Smita Das Jain is a writer by passion and writes every day. Samples of her writing are visible in her home office, her sunny terrace garden, her husband’s car, and the kitchen napkins. Her debut short story collection A Slice of Life was named among India’s top three fiction works by Writefluence, and her debut novel A Price to Love found a mention in the Top 50 books of 2022 by Delhi Wire. What comes to your mind when you read the title Till Fate Do Us Part? What's the first thought? My first thought was of how fate brings two individuals together. In this story Vedika comes across Dr Gaurang Doshi in an hospital while visiting the author for getting treatment for her Autistic child, Samiksha. The hero AND the villain of this book is Vedika. For various reasons as you start reading it. This book tells you a lot about how parents of special needs children take care of their children and how here the mother is somehow is subconsciously given the blame. Vedika and her husband Rohan coming from two different cultures,two different upbringings also bring to focus of how marriages are to be something that need to be taken seriously and it reminds you of how accomodating with the other person in a marriage, especially in an asian one gets taxing for the woman. Vedika was a character I wanted to know more about because she is written so beautifully and I really felt she could go to any lengths to be there for her daughter Samiksha. What role does Gaurang play in all of this? Well open the book because you are about to read the doctor's own story as well. The book also opens after the second wave of the pandemic ended and what was the impact on how people functioned in houses,at work place and how priorities changed.
Vedika is a through and through Feminist and you see it in her demeanour and the way she maintains her conduct in different spaces. The book is a realistic perspective and which brings me back to what the title makes you think of? Fate can be many things but it's upto us and only us if we accept the fate that's handed to us.

This book is to bring your attention to not only about two individuals and autism rep but much more to think about after you close the final chapter

‘Till Fate Do Us Part’ by Smita Das Jain is a story of Vedika and Doctor Gaurang. Samiksha, Vedika’s daughter is in pain and seeks medical advice from the best. She came across Doctor Gaurang who was the finest in the vicinity. His kindness and expertise impressed her and she decided to go ahead with the treatment. Meanwhile, Doctor Gaurang makes sure Vedika never faces any problems. Sparks fly every time Vedika visits him. Will he confess his love? What will happen next?

With a captivating storyline and crisp descriptive narrative, Smita weaves the story of love, struggles and sacrifice. Vedika faces many situations on the professional front and has a troubled married life, finds comfort every time she meets the doctor. Gaurang on the other hand is getting more attached to Vedika. With every chapter, the story gets more intense and exciting with how the events will unfold. The plot of the story is compelling, inviting readers to delve into the lives of corporate professionals and front-line workers.

As we get a glimpse of Vedika’s professional front, I liked the determined Vedika and her views but at times, her rigidness made me hate her a bit. Coming to Doctor Gaurang, his empathetic nature and his ways of approaching made me like his character more. We could see the struggles both of them have faced and the way their bond turned out to be. The characters are brilliantly portrayed by the author. We get a glimpse of typical Indian families too.

I loved the later chapters of the book and the story turned out to be amazing. It's a fast-paced book and I found it a bit rushed too with the events. What I liked is the way Smita kept it light and engaging, making readers curious. The climax of the book is cinematic, giving readers a Bollywood feel.

“Till Fate Do Us Part” by Smita Das Jain tells the story of Vedika, Dr. Gaurang, and Rohan. Vedika is a corporate professional married to Rohan, a management consultant. Their daughter, Samiksha, has Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and, after the pandemic, develops a condition called Genu Valgum. To help Samiksha, Vedika and Rohan visit Dr. Gaurang.

As they try to care for Samiksha, the three adults get caught up in emotional problems. The book is well-written, and the characters are very well developed.

Some parts of the book are a bit slow, but they don’t ruin the story. I thought the ending could have been better, but other readers might like it. Overall, it’s a good book and I would give it 4 out of 5 stars.

The pain of a child can bring any mother down to her knees. A little scratch is enough to make her wince in pain. But if the child is born a certain way, as a special needs child along with physical deformity, the mother suffers every second with no respite in sight. Her love turns even more fierce, and she wants to protect her child from any discomfort or disappointment. Vedika is one such mother, caring for her daughter Samiksha who is autistic and has knock knees so severe that even Dr Gaurang, a pediatrician orthopedic, was shocked to see the condition.

