Giving his disabled brother a dragon as a service animal was the most natural decision in the world. He only had to find a male to breed with his sweet Elizabeth. Making his sibling's lives better was what he did after the accident. It was only the three of them; he was the oldest, so it was his job. He didn’t anticipate everything changing when he found Franklin, a dragon that was a little bit extra, and his companion Alex.

Alex was a loud and proud fashion designer who accepted that he was a lot, but he didn’t care because he was his authentic self, and nobody could change that. The opportunity to make some money by letting Franklin get his freak on was perfect to pay the bills. He didn’t mind at all that the owner of the female was hot and straight!?

The sparks between them were undeniable, but was shepherding Hunter through his awakening what Alex really wanted? Did he even want to be with a man, or was this just an experiment? Was Hunter ready to have someone like Alex in his life, or was it all just too much?

This was an interesting book to read. I haven't read the other 2 books in the series, but it didn't feel like I needed to, I understood the story. It was a very interesting premise with the idea of dragons as pets.

Alex and Hunter both have dragons that they want to breed. Hunter wants to do it so he can give the pup to his brother as a service animal. That brother was in an accident and is wheelchair bound. Alex just wants some extra cash and that's why he decides to breed his dragon, Franklin. Franklin is the 6th suitor that Elizabeth meets and he's the one she mates with. So this is how Alex and Hunter meet, as dragon dads/companions. Franklin stays with Hunter and Liz for several days so Hunter decides to send updates to Alex whenever he can. They start a flirty conversation and even though Hunter is straight, he doesn't shut the flirting down. When Alex accidentally calls him on Facetime Hunter is surprised to find out that he finds Alex cute and beautiful. The flirting continues and when Alex arrives to spend a couple of days in Snowfall before taking Franklin back home to Denver, they fall into a relationship of sorts. They get on really well and soon Hunter and Liz are visiting Alex and Franklin in Denver. Alex is a fashion designer and we see him design and make dresses. He is also gearing up for a fashion show and applying for an internship. That internship brings some issues, but thankfully in the end everyhting gets settled between them.

I really enjoyed all the conversations they had about the relationship right from the get go, even if it was foreign for both of them, neither being in relationships before. It was nice to see them be upfront and honest and talk things out. Near the end of the book their trust was put to the test and I was quite annoyed to see Alex be manipulated into not believing Hunter.
I also really enjoyed Hunter being a caretaker and Alex enjoying feeling like a princess and being taken care of. Their relationship and Hunter's awakening felt very natural to me. They were very cute together and I loved that Hunter always wanted to surprise Alex with gifts. It was nice to see Hunter not freaking out, but being surprised at getting to 30 and not figuring out that he wasn't straight. He really leaned into the new experiences and I enjoyed that.

The dragons were also very cute and their little lovestory was a great side story! They were very cute and missed each other while being apart. They were very sweet while incubating the egg too.

I also enjoyed their little family of siblings and how well everyone meshed.

I enjoyed the story, but there were a couple of parts that I thought might have been left out, but also as a neurodivergent I felt like we needed all of the scenes. The writing was good and flowed well and I will probably end up reading the first 2 books in the series.

So, first of all, the positives. The dragons were cute, if a little underexplored as far as the reason for them existing and being used as companions goes. Alex and Hunter made for an interesting match, energy-wise, and their relationship was mostly non-toxic, which I liked. Give me a wholesome romance any day of the week. I liked the inclusion of the fashion aspect, even if it felt a bit tropey, it still added some nice flavor to Alex as a character. Their love of sandwiches was interestingly specific, but also cute. All in all, I was entertained by the story, and I think it will give people what they're looking for in terms of a fun meet-cute, steamy M/M romance.

Going into my criticisms of the book, I fully acknowledge that as an asexual person, I am likely not the target audience for this book, given how much of the content was about the physical part of the characters' relationship. Though there was definitely an emotional component, I felt distracted by the number of times the characters' physical reactions were mentioned outside of intimate scenes. It takes away from the depth and impact of the scene if literally everything from the person's voice to their actions circles back to the male chicken. Like, I get that the reader is probably reading this for the smexy times, but I feel like there has to be a story and character apart from the sensuality aspect of the book for it to feel fulfilling to me as a reader. If even the non-smexy time parts of the book are made all about smexy thoughts, it makes it hard to be invested in what's happening because it feels like the characters just become a vehicle for their own libidos.

