Such a sweet story. I loved his daughter, Cassie, and the extra layer of development she brought to the story. The friend group in this book is great too. The main characters are absolutely lovely.

3.5 stars, rounded to 4

Stella is running away from an ex and hiding out in her favourite hotel on the west coast to try to focus and write her new romance novel. It doesn't help that the hotel happens to have a gorgeous bartender named Brett who caught her eye last time she was here, and whose coat she still hasn't returned. Now, it's up to her to try to find inspiration for her next novel and to see if she's willing to open her heart to the unknown.

*****

This one started off so fun and quirky, but started to fade a bit in the last quarter. I loved Stella's relationships in the small town, as well as her friendship with Andrew, her close bond with Cassie, and how her and Brett had chemistry from day one. Unfortunately, the psychic component and past/current crossover kind of had this fall off for me. I love a good romance with magic woven in, but this was too much of a contemporary romance that pushed psychics and past lives that it just didn't work for me. If it leaned more into the magical realism aspect, instead, I probably would have loved it, but the lines felt a little bit too far the other way.

Otherwise, this was an easy read, the characters were enjoyable, and the small town was quaint and perfect. It can absolutely be read as a standalone, however, I'd still read the two other books in the series first to give more context. If you like loveable and quirky leads, strong friendships, and cozy small towns, this one's for you.

This story was so sweet. The love story between Brett and Stella was a slow burn with banter and a lot of sexual tension. I also loved how the author included Brett's daughter Cassie. Seeing the relationship she built with Stella was beautiful. I also loved the different situations the author included. Shedding light on Stella's stalker situation and how many times cops do not help women unless it gets violent was impactful. She also talks about Cassie's tough situation of being bullied in school and how Stella and Brett help her through this. I would really love another book of Stella and Brett telling us more about what happens in the future between all of them.

Also, if the fairies don't sing a love song for me, I'm going to be extremely disappointed 😂

Thank you Kate Perry and team for letting me read this advanced reader copy!

Favorite funny quote: "I leaned in to sniff the coat. Nope - still turned me on. I'd call him daddy any day" - Stella

Thank you to Hambright PR & Kate Perry for this ARC of My next Colossal Mistake.

Review:

This was an amazingly enjoyable book with several surprises. I liked all of the characters, and I loved the relationship that Brett and Stella have. I also like how Brett tries his very best to be a good father to his daughter, Cassandra.

This was a sweet and funny romance book. I'm glad I read it!

This is the 3rd book in the Rough and Ready series and is the story of Brett and Stella.

Brett is a grumpy, brooding bartender and Stella is a writer who is done making mistakes and is trying to start fresh. With witty banter, a girl squad of all of our dreams and Brett's adorable daughter, this story is delightful and charming. The writing is genuine which brings character depth and growth as the story progresses. There are some touches as past issues for Stella which are well thought out and give a good weight to the story, as well as Cassie's experience with bullying in high school.

This is a sweet story that I recommend for all romance readers that love a well deserved, heartwarming HEA.

his is my third book by this Author and I am so glad I discovered her.

This book follows Stella, who is a romance author. She returns to Rough and Ready to visit her best friend and hid from a persistent ex who won’t take no for an answer. She is looking forward to returning to the Inn she stayed at before and seeing the handsome and infuriating bartender, Brett. It turns out that Brett actually owns the hotel and has a teenage daughter who instantly clicks with Stella.

I loved so much about this book. There were several moments when I laughed out loud while reading. I loved the relationship between Stella and Brent. The relationship that Stella formed with Brent’s daughter, Cassandra is also pretty special. Stella is struggling with the topic of her next novel and her personal life, but when she finds letters written long ago she finds inspiration to try to take back some control and stand up for herself. This was a great read with fun moments and another great book by Kate Perry.

Thanks to Hambright PR and Kate Perry for the opportunity to read this book and leave my voluntary review.

I have really gotten into reading books about authors, so this was a no brainer for me to sign up for.

Although this did take me quite a while to get through, it was a very slow read for me. I liked the main characters but it was just a slow story for me personally.

