Picking up where we were left hanging, Aurora is at her wit’s end and desperate for a way out.

Always a step ahead, Roman is prepared to cross decimate all the lines to make Aurora his. Not just for today, but forever.

I love that Roman remains unrepentant, but that we get insight into his behavior. Despite his obstinate will, he, likewise, evolves into the partner that Aurora needs, forging a relationship that works for them.

We are back and it picks up right where book 1 ends!! Things seem normalish between Roman and Aurora, he’s been the “nice” boyfriend but he’s just playing his part the next game between them. Roman is planning the next game and he’s always one step ahead of his little kitten. When he learns she’s trying once again to leave him he’s going to make sure she pays.

The drama between them the back and forth was so delicious, I was rooting for Aurora to get away from him many times to see what Roman would do and he did not disappoint 😈😈😈 the obsession he has for her the punishments she craved was so yummy.

But when she turned down something he asked things went up another level in the game he does take a page out of his brothers page and poor Aurora.. I felt for her all she wanted was to know he loved her.. that’s all she wanted..

I also like that the brothers sorta bonded in there own twisted ways with this game lol I also want a small epilogue of that trip the girls took.

No ow/om drama, no cheating, slight secondary chars, drama, sexy times, no virgins

4.5 stars!

Vicious Games picks right back up where book one left us hanging. Aurora is falling for Roman but his love comes at a price and she isn't sure she is willing to pay that price unless Roman can show even an ounce of real humanity and love for her.

"This wasn’t obsession. This was my soul, completely possessing hers. This was my darkness devouring her light for my salvation."

Roman is a master of manipulation and will cross every line and decimate anyone standing in his way of making Aurora his.

“You need to understand, baby. I will let nothing and no one take you from me. Ever. I will tear this world apart to return you to my side, if you are foolish enough to try and leave me again, and I don’t give a damn who I kill in the process.”

I loved that Roman stayed true to his character and was completely unapologetic for his crazy. Knowing his background and getting more insight into why the way he is the way he is was enlightening and I loved his own personal struggles with realizing that Aurora may have beaten him at his own game in the end. Aurora was his but he was just as much hers. Aurora and Roman create a beautiful (if a little toxic) relationship that works for them. Despite all the crap (and there was a lot) Roman put Aurora through, she came out swinging and stronger for it. I loved her nurturing and kind spirit and that she never lost it. Roman may never change and I hope he doesn't but I'm glad he softened for Aurora. In the end I found him redeemable and Aurora the hero of it all.

"I wanted to be the hero in her story, not the villain."

Zoe Blake, author extraordinaire, has written another sensational story about Roman and Aurora’s journey and the games that they play! This was smoking hot and smouldering in its intensity.
Roman wants to possess Aurora and consume her. He is passionate and demanding and extremely domineering but is that love?
Aurora balks and resists him, telling him no, antagonizing him, and pushing his buttons, but is that push and pull all about love?
Sensational, provocative and sensuous story! It checks all the boxes!

Alright, if you haven’t read Cruel Games, 🛑 STOP 🛑 and go read part one of this duet.

I had a very hard time empathizing with Roman last book. He seemed to be an irredeemable anti-hero. There weren’t any indications that he wanted Aurora as more than a prized possession, a thing to own. And my attitude towards him didn’t change until nearly the end of this story.

I saw the games that he and Aurora were playing. They were similar to the games Richard liked to play with his Elizabeth. The boundary pushing. The spirit breaking. The all consuming pain and pleasure combo that came with bratty punishments. The forced submission and the controlled outcomes. But there was no love in Roman and Aurora’s relationship. Not the way you could see glimpses of live with Richard and Elizabeth.

It was hard to feel sympathy for Roman with each dismissal from Aurora. It was devastating to see her tears when her teenaged heart was broken. But more than anything it was infuriating to know that somewhere, someone hurt Roman so badly he choose to shield his heart so deeply that even a love as blinding as Aurora’s would place in comparison to his darkness.

When he finally opened up, it brought tears to my eyes and had me all up in my emotions. I can only imagine how Aurora felt to finally know that she mattered to him in ways she I had previously only dreamed possible.

My favorite part of the book has to be the secret epilogue though.

Oh such a ride of a story! There were hints that Roman was going to get worse in this book and yes, yes he did. So mean. And I love him. Every time Aurora plotted her escape, I got a sinking feeling... there's a whooping and a hurting coming. And it came. Still she was a match for Roman and it was fun to see her push and fight back, she never gave up even with the threads of her sanity slipping away.

On a side note, I found the descriptions of Aurora's music and playing very real and raw, so much so I found myself pulled to sit at my piano again - something I haven't done in many months due to personal grief. Thank you for that Zoe, your blending of Moonlight Sonata into the book pulled me into story in ways I didn't expect.

