Dieses Review behandelt die deutsche Ausgabe, erschienen bei DK Deutschland unter der ISBN Nummer 3831051410.
Doug Chiang hat als „Senior Vice President & Executive Design Director“ von Lucasfilm recht, wenn er sagt, dass es Freude macht, in einem solchen Buch zu stöbern und immer wieder aufs Neue in die Welten von Star Wars einzudringen.
Das Buch beginnt mit einer sehr detaillierten Karte der Star-Wars-Galaxie, die einmal im Ganzen und anschließend in Quartalen gezeigt wird. Anschließend gibt es Kurzprofile der wichtigsten Planeten inklusive der Koordinaten, wo diese in der Galaxie zu finden sind. Eine Übersicht, die ich bisher noch nicht so häufig gesehen habe.
Dann folgen der Hauptteil und die eigentlichen Highlights dieses Buchs. Nämlich markante Orte und detaillierte Beschreibungen der Planeten. Zusätzlich werden bekannte Gebäude im Schnitt dargestellt und gewähren damit der Leserschaft einen Blick ins Innere. Ausgeschmückt werden die Inhalte mit entsprechenden Szenen aus den Filmen, so dass ein umfassendes Bild entsteht.
Es ist ein Buch zum Stöbern, das mit vielen Fotografien und Grafiken aufwarten kann. Die optischen Hingucker werden natürlich entsprechend beschrieben und einige markante Details hervorgehoben, aber oftmals macht es einfach nur Spaß, durch das Buch zu Blättern und hier und da in die unterschiedlichen Welten einzutauchen.
Fazit
Die Star-Wars-Galaxis ist mit jedem Film und jeder Serie immer weiter gewachsen. Die Anzahl der unterschiedlichen Planeten und Welten ist enorm und hat eine sehr abwechslungsreiche Vielfalt geschaffen. Und genau diese Vielfalt wird mit diesem Buch deutlich, denn jede bekannte Welt und jeder bekannte Schauplatz wird sehr ausführlich gezeigt und beschrieben. Das Buch ist ein Muss für jeden Star-Wars-Liebhaber.

As a reader of Star Wars supplemental canon material, I'm always excited to see books like this. They never cease to deliver a strong idea of how the geography of the films is supposed to canonically look and always provide interesting details on the side. The only downside of these, especially in recent years, has been the trickle of content added in relation to new Star Wars projects, meaning this is the third second re-release of the Complete Locations books, with some new content tied in. So if you're starting fresh, this is always a good insight. If you're like me, you can skim a lot of the content because a lot of it is reused material from previous versions of the book.
