Waiting on Christmas

This Christmas, a billionaire's heart will find its true home.

Hannah

My mom's got cancer and I'm doing the best I can to pay the bills and hold things together while she heals. But when my boss fires me from my job as a waitress in an epic form of public embarrassment, I want to crawl into a hole and never come out. That's when I meet him.

Jack Marrow.

He’s a billionaire with a guilty conscience, and he must be crazy because he buys me the restaurant and then leaves town. Now I have to wait an entire year to see him again. He says he only comes to Willow Harbor on Christmas, and I'm starting to wonder if God sent me an angel in disguise.

Jack

As I watch the waitress with sad eyes get fired, I know I have to do something about it. It doesn’t hurt that she’s the most beautiful woman I’ve ever laid eyes on.

My ‘no falling in love’ rule should hold strong with Hannah Phillips, since I only visit Willow Harbor once a year on Christmas. Surely, only seeing her once a year will be enough to keep me from falling for her.

Or will it?

It doesn’t matter anyway. Once she finds out what I’ve done, she’ll never want to see me again.

*This is a full-length clean Christian romance novel. It is a standalone book with a happily ever after and the next book in the series follows a new couple.

This was my first Tessa Grace book and I loved it. It was also my first Christian romance book. The writing was done so beautifully. Getting to know the characters and their background was done so well.

Hannah’s mom is battling cancer and she is the only one around to help take care of her. She is late to work and the owner Vinny fires her in front of everyone. She is devastated and not sure what she is going to do next when Jack comes outside and offers her a potential job.

Jack has a past and is not looking for love. He no longer believes and his faith was destroyed when his mother passed away. When he meets Hannah, a God loving Christian he is blown away by her but feels he would never be enough for her.

- Christmas romance
- Sweet romance
- Feel good

This book was an emotional one. The FMC Hannah’s mother is ill and she has recently lost her job. However, MMC Jack, who is a billionaire game developer, feels drawn to offering Hannah a job. He has some past issues that he is trying to atone for. But Hannah pays back his kindness tenfold with her kind and caring friendship.

This book is what I look for in a Christmas story- all the feelings and a healthy dose of miracles.

Waiting on Christmas by Tessa Grace, is the first book of the Willow Harbor Series, we begin the story with Hannah Phillips who is going through a difficult time, her mother suffers from cancer and that has led Hannah to work hard to be able to cover the medical expenses that her insurance does not cover and support herself and her mom at the same time, but one day when she arrives an hour late for work at an Italian restaurant, her angry boss fires her and she finds her breaking point and ends up, in a moment of rage, turning a plate of pasta over the head of the one who was his boss. Regretful for her behavior and not knowing what to do now that she has lost her job, Hannah is devastated by what this could mean for her and her mother, but suddenly the man who was at the table where she took the plate of pasta approaches her, mortified she believes that he will come to ask her for the money from her plate, but instead this man asks her to meet him the next day right where she is for a job. Jack Marrow is a billionaire who, when he sees the shy waitress being fired in such an unfair way, decides to help her, only his help ends up being unconventional as he decides to buy the restaurant for Hannah so she can have her job. When Jack leaves Willow Harbor, Hannah can't believe what this total stranger has done for her and sees him as an angel. But Jack doesn't feel even close to an angel, quite the contrary, so he decides that now more than ever his rule of not falling in love must prevail, they won't see each other so often and he can fight against what she awakens in him. But it's easier said than done and when Hannah ends up winning his heart, he will give himself the opportunity to heal his past and continue helping others now with a deeper meaning.
This is a beautiful and sweet love story. The characters are sweet and you will identify with them quickly and live their struggles as if they were your own and you will celebrate their achievements with them and of course you will fall in love with them. This story is full of redemption, faith and love and is ultimately a gift for the heart and of course perfect to prepare you for the Christmas season. Totally, Absolutely and Completely Highly Recommended!

Waiting On Christmas

"Hannah Phillips was the kind of girl who married the high school football star. They lived in a small country house with a white picket fence and had two children and a labrador. She wouldn't go for a tech billionaire with a dark past and a felony conviction."

Waiting On Christmas was a sweet and emotional book filled with trauma, philanthropy, God, and family. Tessa Grace's story was heavy in some areas, with guilt and soul discussions, but it carried an uplifting and hopeful theme throughout the book. Hannah with two N's, was a selfless, hard-working, passionate girl who lived God's word in everything she did. Jack was a tech billionaire whose wealth was made from his mobile game creation, Candy Smash. He made it his entire goal in life to give money and support wherever someone may need it to make amends for a mistake from his past. That led him to buy Hannah the restaurant she had recently been fired from, and a tentative friendship grew from that.

"I think if he was the one God intended for you, then you would have known and said yes instantly. Love is hard, but you should wait for the man you are one hundred percent sure of."

The entire emotional roller coaster Waiting On Christmas took me on was a surprise that I enjoyed. Jack's self-flagellation of his past mistake was a recurring theme that kept the plot moving and changing as I read. Tessa did a great job writing his pain and mental suffering and how Hannah tried her best to get Jack to realize that he needed to let go and let God forgive him and move forward with his life. Everything I read felt real and natural in how things progressed or didn't and how our lives can change quickly. I loved the little Christmas town of Willow Harbor and wished I could visit to attend the Christmas parade and the church concert. Tessa wrote heart-wrenching, emotional battles for the characters that tugged at my heart and prayed for a good outcome.