I did however enjoy the ending so that was a big plus sign for this girl.

My next colossal mistake. Book 3 of the Rough and Ready series.. now that's a great name to a small town.. and I live in California - never knew it was a real thing!

This story follows Stella, an acclaimed best selling author, who runs away to Rough and Ready to get away from her ex.. and runs to a hotel owned by Brett. I love the character and the fact that they are more "mature" characters.. yes older folks can have some smut too in books :)

No spoilers here, but I'd say the back story is pretty cute with how Stella and Brett's story comes full circle. Small hometown feel, funny and smutty! This was such a great and easy read.. 4 stars! Thank you @hambright_pr and Kate Perry for sending me such a fun book to read!

I’m all about the vibes for this book! Like honestly I was/am so obsessed with this book just the vibes alone (the story is great too I promise)
Also it has me wanting to run away and stay in a fancy hotel and find myself/get away!

It’s got all the cute romcom vibes you’d expect but also plenty of steam, and a teenage daughter that I’m just obsessed with!! Plus the instant connection between Stella and Cassandra was amazing!!
Stella is our author FMC who ran away back to the gorgeous hotel to avoid her ex
Brett is the hotel owner and single dad (who she assumed was only the bartender)
Cassandra is his amazing daughter!

There’s just so much that happens! The interactions and all the other characters (quite frankly I love this town) just added so much to the story I know I keep saying this but I really am just obsessed with it!

This was my first book by this author and safe to say down the backlist rabbit hole I go!

I was gifted a copy from Hambright PR but all thoughts are my own!

“No more mistakes,” I told myself firmly. My last mistake had been colossal. Me sitting here instead of in my beautiful home was proof of that…”

Thank you to the Author & Hambright PR! ☀

My Next Colossal Mistake is Stella and Brett’s story, a contemporary romance in the Rough and Ready series of interconnected standalones.

“However, here I was, three weeks later, standing in the hotel where the man who haunted my fantasies worked, because I was trying to get away from another man I never wanted to think about ever again. The last thing I needed was another mistake. My last one was still causing me trouble. I shouldn’t go anywhere near Brett. I was a smart woman. I knew better.”

Likeable and delightfully quirky main and side characters make up the small town, including MCs from other books. In this installment, a bestselling author flees her home in Connecticut, upon a text message from her ex-husband promising a visit to her home.

“In case it wasn’t clear, I didn’t want to see him. EVER. AGAIN. Hence why I left my home practically in the middle of the night after he left a message that he was on his way.”
Her escape plan takes her to Rough and Ready, a small town in California that welcomes her with open arms. Purposely, she books the hotel where Brett bartends, (actually, he’s the owner), if for anything, to flirt with him and feel romantically inspired to write something worthy of proposing to her agent and publisher. What she wasn’t counting on, was the sky falling on her head, knocking some sense and much needed inspiration into her head, and becoming a mentor and shoulder-to-cry-on to an impressionable teenage girl, just when it counted the most.

Themes of female empowerment, from taking control of your own pleasure, self-defense, and being the woman today who your younger self would trust and confide in, are at the heart of this read, as is taking a risk for what she yearns for — whether that’s a shiny new book deal or the rough-around-the-edges MMC (with a thirteen year old daughter who looks up to her like a role model). My Next Colossal Mistake is a feel-good read with fun, memorable characters in a small-town setting, USA!

Overall, a humorous modern day romance told in dual pov and occasionally in mixed media format, that will surely appeal to fans of the single Dad trope and books with strong feminist themes. A nice blending of romantic comedy and women’s fiction/chick lit, made for a great addition to the series!

Book Review: My Next Colossal Mistake by: Kate Perry

This is a first book for me from Kate and I loved it! This book was perfection it’s a small town romance that packs a delightful punch with its laugh out loud banter, palpable chemistry, and Witty fun plot! It has all the feels some elements of mystery and suspense with swoony sexy romance. The characters are charming and lovely.

Stella is wonderful her internal conflict and monologues had me snort laughing!

