Sheriff Roy Carson can no longer ignore his dark family secret…
Genoa, Nevada, 1865. Arriving at his hometown after the bloody Civil War, the former sheriff Roy Carson finds his family murdered. The only remaining survivors are his prejudiced grandfather and his rival stepbrother, Pete. With Pete suspected of vile trafficking crimes, Roy steps up as sheriff once again. As the new sheriff, he appoints his black friend Barry as deputy, stirring tension in the community. When a fiery woman seeks work, Roy’s instincts kick in. Can he restore justice and save his town, or will the shadows of his own making bring about his downfall?
In this gripping tale of loss and love, inspired by C.J. Petit’s and Zane Grey’s favorite tales, Roy's quest for peace challenges the very essence of his spirit.

Really enjoyed this book as it dealt with the fact of racial bias and family relations. A person is defined by how their character and actions not their skin color or sex. There will always be evil people hurting others and seeking to take advantage of others. The storyline shows that good men and women must stand up and be counted on to do what is right no matter the cost to oppose the evil intentions of evil people.
You can't do wrong get by. Eventually you will be caught. It's sad that human trafficking is still going strong today. This is well written and full of history. Thank you for not using bad language! I enjoy all of your stories.
This was a great read full of action, drama, love and forgiveness. This book proves members being on the opposite sides of the law can be amended in the middle of chaos, especially, since all the pain and problems began as children with great misunderstandings and hurts. A great read.
Zachary McRae had woven another great yarn for us. His stories appear to be simple tales but in the same fashion as Louis Lamour he adds a grave moral sense into his stories. Strong characters interesting story lines and of course pretty women. Thanks Zachary for s great read.