Thank you, Tessa, for providing me with a copy to read and review. I enjoyed it immensely and recommended it to anyone looking for an inspirational Christmas romance that will tug at your heartstrings and make you appreciate how important family and faith are for a person!

Spice: no spice

What do you get when you combine a philanthropist trying to make up for a dark past, and an optimist who is like “sunshine in the winter”? You get an amazing romance! Filled to the brim with witty banter, amazing characters, a splash of drama, and so much emotion that you’ll be laughing and crying all within the span of about 250 pages! Now this book is a Christian and Faith based and centered book and while I don’t see that as a trigger warning per say I understand that it may not be everyone’s favorite subject to read about and this book is full of scripture and a connection with God.

Now onto my review I really loved reading this book! I felt Hannah was just so relatable from the jump, the taking care of people, the struggling with finding your place in life, the testings of faith and having to fight your way through it! She was just a strong, passionate, character without having to give up on being kind and caring as well! And Jack was in a league of his own. It was so interesting to see the duality of a man who should’ve had it all seeing as he had enough funds to buy anything and everything he could’ve ever dreamed of while rejecting his own happiness in the face of making other happy in order to pay for a past
Sin that loomed over his head like a storm cloud. And watching their romance blossom from a clicked immediately friendship to a jumble of feelings bit of a situation ship to a full blown romance was just an all around fantastic read!

Overall I really enjoyed Waiting On Christmas by Tessa Grace and would definitely recommend it!

Hannah and Jack meet at Vinnie’s restaurant during Christmas and what a memorable first encounter it was. He ends up befriending her and buying over Vinnie’s, and gifting it to Hannah.

Despite Jack’s strong attraction to Hannah, he holds back due to his guilt from a past mistake. I was patiently waiting for the big reveal of why Jack has so much guilt and wow…it was beyond what I imagined. It totally explained the darkness lurking within him and why he felt undeserving of love.

Throughout the first part of the book, I enjoyed their “textpalling” and I loved how their friendship grew and grew. But when Luke returns, and the ghosting starts, it went slightly downhill.

I liked that Hannah never gave up on Jack, even after the big reveal. This was a powerful story reminding me of God’s love for us, that each and everyone of us is forgiven in His eyes. Jack’s redemption story brought tears to my eyes and the ending was perfect.

3.5 ⭐️ but I’ll round up for review sites.

Overall, I really enjoyed the storyline. I thought that Hannah and Jack had a beautiful connection and also some pretty good obstacles thrown in to make the romance that much more of a story.

I think the story of both of them finding themselves in a way that brought them closer to themselves and their faith was beautifully written and communicated throughout the story! Additionally, I loved seeing Jack work through his struggles the entire book and the suspense of why he feels he deserves the darkness he’s been living in.

My biggest critique is that this book sounded and felt very preach-y. I know it’s a Christian romance and I’m Christian. I love my faith and I walk it every day. However, there were parts of this I felt very hot in the face by, and not in a good way. Overall, I enjoyed it - it was a good Hallmark-like holiday release that made me smile and gave me the warm fuzzies. I just wish there was slightly less force behind the faith points.

Oh I hate books that make me cry. No that's a lie. I do like books like that because it shows such amazing writing. Omg the tears were flowing like crazy 😭😭 I may not believe in the same things, but that doesn't stop me from enjoying a well written story about finding forgiveness and faith. This book was beautiful. I love the way faith was shown in the story. Little nudges. Signs that could be missed. Hannah is sunshine. Jack is a storm needing his center. He was adrift due to a horrible accident. A mistake that cost him dearly. I couldn't stop crying when he kept running away from Hannah. I begged her to keep fighting for him. I begged him to fight for himself, for her, for the faith his mother had. This story had everything. All the christmas vibes, the sweetness, and a happily ever after

4 Star Review Waiting On Christmas by Tessa Grace

Tessa Grace is a new author to me and I am surprised I have not come across this author before.

I love stories set around Christmas, it’s a time for family and friends to come together.

This is Hannah and Jack’s story and one I enjoyed. They didn’t meet under the best of circumstances in Willow Harbor but billionaire stepped up and brought her a restaurant.

Jack never planned to fall for Hannah, but fate had other plans. Will these two come together and in doing so get temblor happily ever after?

One click and find out.

what a Joy

To read this book. I know it’s too Christian for some people but for me it was perfect. Jack and Hannah (with two Ns) are perfect for each other. It took a long while and. Lot of baggage to get to the end but both God and they prevailed. I could see why this book was going where it did from the beginning and it was a perfect example of God’s saving grace. It was a perfect book for the start of the Christmas season and gives you much to think about.

First time reading Tessa Grace. Loved the pacing of the book. She did an excellent job with the character of Jack relaying his past trauma and the emotions of it. However would have loved a bit more substance to Hannah with two N’s.

Did find some parts cringe worthy, as a follower of Jesus myself, I think there was bit of over explaining and a tad bit preaching.

Overall good read! Worth reading!

This book was way more than I was expecting. The cover and title had me prepared for a fluffy little Christmas romance but the deep spiritual plot lines were a beautiful surprise. The characters were well written and I enjoyed the time spent with each of them.
Jack was a great character and I enjoyed the banter.
The whole story was a good mix of humor faith and romance. Easiest 5 star rating of the year.

Very sweet!

I thoroughly enjoyed this story! It was a very sweet and precious romance. I also liked how even though Hannah and Jack started liking each other pretty early on, it still felt like a slow burn. Their easygoing banter felt very real. Overall, a great first Christmas read of the season!
