Kendall Matthews has been a detective with the LA County for years now, and a successful one at that. She's never found herself unable to solve a question presented to her, but a seemingly simple case may change all of that. When she's called to assist in solving the murder of Christopher Mallin, a seventeen year old who was killed in the garage of his girlfriend's home there's not a single shred of evidence to assist her.
It certainly doesn't help that the entire family spouts one lie after another, obscuring everything they can from her. There's something just not right about the whole thing, and the only person willing to help her is Claire, Chris' girlfriend. As she's drawn into the anger and jealousy that plagued the entire family throughout the young couple's relationship, she has to cope with the ever increasing threats being made against her. if she gets out of this unscathed it will be a miracle.
