Grace
GRACE
Grace captures history with a sense of style. Reliving a past while enlightening a future. When Sarah interviews her neighbor Grace, she uncovers poems that Grace had written when she was a young girl. There were poems Grace had written throughout her life that brought tears to Sarah’s eyes and some that brought a smile to her face. Sarah was able to feel Grace’s pain reading the poems Grace wrote about her husband and the poems written to capture stories from the headlines, as only Grace knew best to capture them.
The story includes poetry written after the suicide of my brother, after September 11, the Sandy Hook shooting, and everyday life that needs a little boost spiritually. I tried to incorporate a bit of everything into the emotional side when writing the poems so they could help me, or someone else, heal from a painful life event. My peers that have read the book replied with reviews stating how the poetry helped brighten their day, helped them remember how precious life can be and how quickly it can change, and how important it would be for others to read so they too can begin to heal.
Sarah is a young girl who is struggling with life. Her parents each work different shifts and she barely sees them. When she does get the opportunity it is a brief glance with basic eye-contact and a quick “hello”. She is struggling in school with her grades; for the simple fact that she fails to turn her assignments in on time, not because she does not know the work. Her struggle is more along the lines of authority but shows in her ability to follow rules. Her English teacher asks her to interview an adult and use that report as extra credit to bring her grade up where it needs to be for college entry applications. Sarah interviews her best friend Grace.
When Sarah begins the interview process, it is brief and really is going nowhere, but very mundane in nature. Sarah’s hobby and skill that she is best at includes writing. She wants to make a good impression with the interview for her friend and for her grade, so she realizes she has to dig deeper into Grace’s past. During the interview, Grace realizes that she needs to share more with Sarah and retrieves a shoebox full of poetry and tidbits of paper with her past written on each piece; birthdays, names, places, events, photos, and other relics of her life. Grace shares this shoebox with Sarah.
Sarah thumbs through the entire box and each poem is read with Grace; a story is built from Grace’s life events that help Sarah’s future. They spend the day going through the shoebox and sharing stories. Sarah writes to her publisher that helps her with her writing and asks that she review a couple of Grace’s poems to help try to get them published for her.
Sarah soon realizes that Grace kept these poems in her shoebox because society had a problem with her sharing them. She realized that being a Christian meant that she had to keep these to herself and Sarah gets furious when she realizes this. When Sarah writes the letter to her agent asking her to review the poems written by Grace.
My purpose for writing this book was to show that everyone has their own reason for speaking to their God and this should not be taken from them no matter where they are, even publically. Granted the naysayers who do not believe in a God will disagree, but even Christians have rights and we should be allowed to display those rights just like they are. We should not have to hide what we feel; it is obvious the naysayers aren’t hiding their feelings. Just like the last paragraph of the book states… “Nobody” can keep you from being “somebody” in the eyes of the Lord, so reach out to Him and share everything He has to offer you. He is there waiting for you, even if others feel the need to take Him away.

I have a full time day-to-day job that takes up a lot of my time, but it does involve reading so that is a big benefit; I review medical records and make sure the information is accurate.
Writing is one of my biggest accomplishments and I am enjoying it every step of the way. My stories can be anything from Christian fiction, children's stories, to self-help/how-to guides, and not limited to any one genre. I lie awake at night struggling with my thoughts about what to add to my current work in progress, the future works my mind tells me to start, and how to get what I have written “out there” for the world to read.
I started writing poems when I was just a little girl and short stories to a degree. I never did much with anything I wrote other than read it a few times and then put it away. Over the years, everything I had written was lost or destroyed, but the memories I had still lingered on in my mind. I eventually went on to college seeking an English major. I have always been intrigued by words and the meaning they have.
My inspiration to write comes from life and everything it has thrown at me over the past 40+ years. We all struggle with things deep within us and outside of us that intrigues our senses enough to want to tell the world about it; why not share what stimulates us and sparks our emotions through a book.

This is a story about a young girl, Sara, who loves to write. And about how Sara found the true purpose and value of her writing after interviewing her older and wiser neighbor, Grace. Both had written as a way to deal with life, yet neither had shared all the notes, poems, and memories they had collected. Both kept them hidden away in a box, hidden from the world, and more importantly from the ones they loved. Sara’s english teacher asked her to interview someone, then “put their words into a story” in an effort to improve her grade in that class. Little did Sara know that her interview with Grace would improve more than her grade. The interview lasted all of that Saturday, the day they chose for the interview. Grace hoped Sara’s love for God and her family, the love she was able to write about, would be shared with her family and the world, and that maybe this interview could help Sara do just that. By reading Grace’s healing poems and memoirs Sara found a sense of belonging and purpose for her own writing. She learned that she needed to let her family know how much she loved them. Sara learned that love isn’t love until it is shared, and that sharing that love could heal people’s sorrow and suffering. Grace was a living example of how to love your neighbors, family, and friends, thus Sara got more than a good grade from that blessed Saturday interview. Thank you TL Bliss for providing yet another book that will help young people develop the morals it takes to live a happy life.

Many times there is a profound reason that a person will come into one’s life. It may be for many reasons, and sometimes it will be for both involved.Reading Grace I got the feeling that there was Divine Inspiration here between a young school girl and a middle aged woman. Sarah had her own issues and was struggling with her family and school. Grace, her neighbor had intrigued Sarah and soon she finds out she will be interviewing this woman for a class project, one that will help her failing grades at school. Sarah visits Grace on a Saturday and the interview begins and Sarah had no idea just what was in store for her, and neither had Grace. Grace decides to share a box of poems she has written and kept over the years. These were not just ordinary poems, but a collection of spiritual poems to help a troubled woman cope with so many tragedies. The poems were written not only for Grace but to help others who have been wounded with life’s tragedies. Sarah was destined to be the recipient of these poems as she read each one and it opened up a new meaning in her life.
Grace is a collection of some of the most moving and spiritual pieces ever. There is something for everyone here as you will find solace in one or many of these poems. "Grace" by TL Bliss is a 5 star book. I have to admit that I wasn't really wanting to read it at first before I thought it was a book of poetry but I was so wrong! Yes there are poems in it but the story is so much more! The poems are based on actual events in the author's life even though the characters are fictional. These poems will bring tears! They are wonderful.They really deserved to be shared with the world.
At the end of the story Sarah writes to her editor and I really believe that what she writes is true.
Sarah is struggling in school with her English grade because she doesn't like to follow the rules. Her English teacher has her do an interview for extra credit and she interviews her neighbor Grace. This story is told in both Sarah's and Grace's viewpoint.
The poems are Grace's way to get feelings out that were inside of her. These poems were kept in a little shoebox till Sarah asked for the interview. There are poems for the children killed in Newton, Connecticut on December 14, 2012, and for the terror attacks on September 11, 2011 and a poems for some of Grace's family members and other poems.
