Prior to his first professional work, Tynion was a student of Scott Snyder's at Sarah Lawrence College. A few years later, he worked as for Vertigo as Fables editor Shelly Bond's intern. In late 2011, with DC deciding to give Batman (written by Snyder) a back up feature, Tynion was brought in by request of Snyder to script the back ups he had plotted. Tynion would later do the same with the Batman Annual #1, which was also co-plotted by Snyder. Beginning in September 2012, with DC's 0 issue month for the New 52, Tynion will be writing Talon, with art by Guillem March. In early 2013 it was announced that he'd take over writing duties for Red Hood and the Outlaws in April.

Tynion is also currently one of the writers in a rotating team in the weekly Batman Eternal series.

This was so good!

This is a little collection of stories. In issue #4, Christopher said he knew Adam and asked How do I know you. The first little story here answers that. Adam accompanies a lonely and slightly lost young Chaos as he trick or treats on his own as a child. I'm not in love with the watercolor style of art, but the story is cute and fills in a few blanks.

Next we get an origin story from Jordi. He's still not willing to share his vampire origins, but we get to see where his Dracula Boy costume came from. It was nice to have some more panels with Hayden, but this didn't do much for me overall. Especially when that mask on the costume looks so much like Die Fledermaus from The Tick and I can't tell whether it's intentional. I'm pretty sure it's one of so many Easter eggs in this series, but it was lowkey bugging me why it looked so familiar before I remembered The Tick (specifically the cartoon of my childhood.)

Next, The Cardinal is tasked with clearing a vampire den. I got excited that this might introduce Jordi's sire, but I don't think they were. Elias literally ripped the vampire in half and I've never heard of that method for killing vampires, but it worked. And I sincerely hope that The Monarch is not meant to be the Dracula of this series. How would an elderly vampire have gotten into such a situation? Was he being tortured? Bled to make more vampires? Or was it his blood the humans were drinking like a party favor? I have questions. Loved how the Cardinal looked in this.

Speaking of, I love that Adam Frankenstein pinup by Len Gogou even more. Adam, sir, what, pray tell, are you reading as you laze on that chaise?

Ignoring that distraction, we move on to Viveka seeking Adam's advice on how to let go of her heartache over Hayden. Her, "One of these limbs has to have a little bit of human sympathy in it" made me snort a laugh. I lovehate the tease we get at Adam's relationship with Dracula as his clear example of a heartache he's still not over. Just a few images on a page, but it teases such a romance! I'm also pretty sure that's not the same vampire as the Monarch, so there's still a chance for a reunion, I think, between Frankenstein and Dracula.

The final story introduces a new character to the scene. Claire Cross, monster hunter! She's on her last hunt, seeking the monster that turned her on to the paranormal as a girl at a sleepover. Similar to Bloody Mary, she conjured a figment by calling out Bride three times into a bathroom mirror. Years later, she's lured to Byron Camp in the arctic north, searching for more than a figment of the Bride. It is likely her last wish, but it is granted and OMG do I love the reveal!!!!

Great standalone issue if someone wanted to test out the series, but also a great accompaniment for fans of the ongoing series.

My favorite was "What can you do" with Viveka.

I'm seriously considering a CC Halloween costume 😀