Which brings me to my next point - the characters. I feel like we struggle a bit in the book with the characters having depth or falling back on tropes. Take Alex as a character, for example. He wears a lot of pink, he's all about rainbows and unicorns, and he kind of embodies flamboyancy for the sake of flamboyancy. We don't really get a sense of what about these things make him happy. He's a fashion designer, so obviously his personal style is important, a way to express himself, and I felt like it was played up more for the effect of making him seem "over the top" enough that his insecurities made sense rather than given actual depth. Like he's playing the trope of a gay character rather than having actual reasons for loving what he does. Conversely, you have Archer, who is kind of a caricature of a villain poised to make the main characters misunderstand each other, but to what end? Just to give the story a plot? It felt a little forced, like of course we need a mustache-twirling villain who doesn't seem to value his own career or livelihood much if he's this blatant about getting what he wants. Like, if everyone he works with or around knows he's a scoundrel, then it seems strange he hasn't been called out before this. And, like, why is he so obsessed with Alex? That much isn't clear to me even after finishing the book.

There were a few scenes that felt rushed to me, especially in regards to forming my perception of the secondary characters in this book. Alex's initial heart to heart with his sister when he first gets back to Denver feels rushed. Like, she brings all these supplies and drinks and stuff for them to have a proper discussion, but then after he tells her about Hunter, she gets up and leaves. That makes me feel like "this is a scene" rather than something actually happening in the story. And his sister is also, as a result, sidelined into being the flirty bisexual sibling trope rather than coming across as an actual human being. There were more moments like that with Tiff and Hunter where I felt like Tiffany was kind of just made out to be the nurturing older sister, but where was her personality, do we ever get a sense of the characters beyond their initial one-sentence descriptions? Not really. That is a bit of a letdown for me in a book that is largely about characters.

Also, I have to wonder if the author realizes that when the protagonist says, "Mr. Anderson," it feels like a thinly veiled Matrix reference. Something to think on.

But again, with all that being said, I think it probably hits its target audience differently, whereas someone looking to get more out of the book might feel more like I did. If you buy the book for anything, buy it for Franklin's little dance, because that was cute as all get-out. Trust me on this.

3.5 No Doubt is a sweet, low angst story about Hunter and Alex, who each have a dragon companion to mate. Although this book has these small dragons (that are more like cats or very small dogs), it is a contemporary romance in all other ways. Hunter has always thought of himself as straight. His quiet life for the last decade+ has been all about taking care of his siblings, especially his disabled younger brother, and also his work as a forester. Alex, on the other hand, is an up and coming fashion designer, definitely gay, and also rather flamboyant in terms of personal style. His dragon companion is also a bit extra, but apparently this does it for Elizabeth (Hunter's dragon) and they become mated dragons.

Over the course of the dragons having offspring, Hunter and Alex get to know one another, at first via texts and then later via FaceTIme - these exchanges are all very cute. In due course, they get to know one another in person as well and sparks fly between them. Things proceeds as they do - Hunter starts to realize that his sexual identity may not be what he thought it was. Alex and Hunter are very open about their feelings and thoughts with each other and communicate really well...until The Conflict that happens late in the book, of which I'm not a huge fan since it seems counter to how they have behaved with each other up until this point.

Overall, I did enjoy this book. I do think a lot of pages could have been trimmed to make everything just a bit tighter. There was a lot of repetition of words/phrases (I never want to hear the phrase "intimate/moment" again, for example) as well as with ideas/happenings. The pace was a bit slow an this could have been helped by trimming the book down a bit. For such a long book, I thought the smut could have been more descriptive, rather than having a lot of it be off page.

I really liked all but one of the characters in this book - the siblings were all great and I really did like both MCs, separately and together (well, except for a small part at the end that I already mentioned above). Their love story was very sweet & I liked being witness to it.

Thanks to GRR for an ARC - this is my honest review.

