John A. Russo, sometimes credited as Jack Russo or John Russo, is an American screenwriter and film director most commonly associated with the 1968 horror classic film Night of the Living Dead. As a screenwriter, his credits include Night of the Living Dead, The Majorettes, Midnight, and Santa Claws. The latter two, he also directed. He has performed small roles as an actor, most notably the first ghoul who is stabbed in the head in Night of the Living Dead.

Jack Boston’s stand-up career is dwindling quickly, so quickly he begins losing his grip on reality. A bad review in the local paper sends him over the edge and starts a killing spree that ends with Jack back on stage performing to an audience of corpses.

This tight little slasher story from John Russo is enjoyable the same way cheap slasher flicks are enjoyable. At one point, Jack crashes a “Scream Queen Hot Tub Party” type film shoot and cracks up quite the body count.

It would make a fun slasher flick.
