Stranded Hearts

Rate this book
In a chance encounter on a plane, Dominique Bates and Lance Carr find themselves stranded overnight due to a flight delay.

Dominique has trauma surrounding flying after watching her father’s plane catch fire and crash as a child, and Lance is the complete opposite—he loves to travel. Complete opposites, they clash at first, but as the night progresses, they begin to open up to each other, sharing stories and dreams.

Dominique sheds her fears as they talk, finding solace in Lance’s presence. Likewise, Lance is drawn to Dominique’s warmth and strength.

Their encounter sparks a romance neither expected, showing them that love can blossom in the most unexpected of places. As they part ways once they are finally back home, they know their lives will never be the same.

My heart broke for Dominique as she went through the horror of watching her father's plane go down in flames at eight years old. Twenty years later, grief still has her in its clutches, and her fear of flying is palpable. 💔 However, she talks her way through it each time, but this time......

Lance is dead tired, and ready to enjoy his flight home, when a beautiful woman comes to sit next to him. When he sees the terror in her eyes, and the trembling of her body, he realizes that she is afraid of flying and jumps into action. The way this man took her hands, and prayed over her was swoon worthy, and sexy as hell! 🤩 After she calms herself Dominique wonders, who is this man, and where has he been? When their plane is grounded, Dominique finds solace in Lance, as he seems to make everything better, however she doesn't understand why.

Lance is doing all he can to ease Dominique's fears; while letting her know he is feeling her big time. Within 24 hours they talk, laugh, flirt, and their hearts and minds gravitate towards each other. What a beautiful story! 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾

Lance and Dominique, Finding Love in Place that Hurt You

I cried like a baby in the beginning of this book!!!…Listening to what Dominque experienced watching that plane crash, devastated my heart!!!…The grief that was to follow over the days, months and years make you feel like it just happened!!!…
You bottle up those feelings and hope they go away!!!…You never think that letting those feelings and emotions out is the 1st step of freeing yourself!!!…
You have to learn a new way of living because you are still here and cherish the moments you still have to live and enjoy each and every step!!!…Remember the days and moments you shared with your love one, but know that it’s okay for you to keep living out loud!!!…
I love how Lance was so willing to walk this journey with Dominique and see her through to her healing!!!…

Serendipitous Mile High Journey

My goodness, I can’t fathom the horror, torment & trauma associated with watching dozens of people perish during a perceived normal flight. But more so, an innocent child obediently squelches her limited means of expressed love and fears for her daddy “not to go”! 😢…As a daddy’s girl too, “Stranded Heart” I enjoyed the banter, surprisingly humorous moments & the unconventional opportunity for two single people met. What a great story (their last names were confusing 🤷🏾‍♀️🤔?), a difficult one😥 but still an entertaining read‼️ Thereafter, all things work together (even in our/their trepidations), a HEA for Dominique & Lance on their serendipitous mile high journey emerged🥰‼️

Stranded hearts

I liked the concept of this book from the synopsis but after reading it, I felt like something was missing. I loved that Lance prayed over Dominique in her time of stress about flying and continued to provide her peace and comfort during the layover, but I would have loved if we were able to see more of them outside of the airport and their layover. This book could be used as a pallet cleanser as there is no drama but is filled with a man who meets a woman and knows almost instantly that he wants more with her and shoots his shot through covering her in prayer and encouragement that she can overcome her fears and get through her grief.

Lance and Dominique were really cute. I liked how they acknowledged the pull and attraction between them and decided to explore it.

I also liked that Lance was really in tune with God…even though he talking about he’s not really religious. Like ok sir 🙄 you’re literally praying powerful prayers and hearing God speak to you. Gon head somewhere lol.

I really identified with Dominique and had to skip a lot of the paragraphs about her father. I read enough to understand her fear of flying, but I’m also a daddy’s girl who lost her father a few months ago and just couldn’t stomach reading more than I needed to. It just hit too close to home, the therapy session included.

Stranded Hearts

Not gonna lie, I cried so hard I put the book down. I wasn’t ready for the turmoil Dominique experienced. No wonder she was so closed off. I think I would have been too. Lance was God sent, a pure angel! I love him. I love everything main character m. The way the PRAYED you hardly see that. I highlighted a few quotes from our girl Charese (I can’t remember the spelling) lol! It was a great LOVE story!

Not what I expected

I know the author said this isn’t the typical drama filled, lies, cheating, deception book which was why I thought I’d enjoy it. Truly there’s no time frame on grief and it doesn’t end it just gets better to cope with for some which I understand, but I feel as if more time was spent talking about her fear and deceased father that when it was time to develop their relationship, the book was done.

I Ioved how Lance prayed over Dominique to give her strength over her fears and the other prayers in the book. Lance was just who Dominique needed, and Lance made sure she didn't get away. Dominique seeking help and the other changes in her life was just the things that she needed to prevail. This book was well-written although I was looking for more spice, and I wanted more at the end.

when a man knows, HE KNOWS

What a wonderful love story! The min Lance saw Dominique, he knew she was someone he had to get to know. Within 24hrs he knew she was his one. The one God made just for him!! Dominique, has some challenges, they are justified, but Lance is the perfect person to get her through them!

Loved It

My first time reading a book by this author, but it won't be my last time! I would recommend this book, if you're dealing with grief and believe in love having no time limit! You will definitely need your tissue, as it will be an emotional roller coaster, happy, sad, challenging faith, and some humor. Lance and Dominique were truly meant to be together!

Just sad

This was just perpetual sadness, I get grieving a loss but like Batman she lived in her sadness for over twenty years, she was the walking Eyesore. That has to be tiring. I'm glad she got help at the very end, but this book was emotionally draining, she was kind of over dramatic as well, I didn't care for this story.

Beautiful Love Story

Ms. Riley did her thing with this book. I love how she allowed Dominique to feel the grief and then helped her with the help of Lance and her therapist work through it. I love a praying man!!

The book was okay. I liked how lance helped her get through her trauma. I loved how patient he was with her and how he prayed for her. There isn’t a timeline on healing from grief.

Stranded Hearts

This was such a beautifully written love story. Short and oh so sweet zero drama. Lance did not play about Dominique. That man prayer for her and went to God on her behalf. This book gave me all the warm and gushy feels.

I feel cheated

The fact that this skips the ENTIRE relationship let me down. If this has been a real book instead of a e-book, I would’ve flung it across the room.

Beautifully written short story

This was a well written short story about grief and love. It didn’t have any spicy scenes…… BUT, It was funny and engaging and I loved it. Having a man that prays over you and don’t know you is everything.
