Artificial intelligence embedded in the U.S. nuclear defense system reacted to an accidental launch
World War III began. Russia and China retaliated. North Korea and Iran joined in the destruction of the Great Satan. Altogether more than one thousand nuclear warheads struck the U.S., effectively decimating the country. The EMP effect of nuclear detonations destroyed the power grid and electronics across America. Fires spreading from impact areas burned anything left. Trees, grass, homes - all burned. Smoke and radioactive particles in the atmosphere darkened the sun. The U.S. first strike and retaliatory launches glassed North Korea and Iran. Hundreds of warheads removed Russia as an active player. China also received damage from hundreds of bombs. While hundreds of millions of Chinese died in the flurry of destruction, there were still billions remaining for a while. Infrastructure and economy will kill more than a billion more.
The Bartletts on Swan Island, choking on the fumes and dust blowing in from the mainland, held out as long as they could. Helping friends and neighbors recover supplies and fixing EMP damaged engines on the fishing fleets. The Bartletts' youngest son, Joey, had spent the previous summer visiting Argentina. He had stayed with a family in Bartiloche, Argentina. The Fisher family had taken Joey in and treated him like family. Joey had fallen head-over-heels in love with their daughter Anna. Manfred and Ushi Fisher could help the Bartletts reestablish in Argentina. Billy and Tammy Bartlett, their oldest son Mickey, his wife Josie and their three children, and Joey were taking their lobster trawler down the coast of North America to Argentina. Abbie Bartlett, now Abbie Murphy, and husband Daniel had been honeymooning in Switzerland when war broke out. Their journey home was an epic story all its own. The Bartletts left directions and hoped to unite with the Murphys in Argentina.
The characters and storyline are as usual excellent. Told by the master of mayhem, the storyline draws you into the tale, making the reader a part in the Aftermath of Nuclear War. This final book in the series is, as expected, an amazing read!

A Positively Glowing Post-Apocalyptic Novel
It's been a long, scary, and often disheartening journey from Swann's Island, Maine, to the gorgeous mountains of Bariloche, Argentina, for the lobstering family of the Bartlett's.
This last leg is a doozy. The family had just gotten settled in at the lodge in Bariloche. Daniel had gone back to the Naval Station to be of assistance. While on the phone with Abbie, he had just finished telling her, "Everything is good." And all she could hear was Daniel's scream and explosions before the phone cut off.
Up in Bariloche, a short time passed, and then they lost power. And the air raid sirens came on announcing, "Incoming Missiles, Take Evasive Strategies." Directed by their host family, everyone flees underground into the extinct volcanic tunnels.
Much to Argentina's President Milie's dismay, China has decided to move its people to the country, only in a much more hostile manner than the USA. The Bartlett family scrambled to find out if Daniel was okay and what the situation looked like.
Big barricades still need to be hurdled if the refugees from the United States can settle in Argentina, and if the Bartlett family is to stay together. How long can you hold your breath? I hope it's a while because you won't be putting this book down to breathe!
Thanks again, Bobby Akart, for a thoroughly engrossing series to read. My favorite part was the lobster boat bringing up all of those fresh lobsters. I'm sending you the bill when I go binge-eating lobster. Smile.

Awesome Series!
If you're looking for a series with a compelling story, don't miss this one. Unfortunately, I'm sure we're closer to nuclear devastation than any of us can imagine. This administration seems obsessed with AI and is using it increasingly for national security purposes. While I agree that there are benefits with that strategy, this story will strengthen the stance that there should always be human involvement when it comes to the nuclear football. Bobby Akart does his homework for each series he writes and the results are chilling in Aftermath. Prepare yourself for a ride when you start with Book One. You'll be frantically turning the pages to get to the next chapter, while being in awe of this preview of what may well become our reality. This series wrapped up beautifully, although I could definitely have read more about the characters I came to love!

An action packed and fitting conclusion!
Aftermath 6 is the final book in Bobby Akart's deeply disturbing Nuclear Winter series, and is more action packed that the earlier installments. As always, Akart provides a prologue featuring current news articles to demonstrate just how close this scenario is to come to fruition. The Bartletts fight for themselves, for others and for the common good. Overall, A stellar finale to a stellar series. I can't wait to see what Smart thinks of next! 5/5 stars, highly recommended for fans of Akart and anyone interested in meticulously constructed post apocalyptic survival thrillers!

