In Another Lifetime

Rate this book
Allyson Kendrick has borderline personality disorder, and things get complicated when a new type of mental health therapy introduces her to the concept of past lives. She’s been a nurse in WWII, an aristocrat aboard the Titanic, and a French peasant at the height of the Revolution, all of which would be fine if it weren’t for the pervading presence of a single man in all these past lives. But Allyson’s troubles are just getting started.

Enter handsome Englishman Drew a shy, unassuming creative writing professor and struggling playwright. Ally is thunderstruck to discover Drew is the same man from her past lives—her soul mate. He appears to be everything Ally’s ever wanted, but there’s just one Drew is already married.

In Another Lifetime by Theresa Lee Kenny

In Another Lifetime by Theresa Lee Kenny is a captivating exploration of love, mental health, and reincarnation. The story follows Allyson Kendrick, a woman with borderline personality disorder (BPD), who discovers a groundbreaking therapy that introduces her to the concept of past lives. Through this therapy, Ally uncovers vivid memories of being a nurse in WWII, an aristocrat aboard the Titanic, and a peasant during the French Revolution, all tied together by the presence of a mysterious man.

When Ally meets Drew Stafford, a quiet English professor, she is stunned to realize he is the same man from her past lives—her soulmate. However, Drew is already married, complicating the emotional journey that unfolds.

Kenny's portrayal of Ally’s BPD is sensitive and authentic, providing a deep look into how mental health shapes relationships. The romance is heart-wrenching, and the historical elements add richness to the narrative. In Another Lifetime offers an intriguing blend of romance, mystery, and self-discovery, making it a deeply engaging read.

This book embodies right person, wrong time. Drew and Ally, soulmates, twin falmes, always seem to find each other in different lifetimes but have never had enough time to enjoy it. Something bad has always happened. For instance, one life he was beheaded. Another the Titanic sank, and she lost hold of him in the water. Another was WW2, and a bomb exploded. And in this one he is married with kids. They can't ever seem to find the right time to be with each other, and it takes a toll on their mental health. And reading this book and seeing how much they had to go through, how much they had to fight for love. It just shows to prove that love will conquer all. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and look forward to continuing reading books from this author.

I had the honour of doing a read for a bookfluencer company.

"Allyson Kendrick has borderline personality disorder, and things get complicated when a new type of mental health therapy introduces her to the concept of past lives"

I loved the idea of her being drawn to her soulmate throughout history and that they were destined to meet. I would have loved more of them getting to know each other outside of the classroom before they slept together. My own personal opinion is that she slept with him too quickly, knowing he was married and it would ruin his family but again he is just as much as the problem there.

I didn't want to put it down when I was reading, I'd love to see a follow-up if they ever get together or if he gets back with his wife and family.

Interesting take on soul mates/twin flames and the idea of Past Life Regression Therapy was very interesting. Not a fan of infidelity bringing fated mates together. To keep on par with all of Ally and Drew’s past lives together I think an ending or plot twist involving a tragic accident after they get together would have been better suited to ending this love story.
Over all the authors writing style is clear and easy to follow.

The right person… but the wrong time; over and over again. But it’s still a beautiful love story between two beautiful souls. This story is written in such away that I wanted more and was always wondering where the next story was going. There were tears of joy and sadness. But overall the characters grew into their own and found their way. Together??? Maybe or maybe not you have to read it to find out.

This book is the epitome of ‘never the right time’ & takes it to a whole new level of ‘never the right lifetime’.
Ally & Drew are our MCs. Drawn together. Soul Mates. Twin Flames. One problem, Drew is married & has been happily so for years before he even knew Ally existed in this life. Here lies the problem.
Whilst I loved how it was clear throughout this book that they were connected from many lifetimes before, I was a little uncomfortable with how they connected in this one (personal preferences obviously, but this is my own opinion to share).
That being said. I enjoyed elements of this story - the chemistry, the spice, the internal reflection, how our FMC demonstrates personal growth & how mental health was a main focus (still not represented enough these days).

This book does contain trigger warnings that the audience needs to be aware of all notes at the start of the book, some I anticipated & some that caught me by surprise as to when they came up within the story.

I am grateful to have been provided with an ARC of this book & I wish the author every success.
