sass personified 💃 I absolutely loved her big personality and the way she took no nonsense from her boss/fake-husband. She was the one to come up with an equal trade, which resulted in their fake marriage. And, she wasn’t taking no for an answer…this girl means BUSINESS 🤭

“No,” he says quickly and then clings to my leg. “Don’t leave.” “Okay,” I say softly, a smile playing on my lips—not because I’m happy about him being sick but because…men are such babies." 🤣

I had so much fun reading this book, and I would say most of that enjoyment was down to Sloane. She had me laughing out loud! The relationship between her and Hudson was like a slow burning fire ❤️‍🔥 I was just sitting back waiting for it to burst into flames 🔥

"This is a major flaw, a flaw that is eating away at my self-control. Second by second, I feel myself falter. I feel myself give in.”

And that it did… 🤭💖✨

As for Hudson…well, he is a screw-up…a BIG screw-up! ‘Nough said 😒

Moving on to better things, as usual Meghan gives us something a little deeper to think about… 💭 “Always business. That’s you. Business, business, business. What happens when you’re on your deathbed one day looking back at your life? Are you going to be happy with all of your business-focused choices? Or are you going to think back and say, remember that time I married my business partner’s sister and had the time of my goddamn life? Don’t you want those memories?” 🤔

Overall, this was a very entertaining and enjoyable read. It brought EVERYTHING to the table - workplace romance, fake marriage, slow-burning, age gap, grumpy x sunshine ☀️ And, for the most part it was a joy to read. I just had to minus 1/2 a 🌟 for Hudson being an idiot 🙃 But, overall, a brilliant and absolutely hilarious 😆✨

“Do you want me to find you adorable?” “As long as you find me, that’s all I care about.” 🥰💖✨

4.5 🌟🌟🌟🌟💫

I finally finished this book, and let me tell you what a pleasant surprise it was; I was laughing so hard I had actual tears in my eyes. It's my favorite in the series by far. It's more on the spicy side but easily skippable. It was Meghan just being Meghan, the amount of second-hand embarrassment you'd get is, oh my god!!! You definitely should not be reading this in public, especially if you're a hijabi-wearing earphones; ppl will 💯% think you're crazy from the amount of smiling and laughing you'll be doing. If you ever want to read it give the audiobook a try it's phenomenal

I don’t even know how to express how much I loved and adored this book. It had me in giggles at start, and then laughing out loud at different parts throughout. No sir. You are not a pervy grandpa lol. I had only meant to read a bit the first night I started and ended up staying up wayyyyy past my bedtime because I could not press pause on the audio book. Loved the nose kisses. Loved the tension and banter. Just soooo good. The heat between Hudson and Sloane made my chest squeeze with anticipation waiting for that slow burn to combust. And combust it did !!! If you want a feel good romance with amazing heat and feel good fun, you just found it !!!

Favorite quote: The pervy fucking grandpa over here - that's me - couldn't stop feeling his heart beat just a touch faster anytime she was in the room.

Audiobook: Vanessa Edwin (Narrator) , Jason Clarke (Narrator): Just perfect. Like if you had to fan cast this book these narrators were it !!! They were able to bring the heat !! The humor and the banter was amazing when brought to life in this audio book. I loved the changes in POV and it was very easy knowing who was speaking and being immersed in the story. I tend to listen to my audio books at 1.5 to 2.0 and I listened to this one at 1.5 and it was enjoyable and easy to follow at every speed. This is a book I very much enjoyed and would recommend as an audio book.

This book was a DNF for me at 20%. I deeply appreciate the eARC, but this was just not my cup of tea.

