Dive in for the first time or delve deeper into the bestselling Hot Scots series with three steamy novellas in one collection.
The Notorious Dr. MacT
Their forbidden attraction is undeniable, but giving in could make them both notorious. Scottish Professor Iain and American student Rae must remain only friends—until she passes her final exams and is technically no longer a student. But one night changes everything and ruins them both. Then Iain vanishes. Will he ever know the secret she keeps?
The British Bastard
When a sweet Scot meets a hot Brit with a mysterious past, can she resist the irresistible? Professor Alex never lets anyone into his life or his heart—until grad student Catriona arrives on campus. She wants to know him, but he needs to hide his true self. When their relationship blows apart, they believe they will never see each other again. But fate has its own plans.
How to Lose a Lass
When a former Marine and a Scottish lass meet, it's lust at first sight. But Gavin never counted on Jamie's family butting into their budding romance. His old wounds, her burly brothers, and the stress of their intercontinental romance keep getting in the way. Can love win out, or will their romance blow apart?
The Hot Scots Prequel Novellas gathers these three stories in one book. Don't miss the books that complete these romances—Gift-Wrapped in a Kilt (Book Four), Notorious in a Kilt (Book Five), and Irresistible in a Kilt (Book Eight).
Anna Durand is a bestselling, multi-award-winning author of contemporary and paranormal romance. As for her writing, Anna has always invented stories in her head, but she didn’t write them down until her teen years. Those first awful books went into the trash can a few years later, though she learned a lot from those stories. Eventually, she would pen her first romance novel, the paranormal romance Willpower, and she’s never looked back since.

Fabulous Collection of Hot Scots Prequels! Great Stories & Narration🎧
Hot Scots Prequels By: Anna Durand Narrated by: John Hartley, Emma Wilder, Shane East, Marian Hussey, Aaron Shedlock
This is a fabulous collection of Anna Durand novellas, prequels to three of her amazing “Hots Scots” books, and each one is just as much as a treat for those who are new to the series, because it is a great introduction to each couple and how they met, as it is for those already familiar with these characters because seeing them again is like seeing an old friend. Each book features a perfectly cast narrator who brings the story to life from the pages to your ears.
The first novella, “The Notorious Dr. MacT”, is the prequel to “Notorious in a Kilt”, and is the start of Iain MacTaggart and Rae Everhart’s story, a story that captivates your attention and tugs at your heartstrings the entire time and definitely leaves wanting to know more. Emma Wilder and John Hartley were fantastic as the two leads, grasping every aspect of their personality, as well as their every emotion, having you feel them all.
The second novella, “The British Bastard”, is the prequel to “Irresistible in a Kilt” and features Hots Scots couple Catriona MacTaggart and Alex Thorne, and is an instant attraction, great chemistry, but a secret that could ruin it all. This is another great intro to another great Hot Scots couple and one that leaves you wanting more. And topping off the story was the amazing performance delivered by Marian Hussey and Shane East who did a fabulous job portraying these characters.
The third novella, “How to Lose a Lass”, is the prequel to “Gift-Wrapped in a Kilt”, and is the start and possibly the end of Gavin Douglas and Jamie MacTaggart’s story. They meet in America, Gavin goes to check on his sister Calli, who has a Scotsman, “Aiden MacTaggart” in her home. Jamie, Aiden’s sister, comes for a visit and she and Gavin hit it off. With chemistry between them like no other, the two work hard at keeping their long distance relationship going, but when Gavin gets in his own way, it could be what tears them apart. Aaron Shedlock aces it as Gavin and delivers an exceptional performance, as does Marian Hussey as Jamie and they were a pleasure to listen to.
Overall, this collection is a fabulous way to revisit the characters you already fell in love with or to be introduced to characters you will fall in love with. The narration and performances are superb, Scottish accents and pronunciation of the Scottish phrases and words. Anna Durand, thank you for these fabulous stories.
The Hot Scots Prequel Novellas By: Anna Durand Narrated by: John Hartley, Emma Wilder, Shane East, Marian Hussey, Aaron Shedlock
Did you ever wonder how two of your favorite characters meet? Anna Durand has given us the opportunity to see just how our favorite couples met. It's all about the meet cute! First up its The Notorious Dr MacT, Ian and Rae's beginnings. Rae is Ian's student. Instantly taken with each other, these two have the best relationship. Never crossing the line, keeping Ian's job as a professor safe, the story is sweet, and slow burning. Next, is The British Bastard with Cat and Alex. Alex is a professor and Cat is a graduate student. Incredible chemistry pulls them together, but love is the glue. If the secrets are revealed though, will Cat stay with her true love? And lastly, How to Lose a Lass, Gavin and Jamie's story! These two are constantly on edge, constantly side railed, but consistently in love. The question is, can a intercontinental relationship work? Fantastic couples, all working on that first meet up and see if they even like each other. Leading up tho their full stories, its a sneak peak into that first look and its so much fun!
Durand knows how to pick her narrators and each story is perfectly cast. Ian and Rae are narrated by John Hartley and Emma Wilder, it could not have been a better listen. Cat and Alex are narrated by the talents of Shane East and Marian Hussey and the story is beyond perfect. Jamie and Gavin are narrated by Marian Hussey and Aaron Shedlock. I don't need to say anything more to let you know just how good the narration is. Making these books flow, these talents gave it the flavor needed to keep me coming back for the full stories. Loved them!
The British Bastard - It's rare I write a review for a prequel story, but sometimes I feel like a word needs to be said. Alex and Cat's "cute meet" is well worth the read. More is revealed about their past and the 2 year connection they share than is written about in book 8 "Irresistible in a Kilt". Funny and insightful look at the relationship they shared before they became a couple
The Notorious Dr. MacT - A prequel short set before the events of "Notorious in a Kilt". I enjoyed how the tension between professor Iain and senior student Rae played out. Both were well aware of the attraction, and the consequences if they crossed the line, but made sure to very carefully avoid the final barrier. But not all is as it seems when lies are told.
How to Lose a Lass - this is a prequel for Gavin and Jamie's story but it really does provide an insight into their relationship from its beginning. Cracks show under the strain of brothers, interference, miscommunication and they are not easily resolved despite their more sexy times.
This is a wonderful grouping of prequels. Each one is a shorter story that tells the beginning of each of these couples. They are fun, have explosive banter, great connections and those sexy Scots! I think my favorite of these is The British Bastard because of the way both characters went off the rails as we were filled in on their wonderful backstory.
These are blessed with amazing narrators. John Hartley, Emma Wilder, Shane East, Marian Hussey and Aaron Shedlock are all a joy to listen to and I love listening to their work.
These three novellas show exactly what happened when each of these couples were together the first time. These events are alluded to in the full novels, but it was fun to experience these stories firsthand now that I care about the characters and have read their HEAs. The Notorious Dr. MacT -- I had forgotten how swoony Iain was until I read this. He is so sweet to Rae, and they have such great chemistry. The British Bastard -- I wondered why Cat had loved Alex so much since she hates him so much later. This novella answered all my questions. How to Lose a Lass -- Gavin and Jamie met in Aiden's book and then have their own book. In between, though, they have broken up while not on the page. This novella takes us back to the beginning and fills in more details. The audiobooks are terrific. The narrators are all excellent, and they do a great job of bringing humor and heartbreak to the stories. I love having these prequels.
