A fascinating blend of history, anecdote, and reflection. The book paints Cochin not just as a place but as a layered character shaped by colonial encounters, political shifts, and cultural richness.
I especially appreciated how M. K. Das weaves personal insights with historical facts. It is this unique writing style that made the narrative both informative and engaging.
While some parts felt a bit dense, the overall storytelling made up for it. A compelling read for anyone curious about Kerala’s most cosmopolitan city.
A very informative read for those who love Kochi - especially Fort Kochi and Mattancherry. I loved reading this (though there was visible absence of proofchecking before the print of this book @niyogibooks). The timeline and the structure were a bit confusing, but I don't think there were other ways the author could come up with this book.