Started well but went downhill

I love the dragons in this series, even though they aren't really the main focus. They are very sweet and to have them as companions to bond with their human and help keep them grounded is very clever. That's what has kept me reading.
I loved Hunter and his siblings, their sad history impacting their lives but their closeness helping to keep them going. Alex didn't seem to have any issues that needed Franklin's help but the little dancing dragon was such fun.
The issues I had with the first two books are repeated here, with wrong tenses, missing or unnecessary speech marks, and stilted speech because contractions are used sparingly. It's often difficult to work out who's speaking because once one of them says something, the other one's actions follow immediately in the same paragraph. It takes a little while to get used to it. It's also a long book, as both the others are, and there's a lot of repetition.
What really accounted for the two star rating is the whole mentorship problem. Hunter and Alex had been communicating well, trusted each other and had professed their love, but when Alex got the chance to be mentored by Archer, things went completely off the rails. Hunter's spidey senses were tingling, as were mine, but Alex decided to ignore his and his behaviour to Hunter was appalling. It ruined the story for me and nothing of what was mentioned in the trigger warnings, apart from the punch. It should have included
The epilogue was nice, set two years later, letting us see how successful their careers were and giving Hunter and Alex their HEA.

This was book three in this lovely series. I’ve never read anything by this author but now, I need to read the other two books in this series. How can you not want to read a book that includes dragons and then later they have a baby?

Alex and Hunter were super cute. They meet when Hunter’s dragon Liz and Alex’s dragon Franklin decided to give it a go and mate. It was Hunter’s plan to get his brother a service dragon, which is the sweetest thing.

This book is very low angst, although later in the book, there is a bit of drama with the man named Archer, who got everything he deserved.

I loved Hunter in how he went through his sexuality awakening. Best one I read in a while. I also loved how he only wanted to pamper Alex when they got together and the fact he didn’t want Alex to change himself at all, which Alex wasn’t used to.

Alex is an upcoming fashion designer who is flamboyant and is everything that Hunter knew he would ever want, especially a man.

I felt so bad for Hunter when Archer tried to make him seem like the bad guy. I absolutely loved the side characters from the siblings, especially Hunter’s siblings who immediately called Alex family.

Through the pain the two went through, this book was a sweet one. I do wish it wasn’t so rushed towards the end, but it made it work for this book.

I received a copy of this book from Gay Romance Reviews, and this is my honest review.

This is the first book that I have read in this series and I was able to enjoy it without having read the previous books. This is the story of Alex and Hunter and their pet dragons Franklin and Elizabeth. Alex is an up and coming fashion designer and he is looking to make a little extra money by renting out Franklins services. Hunter is looking for a match with his dragon Elizabeth so that he can give the pup to his injured brother as a service animal. Hunter has been looking after what remains of his family since the car crash that took his parents and his sisters. It also injured his brother to the point that he is now in a wheelchair. Hunter is ecstatic when Elizabeth accepts Franklin as a suitor. So much so, he starts sending updates to Alex to let him know how it is progressing. As they two message back and forth, a friendship is formed. When Alex shows up in town, the sparks just fly between him and Hunter. This is their story. The book is written well and is easy to read. It is a low angst story but that is not to say that there are not troubles ahead. This is a fun story to read.

I received a complementary advanced review copy from the author and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

This is a very good series & hope there are going to be plenty more as I'm liking these dragons. I somehow missed book 2, but they can be read as standalones. The only issue is that Alex doesn't seem to have the separation anxiety like our MC & his dragon in the first book. So, we have Hunter whose brother is disabled, and wheelchair bound, and he wants to breed his dragon Liz so he can get a dragon for his brother. Apparently, Liz is a bit of a diva and has turned her back on all the males that came before Franklin. Franklin wins over Liz and hit it off. Then on top of that, Alex and Hunter hit it off & to Hunter's surprise, he is attracted to Alex. He has never been attracted to a man before. I loved watching this two grow to be friends and then more. There was a major misunderstanding that happened towards the end of the book, but it didn't stretch out too long. I loved having the epilogue, it really wrapped up the story.

I received a copy of this book from GRR, and this is my honest opinion.

No doubt is Book 3 in A Dragon Tale. This series is not to be confused with PNR dragon shifter story lines. These mini dragons are the size of a large cat and are bred to be companions and service animals. And you are definitely going to want one of your own.
Books one and two dealt with mental and emotional issues, loneliness, OCD, severe anxiety. Book 3 features an MC with a disabled brother. Hunter would like to breed his lovely dragon to get an egg for his younger brother who is in a wheelchair following an accident that claimed the life of their parents and two sisters. Hunter has crippling survivor's guilt over the accident and the over-the-top fashion designer who owns the potential dragon partner for his Elizabeth makes it his purpose to lift Hunter out of that hole. Alex’s dragon Frederick is as “extra” as his owner and they both brighten up Hunter and his family’s world.
I definitely look forward to more in the series from Tara and I so need a wee dragon of my own.