I find that with the marriage of convenience trope that a few different things have to align for me to buy into it and here, there were one crazy scenarios for it to ever align. Our male main character, Hudson, is very rich and needs his business to do well. In order for that to happen, Hudson needs to win over a potential client and that potential client's future wife needs a bridesmaid so, naturally, he offers up his assistant, Sloane. Ok, that is fine on its own. But the potential client's father-in-law doesn't like Hudson so Hudson gets invited to the wedding to win the father-in-law over but he can only do so if he spends time with said father-in-law at a fancy British club that ONLY lets in married people. Ok, we are starting to push it here (does daddy dearest not spend time anywhere else?). And Sloane needs money to buy her current rented house so the marriage and bridesmaid ship is a way to get that money. Again, back to fine on its own. And Hudson is in business with Sloane's brother and they can't tell him BUT Hudson mandates that Sloane live with him so that people believe they are married, so some people can know about the marriage and other people can't, I guess. For me, that is just too many layers of convoluted to get to the marriage and forced proximity part of the story.

Hudson also seems to only like Sloane because she is hot. Nothing about liking any part of her personality. Sir, you are going to potentially ruin your friendship with her brother over her being hot? There are so many hot random women to pick from at least tell us you like something else about her!

Sloane has a stream of consciousness approach to life where she says everything she thinks which is sometimes super funny and sometimes super cringe. She, at one point, eats a banana horizontally in front of him and when he asks why, she says, "because I know you'll be thinking of me sucking your dick if I eat it normally." Huh. What. Just eat the banana normally, my love, it'll be fine.

Not for me, but happy reading to others!

This is the second book i read from this author and Im love it! How long it is, how detailed and captivating it is as well! I loved the story and how it progressed even the hardships the two main caracters faced because that just makes the story interesting. I almost cried in the last chapters because i could feel the pain and anger from the caracters and how it seemed like there was no future for them, when in reality there was and the suffering they faced was due to how much they loved each other despite the mistakes made in the past.

The Soulmate Equation and Bridesmaid By Chance are fighting to see which one is the worst books I’ve read in 2025 so far!

This book really sucks I can’t lie to you I’m sorry-

「 ✦ 𝐒𝐋𝐎𝐀𝐍𝐄 𝐆𝐀𝐋𝐋𝐎𝐖𝐀𝐘 ✦ 」

ׂ╰┈➤ (𝘧𝘤: 𝘮𝘦𝘨𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘢.𝘴𝘩 𝘰𝘯 𝘐𝘎)

My god was she annoying!!! Like girl how are you going to be offended when someone calls you young (which spoilers you literally are) then pull dumb shit in London???!!!

AND MY GOD GIRL HAVE SOME DIGNITY!!!! Your husband did something unforgivable (in my opinion) and you forgive him that quickly?!??

I feel like I see Sloane in me, so I see why I’m an annoying person-

「 ✦ 𝐇𝐔𝐃𝐒𝐎𝐍 𝐇𝐎𝐏𝐏𝐄𝐑 ✦ 」

ׂ╰┈➤ (𝘧𝘤: 𝘈𝘯𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘢 𝘋𝘦 𝘗𝘢𝘰𝘭𝘪)

I don’t like this man! 1. I had a hard time trying to find a fc for him bc I feel like there’s someone that looks like the illustration of him! 2. All this man does is apologize BUT THEN DOES SOMETHING TO HURT SLOANE AGAIN!!!

He’s basically toxic I don’t know what else to say. He just finds an excuse for what he does and then goes back to being a douchebag.

Did I mention that I didn’t like the book?

What is up with Meghan Quinn that she has to embarrass the MMC?!?! To some it may be funny but to me it just irritates me!

The club scene was just so embarrassing and I was mad for Hudson! Then there’s that class scene which I was mad for Hudson too but he set himself up for it!

What Hudson did was unforgivable. I don’t know how Sloane forgive him bc if he did that to me. Divorce immediately.

I needed Jude to punch the hell out of Hudson.

Jude is better than me bc if I were him I would not be talking to Hudson or Sloane for a long time-

Hudson is also a hypocrite bc why did he get mad at Hardy for dating Everly but Hudson did something worse.

The scene with the father??? Absolutely not. What he did was unforgivable.

Sloane annoyed me I can’t stress that enough.

I didn’t like them together I don’t see the pairing but whatever I guess…

Yes Sloane is young! Girl we get it you went through a hard time but you still don’t know that much about life you’re literally still 22 yrs old!!!