But Brett toasty marshmallow Brett had me swooning in a puddle on the floor! That’s why this book is my pick for Swoony Sunday! Oh did I mention he is a billionaire single dad who steps in as bartender when the staff needs help!?!? I loved his relationship with his teenage daughter and how Stella was very open and honest not shaming when it came to the questions she was navigating as a teenage girl. We all remember how hard it was I wish I had had a Stella to talk to. This story had a parallel story of the past woven into it. If you ever saw the movie Possession with Gwenyth Paltrow and loved it wanting that vibe this is that vibe!! Lost love letters hidden away for years in the floorboards. A beautiful treasure!

And when I say I binge read this I was up until the wee small hours of the morning unable to put it down. I loved how authentic, raw and real these characters are. I cannot wait to devour more of this series! The found family and wonderful friendships in this story is what I dream of can I move to this town please!

So if you adore toasty marshmallow MMCs who slowly melt for their leading lady while also being a wonderful dad and a wonderful, strong, and charming FMC with palpable chemistry and a great HEA look no further and enjoy your next read right here! And if you’d love a look behind the book and get to know Kate more check out my interview with her on my YouTube channel.

There's something strongly riveting about a story that wears its heart so proudly on its sleeve—My Next Colossal Mistake is completely interesting in the most unpretentious, emotionally generous way. Kate Perry delivers a story filled with humor, enchantment, and that specific aching of vulnerability that we rarely see represented with such perfect precision. Stella is our fiercely witty literary heroine, she's bright in her flaws, beautiful in her cynicism, and secretly begging for optimism. You can feel the beating heart of her every decision, the anguish in her laughter, and her desire in each bitter statement. This doesn't have only an entertaining plot but, it is also really human, and that's where this novel truly is at its best.
.
Brett has stormy eyes, is emotionally cautious, and has a tough demeanor, but he is astonishingly gentle when it means most. He has a calm intensity that gets under your skin, and it's in the silences between his phrases that you may begin to unravel him. The single dad trope is handled here with remarkable elegance—he is not a fantasy hero, but one whose emotional restraint increases every move.
.
There’s an ease to the structure of this book that feels rare—like every scene was designed with purpose, every laugh and sigh placed with the precision of someone who deeply understands how humor and longing connect.
.
My Next Colossal Mistake is a story written with delicious and soaked with a sweetness that is nearly impossible to resist. It's romantic, it's intelligent, emotionally rich, and written with a love that stays long further the last page. Kate Perry's writing style is remarkably compelling that truly brought happiness in every chapter touching my brain and heart in the same time! Quietly, confidently, with a modern yet timeless pace. It is, simply said, an unforgettable and intriguing novel that leaves your heart somewhat more open than it was before.

Utterly charming, chock full of laughs and a dash of outrageous, with wicked hot and totally undeniable chemistry and that touch of magic that only the town of Rough and Ready and its penchant for soul mates can provide! This is just an adorable read with an outstanding mashup of light and fun, past and present, risk and fear, that goes from aww that’s so cute to flames erupting off the pages in seconds, slams into your heart with the sweet connection Stella and Cassandra have, and has you one hundred percent in on the idea that Brett and Stella are two souls meant to find each other again and again. It’s sexy single dad vibes, a romance author who’s on the run, all the found family love and acceptance, multiple lessons on the importance of self-care, and finding the courage to take the fall, and it’s fantastic.
Loved and enjoyed every page of this one! The girl squad is so fabulous in this series and they just continually get better with every book giving you all the outrageous you can handle, laughs, and that if you tell me where the body is I’ll help you get rid of it kind of closeness and support that is priceless. Love the positive, healthy, it’s normal, message and vibe that it gives about self-care and knowing and loving your own body and what you like, and the magic that this little town brings is a tangible feel through the whole book. The sparks, the connection, and the genuine feel to Brett and Stella’s relationship is beyond fabulous and the idea they were together in another life just makes it even better. I love the history that unfolds through a discovery at the hotel, the way Stella treats Cassandra and really sees her, and you can’t get through this read without falling just as in love with Brett as Stella does. Just an incredible, heartwarming, and delightful read!