Edge of Your Seat!
The worse part of this series was waiting for the next book!! From the beginning word in Book 1 to the final word in Book 6 it was well worth reading! Found myself holding my breath and then cheering the characters on to crying over the losses experienced by the characters! Definitely well worth reading! Well done Bobby Ahart! Well done! Any books written by this author is well worth the loss of sleep and the overwhelming urge to forget daily chores to read his books! Excellent!!

What a great series
The Bartlett family miraculously reaches Argentina after the nuclear strike on America.
They reach Bariloche and meet the Fischer family, who Joey befriended on a previous trip before the war. Both families help each other survive.
The Chinese attempt to invade Argentina from Chile, but the determined people of Bariloche, led by Bernhard and Daniel, are able to stop the initial force.
The book is exciting and an intriguing story. A very enjoyable read.

Outstanding!!
Although I'm sad to have the Bartlett's journey end, I'm happy that they were able to reach their goals. This whole series was well written and researched (as usual)! A lot of action, and as usual with Bobby Akart's books, each book was an all-nighter read that kept me wanting for more. Will be excited to see what Bobby's next project will be. Keep 'em coming Bobby!!

The more time you take to read this book, the more sleep you will lose
So well written you would think Mr. Akart is an employee of the Atomic Energy Commission, The United States Army, Marines, Air Force and the Navy. Also the U.S.Coast Guard, The U.S Lobstermen and God know what else.(read more of Bobby’s books and add your own employment suggestions).
I don’t know how he sleeps with all this knowledge he carries around.

The Bartlett's have gone through many terrifying obstacles on their journey from Swan Lake, Maine to a small village in Argentina where they were welcomed with open arms but will this last. As the US starts to send survivors of the nuclear war to Argentina, they realize China has the same idea but want to conquer it first by military methods. This is the nail biting conclusion to the series which was definitely worth the read.

The charm of Bobby Akart books is that they are well researched and very detailed in their descriptions. This combined with the emotional ties that come naturally with family relationships make this an outstanding story. Many people can research many people can write, but Bobby Ahart does both well. Great Series
The Nuclear war survival series was well written. It held enough quality facts to keep the reader well informed. Its scary to think something like this could really happen. One item of interest would have been nice to mix in all the people whom have built personnel underground bunkers in the US and gain a perspective how they would or would not survive? Overall great series and enjoyed the read.

Series is OK
Series is OK but is limited in its reality. The author states he uses real territories for his books but continues to refer to the gulf of America in this series. Look at every map or at atlas and you will see this does not exist only in the pedophile trumps mind. Until this author realizes he needs to back away from the right wing radicals I will no longer support him.

This is a must read. I truly had no clue how this series would end, right up until Puerto Frais Immigration Checkpoint. (I LOVE that.) I cried.
I will miss the Bartlett Family.

Love the characters in this series. They are the kind of people you want to be friends with. Very satisfying end to this series, although an extremely frightening scenario. No one, with a sane mind should want any of these events to happen. One hopes that the world leaders will do everything to avoid it and saner minds will prevail. AI can help in many situations, but it has a dark downside and the world must be vigilant. Bobby Akart has an ability to bring it to light, but I hope it never happens.

Excellent series. I felt like I was there going through all that they did. I got upset a few times with Abbie. She came through like she was a spoiled brat. Because of her temper due to her red hair, I know because I am a redhead with a temper. But she brought on a few problems because of it. Joey and Anna make a good couple. I recommend everyone to read this series.

The ending is as exciting as the beginning! The Bartlett family faces so many catastrophic events that would surely derail the as vet age person. I want old hope I would face the aftermath with as much courage.

Another great read in this series. The references to current events is a great touch. Sad to reach the end of the Aftermath journey. My one comment is that Augusta is the capital of Maine, not Bangor.

Enjoyable Conclusion
I read all the series as they came out. Good story and details well written. Of course it was predictable. But by now this genre is getting a bit worn. Still I recommend the series because of the quality of the writing.

Absolutely fantastic read!
I never want to go through nuclear war or winter, but if you want to experience it this is the only way to do it, read about it. And Bobby Akart is the author to take yoe sadly through it.

An enjoyable end to the series, I'm glad the Swan's Island story was wrapped up but I did feel that other parts ended rather abruptly, but overall the series was a good read.