Moonlight Sonata, Roman’s favourite piece of music - here is where Zoe’s research shines through. Playing it again reminded me what a deceptively simple piece it seems to be: slow, no ornaments or trills. But playing it well requires a tremendous amount of control, the tempo changes, the quick changes from very soft to loud then back again. As any musician knows, doing this in just a measure of music takes practice and again, control. How fitting for Roman… and Aurora. Bravo Zoe, perfect musical allegory for this twisted relationship.

Roman and Aurora’s story is something of macabre beauty. We have Roman who should come with all the warnings and red flags there are. Then we have Aurora who is as much a soothing balm to Roman’s crazy as she is the instigator. I always love how Zoe Blake can give us a MMC then irl we would hate and avoid at all costs, and just makes us not only fall in love with him but sympathize and understand him. I must say this one is a wild ride so buckle up!

(3.5⭐)

This book was way BETTER THAN the first one! Obviously Roman had no redeeming qualities but he changed in the last 20% book. Well I have mixed feelings about the heroine, she was both strong and a doormat.

This book is at least a little less brutal than the first one and Roman seemed a little more human. Roman is manipulative and unlike any psychopath hero I have ever read. He wants things to be his way too controlling and dominant. Aurora was much stronger than the first book in duet.

IT'S A DUET:
Cruel games - (2.5⭐)
Vicious Games - (3.5⭐)

‼️no cheating, no OW drama, the whole book is TRIGGER 😂‼️

Bravo Zoe! What an amazing ending. I thought I loved Roman in Cruel Games, but I grew to love him even more in Vicious Games. I absolutely adored Aurora. She was young, but she was so smart, strong and brave. I think she definitely surprised Roman several times in this one. I absolutely loved where she forced him to talk to her, really talk. And the place and position they were in while doing it. Gold. (I don't want to give too much away) One of my favorite lines from Roman was him thinking, "I had no intention of ever putting her out into the world as an extension of my wealth. Her mind, body and musical talents were works of art that would always have one and only one admirer, me." He really did adore her and he loves her deeply. He just thinks he's too messed up to. I loved that them and Richard and Lizzie grew close. The whole story was just superb. ❤️

well the h kept putting off/rejecting the H's marriage proposal and we never got the marriage/baby epilogue I would love to read. And kinda confusing when the H kept convincing himself that he wouldn't love the h but from what I remembered, in the previous book the H said he was in love with her...

overall an okay read.

VG had me on edge throughout the whole book.
I was completely immersed and enthralled.
I loved Aurora here. She grew into her own. Gave as good as she got. And learned to play the vicious game with conniving ease.
While I was reading my mind was shouting “you go girl!” Yes she made me proud.
Roman is Roman but now to the extreme. Holy craziness how does he think up these plans?!
He’s ruthless and manipulative. He’s overwhelming and his energy is consuming.
I loved the man even with his cruelty. Because underneath it all is a man who loves wholeheartedly and without limits.
“This wasn't love. This wasn't obsession. This was my soul, completely possessing hers.”
He was completely out of his mind with Aurora.
Roman was possessive, obsessed and completely overprotective of her.
Their lust and their passion is a thing or presence of its own. It’s an entity that comes to life off the pages.
Oh my goodness they are hot and sexy and ignite and explode with the sizzle and sparks they create.
Wow just wow!
I was sad when their story ended. I hope Ms. Blake gives glimpses of them in future books ❤️

I received a copy of this arc in exchange for my honest review. This is book 2 in the Dark Obsession duet. This is the follow up story of Aurora and Roman. I don’t want to touch on the plot too much as I don’t want to give any spoilers to anyone who hasn’t read book 1 yet.
Roman continues to be ruthless and depraved as ever, and as much as Aurora wants to escape him, deep down, she loves him and the games they continue to play.
These two were like watching a game of tug of war from page one until the very end. Did Roman redeem himself? Ehhh, maybe minimally. Do we still love him and fantasize about him? That would be a very hard yes. Did they grow as a couple? Yes. Though their relationship remains dark and depraved, Roman’s character has grown and he has learned to open his heart a little and let Aurora in, aside from just “owning” her.
Make no mistake, the two of them continue to be FIRE. The steam between them is ABLAZE. This story is delicious and will have you shedding layers of clothing it’s so hot. The ending left me wanting so much more. I want a glimpse into their future, Richard’s as well !
Fantastic story !

A dark and twisted game of cat and mouse as Roman is determined that Aurora will be his and no-one, not even his intended bride will get in his way. With elements of dubious consent, blood play and dominance, for me the Dark Obsession duet has been a fantastic introduction to Zoe Blake’s books. I adored this deviously dark tale of one man’s obsession and the lengths he will go to obtain his heart’s desire.