As Gaurang sees Vedika enter his chamber, half of her face covered behind a black mask, her persona seems to have a magnetic charm over him. The author has captured his emotions beautifully in these lines: 'Gaurang felt as if he was drowning inside those large black eyes. Those eyes held the weight of time—the patience, the worry, and the silent plea for her daughter's healing.'

The complexity of emotions displayed in this portion, where the couple has come to talk to a doctor are realistic as well as haunting. Right from Vedika discussing the difficulties in making her child sit still for six weeks after a knee correction surgery to her holding her baby for an X-ray are heart rending. Since the author herself cares for a special needs child, these emotions come from within but to experience something in real life and then reproducing it onto the paper are two different things and for that the author deserves applause.

As Vedika leaves, Gaurang experiences conflicting emotions. His mindset is shown in these lines: "How can someone’s gaze be so haunting? He asked himself. How could I be so captivated by a mere twenty-minute encounter with a woman without seeing her face? Was this what is called love at first sight? Hold on, am I thinking about love? With a married woman who was the mother of someone who was not technically his patient yet? He was undoubtedly going bonkers"

His immense attraction towards a married woman hints at a tabbo romance but the author clears that Vedika is in a problematic marriage. The author writes: "They say marriage isn’t a bed of roses. This adage manifested itself in Vedika’s life. The vibrant, fun-loving Rohan transformed into a serious and sombre figure post-marriage. Beneath the calm exterior, her husband’s silence, particularly in standing up for her in front of his parents, became a source of discontent. His lack of expressiveness in matters of love—no flowers, chocolates, birthday surprises or spontaneous gestures—left a void in the heart of a sentimental Vedika that echoed the fading romance in their relationship."

For not being a partner she desired and deserved, she separated from Rohan, only to learn that she was pregnant with Samiksha. They decided to make it work. But is Vedika's heart really in her marriage? What does she think about the empathetic doctor? Does she feel equally drawn to him? Is there a chance of something meaningful happening between them? Will Samiksha be better after her surgery? Or does fate have something else in store for these people? Well, you have to read the book to know more.

The author has handled the medical part of the story quite well. Her character's remarks at the commercialization of the medical field and a struggle to get doctor's appointment are rooted in real life. The medical portions of the book lend it an authenticity and gravitas that's the need of time.

Smita Das Jain also hits at patriarchy, her remarks a searing commentry over how world wants the women to behave. In a scene when Vedika remembers how a doctor had advised her, in an all-knowing manner, to quit her job and spend time with Samiksha at home, saying that the child needs to learn from her mother and not a nanny, author's mindset is clear in these lines:
"Vedika had refrained from bringing to his notice that her working from home during Covid had not helped matters. It was convenient for the doctors to hide their inability to help behind the shield of the parents’ incompetency—especially the mother’s."

Her life changes dramatically when her daughter is afflicted with a unique medical ailment, which brings her into contact with Dr. Gaurang, a pediatric orthopedic specialist. The novel delves Vedika's emotional issues, examining her changing relationships with her estranged husband Rohan and the sympathetic Dr. Gaurang.

Character Development and Emotional Complexity
Smita Jain's portrayal of Vedika is particularly emotional and subtle, depicting a lady negotiating life's hardships. Vedika's vulnerabilities and strengths are examined in depth as a corporate executive and mother of a special needs child. This reminds me of my cousin whose male child is now 31 years old and is an Autistic kid. I have personally seen my cousin's hard battles in life both mentally and socially. The initial chapters where Samiksha is examined by Dr. Gaurang and the scenes in the hospital visits made me revisit some forgotten memories. The whole sequence was so realistic. While reading words, my mind was picturing my cousin and her family. Likewise, the male protagonists, Gaurang and Rohan, are more than just supporting characters; they have unique personalities and conflicts that provide complexity to the story. Dr. Gaurang, with his sensitivity and devotion, is dragged into Vedika's world, where professional responsibility collides with newfound personal feelings. Despite his remoteness, Rohan plays an important part in the emotional landscape of the novel, providing a fair depiction of the problems inside a troubled marriage. The emotional baggage from a male's perspective is well written.

