Every four years the city of Avidya holds a contest for its new Burger Buddy, the contender who makes the best burgers, and whom the citizens believe promotes the best policies. This public figure resides in the White Palace, the largest restaurant in the city, where the administration of business and burgertics, the city's government affairs, are conducted.
There are two platforms, or the sinistre (left) Vegicrats, and the dexter (right) Carnicans. While the Carnicans believe burgers should made of pure beef from animals, the Vegicrats push for plant-based fare. The outgoing Burger Buddy, Barry Bummer, has been the darling of the main grease burgercasts that have gradually leaned in favor of the Vegicrats, especially during Obummer's two terms.
Ronald Crump, a florist with a shop called Crump Flowers, has decided to enter the contest. At once the burgercasts and the Vegicrats, including their front runner Hillarious Clifton, rally against him, for he is not a burgertician. Crump blasts back at the main grease, calling them Fake Meat as his MATA campaign slogan, ‘Make Avidya Tasty Again,’ takes the city by storm.