Overall, 2.5/5 stars ★

I did not like the book. I did not like that characters. I don’t like how Meghan Quinn has to embarrass the MMC/ Make the FMC embarrass the fuck out the MMC.

I want to read another one of her books especially a new release but after this book… I’m going to wait.

This book actually had me laughing out loud! There were so many scenes that were so hilarious. Meghan Quinn books tend to be quite funny most of the time. The banter and tension here was also quite good.

Some parts though I just didn’t vibe with. The romance was good but I didn’t necessarily love how Sloane went about getting Hudson’s attention, it felt a bit childish at times.

I had a good time reading this for the most part but around like 60% I got a bit bored with the repetitiveness and my ranking went down. It’s definitely a fun and entertaining read though.

As always, Meghan Quinn has given us a laugh out loud, feel-good rom-com with plenty of banter, tension and spice. I loved this audiobook from start to finish.

Sloane is the executive assistant to Hudson, her brother’s best friend and business partner. Hudson has a moment of panic during a business meeting where a client is in search of a replacement bridesmaid and he volunteers Sloane to fill the role. They soon realise that they are both in a bit of a pickle. Sloane needs money to buy the house she is currently renting and Hudson needs a wife to gain access to an exclusive club in London to finalise a deal with the same client. They decide that they can help each other out and enter into a business deal to solve both of their problems. It’s not long until they begin to truly get to know one another and things become cloudy and feelings are involved.

Hudson and Sloane are the perfect match that no one saw coming. The banter is so good that I was laughing out loud from the very first chapter. The slow burn was intense - will they, won’t they.

Hudson started off as a grumpy business man where his career was his main focus. He didn’t care for much else. I really enjoyed seeing another side to him where he was carefree and fun. He had so much growth throughout the book. Sloane really showed him that it’s okay to take time out for himself and enjoy life. He cared so much for Sloane - before he even realised his feelings - he was protective and fiercy loyal.

Sloane was so fun. Her humour had me giggling and kicking my feet. She was the sunshine to her grumpy husband. I loved her strength, loyalty and confidence. Badass FMC.

Jason Clarke and Vanessa Edwin done a fantastic job at narrating. When either of them are narrating, I know it’s going to be a good time.

Highly recommend this book - and series - for those who are looking to escape into a fun rom-com to lighten the mood and make you laugh out loud.

I was beyond thrilled to read the third and final book of this crazy series. I could wait to see what wacky adventures Hudson would embark on. I enjoyed the slapstick raunch comedy and one line zingers. The constant banter between Sloan and Hudson had me laughing so hard that my belly hurt. There is so much sarcasm and sexual innuendos that makes this book not for the faint of heart. There was so much delicious tension caused by forced proximity and fake marriage between Sloan and Hudson.

Jason is Hudson. No other narrator could bring to life this character. Jason poured his heart and soul into this character and I felt every single ounce of emotion that Hudson went through in this story. I felt everything from the undeniable anger towards his situation with his father to the abundance of love he had for Sloan. Vanessa is one of my top female narrators and she completely knocked it out of the park with Sloan. Them together as a duet is *nose kiss*

I did have a few issues with this book. One being how big of an issue the author made the age gap. Sloan and Hudson’s connection made them feel as if they were emotionally on the same level and their chemistry was undeniable, so to me their age shouldn’t have played a big role in the story. Another one was having the same fight or conversation over again. The repetition was exhausting and frustrating. My final issue was the last couple chapters of the book. It was a complete mess. I felt that some character's actions were unfair or the story and some scenes didn’t feel necessary.

Overall I enjoyed the whole series, but this book wasn’t my favorite. The humor was on point, but I didn’t enjoy the drama of the story.

Thank you to Good Girl PR for the ALC in exchange for an honest review.

Hudson Harper hires Sloane as his assistant, doing a favor for his business partner, Jude, who also happens to be her older brother. What he doesn’t expect is how much of a distraction she’ll become. When one of Hudson’s colleagues needs a last minute bridesmaid, Sloane is asked to step in. But she has a counteroffer. She’ll do it, on one condition. Hudson has to marry her. At first, he refuses, but when she assures him that no one will ever find out and that the arrangement benefits them both, Hudson finds himself saying “I do.”