Writing style
Smita Das Jain's writing style is distinguished by emotional depth, complex character development, and an acute awareness of human interactions. Her writing is both entertaining and sensitive, conveying the nuances of love, resilience, and personal challenges. Smita Jain skillfully mixes rich emotional storylines with well-researched information, particularly when discussing difficult themes such as parenting a special needs kid and the responsibilities of professional life. Her tale is multilayered, combining genuine moments, human hardships, and smart societal critique. In this connection, the back story of Sachin and his relationship with Gaurang was heart-melting. There are few writers who bring the sensitive side of male characters and their male friends. I liked how Smita Jain enhanced the heartening lives of Sachin and Gaurang.

Few lines like :
' Vedika Rao is married!'. A voice in his head remarked. 'How does that matter?' He debated with his conscience. ' I am only concerned about Samiksha getting the right treatment.'

'How would you have handled it if the surgery was scheduled after our divorce came through?'

'Then protect her from yourself, Gaurang! In doing so, you will protect yourself too.'

“Till fate do us Part” by Smita Das Jain is an ordinary unheard story that throws light on trivial issues faced by a mother and her special needs child. Special needs children aren’t a part of literature and I was happy to read this in this book. Vedika is a contemporary woman who is well educated and is independent in her own accord. She loves her work and wants to climb the corporate ladder which made her grow apart from her spouse. Samiksha, her 6 year old daughter is the one who holds the family but Vedika and Rohan agree to divorce by mutual consent.

In comes Dr Gaurang, the peaditrician, who is the consultant surgeon for Sami for her condition called Genu Valgum or knocked knees. The date for the surgery is fixed after Sami’s birthday and the day before her birthday Vedika accidentally announces her impeding divorce to both sets of parents who are shocked beyond understanding. I loved the way Vedika kept her emotions in check and kept calm and didn’t break down in front of them. To the outside world, Vedika and Rohan are the ideal happy couple, both grads from IIM and those who complement each other. What everyone sees is thorough their own rosy lens, no one understands what one goes through.

Vedika finds a vast difference from the time they lived together to marriage and becoming a mother. While responsibilities were added to Vedika’s bucket, Rohan’s bucket remained relatively free. Being a career women, Vedika feels the pressure. When Vedika meets Dr Gaurang, Dr Gaurang feels there is a spark of attraction. He pursues it. Rohan goes off to the US for two months and Sami’s surgery happens at this time. Dr Gaurang is a supportive friend to Vedika during tough times. Vedika’s life breaks down. Her supportive boss pulls the rug under her and puts her career into a soup. Vedika has to decide between her self respect and values on one side, and keeping together her life on the other side. Will she choose her values or will she choose the smooth path.

‘Till fate do us part’ by Smita Das Jain is a sensitive portrayal of human relationships put on trial by life. The book is a fast-paced drama that unfolds in the twin settings of a hospital and the protagonist’s home. Both the settings bring the protagonist face to face with new challenges, simmering emotions and untold complexities.

Others have described this book as a fast read, but I took my time to read it. That was solely because I wanted to take the time to imbibe the pain and psychological trauma that form the locus of the book. That’s the central theme too–resilience and endurance amid pain, trauma and heartbreak but leading to renewed love, hope and perhaps also eventual happiness.

What I found noteworthy:-

1. Characterization - Smita has limited the story to a few characters and has refrained from unnecessary, frivolous additions. That keeps the reader invested in the characters. You go through their emotions exactly like they do and as and when they unfold in the book. The characters are complex and flawed, an astute representation of real-life people.
2. Settings - Smita keeps the settings real and that makes them relatable, right from the descriptions of the hospital, to the home and other areas. The first few pages of the book captivated me with their uncanny realism. The X-ray scene of Samiksha was another one that knifed through my heart.
3. Language, editing, cover design - the simple flow of language makes for an unhindered reading experience. The editor edited the book well, and the cover design offers a sneak peek into the storyline.
4. Topics touched upon - Via this book, Smita gives us a peek into a differently abled special needs child’s life. She paints a raw, stark picture, and that is jolting. She takes us through a gamut of emotions as she touches upon societal revulsion, familial expectations (esp with parents and in-laws), professional challenges, work-life balance, a mother’s guilt, relationship complexities, etc. For me, these were the true highlight of the book and the sole reason I took my time to imbibe Smita’s words at a slower pace.

