While pulling a Halloween prank, a group of teenagers find the town’s homeless man covered in blood, muttering about a witch.
Most of the residents of Pride Falls assume he’s responsible for whatever terrible fate has befallen the missing town librarian, but pet photographer turned crime scene photographer Kiki Long doesn’t see it that way.
She pursues an alternate theory while attempting to convince her incarcerated husband to grant her a divorce, avoid a creepy stalker, and figure out the perfect costume to wear to her friend’s Halloween bash.
Hard to say whether she’s got a shot of pulling any of it off.
Downloaded this book, starting reading, & couldn’t stop! It’s now 3:00 am & I finally finished. I really enjoyed reading about Super Kiki! My favorite supporting characters- Kodak & Loki!!!
I love this series and cannot wait for more. The Cat, the Witch and the Dead Dude is light enough to enjoy, strong enough mystery to capture the reader. My favorite so far. I look forward to a long relationship with Kiki Long and her friends. J.B. Lynn is an excellent author, so I am not sure why I hadn't already read the series, but I am glad I have now, and it was fun to get to read several back-to-back. Life has gotten really tough for Kiki Long since her husband's balloon went down, his body was a no show and, he is suspected of embezzling from the town. Her life wasn't all that great before he disappeared since his shenanigans had already cost them any financial safety and their relationship when he fathered a child with another woman years ago, but things had improved as she got a job as part time crime scene photographer and friends has have stepped up to support her. The town has even turned from reviling her to seeing her as a hero. Now, her husband is back, or she is imagining things, and she has received a foreclosure notice on her home, the one they took a loan out against to pay off the mother of that baby. She is really trying not to think, "can things get any worse" because she knows the can always get worse. In spite of the shadows, and worse, seeing the support Kiki has and watching her grow into an independent woman, as well as getting to know most of the people who surround her makes this a must read for both cozy mystery reader and those who enjoy lighter female detective mysteries. Light enough to enjoy, strong enough mystery to capture the reader.
A wonderful addition to a series that is written by a master storyteller. The characters, animals, and mystery were all outstanding. And the secrets! So many secrets! Fast paced and filled with emotions, this truly was a book that I could not stop reading until the last word. If you love Halloween, animals, family, and great friends then this is a book you will love! Loved it and wish I could give it more than 5 stars!
a really fun read! I love this author and this is another wonderful series from the author of the hitwoman series which is fabulous! This is a fast paced read, filled with interesting quirky characters. Lots of twists and turns, murder and mayhem and this is a real page turner and a must read!
JB Lynn has a way of writing which makes you feel like you know the main characters. A perfectly balanced sense of fun and drama that keeps you wanting more. Any of JB's series would make excellent Netflix viewing!
I enjoy a good mystery and this series gives me a chance to do just that and not have to read about all the blood and body parts scattered about. It’s about starting new, having faith in yourself and never giving up.
Another hit from JB Lynn! Each new book cements JB Lynn as my favorite author. She masterfully blends deep characters, lightness and humor, and a mystery that kept me guessing. Perfect Halloween/fall read and a terrific next installment in this series!
Excellent story with our heroin finally flips the coin in her favor. twists and turns and funky Halloween Customes. Next please .....continue the series.
Kiki is back and working hard to get her life in order. Her favorite homeless man is thought to have committed a crime. But Kiki is out to prove them wrong. Another great mystery filled with laughs, mystery, and romance. Can’t wait for more!!
#3 THE CAT, THE WITCH AND THE DEAD DUDE is another great book by JB Lynn. I love her writing style and her characters are just plain fun. Kiki’s husband embezzled funds from the small town where they lived and then he tried to abscond in a hot air balloon. This all happened in an earlier book but Karl (the husband) has been in prison but he just maybe getting out. Kiki is now working as a photographer for the local police and getting her life back together. The characters are fun and likable. The animals are sweet and funny, especially Loki the goat. Treat yourself and gets all 3 books. You will be glad you did. Add JB Lynn to your authors to follow so you can see all the books she has written. Everyone is terrific.
This was great and a fun read. It was great to catch up with KiKi and the gang again. Saw some closure for a few things and looking forward to where the story goes from here. As usual Loki and Kodak are the best!