I need MORE

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Book Besties, I am OBSESSED with "My Next Colossal Mistake" and honestly can't stop thinking about it! Kathia has delivered the perfect small-town romance cocktail—one part laugh-out-loud banter, two parts slow-burn chemistry, with a generous splash of heart that hit me right in the feels.

Stella is exactly the kind of FMC I live for—an author who's sworn off dating after too many romantic disasters (who among us can't relate?). Her internal monologue had me cackling one minute and nodding along the next. But the REAL star of this show? Brett. Tall, grumpy, bartender Brett who's secretly the hotel owner AND a single dad with the world's most adorable daughter. The way he grudgingly falls for Stella while mixing those "tantalizing cocktails" had me swooning hard.

What absolutely sold me was how authentic their connection felt—from their first meeting to their inevitable "oh no, I'm falling for you" moment. The chemistry is FIRE, but it's the little moments that showcase how perfectly imperfect they are together that made me unable to put this book down (seriously, it was 2AM and I had zero regrets).

And don't even get me started on the side characters! The girl squad brings that nostalgic friendship energy we all crave, and the entire town of Rough and Ready feels like somewhere I want to book a one-way ticket to immediately.

If you're looking for a romance that balances sizzling chemistry with genuine heart, features a grumpy hero who melts only for his leading lady, and delivers the most satisfying HEA that will leave you hugging your Kindle—this book needs to jump to the top of your TBR ASAP!

The third book in the Rough and Ready series might just be my favorite yet, but honestly? I'm ready to binge the entire series all over again!

This is Stella and Brett’s story. Such a sweet story. The side characters have become just as much family as the main characters through this series. What one buries in her back yard will have you in hysterics. Another one is a clairvoyant. She can help guide you and is aware of your past lives. Brett’s daughter is an endearing new addiction A thirteen year old teenager. According to the clairvoyant Brett and Stella met in an earlier life and didn’t follow their hearts and are being given a second chance to get right in this one. Brett purchased and brought his grandfathers hotel back to life in the luxury style from its days of splendor. Letters from his grandfathers original intended were found hidden beneath the floorboards of one of the suites. The only one who can actually read the very elaborate cursive handwriting is Stella. The letters backup the comments of their friend indicating this was their second chance at love from a previous life.

Now read the book to find out all the obstacles they run into and if this truly is their second chance at romance or if this is their first chance or if life gets in their way.

I highly recommend this book and series.

My Next Colossal Mistake by Kate Perry was the most epic, passionate romance I've read in a long time, and I'm still screaming within. I feel like I've just come out of a sexy dream filled with toughness, blush, and steamy banter. Stella is my spirit animal—funny, tough, and really relatable in her chaotic love life and writer brain. Don't even get me started on Brett. That man is towering, grumpy, mysterious, and a hidden billionaire. Like, hello, I'm melting just thinking about him and his spicy perfume. I enjoy a nice small-town setting, but this one had added sparkle and passion, making each chapter feel like a scene from a romcom that I didn't want to end.
.
Stella and Brett's conversation made me blush and giggle like a lovesick teenager. It was wonderfully seductive and really addictive. And the way their chemistry exploded off the page had me turning pages as if my life depended on it. The steam was searing and detailed in the finest way possible, as if Kate Perry had said, "Let's make this the most heart-fluttering, toe-curling romance ever." I couldn't breathe every time Brett talked in that low, harsh tone. A single father who is privately wealthy and emotionally serious, come on. This is boyfriend material direct from the romance gods.
.
Alex was such a scene-stealer and her friendship with Stella was everything—loyal, hilarious, and so cozy I wanted to be part of their group chat. The quirky side characters added so much charm and laughter, and I loved how every chapter felt like coming home to your favorite people, only with way more drama and heat. This book was like a glittery romcom wrapped in fire emojis and love notes. I swear I highlighted half the book because the lines were so iconic and romantic.

