Redemption’s Song opens with a man racing to find himself, while another loses himself in a sunny place, surrounded by shady people. Redemption’s Song is unique in both form and structure — a mosaic which explores the mistakes we make on our path to discovering what truly matters. At times haunting, others humorous, Redemption’s Song takes the reader from the cereal aisle to an alternate world where art meets machine — from the used car lot to what happens when we die.
leo jenkins has shattered the novel and assembled a true work of art.
“Redemption’s Song” is the newest book from @leo_jenkins and his first published collection of fiction short stories. I won’t bury the lead. It’s beautiful. I mean, it’s also what we’ve come to expect from Jenkins. His collected works of poetry and non fiction set a high bar and now he’s entered the ring with fiction. We’ve come to expect excellence with his work and thankfully in this new collection, he delivers. The stories are heartfelt, beautiful, and even gut wrenching at times. If you’ve read his other works—as I surely have—you can see where some of his inspiration was drawn for the characters and places and it gives the knowledgeable reader that much more depth to consider. If you’ve never read Jenkins before, this is a great entry point as each chapter is new story with many of them having through lines of connection. It’s as if he wrote this as a linear novel and then threw it on the ground and allowed the fractured pieces to tell a new story instead. It’s perfect. Go grab this book!
A beautifully crafted mosaic that braids different points of view to share heavy lessons. Along with different characters, readers get to travel time and space full of emotions. Never disappointed with this author and this work is accompanied by the best epilogue I have ever read.