Things that left me yearning for more:-

There were certain things that left me yearning for more depth. I realize that publishers nowadays want a book to be a certain length only, so a writer is hard-pressed to deliver within the word count. That could be a reason that Smita could not devote more words to write about Gaurang-Vedika. I wanted their emotional arc to have a tad bit more space, just a few pages more. Gaurang’s emotional arc was more rapid than I expected.

All in all, this is a beautifully complex book about human relationships under test. I recommend it.

This beautifully crafted story revolves around Vedika, a career-oriented woman, her daughter Samiksha, who suffers from autism, Dr. Gaurang, a highly successful pediatrician, and Rohan, Vedika’s husband.

Samiksha is non-verbal and unable to walk, so when Vedika learns about Dr. Gaurang’s reputation, she takes her daughter to him, hoping for a breakthrough. From the very first encounter, there’s an undeniable attraction between Vedika and Dr. Gaurang. His humble and kind demeanor draws her in, even as Vedika and Rohan continue to maintain yo pretend as a happily married couple despite their underlying issues.

As the story unfolds, several questions arise:
- Will Dr. Gaurang be able to help Samiksha?
- Will the bond between Dr. Gaurang and Vedika grow deeper?
- What will become of Vedika and Rohan’s marriage?

Love has no boundaries, no doubt about that, but sometimes it’s the circumstances and the happiness of others that restrict you to your boundaries.
The author has picked up a beautiful concept, though it’s a common one, but she has done justice to it.

The character of Vedika is beautifully portrayed and well-defined. She reflects a level-headed woman who shoulders her responsibilities very well as a mother, as a wife, and as a working woman.

It’s not only about Vedika; in fact, the character of Dr. Gaurang is also very adorable, and I literally fell in love with this character. The author has depicted the reality of family life and the bitter truth of a working woman’s life. That juggling between two responsibilities is a difficult task, but if you truly love and are eternally bonded, you give up your ego just to be with that person.

The simple language and clarity of thought have made the content short and sweet. The book is very well edited and is a quick read. The author has conveyed a very beautiful message through this book: that under duress, only you realize how strong your bond is.

The ending was perfect.

Today, I finished this heartfelt story, feeling both heartwarming joy and a lingering melancholy.


'Till Fate Do Us Apart' story began with Dr. Gaurang, a pediatric orthopedic, lost in his thoughts when he is visited by the parents of Samiksha, a non-verbal 5-year-old girl with ASD- A neurodevelopmental disorder ( Falls under Autistic Spectrum). From there, the story peaks up.


It revolves majorly around five characters. I like such plots where there are minimum characters involved.


From Jalpaiguri, West Bengal, Vedika, a small-town girl with big dreams, unexpectedly fell for Rohan from Maharastra at IIM-Bangalore. His humor, calm under pressure, and respect for women made him stand out, leading to their eventual marriage. But soon it all starts to change.


The complexity of marital troubles between Vedika and Rohan adds depth, with a surprising new character introducing an unexpected twist.


The storyline touches upon some really important topics like modern family dynamics, focusing on the challenges faced by parents of special needs children and the societal marginalization they encounter. Through fiction, it raises awareness about these issues, showcasing how empathetic and patient doctors can make this journey more hopeful. It also addresses the struggles faced by women with ambitious careers in high positions, particularly after marriage and childbirth, and the societal prejudices that exacerbate these challenges.


On another hand, we get to know Dr. Gaurang. His journey is marked by his inner turmoil and mistakes with Divya.

He is described as a beautiful person inside out! His emotional intelligence and the guidance of his confidante, Sachin helps him and Samiksha find best in life finally.


Samiksha’s journey alongside Vedika is inspired by real-life experiences of the author, that created a natural pull for me towards it.


Thus as this story provides insights into the world of autistic children but also the ending came out unexpectedly emphasizes the importance of having a strong family and the transformative power of having true guidance, friendship, true love, sacrifice and forgiveness, I believe most of you will find this story truly thoughtful. So, without any second thoughts, go for it.

Till Fate do us part, is a very beautiful, heart touching story written by Smita Das Jain. The story is set in Delhi, India just after the covid time. Dr Gaurang is a well-known Paediatric Orthopaedic surgeon who worked at Medicare Hospital. His life changes completely once Vedika enters his consultation room with her special needs daughter Samiksha. Vedika was a general manager at New Era company limited. The moment Dr Gaurang lays his eyes on the masked face of Vedika, he feels a strong connection like he has never felt before, but will the love and connection be reciprocated? Read this beautiful book to find it out.