This is the first book I've read by this author and I enjoyed it. I didn't feel like I needed to read the other books to understand what was going on in this story. I thought the story was an interesting one. I liked the character and plot, even the side characters. It was nice to get to know some of them.

One thing I enjoyed is the way this book had dragons as pets. And that is how our lovely MMCs met. I liked that this was a friendship to lovers book. It was a little slower than what I normally read, but I still enjoyed it none the less. I liked that the characters talked things out and be honest with each other as well as trust each other. I liked that Hunter was more of the caretaker of the two, it made me smile throughout the story.

Overall, I'd say I enjoyed this story. I liked the plot and characters. I think the only thing I would say is that there were a few scenes I felt were a little slow, otherwise I still enjoyed it! I'd recommend if your looking for a friends to lovers romance than this is for you!

I adore this series! Hunter is on the hunt to find his dragon a mate for breeding and ends up finding one for himself in the process.

Alex and Hunter are so sweet. Hunter always assumed that he was straight and it wasn't until he found himself enjoying the flirty conversations between him and Alex that he realized that he was not. The responsibility that he took on caring for his disabled brother is what leads him to look for a dragon to breed with his dragon. He wants to provide a service dragon for his brother.

All is well as Hunter and Alex get closer. They have serious conversations and work through their issues—that is until Archer inserts himself into their relationship. This leads to a lot of miscommunication and trouble in paradise. This felt a little out of character for the guys as they previously discussed any issues they were having.

As always, the dragons were so cute! I want a support dragon for myself! I loved their dances and how they loved the whole cast of characters.

Overall, what a great addition to the series! This was a 4-star read for me.

Third in the series and I love how each couple met so differently but all have one thing in common their dragons. In this story Hunter needed a male dragon for his dragon Liz to have a baby dragon by. In step Franklin and his owner Alex and the start of a friendship.
I enjoyed watching Alex and Hunter's romance wasn't rushed watching their friendship growing first all thanks to the dragons and how the dragon's personalities were similar to the MCs.
There was a few bumps in the road to romance, one was completely unexpected and at times I couldn't believe what was happening. The character's siblings have a big part in the story which I enjoyed knowing more about them.
This was a slower pace book to what I usually read but I really enjoyed the story, and was hooked from the start.
I have said it before with this series and I will say it again. I cannot wait to read more and find out which luckily characters have their own little dragon.

I liked the first two books in the series, in particular I enjoyed the author’s take on dragons in this world. It’s pretty unique and allows the humans and the dragons to have a unique bond. I especially loved how similar Alex and his dragon Frederick are and how particular Liz is in picking her mate - they were a fun addition to the story. I loved the friendship Hunter and Alex developed, that was maybe my favorite part. I also liked the pace of the relationship overall, Hunter and Alex try to allow their attraction to evolve naturally. I also really liked how supportive and close Hunter is with his siblings. This has been my favorite couple so far in the series, they have quite a lovely connection and I loved their HEA.

There was something really neat about this story in that Hunter went in search of a mating partner for his dragon so that he could provide a dragon companion for his brother. His dragon Liz is a bit choicy and does not respond to the other dragons he brought her way until she meets Alex's dragon Franklin. And interestingly, Hunter and Alex hit it off as well. Although they are very different - Alex is a lot and he knows it - Hunter finds himself in the midst of a gay awakening. The parallel courtships of the tiny dragons and Hunter and Alex were delightful to read. Alex and Franklin were quite a pair and they truly brought flavor into Hunter and Liz's world. Too cute. I am looking forward to more dragons. This series is a delight.

Hunter, takes on the responsibility of caring for his disabled brother, is determined to improve their lives after a tragic accident. His ambitious plan to breed a dragon service animal for his brother leads him to Franklin, a truly exceptional dragon, and his vibrant companion, Alex.
Alex, a daring fashion designer, fully embraces his authenticity and recognizes a lucrative opportunity in Franklin's breeding, despite the initial challenge of dealing with Hunter, the straight and attractive owner of the female dragon. As they collaborate, an undeniable chemistry ignites between Alex and Hunter, prompting both to question their feelings and identities.
This story delves into themes of self-discovery, acceptance, and the complexities of relationships, as Hunter embarks on a journey of awakening and grapples with the idea of having someone like Alex in his life. Their shared experiences become a heartfelt exploration of love, identity, and the true essence of being oneself.

