I love casseroles. Who doesn’t? Casseroles can feed the whole family in a minimal amount of time and preparation. I remember how my Mom used to make a casserole to take to the Sunday pot luck dinner, every week, and how we took home other people’s casseroles to feed us the rest of the week. I find these recipes taste much better than most of our pot luck dinners and they all have only five ingredients each, making preparation and clean-up so easy.

Each recipe comes with a beautiful full-color picture, so you know how it is supposed to turn out, which I find very helpful. While some of the recipes contain that 'good old can of cream of mushroom soup', I have always enjoyed the flavor of mushrooms and cream which binds the whole casserole together.

The recipes are divided into Breakfast, Side Dish, Meaty, Seafood and Vegetable with the ingredients listed in their names making it easy to find what you want. I really enjoy everything about this book and plan to use it quite a bit. Even if you are not a terrific cook, this book makes everything so easy and the recipes really do look like the pictures!

Vintage 5-Ingredient Casserole Forgotten Recipes: A Retro Cookbook That Will Provide a Comprehensive Selection of Easy and Delicious Breakfast and Dinner Casseroles From Bygone Times is part of the Vintage and Retro Cookbooks series by Kevin Palmer McDermott.

There are recipes for Breakfast Casseroles (9), Side Dish Casseroles (11), Meaty Casseroles (15), Seafood Casseroles (13), and Vegetable Casseroles (14). I’m not sure that I would call a Pepperoni and Mozzarella casserole a breakfast casserole but it sounds good!. These recipes look so delicious! I want to try the Tomato Basil and the Cheesy Crab Dip casseroles. There is a mixture of old favorites I had forgotten about and new ones to try.

The author has given us an interesting selection of recipes with this collection. The recipes sound great but I really can't get past that there are only five ingredients involved, it seems like something is missing.

There’s a lot of great recipes I can’t wait to try that is low carb for most of it. But it also seems to repeat some recipes but with adding or taking away one thing out of the recipe. Also all the recipes included shredded cheese. I wish they would have changed that up to something else.