On the first look it gives us the impression of a love story, but it is actually much more than that. Vedika’s life hardships and the complexities of her life is beautifully portrayed here. Vedika’s struggle between managing, her family life, her daughter and her job are the core of this book. Vedika’s daughter Samiksha is having Autism Spectrum Disorder and is nonverbal. Vedika and her husband Rohan are also going through a rough patch in their marriage. I love how realistic and relatable this book was. Even though Samiksha is Vedika and Rohan’s daughter, everybody expects Vedika to drop her really good job and look after their daughter. When Vedika asks her husband if he will be willing to do the same, she is being called a bad mother and ungrateful wife. This shows how close minded the society is, expecting the women to do just the household chores rather than being independent and powerful.

I was unaware of what Autism Spectrum Disorder is and this book actually helped me know more about it, and I also researched about it. Being a parent of a special needs child is very hard, it requires a lot of patience but Vedika manages it so beautifully. She is an amazing mother who always prioritises her daughter.

Smita Jain’s narration of the story was very beautiful, simple and quite emotional. This is a quick read and I would definitely suggest this book to my fellow reader friends.

'Till Fate Do Us Part' by Smita Das Jain is the story of Vedika whose daughter, Samiksha, is in pain and needs medical help. She finds Dr. Gaurang, the best doctor around. Impressed by his kindness and skill, she chooses him for her daughter’s treatment and surgery. As Vedika continues to visit Dr. Gaurang, he seems to start falling for her. But will he confess his love? His friend thinks 'note' but Gaurang feels that it was love in the first meeting, and despite her 'married ' status he continues to lean towards her.

This is a captivating story of love, struggle, and sacrifice. Especially on Vedika's part. The one scene where she is patiently assisting an X-ray done for her daughter really tugged at my heart. Apart from her personal struggles and emotions, Vedika also deals with challenges at work and a troubled marriage. She finds comfort in Dr. Gaurang, who becomes more attached to her with each visit. The story becomes more intense with each chapter. There is a segment where lives of corporate professionals is detailed out as Vedika finds herself in the midst of her professional challenges. These seem to multiply her tribulations further.

Even though Vedika has been portrayed as a determined and strong-willed, person, I could not sympathise with her due to her stubbornness. Dr. Gaurang’s empathy and approach made him a likable character but his reasons for falling in love with Vedika did not seem compelling. We see the struggles they both face and how their friendship develops but the electricity of the platonic bond was missing. Rohan was a character I would've liked to know more of. Even though he is the husband and eventually Vedika makes peace with him, his character did not lift up from a secondary character in the background.

Nonetheless, the story was fast-paced, and therefore, it was a quick read. The narrative was light and the language was engaging. By the end, it all falls into place and gives us a predictable outcome making it a go-to book for anyone who enjoys light reads.

Unexpected entry of a character whom she least expects at this time occurs. What has the fate kept in store for Vedika and Gaurang?

💙 First of all, to understand the turmoil of emotions and complex decisions involved, i believe the story would be much glamceable to people above 25. Being a women with a career, questionable marraige life and a daughter who is not going through challenging times sounds really emotional for Vedika. Society fails to understand what a working women go through. It was mesmerizing to feel the emotions and being able to relate to it. A blend of characters and their emotional thoughts are so authentic. Author's narrative style is blending well with the readers where we connect with feelings and emotions of the protogonists.

💙 Dr. Gaurang's role is framed in an attractive way, where we goes beyond his power to help Samiksha. Some marriages look perfect, they might make people jealous, but successful marriage is the one where the time passes the duties are shared equally by the partners. When one of the partner is free to do as per their wish, the other suffers more than one could handle and becomes vulnerable. When you hear succesfull love stories and happy endings, this book reflects societal pressure, realistic martiage life, children with special needs, good hearted medical professionals and much more! The author has a quintessential style of bringing the emotions of the characters with seamless shades that unknowingly emanate to the reader. The book offers a profound exploration of human emotions. The emotions are woven into the lives of its characters in a way that resonates deeply with readers. The author paints a vivid picture of the emotional turmoil of the characters, allowing the reader to feel the characters’ joys, sorrows, and struggles as if they were their own, in this medical romance. This seamless blending of emotions into the narrative is one of the book’s greatest strengths.