So admittedly, I went into this book not knowing what to expect since I hadn’t read the previous books in the series but that didn’t hinder my experience at all. From the moment I saw the email about the ARC opportunity and read the synopsis, I knew I had to apply and now I’m even more eager to read the rest of the series. What really made this story stand out for me was the humor. I love a romance with banter that makes me laugh out loud and to say that this one delivered on that front would honestly be an understatement. The scene where Hudson accidentally signs them up for the wrong etiquette class actually had me in tears from laughing so hard. Beyond the comedy, the chemistry between the leads was fire. The tension, the spice… 👀

This book was everything and now the rest of the series has officially been added to my never ending TBR.

Man the banter in this book is 🔥 the chemistry Hudson and Sloane was sooo good. Who doesn't love a good fake marriage? I really liked that Sloane was the one who proposed to Hudson.

Sloane is up there in my top FMC characters. Her personality was so much fun! Like her nervous babbling. Hudson is grumpy and carries everything on his shoulders. I loved reading their growth and their relationship development.

This might be my favorite series by Meghan. Def recommend! Thank you @hambright_pr and @meghanquinnbooks for the gifted ebook and audiobook.-Ash

First and foremost- a HUGE thank you to Hambright PR and Meghan Quinn for an advanced copy of this audiobook. I think this just became my favorite romcom book! Although this wasn't a short book (it is almost 500 pages, over 14 hours on audio), I listened to it in one day. I just couldn't turn it off. I was cracking up, giggling, and kicking nonstop. I didn't read the first 2 books in this series and still enjoyed it as a standalone. But after how much I enjoyed this, I will be going back and reading or listening to the first 2! The duet narration for this book was spectacular! I can not recommend this book enough if you are looking for and/or love a spicy romcom!

Again, if I could choose an infinite amount of stars on here for this one.. I WOULD.

I listened to an ALC of this book and it BLEW ME AWAY. The story was absolutely amazing. I laughed so hard I cried, and there were moments that I did in fact cry! The way the audiobook narrators, Jason & Vanessa, showed so much emotion in this ALC was OUTSTANDING! Easily my favorite audiobook ever.

Hudson & Sloane are easily the sexiest and funniest couple I have read about yet.

💛 Never in a million years did I think I would ever find someone like her. 💛

Nothing beats a Meghan Quinn romance. This book beautifully portrays two opposites coming together and how the right person can inspire growth in ways you never expected. I loved Sloane’s character—her giddiness had me laughing so hard—and I adored watching her crack Hudson’s shell, seeing him fall for her, and finally give in. That man's willpower deserves a medal, haha. 🥇

This book is proof of why I’ll never stop recommending Meghan Quinn to everyone I know—and why I’ll ALWAYS turn to her when I need a comfort read.
The banter? Bantering.
The love? Giggle-and-kick-your-feet worthy.
The characters? Quirky in the best way.
And the spice? Honestly, Mother Meghan deserves her own level on the scale—because she knows exactly how we like it. 😮‍💨

❤️Thoughts❤️
This is now my favorite Meghan Quinn book ( I say that each time). Sloane is such a fun FMC. I love her quick witty and her ability to speak her mind without a filter (even if it got her into some trouble). Sloane was up for any challenge, including marrying her boss and being volunteered to be a bridesmaid for hire. Poor Hudson never stood a chance when he hired Sloane as a favor to his business partner, and her older brother, Jude. The interactions between Sloane and Hudson after they are married are so funny. From the aftermath of too much champaign, the etiquette class, and croquette match, I was dying of laughter. This was not the audiobook to listen to in public. I was laughing out loud so much. The series is so funny, but this one was the best. I loved the growth that Hudson’s character experienced, and there was a moment that had me tearing up. I was swooning over the “my wife” and “mine” moments. Hudson is the best book husband yet.

The duet narration by Jason Clarke and Vanessa Edwin was absolutely perfect. They really brought the main characters, and side characters to life. This was perfection!

