More snarky-than-sweet Southern girl Acacia “Ace” Stanning has never been anyone’s ideal anything. Not for a lack of trying, of course.
Dark, mysterious, and utterly frustrating hottie Val Draig has always been quite the opposite. Without even an attempt at trying. Except that whole being-a-dragon bit. And the violent bloody war bit. And the fact that simply by knowing him, Ace is now drawn kicking and screaming into a secret battle between two warring dragon factions. Then Val told her she was his ideal everything. Now, because he loves her, a whole group of dragons want her dead. And those are the good guys. The bad guys want both Ace and Val’s entire clan wiped from existence. To stop the bloodshed, she and Val will unravel a hidden past only to discover a future together is the key to their survival. Ace may not be ideal, but who she is may just be wild enough to work.
Fiona Druce and her husband live in the Pacific Northwest with two daughters and a large neurotic dog. Her interests are singing, triathlons, molecular biology, qualitative chemistry, mechanical and aerospace engineering, and writing fiction. She’s positive there is somehow a connection in all that but she hasn’t found it, yet. Suggestions welcome.
Ace is the owner of an occult book shop and is insanely accident prone; I mean she meets the hero while bleeding. She took all the information and the “kidnapping” extremely well. I probably would have screamed.. or fainted. She was a very loveable heroine because she was loyal, determined and not afraid to yell at a dragon. In fact she yelled at more than one, and even slugged a few.. don’t worry they deserved it. As you can tell she is no meek heroine which is good because meek dragon mates probably wouldn’t last long.
Val Draig is a very hot dragon shifter plus he had an English accent. *wipes drool off chin* He came into Aces’ bookstore to find a book about dragon mating rituals and ends up with a mate. He is a great King even if he pissed off his clan by taking a human queen. I think he had the best interests of his clan in almost everything he did which is always admirable in a hero.
I loved this book!! Normally I prefer my books on the hotter scale but this reminded me that I need to expand my horizons. I wanted to slug Val for not giving Ace information as he should of. I mean he didn’t explain they were mated! That could have been disastrous for their relationship. Just like a man to leave out details. lol Plus I loved the secondary characters like Irving, Thane and of course her dad, John!! I was at the edge of my seat waiting to see if they could find the way to end the dragon war. When I found out whom the bad guy was I was blown away. I never saw it coming.
Fiona did an amazing job with this book. It ranks in the top 5 shifter books I have ever read and I have read TONS of them. This is a must read for anyone who likes their romance with comedy or shifters! It was so funny that my sides literally hurt from laughing so hard. I’m hoping/begging since it says Book One there will be more and I hope it is soon!!
If you are looking for a great dragon shifter book, Aces Wild is it. This is the first I've read by this author, I'm hoping for more to come. With one innocent phone call, looking for a rare book for her customer, Aces world is turned upside down. She soon finds herself, kidnapped, running for her life from creatures she thought were only myths, not to mention unknowingly mated to one extremely handsome, arrogant dragon. Now she is caught between two warring dragon clans, both seem to want her dead. And one is her new mates clan. Oh fun times ahead. It was a great book. I loved the story, and the characters. I can't wait to get further into these dragons world. There was only one thing that was a bit disappointing, it ends on a cliffhanger. But it does set up the next book. Which I will be waiting for.