The Plot
The story begins with a consultation, where Vedika and her husband Rohan meet Dr. Gaurang. Right from the outset, the author captures the pain and guilt that Vedika and Rohan feel as parents. They feel they are unable to fully care for their daughter, who is on the Autistic Spectrum. The anguish of discovering their daughter’s locked knees too late is depicted with such conviction that it pulls at the reader’s heartstrings. This raw portrayal of parental guilt and sets a painful tone for the characters. Further, as the plot develops, we see how the emotions diverge with situations. As Gaurang develops feelings for Vedika and she, despite having feelings, decides to concentrate on her daughter, the readers see a responsible mother and sorted woman. But due to her situation, when she loses the plot we can see a raw human in flesh and blood. As the medical romance expands, the emotions and circumstances become more complex and poignant.

Characters
The author explores Gaurang’s internal conflict as he grapples with his growing feelings for Vedika while he is torn between his professional duties and matters of the heart. This emotional tug-of-war is depicted with subtlety, adding complexity to the narrative. The characters are carefully crafted making them relatable and multidimensional. The book explores multiple themes around the human psyche. Smita explores various aspects such as maintaining a work-life balance, maintain relationships with our families and the idea of how love functions as a primary emotion. Through the idea of a special needs child with a rare medical condition, Smita highlights the challenges of caring for her, along with balancing a full-time corporate career. Through Gaurang’s character, Smita brings to light the challenges that our front-line workers face, and how sometimes they have to choose between the professional and personal. The storytelling in the book is engaging and there are moments where you feel deeply connected with the characters. The book is quite well researched and I liked that the author has taken her time to focus on the medical procedures and the background to craft a believable story, especially the climax that starts building in a couple of chapters before. Another aspect of the story that I liked was the grey area in which Devika and Gaurang operate where they briefly explore a “what-if” scenario. While the story has its ups, there are a few things that I thought could be improved. I felt that the story of Gaurang and Divya could have explored a bit more to develop his character arc. Another aspect of the book that could have been improved was the focus on the relationships between the characters, rather than the spotlight being on Devika and Gaurang.

Coming to the characters, I liked the way Smita sketched the character of Devika. A career-driven woman, juggling work and personal life, I liked that while a headstrong woman, she has her faults and Smita has brought them to light nicely. The way her character arc develops across the story was quite wonderful to read. Gaurang’s character also impresses with his empathy and the way he handles Samiksha’s case and the bedside manners he exhibits.

💙 The way the author has meticulously and passionately constructed this story had me engrossed and filled with complete amazement. Astonishing unforeseen events are encountered throughout the narrative, yet the conclusion is no exception. The protagonists are vividly described, giving the book vitality and an indelible impression that persists regardless of how we flick each page. Dr. Gaurang is the one where the tale starts and even where it finishes. Both the writing and the character development in this novel are excellent. The story progressed swiftly, so it turned out to be an overall quick paced read. The plot was straightforward, along with the vocabulary seeming more engaging. Recommending it to everyone who loves light reading.

When I first read the title *Till Fate Do Us Part*, I immediately thought of how fate intertwines the lives of two people. In this story, Vedika meets Dr. Gaurang Doshi while seeking treatment for her autistic daughter, Samiksha. Vedika is both the protagonist and antagonist, and as the narrative unfolds, it subtly critiques how society often places blame on mothers of special needs children.

The book delves into the challenges of parenting, especially for mothers like Vedika, and explores how marriages—particularly in Asian cultures—demand compromise, often disproportionately affecting women. Vedika's dynamic with her husband Rohan, shaped by their contrasting backgrounds, highlights the complexities of such relationships.

Vedika, a staunch feminist, is portrayed as a strong, nuanced character willing to do anything for her daughter. Dr. Gaurang’s role in this, though essential, is best discovered in the book itself. Set after the second wave of the pandemic, the story also reflects on how life priorities shifted in that period.

The story revolves around Vedika who is dealing with her daughter’s ailment which leads to her meeting Dr. Gaurang, a paediatric orthopaedic specialist. Dr. Gaurang finds himself drawn to Vedika. As a career-driven professional, Vedika is not only dealing with stressful parenthood but also a broken marriage. As the relationship between Vedika and Gaurang begins to complicate, Vedika’s estranged husband, Rohan, makes a re-entry in her life, further complicating matters. What does the future hold for Vedika and Gaurang?