What comes when you throw together an intensely protective single father, a romance author, a town that seems like gossip and sunshine, and sharp banter? You get My Next Colossal Mistake, an epic spicy, sassy romcom that had me entertained and addicted and I wanted more and Kate Perry delivered more and more until this became my favourite small town read EVER. This is a smartly conceived plot built on the kind of tropes that make your pulse skip a beat—saucy banter, grumpy/sunshine tension, girl gang energy, and just the right amount of "wait, he's a billionaire?" surprise.
.
Stella is deliciously sarcastic and absolutely trying to prevent another relationship disaster. As a writer, she understands how messy love can be—but that doesn't stop her heart from pounding when Brett steps in, all dark eyes and seething mystery. The chemistry between them is a consistent smolder, punctuated by brilliant banter, side glances, and an emotional restraint that makes every interaction feel combustible. Their discussions aren't just flirting; they're warfare in the most wonderful sense, and watching their walls progressively crumble was interesting and steamy!
.
Kate Perry writes with a cheerful brilliance that is clever, entertaining, and emotionally engaging without being heavy-handed. This book had me laughing out loud, sighing dreamily, and taking mental notes on all of the quotes I wanted to remember forever. It's hot, hilarious and beautiful. A love story that stings in all the right places, and softly reminds you that even the most massive mistakes can result in the most beautiful, tender-hearted love. If you want a romantic comedy that feels like a relaxing breeze with secrets and outstanding spicy scenes, this is the one for you.

Kate Perry's My Next Colossal Mistake is the kind of yummy romantic trouble that will make you want to pour yourself a tall drink of tea with honey, fluff your hair, and fan yourself all the way through Chapter 1. This book is lovely and beautiful, the kind of small-town joy that envelopes you. Stella, our beloved author heroine, is a woman after my own heart: clever, determined, and just a little tied up in her own feelings. And Brett Whew, mercy. That towering, grouchy bartender with a warm center and a few shocking secrets hidden behind his flannel, well, he made me clutch my pearls several times. A single father and a secret billionaire, this astonished every part of my body. That man is an example of swoon-worthy goodness.
.
Kate Perry's sexy scenes are not for the faint-hearted. They're gorgeously detailed, tender but bold, and so well-written that you can feel the fire rising right off the page. It's a gorgeous romantic comedy that sparkles like sunlight on lakewater and moves your heart in a dangerous pace, Kate Perry has won my heart and she really knows to design scenes that will grab every cell of your body!
.
If you're looking for a fascinating, smart, and romantic story with equal parts sass, sweetness, and swoon, My Next Colossal Mistake is the perfect book for you. It's a wonderful tangle of humor, heart, and chemistry—a sun-drenched and gloriously swoony escape into a place that seems like home, with characters you'll want to chat about and never get enough of them! Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go reapply my lipstick—I believe Brett just winked at me from chapter 15.

My Next Colossal Mistake is an astonishing heart-stopping romance that wraps small-town mayhem in sass, sparkle, and sun-drenched swoon! Kate Perry constructs a stunning structure of humour and tenderness, building a heroine who is effortlessly intelligent and emotionally elegant! Stella is a dazzling, romantic, and compulsively clever, chaotic, and refreshingly real, with conversations that makes you laugh, cringe, and cheer all at once, her resolution to avoid men seems hopeless the moment she meets Brett, and seeing her attempt to avoid his slow-burning electricity is an unforgettable path that made me feel every product of their chemistry!
.
The plot is beautifully structured, flowing with compelling pace and just enough amount of chaos. It's an outstanding piece of feel-good romance, a cozy, hilarious retreat drenched in golden light and beautiful moments that will make you laugh out loud!
.
Brett is that kind of man who makes you forget your own name, shrouded in mystery, he is swoon-worthy in the most stunning way. His spicy cologne, smirky banter, and hidden billionaire twist were all mind-blowing, he nails a wonderful pair of rough tenderness and quiet seriousness, and Kate Perry develops his character with a design that sends shivers down the page. Brett and Stella's tension is palpable and gloriously swoon-worthy, a slowly entertainment of love and laughter wrapped in a sparkling potion of elegance and steaminess!
.
My Next Colossal Mistake is a cozy, lovely romcom saturated in compelling delight, a delectable vacation that sparkles like sunlight on lakewater. Kate Perry has written an emotionally deep and tremendously entertaining masterpiece novel! The relationship between Stella and Brett is thrilling, the prose is outstanding, and the whole novel is addictive in the most incredible way!

