The Sugarlake Tragedy
The narrative revolves around a lake called SUGARLAKE, existing between two nations known as Calibgon and Lolligon, on an island in the Pacific. The pollution created by the humans triggered the tragedy.
A one-of-a-kind novel as for the first time any reader will become the main character of the story while reading it, irrespective of gender, age or native place, as it has been presented in such a unique perspective, considering all scenarios. You have to decide certain things while reading in between and your decisions will decide where you end up with the story.

On one lucky day of 2019, he finally discovered something in the field of science and wanted to share it with the world. Sugarlake Tragedy by Mr. Sharad is a prime example of how a potentially interesting concept can be utterly ruined by terrible execution. From the outset, the premise promises something unique—a novel where the reader becomes the main character, with their decisions shaping the outcome of the story. Unfortunately, what sounds like an innovative approach quickly devolves into a confusing, poorly structured mess that does nothing but frustrate.
The narrative, set around a lake on an island between two fictional nations, Calibgon and Lolligon, is so thin and poorly developed that it’s hard to care about any of the events unfolding. The environmental disaster at the heart of the story, caused by human pollution, is handled with all the subtlety of a sledgehammer. Rather than making you think, it feels like you’re being lectured by someone with only a surface-level understanding of the issues they're attempting to explore.
The "interactive" aspect of the book, where readers make decisions that influence the plot, is nothing short of a disaster. The choices are arbitrary and meaningless, leading to dead ends or nonsensical outcomes that feel disconnected from the rest of the story. Instead of enhancing the experience, it turns what should be an engaging read into a tedious chore, as you slog through options that ultimately make no difference.
Mr. Sharad’s writing is another major flaw. The prose is flat, uninspired, and littered with awkward phrasing. There’s no sense of pacing or tension, and the dialogue is so stilted and unnatural that it’s impossible to believe in the characters or their world. Speaking of characters, they’re nothing more than empty vessels meant to serve the plot—there’s no depth, no development, and certainly no reason to care about them.
What’s most frustrating is the missed potential. The idea of combining scientific discovery with fiction could have been something special, but instead, it’s treated as an afterthought. The so-called discovery Mr. Sharad was so eager to share is buried under layers of poorly conceived narrative and fails to deliver any meaningful impact.

The book revolves around the mysteries of a lake named Sugarlake, which is located between the imaginary nations, Calibgon and Lolligon (an island in the Pacific Ocean). The book envisions the most global issue - Environmental pollution. It is set in the readers pov and the most interesting part of the book was the choices. The author had shown the divergements of the story according to the choices made by the readers. Along with fantasy, science and romance, the book was an all rounder.

Effectually, though, the saga goes around the rising pollution plaguing the once pristine Sugarlake, an essential part of the ecosystem standing face-to-face with disaster unless drastic measures are undertaken urgently.
It has a narrative with rich world-building, development of characters, and a riveting storyline that interweaves mystery, science fiction, and environmentalism. This is one of a kind book I have read till now. I mean it is spectacular and I haven’t read such a book in my reading journey till now. This is the first book atleast in my knowledge that makes the reader the protagonist of the book. I mean not only this book is first person’s POV but it is written as if the reader is the one in the story.
This book is very much intriguing and makes you attached to the book in such a way that you cant keep the book down once started. It is totally binge-worthy book like you would haven’t read before that is my guarantee.
This is a sci-fi book and the story makes you believe that it can be reality soon if we don’t stop acting like we are the supreme in this world.
This book is about a touris who lands in callibgon- a small island which is very famous for tourism, so much that it thrives on tourism only. He/she meets a guide there who takes them to a hotel and after they go to see around the island, they meet another tourist who instantly gals up to them but the next morning the other tourist is found dead in their room and the last person he was seen with was the protagonist so the blame is on them of the murder.
Read the book to find out how they escape the police custody and find themselves in a bigger trouble that changes their whole life. This book is quite straightforward and you will keep finding answers that are very hard to find and till the end you cant guess how the ending is going to happen and the ending will change your whole thinking and answers that you were so desperate to find in the whole book.
This amazing work by Sharad Rastogi is too intriguing to read and I am very excited for all the readers here to read it. I hope it reaches all the right audience who knows the value of a true thriller sci-fi novel and this book gets more praises that it deserves. I am also excited to read from him

