Adaela Swan is a girl with many talents. One of those talents is that she can transform into a hero to fight crime. She is contracted under the King of Kirium and must report to him every two weeks with what activities she has done. As far as she knows she has no past, no ties, and a raging crush on the Ancient King Dragon. Despite her appearance and bravery, she's nervous she'll lose what little she has. Whether she realizes it or not, she can no longer run from the past she no longer remembers.
King Leon Cedarvine is the Ancient King Dragon of the kingdom of Kirium. His family has ruled for hundreds of years. He has fallen for the girl who poses as the Author, a vigilante who cares for his people and country as much as he does. He longs to protect her and to call her his, to call her his queen. It's a shame she can't seem to recognize how blatantly he's flirting with her.
“I’d fight the moon and stars for you. Dedicate my whole life to loving you. You’ll never be left wanting my love. Everything that I am, everything I own; is all yours.”
Thanks to reedsy for the arc.
"Scales and Feathers" presents an enchanting tale of fairies, dragons, and a 'late bloomer' protagonist, readers can expect a magical twist on the classic tale ‘Beauty and the beast’. Weave a captivating narrative for readers on reimagined fairytales.
The story revolves on Adaela Swan, the object of the king's desire and affection but oblivious to the affections of King Leon to her. Contracted under the king’s, after losing memory of her past, she took on an identity as “Author”. Possessing a magical ability to bring life to words she wrote on paper.
While the novel presents an undeniably unique plot-line, the world building falls somewhat short and needs more in-depth exploration. Particularly on the Kingdoms and the diverse magical beings such as Fairies, Dragons, Wolves, Half-Dragon and a comprehensive delve into each of the character’s origins or more explanation on the pure spectators to understand the plot-line better.
The slow-burning romance between Adaela and Leon blossom nicely, with the romantic pace picking up right after he save her/ or more like his nephew helped Leon to save her, it further blossom after he marked her and she turns into a late-bloomer, Dragon.
"Scales and Feathers" remains an enjoyable read for readers who love a magical realism world and reimagine fairy tale with a fresh perspective on the interplay between wolves, dragons, and fairies.
Look forward to the second chronicles of this novel.