Delightfully sweet story! Alex, a designer, is out, proud and unapologetically loud. He is happy and comfortable with who and what he is. He adores his dragon companion, Franklin. Hunter, is a Forest Ranger and considers himself responsible for his younger siblings. He vows to have his beloved dragon, Elizabeth have a baby so it would be a service animal for his brother who survived a horrific accident when he was 14. He shares his life between work and his siblings taking comfort from Elizabeth. Alex and Hunter bond through the courtship of Elizabeth and Franklin. They become friends and a few surprises develop. Delightful story with an excellent flow. Nice character development and great supporting family. Well done! I received an ARC adn am voluntarily leaving a review.

This was a cute story that had a lot of positives and very few negatives. I really liked Alex and Hunter both as individuals and as a couple. I loved that Alex was true to himself and wasn’t willing to change. One of the weaknesses with Alex was he seemed to be almost a caricature of a flamboyant gay man. There was a lot of focus on his clothing which fit with his occupation but his fashion choices ended up being a substitute for writing him as a fully fleshed out character. Hunter was a total cinnamon roll and all I wanted to do was reach into the pages and give him a hug. I loved how he was able to so easily accept his feelings for Alex and I liked the explanation given for his nonchalance with finding himself attracted to a man for the first time in his life. I loved loved loved the dragons in this story. It was an interesting take that I had never come across before. I would have loved even more of the dragons and their interactions both with each other and with Alex and Hunter. I was not a fan of the miscommunication between Alex and Hunter that led to the third act strife. I felt like we had already dealt with and moved on from the main issue that caused the strife but it came roaring back in and it made no sense for either of the characters.

This book was amazing. It was a beautiful love story along with the scenes about dragons. This story is about two men meeting to breed their dragons for one MMC’s handicapped brother. They turn into lovers and fight through all of the problems of a gay couple. This story is a brilliant interpretation of what the world is like with the LGBT+ community and it does wonders for the soul. I absolutely loved it and could not put it down. The main characters were beautifully written and the challenges that they went through alone and then through together brought this whole story together in one cohesive piece.

I admit. I read these books for the dragons. This was a good read though. Alex and Hunter had some issues they needed to work through and Alex’s blindness in his career almost killed their relationship but they realized they needed to trust their instincts and each other. And of course, dragons! I do love how Alex isn’t afraid to be himself. Hunter wasn’t my favorite guy at first. He seemed a little to “I know I’m a hot dude bro” for me, but he proved he was more than that as the story went on.

I absolutely LOVE this series and this book didn't disappoint. The only thing I didn't like was how Alex kept believing the worse of Hunter instead of letting him explain his side. But in the end it all worked out and I thought it was a well written book and look forward to reading the next book in this series. I highly recommend reading this series in order. I would love to have a dragon to help with my anxiety especially if it's like Franklin & his funny dance. I received an ARC of this book for my honest review.

This is my first book by Tara Bennett. I really enjoyed it. Hunter and Alex our MC’s were both deserving of an amazing love and they got it. It was a gay awakening for Hunter with a fabulous out and proud gay man. Plus it had little dragons. How can you not love that. It was low angst (OK so you may want to punch someone towards the end…that’s OK it’s taken care of for you) and the family dynamic was awesome. I highly recommend this book. Enjoy

Story makes me wish dragons were real

Love the direction that Tara Bennett has taken this series, with this mini dragon being deliberately bread to help a disabled brother. Bennett works so many side stories into this book, while never taking anything away from the main story. I loved Alex, who like me is rather EXTRA and is lots of fun to read about. He makes a great contrast to Hunter and Bennett milks those contrasts in the best ways. I really enjoyed this book.

This is such an original series I get so excited when a new story is out. We get the pairing of Alex and Hunter as a result of the mating of their dragons. Alex's Dragon Franklin stole the show as he stole Liz's heart as well. I loved that the Dragons are small and Franklin being so over the top just like his owner Alex was really cute.

Hunter & Alex

I really enjoyed reading Alex & Hunter's story. I appreciated the communication between these two throughout the majority of the story which is why the last 10-15% of the book took away from things for me. Even with that though, it was a good read.

Loved the contrast between Hunter and Alex but how deep down they shared so many values and beliefs about what was important. This was a grand couple to round out the series with. I was also delighted with the idea that in a world with dragons, a dragon could be a service animal.