This book is a sci-fi thriller that talks about pollution in a very unique way—by making you, the reader, the main character. It was full of twists and surprises that kept me hooked. The mystery just kept getting deeper, which made the story even more fun and exciting.
What I liked the most was how the book lets you make choices for your character. It felt like I was really part of the story, and that made the experience different and more interesting. There were also separate sections for male and female readers. Honestly, I didn’t think it made much of a difference—except for one specific reason that I won’t spoil!
The book uses some very difficult words and phrases, so I suggest keeping a dictionary or Google nearby while reading. It also includes a lot of science terms and experiments, which were hard to understand for someone like me who doesn’t come from a science background.
Some parts of the book left me shocked—and not really in a good way. I personally wouldn’t recommend reading the smut sections, as they felt bizarre and uncomfortable. That said, if you're a fan of unhinged and unconventional content, you might actually find it amusing. I laughed a lot—after staring at a wall for ten straight minutes, trying to process it.
The character names were also a bit hard to remember, especially for someone like me who already struggles with normal names. I think the idea behind the story was really good, but the way it was written could have been better.

This book takes you on a sci-fi adventure through two fictional countries Calibgon and Loligon, which are connected by a special lake called "Sugarlake". The story revolves around how rising pollution is disturbing the balance of this lake, and how that imbalance could lead to serious consequences for Earth if not handled in time.
The story sends a strong message about the environment. It shows how human actions especially the overuse of resources can hurt nature. It reminds us of the importance of maintaining balance in the environment and how nature is deeply connected to our future.
One unique thing about this book is that "there is no named main character" the main character is YOU the reader! The story is told in first person and you can choose to read from either a male or female point of view, depending on who you are. I really liked this idea it was interesting. In fact, I was so curious that I ended up reading both versions in some chapters and it was fun to see how each one played out!
The side characters were interesting too but I must admit that it was a bit hard to fully understand everything about them. Some parts of the story felt a little confusing.
The author's writing style is not very simple. It might be difficult specially for beginner readers. However, the author has written some scenes really well they were exciting, creative, and fun to read. I found myself wanting more of those types of moments.
Overall it was a nice read with a strong message and a creative way of storytelling. It might not be the easiest book to read but if you enjoy sci-fi and care about nature it’s worth giving a try!

This was my first time reading a science fiction book, and it made me feel a lot of things. At first, I kept forgetting the characters' names, especially since the reader is the main character in the story.

It’s legit so good and perfectly crafted. The Sugarlake Tragedy is the first sci-fi book that I read and damn I didn’t know I’d love it so much.
Fun fact is that the main character of the book is whoever is reading the book. As the author said, “It’s different for a 20-year-old while it’s completely different for a 40-year-old. It’s totally different for a male as it is for a female.” You won’t realise how just by my descriptions, you’ll have to give it a read yourself.
So the story starts when the main character reaches Calibgon and meet a guy named Henry Eagle Beagle and face some things that you are not supposed to learn about. Then begins the loop of twists and turns in the story, you have the choice to be the hero, to save people, to save the planet and to defeat the mythological character.
Damn, it’s such a great read! Half the book I kept blaming Henry for whatever was happening to the main character. 🤣
Each character in the book is so well defined, their traits, looks and deeds, you can actually feel like you’re watching a movie.

I totally enjoyed the book, a fast paced thriller.
It keeps you on your toes. And I think it's the first of its kind in a way that it allows you to be the protagonist of the story, you can choose who you want to be, and the story will change accordingly. One wrong move and you could end up done for because At certain key moments the author also allows you to choose what happens.... Crazyyyyy!!

You come on vacation to this peaceful city called Calibgon and you are soon wound up in its people. You find yourself as the prime suspect in the murder of the newest friend you made last night and everyone who tries to help you eventually dies.
But that's not all there is to this book. The Sugarlake tragedy is an eye opener book and a humble appeal towards society to focus more on the nature and protecting it rather than continuing to be blinded towards the environment.
It is like a comfort read for people who like twisted stories but with a moral at the end.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and it's so well written that you won't be able to put it down.

I like the main plot of the story. Although the fluctuating pace of the book and too many characters bothered me, but the book kept me hooked till the end. The climax is satisfying and makes the book worth reading. Read it if you like sci-fi genre and have some patience.