My Next Colossal Mistake is an absolute gem of a small-town romance, brimming with charm, sass, and just the right amount of spice. If you're into swoony bartenders, fiercely relatable female leads, and a story that makes you laugh out loud while clutching your heart, this book needs to be your next read.

Stella, an author with a hilarious inner monologue and a heart full of past dating disasters, is instantly lovable. Her vow to swear off love and focus on her writing career is seriously tested when she meets Brett—tall, dark, grumpy, and unexpectedly irresistible. Brett isn’t your average bartender, though. (Hello, secret billionaire vibes!) The chemistry between them is electric, and the banter? Utterly addictive.

What makes this book shine is its blend of humor, emotional depth, and warmth. The girl squad adds a fun, supportive dynamic that’s #friendshipgoals, and the quirky side characters bring the small-town setting to life. Add in a single dad twist and you’ve got a heart-tugging layer of tenderness that elevates the whole story.

The pacing is perfect, the romance hits all the right beats, and the moments of vulnerability are handled with just enough realism to make your chest ache—in the best way. You’ll root for this couple from the first witty exchange to the final page.

If you’re a fan of sweet and funny romances with depth, delicious slow burns, and emotionally satisfying payoffs, My Next Colossal Mistake is ready to steal your heart.

Kate Perry knows how to write spice with style, purpose, and plenty of heat. Every private scene between Brett and Stella is filled with feelings, suspense, and beautifully particular detail that makes you feel as if you're leaning in, spying on a secret you weren't supposed to hear—but are so pleased you did. Each word Kate uses is thoughtful, luscious, and layered—not just physical chemistry, but emotional vulnerability wrapped in skin-on-skin fire. And I was present for every second of it.
.
The romance is wonderful and deliciously steamy, but it's Stella's connection with her bestie Alex that devoured my heart in the most unexpected way. Their relationship is funny, emotional, and utterly devoted. Alex is the type of best friend that every woman deserves: unapologetic, brazen, and always delivering the right amount of honesty and love you didn't even realize you needed.
.
My Next Colossal Mistake has a very addictive plot, this was really delicious novel, and poignant. It's a love story with bite, banter, and beautifully built relationship between the characters. Even though there was plenty of spice, I needed more, Kate Perry's spicy scenes are incomperable and I won't be reading spicy romances elsewhere, I don't think anyone can top the way she does it and I highly recommend it to everyone!

I devoured My Next Colossal Mistake in one sitting and immediately wished I could read it again. I loved Stella's introduction in the last book- she is the kind of FMC you can't help but love: witty, brave, vulnerable, and so deeply relatable. Her growth from heartbreak and fear to healing and love was beautifully done.

And Brett? Be still my heart. He’s the perfect blend of gruff, loyal, and secretly soft. Watching him with his daughter, Cassandra (who completely stole my heart), added such a touching depth to his character. The chemistry between him and Stella is Hot! Hot! Hot!, and their banter had me laughing one minute and fanning myself the next. He's perfect book boyfriend material!

The small-town charm of Rough and Ready is alive with quirky side characters, cozy vibes, and just enough drama to make it fun. I also loved seeing familiar faces from previous books- it felt like coming home to a place I'd love to live!

This book had it all: emotional tension, laugh-out-loud moments, spicy romance, a dash of suspense, and a heartwarming HEA that left me smiling like an idiot. I cannot wait for Kennedy's story next- my TBR is ready! If you’re into small-town romance with heart, heat, and a touch of danger, My Next Colossal Mistake needs to be your next read!