Roman is just one of those characters that you will either love or hate… or probably both in equal measure. At times he’s a totally dominant and obsessive psychopath but then he goes and does something sweet for Aurora and you can’t help but think he can’t be that bad and maybe Aurora should just stop resisting but where would be the fun in that! Besides it’s when he’s at his sweetest that he’s usually planning something devilish. The lengths and cruelty he will go to, to make Aurora his wife beggars belief but she is no slouch when it comes to playing him at his own game when he goes too far in his machinations and turns the table on him. The chemistry between this couple is passionate, violent and sizzling but as this author says “love could be vicious and cruel but it was theirs.”

You have heroes, antiheroes, villains….and then you have Roman.
I was eagerly waiting for the end of this duet and once again Zoe didn’t disappoint in writing the unapologetically cruel, commanding, domineering, and deliciously dark Roman.
The story didn’t take the way I thought it would. It actually turned out to be better.
Roman was very hard to like and I don’t think many authors could pull off something like that without ending on my dnf pile
But Zoe has such a quality in her writing and a way to give dimensions to her characters that you are engrossed in the story as you are plotting physical violence on a fictional character…
I really enjoyed this duet and I think it will be a treat for dark romance lovers.
I think this couple does reach their HEA but if you are looking for a traditional HEA maybe this is not the one for you. As I said there’s no real redemption for Roman and honestly I think that’s what makes this book stand out.
Another great success in my book.
Tell me, Zoe, when can I read your next epic story?

Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Trope: captive, age-gap
Angst: 😱😱
Smexy: 🔥🔥🔥

Ahhhhh... Roman. I have missed you ❤️. You and your crazy, can-do attitude and willingness to cross ANY line for the woman you want, 😂😂. Vicious Games is a super entertaining, roller coaster of a ride with a manipulative, sexy, gas lighter for a hero that is willing to set the world on fire for his girl, Aurora. If you're looking for a secret jelly roll hero, you are looking in the WRONG place. If dubcon offends you, you are in the WRONG place. Roman has more red flags than a Chinese army parade field. This story is super fast paced and had me feeling like I was in fight or flight the entire time, not knowing what Roman was going to do next. Fantastically entertaining read!

Vicious Games is the second book in the Dark Obsession Duet, cannot be read as a standalone, and should be read after Cruel Games. It is told in first person, from dual perspective.

This picks right back up where we left Aurora and Roman, only now he’s kicked the games up a notch.

Aurora is trapped by Roman. She’s torn about her feelings for him and her desire to flee. Roman is still beyond controlling. He’s so obsessed with her that it’s unbelievable at times, but it seems to be coming from a dark deep rooted place of not wanting to be abandoned. Against all logic Aurora struggles with her love for this man and wants him, but she needs that love to be reciprocated.

The chemistry between these two is off the charts. It’s dark, violent and out of control. I fell even more for them when they both start to realize why they feel the way they do. Roman’s feelings finally come to the surface! I loved how Aurora plays her own games as well and when she goes up against him 👀- I was scared for her haha.

The ending was fun with how relationships have changed and developed. Gotta love how dark and twisted games are their family’s favorite pastime. 🤣

Vicious Games is the conclusion in the Dark Obsession Duet, and as such, YOU MUST READ Cruel Games (Book 1) FIRST! I'm going to make this review short & sweet, because while I LOVE Zoe Blake books, I just never imprinted on Roman, who does questionable things that I have issues with. Aurora is his obsession, and there's nothing he won't do to keep, but Aurora just wants to be loved so they're at a bit of an impasse. This is a dark duet so please pay attention to the trigger warnings because even I paused a time or two, but I won't say why since it's a personal preference. I will say that despite some of the things that I despised, Zoe Blake has serious talent so I kept going anyway because I couldn't look away. So yeah, I did enjoy the conclusion better than the beginning and HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Gahhh!!! What I wouldn’t give to be the focal point of Roman’s obsession… He is absolutely the most deliciously enigmatic man on the planet with his scheming and planning just to own the woman of his dreams. Furthermore, Aurora has proved to be the formidable opponent that I’ve hoped for and tamed the almighty arrogant and sinful Bastard Duke! Of course, I shouldn’t even have to mention the incredibly explosive and lustful intimate moments between Roman and Aurora since Vicious Games is the second part of the Dark Obsession Duet🔥. This was a heart-stoppingly smexy and captivating book. Most definitely a must-read in my opinion!