📚Blurb📚

Things get more complicated when Hudson volunteers Sloane to fill in as a bridesmaid for a potential client, and she agrees…with certain stipulations. She’ll be a part of the Regency wedding—corset and all—if Hudson marries her. Okay, this book is a riot. I love Meghan's writing all the time but this one had me in absolute stiches. Hudson and Sloane are freaking perfect and I love that woman and her sass so dang much.

I am a sucker for a marriage of convenience and these two made me love this trope even more. Hudson Hopper and his
"my wife" vibes were absolutely on point. He’s so reserved and grumpy and tortured about not being able to “have”
Sloane and she truly takes no prisoners in taunting him after they enter into a fake marriage

✨Marriage of Convenience
✨Best Friend's Sister
✨Forced Proximity Grumpy/Sunshine
✨Workplace Romance
✨Age Gap

I swear these two and their inner monologue should not be consumed in public, because I could not contain my laughter.

It was awkward and funny and at its core it had so much heart… which is just quintessential MQ storytelling at its best.

I also did this one on audio and if you can, listen to this one. Jason Clarke and Vanessa Edwin did a fantastic job with this duet audio and I had an absolute blast listening to this one.

I swear Meghan gets funnier and funnier with each and every book.

The final book in the bridesmaid for Hire series! We follow Sloane and Hudson. In typical MQ fashion, a hilarious mistake results in a secret marriage of convenience that is mutually beneficial for both parties. There are so many funny scenes that will have you rolling (the etiquette class!!) and the spice will make you sweat (Chapter 20 🥵🥵). While there's a 13 year age gap between the characters, they both have some immaturity they need to grow out of, and their individual character development from start to finish is well done! A definite must for your tbr!

Can I just say WOW! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I really wasn’t sure how It was going to compare to the previous two in the series but hands down Hudson & Solane were my favorites! Meghan always knows how to make me giggle but I truly did not expect to be crying laughing! (chapter 14 you’ll know exactly what I mean)

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC & ALC! I would 100% recommend this book to all my friends! The audio I will say was narrated perfectly I felt all of the emotions of the characters! High recommend doing the audiobook if you can!

NEW REVIEW ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
“Bridesmaid By Chance” by Meghan Quinn
👰🇬🇧👰🇬🇧👰🇬🇧👰🇬🇧

This is the third book in the Bridesmaid For Hire series, but it is the first one that I read - so it can definitely be read as a standalone. In this, Sloane finds herself in a marriage of convenience while helping her boss to win some important business while attending a wedding in the UK.

Meghan Quinn is the absolute queen of contemporary spicy romance. Her books are absolutely hilarious, and this one is no different. I was laughing out loud the entire time. The banter between the FMC and MMC was top notch, and the story, while far fetched, was entertaining and kept me wanting to pick up the book and find out what was going to happen. I also really liked all of these characters and found myself rooting for their happiness the whole time. I was lucky enough to get to listen to the audiobook and the narration was absolutely perfect. It was a duet and the actors did such a good job. It really enriched the experience. I had such a good time with this one.

I would recommend this book for anyone who likes Contemporary Romance with a healthy amount of spice and the following tropes: Slow Burn; Marriage of Convenience; Brother’s Best Friend; Forced Proximity; One Bed; Billionaire Romance; Touch Her and Die; Age Gap.

Thank you to Hambright PR, Bloom Books, and Meghan Quinn for the advanced copy of this book. My review is my own and is honest.

I love Meghan, but this book -- really this whole series -- has just not been my cup of tea. The whole series has all been too over-the-top slapstick humor for me, and, in this one, I specifically did not like:

-- I thought the FMC was annoying and she wanted everyone to see her as older and mature but never once acted like it.
-- The MMC used aggressive sex as a way to avoid talking about his feelings. Hard pass. He also treated the FMC like total garbage at the end and I was seething.
-- To my point above about over-the-top, they had a date day in London that I think was supposed to be charming and adorable, but I had severe secondhand cringe.
-- The third act breakup was torturous and went on too long. I think at this point though I was just over the whole thing.

Overall, Meghan will 100% still be a go-to author for me, but this series was just a bit of a miss.