I feel in love with Stella in this last book because of her relationship with her best friend, Andrew. Stella came back to Rough and Ready. Stella is running from a situation that she just she just cant seem to get rid of. She finds herself back the hotel in R&R looking for a place to stay, work on her next book proposal and she hasn’t been able to stop thinking of Brett. Brett and Stella crossed paths while she was in touch weeks before and Brett was the bartender at the hotel bar.

After an accident in the bar, Brett and Stella got re acquainted real fast, and she got two more surprises. The push and pull between Brett and Stella is super steamy and will keep you reading until the very end. Stellas found relationship with Bretts number one person made my heart melt. The gym sessions with Connor made me giggle and also realized most girls need that type of conversation atleast one time in the teenage life. The side characters from previous books do make appearances. By the end, I was so happy Stella found her happily ever after in R&R. Cant wait to get what happens in the next book.

Oh ya, Kevin is worst.

This story is fun and sweet and I loved Stella and Brett together! Stella is a writer (and trying to avoid her ex-boyfriend.) She decides to spend a few weeks working on her next novel in Rough & Ready. Brett is a grumpy and brooding bartender (and single dad) at the hotel.

Spending just one night with him couldn’t be that colossal of a mistake…could it???

The chemistry and the banter is so good in this book. It was so easy to fall in love with these characters. Stella and Brett were perfect together. I loved it when she finds out he is more than a bartender at the hotel! Yes Brett is grumpy but he is also genuine and sweet.

I love the female friend group and I really loved Stella conversations with Cassie. There is a really good message about loving yourself that I think will really resonate with readers. The side characters were so good and really made this a fun book to read.

I will definitely be reading the rest of this series!!!

This was a fun, fast-paced small town romance with a spicy edge and a charming cast of quirky characters.

I loved the older, divorcee main characters—especially our FMC Stella who’s a writer trying to swear off men, but maybe not her vibrator, which she seemed to be incredibly dependent on 🤣😂.

The chemistry with Brett, the grumpy single dad bartender/hotel business owner, was great. I  also really appreciated the sweet moments with Stella and Brett's daughter, relationships with the kids of single characters is something I always pay attention to when there is a single parent trope, and this one was done really well. There were also plenty of side characters that really completed the cozy found family vibes.

The plot stays pretty mellow. Besides a hotel issue and the central romance, the plot is pretty chill until it cranks up the drama hard near the end—and then lets the air out just as quickly. It didn’t make me cackle, but it was still pretty amusing. This is book 3 in the series but can be read as a standalone. Overall, it’s a solid, cozy, easy read, perfect for fans of small-town love stories with heat.

Stela and Brett are the cutest with their slow burn and banter. Something was amiss from My Secret Book Boyfriend, but seeing it in action is everything. I enjoyed knowing that Brett was a single dad who shared his daughter with his ex and would do anything for her. I was so happy to see that Stella grew through reading the hotel’s hidden letters, standing up to old bullies, and finally committing to knowing what she truly wanted in life. The book she is writing at the end would be something even I would want to read. Kathia new idea for a book? Lol. I highly recommend this book to anyone. It is an interconnected series so definitely start with the first one My Big Comeback before moving on to the second and now third one. Super pumped for the new one to come out. I hope it is this year :)

Do I love being surprised when I think I have a book all figured out? Yes, and this book was just that. If you were to judge a book by its cover and title, YOU would be mistaken as to what you thought it was about and what it was going to be like. I loved this book.

Weaved within the book are letters from the past, and with this, psychic friend, adult toys, romance author, amazing side characters and two main characters and a love of everything about this story. Brett and Stella, along with Bretts daughter Cassandra, takes the reader on a journey of soulmates, taking chances, love at first sight and standing up to life, even when it is tough. The chemistry between Brett and Stella is evident, and I am not mad about main characters in their 40's, I am so here for that. I am so glad I took a chance, and signed up for this ARC, I have discovered a new author, and I loved this book.

Stella's an author hiding out at the hotel working on her newest novel. Brett's the bartender and the sweetest father to the most adorable kiddo. When these two hit it off, sparks flew instantly!