We continue our story of Roman and Aurora. When we left Aurora was trying to make a break for it. Of course, she would never be able to outwit Roman. He was dark and slowly she felt herself falling into it. Roman saw love as a flaw. It was words and could be used against him. But Aurora was the light that was pulling him in. She needed not only to be his possession but the feel love from him. We start with a happened earlier from when she woke up. When I first started reading I thought I missed something till I realized we were forward then back. Yes, Roman is dark. He seems so cruel at times and then he does these amazing things and you think you could be wrong. And then Aurora too feels that way. We are pulled to and fro, never sure of what he truly feels. Is he going to keep demanding of her? Is she like Icarus? Being drawn to the flame and slowly getting burned. At times I felt like Alice falling down the rabbit hole, not sure when I would actually land. The yo-yo effect of Roman was maddening. I never knew if he was playing a game or real. It was Aurora’s strength that really was the shining star. She always knew. Yes, a woman can change a man. Great ending.

Vicious Games is the conclusion of the Dark Obsession Duet and it brings to a close Roman and Aurora's tumultuous love story. There's a lot of push and pull here as both characters are struggling with their feelings and being able to trust one another. There's a lot of miscommunications and I got frustrated as that seemed to go on for most of the book. While I can give Aurora some leeway due to her age and lack of experience, I wish Roman would have appeared more mature and more in control. Like I said in my review of book one, I can't help but compare the two brothers and Roman just doesn't live up to Richard. The games he plays aren't as well thought out and lack follow through. I did enjoyed seeing Aurora come into her own towards the end. Roman and Richard together is what really made the book for me, especially in the epilogue. Overall, this was still an enjoyable read with all the steam, I was just hoping for a bit more depth.

Vicious Games by Zoe Blake is the mind-numbing story of Roman and Aurora. These two are playing a deadly game….one that you hope never ends!!! I was so immersed in this story, I never put it down!! Roman is ruthless, unforgiving, immovable, and knows what he wants. Aurora is determined, unstoppable, never gives up, and is the perfect foil for Roman. But, can they ever be together? Will there constantly be obstacles? Another AAAAMAZING read from this brilliant author!!!!

4 stars!

The second book was better, the feelings started to show and it had more depth, I understood them more and their motivations, especially Romans.

I liked how Aurora was not naive, she was smart and understood where she stood with Roman and how dangerous it was to accept all that he was doing to her, I appreciated how she would not accept anything less than true love from him. I also liked how Roman came to the realization that he truly loved her, that for the first time in his life he was feeling this deeply for someone.

Overall very enjoyable!

This line I quote here is the reason why I trust Zoe would always deliver.

"...I could feel myself changing. It was as if his coldness was devouring all my warmth. Each day I turned less and less to the light and instead sought the darkness. In the dark, you could be anyone, do anything. There were no rules, no judgments, no tomorrows. I could give in to the thrill I felt when he spanked my ass or ruthlessly bent me over to f*k me from behind. I could fall to my knees and allow him to f*k my mouth until I thought I would pass out. I could relish in the feel of his hands around my throat as he thrust between my legs. I could take it all in, all of it, without guilt or recriminations or shame. In the darkness, I was free..."

And then to laugh with glee and satisfaction for their (ending?) HEA

Hint: I still need more from both Richard and Roman with their wicked twisted games with their lady

Roman is the type of man any women would want. He is dark, dangerous, dominate and sexy as hell and loves to play games. Aurora stills pushes Roman’s buttons when she keeps trying to escape. She will never escape him, Roman will do everything to keep her. Even plan that she shot him “What happened?” His eyes narrowed. “You shot me. And on our wedding day, no less”
When he realizes that he loves Aurora it makes you grab your chest and think that the bad guys can find love and still be this dark, dangerous man who will literally kill for you. Especially when he says this “You didn’t bring sunshine into my word, you brought the dawn.” This is what Zoe Blake does to a reader, making us want more and more from these characters.
The dark and twisted mind of Zoe Blake is what we all want in books, if you haven’t read any of her books you better start you will not regret it.

***this is a dark romance so check TW's/CW's

I was so curious to see how Roman and Aurora's story would play out and I was not disappointed! Zoe Blake always pushes my dark romance boundaries and this series definitely tested that (but in the best way!).

Aurora surprised me the most in this book and I was pleasantly surprised at her ability to play her own games. She finally accepted the darkness inside of herself and once she did, things got interesting! Roman is as dark and depraved as ever and I love a sexy psychotic billionaire. I also really enjoyed the relationship between Roman and Richard.

Highly recommend!

Aurora has just turned 18 when Roman confronts her stepfather with the proof of his embezzlement. Nothing her stepfather owns is worth anything---except for Aurora. Roman wants her, and he always gets what he wants. Just a short time until her graduation and she will learn how to satisfy and obey Roman.

I love Aurora’s selfless and caring personality. I am captivated by her sexual naiveté, yet her ability to obey and satisfy Roman. I also love the way Roman is a unique “game player” who knows exactly what he wants and how to get it. I am totally overwhelmed by the way he is able to control, dominate and erotically punish Aurora into coercing her total compliance, which leaves her feeling both dirty and euphoric.

This is a dark ARC that has managed to capture my complete attention and left me craving MORE!
