The second of my 12for12 for 2026.

Aside from the enjoyable Kelly Thompson run, I've not read any Deadpool and this volume didn't start well for me.

I found the first arc with the dead presidents ridiculous and that was down to the weird tone. It was both wacky and ultraviolent and I didn't feel the stakes in the story.

I liked the second arc much more, the stakes and consequences carried more weight and I felt it was tonally more consistent. The silly retro issue that kicks it off was fun; it was ridiculous but the execution in art and writing worked for me.

There's another silly retro issue that forms a fun 2 part story with a running gag through it.

I loved the third arc! There are elements of the story seeded in the previous arc and second retro issue. This one really dives into Deadpool's past and character, there's an emotional weight to the story while still having jokes.

Overall I did enjoy this volume and I'm certainly quite curious to find out more about the character.

Real heartfelt story with this volume, an interesting part of Deadpools backstory and some of the trauma he’s dealing with.