The story is a well written drama, exploring the struggles and sacrifices of every relationship. The story explores the bond between Vedika and Gaurang as it slowly blossoms. Their relationship becomes more and more complex as the story unveils several twists and turns along the way. Beyond relationships, the story also explores the societal attitude towards women, especially in a relationship.

The writing is excellent and the characters are life-like characters. In fact the genuine characters add layers to the narration, making the story feel realistic. Each character, be it Gaurang, Vedika or Rohan, each with their own strengths and weaknesses and driven by her own motivations and the story captures their journey through the course of the book, The many twists and turns in the story and emotional connection between the characters makes it an engrossing read.

Overall, 'Till Fate Do Us Part' is a captivating read with a strong plot and well written characters.

In this impressive book "Till Fate Do Us Part" by Smita Das Jain, though their paths are irrevocably intertwined, this serendipity is not easy to attain. Two desperate souls find their redemption and the answers they seek as Smita Das Jain extends the boundaries of their story.

It is evident right from their first interaction that there is a flame that even to this day burns between Gaurang and Vedika. The connection already present between them is strong yet it is evident that there are complications in both their current circumstances. Gaurang is a soldier who’s married to his profession and complete devotion is required of seeking a relationship to this man, which shifts his paradigms of obligation and morality. The emergence of Vedika’s estranged spouse Rohan brings about a new twist to the tale, challenging the protagonists in ways that no one saw coming. Her life has been filled with difficult decisions, and now perhaps she has to face the most difficult decision of all: to embrace her heart or to stick to what has been already written.

Jain presents work life collision and how Mahatrans from the sentiments of love can turn into duty sacrifice, which is interesting. The story is very emotional and broaches several sensitive topics such as love, obligation, and morality. The situations are realistic, and the characters’ reactions are believable and consistent with the personas and history given to them. This sense of realism, however, increases the emotional stakes as it becomes easier for the reader to put himself in the shoes of these people.

The books which convey a strong message and question stereotypes are one of my favourites. This is because the current situation urges this, the societal structure needs these questions and the power of words to deeply realise what is wrong. And what needs a greater change in this contemporary society especially in India. The portrayal of how fixed mindset and cultural conditioning are a deep scar in the name of belief and traditions is done here.

The plot has the protagonist Vedika, a married woman and a mother of a special needs child, who is juggling her responsibilities and the weight of her ambitions. And then she meets a charming, mature and pragmatic doctor, Mr. Gaurang, who changes the course of things. The expectations of others, and the desires of the heart, a battle ensues between the head and the heart. What or who would win? You have to read this to know that.

The book beautifully entangles certain aspects like the conscience defined by society, the struggles and challenges of a woman managing work and personal life and trying to balance them both, the ego wars in couples dealing with stringent lifestyles, the dilemmas faced by a mother catering to the needs of a child who is autistic, and then the matters of the heart. Choosing what is ‘right’ from ‘wrong’.

The writing style of the author is impeccable capturing the reader's attention throughout. This is written in rich language and the character development is smooth. She has done a commendable work. I loved the read overall, as I could relate very well to vivid facets of my own life.

Here's a thing: the person you marry may not be your soulmate. Maybe you bump into your soulmate one evening and immediately feel the bond. Dr Gaurang worked as a paediatric orthopaedic surgeon in one of the most prestigious Gurugram's hospitals. 🏥
The parents, Roshan and Vedika were facing problems in their personal life but got together for their child, have taken their five year, old Samiksha to Dr Gaurang for the problems she face such as ASD and knocked knees. They had visited many doctors in the past six months but nothing seemed to work. Because Dr. Gaurang had good reviews, hoped for the better results this time. 👨‍⚕
What will be the outcomes of this meeting? Will Dr. Gaurang be able to treat the child? Or will there be anything else involved with all this?

The negative impacts that came along with covid such as online education and restrictions for children to go outside and play which impacted their development, also the difficulty faced by working professionals were discussed here which were saddening to read. 😔

The good side like mother's instinct and the love and care they have for their child even though they might not be aware about the same was also discussed with bought happy tears 🥺💗
Basically, the book was a roller coaster of emotions and because I lack emotional intelligence, I was able to relate and feel each one:)
