First Tatum, I must say you wrote the hell outta this ma'am! I was so looking forward to Bishop's story, as he was such an anomaly, that I couldn't really get a read on him from the previous two reads.
Mr. Bishop Reign, hot shot defense attorney with a perfect record. Workaholic, educated, disciplined, and everything in his life worked in facts and figures, the perfect contract. His brothers looked up to him and relied on his maturity and sound advice. All was going well in Bishop's life, until he received a proposition.
Lourdess Black, the pampered princess, of crime boss Monroe Black. Never wanted for a thing in her life, however, being sheltered left her vulnerable in areas of her life where she should have known better. She was intelligent, and a great attorney. She was also a bit flighty, quirky, and overthinks everything. She loved her father, but didn't like him much, as he dictated everything in her life. She wanted to have a bit of freedom, and live life on her own terms, without his interference. Well, she did branch out and do her, but that decision put her into a dilemma.
Lourdess is floored when her father proposes that she marry a stranger. Not only that but to the thugged out attorney, that never loses? This can't be my life. 😤 Knowing she doesn't have a choice in the matter, she gives Bishop hell right from the get-go. If I have to do this, I won't make it easy for him. Bishop takes it all in stride, as he understands her feelings about all this. But make no mistake, she will be his wife.
After a lot of back and forth, arguing, and ignoring calls, Lourdess finally agrees to give Bishop the opportunity for him to get to know her, and vice versa. When he does begin to peel back the layers of who he is outside of the courtroom, she is immediately enamored with this man. He is nothing like she assumed. He is kind, sweet, and really seems to want to make me happy. She feels a deep level of comfort around him. I enjoyed seeing their relationship blossom, before the engagement party.
Now this is the portion where I put on my thinking cap, and wondered who put out the hit? I held my breath as I feared Bishop finding out the truth about Royelle, and wondered how he would react. I loved how Psalm and Bishop worked together, finding every lead and worked tirelessly until they found their answers. When it was revealed who was responsible, I was a bit shocked. However, I shouldn't have been, when you really think about it. But the revelations kept coming, and my head was spinning! Whew! 🤯 I was happy for Syre and Royelle, cause holding onto information like that, had to be heavy as hell! I know this is supposed to be the end of the series, but we gotta know more about Psalm! Please? 🙏🏾 Enjoyed this very much. 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
The first 20 chapters were an amazing love story about how an arranged marriage became a real marriage. The last 5+ chapters felt rushed and didn't blend well with the story. I'm happy we found out who planned the "plot twist" from the first two books, but it wasn't blended into this story well.
This series is so good. I enjoyed Lourdes and Bishop story because we got to read how they met. What was supposed to be a business deal turned into so much more for them. Bishop was not giving up on getting Lourdes, whom he clearly had feelings for. At times, Lourdes got on my nerves, but I was glad she finally decided to do things her way and not what her dad wanted. This story definitely clears up the mystery that was on everyone's mind in book 1 and 2, secret revelations, and the deceivers getting what they deserved. The author did a great job putting this series together. I highly recommend reading. You will not be disappointed.
Ms. James did it again!! This book was the perfect start to the series and I swear Lourdess had me face palming everytime she missed the hints Bishop dropped about his feelings for her!! I loved the glimpses into the reign brothers lives and that their stories run parallel to this book making sure you have to read the others to get the full plot.
I really enjoyed this book from beginning to end and getting to see how Lourdess and Bishop connected. In the previous books, Bishop admitted to having real feelings for her, but all we knew was that their relationship and marriage would be arranged without any other details. I loved how this book answered those questions and provided a background on these two.
There were times when Lourdess was on my nerves because she was acting very spoiled and close minded. She was fighting a losing battle with herself trying to make Bishop out to be a bad guy because he didn’t initially subscribe to her hearts and flowers, love and Prince Charming ideology but after time spent together, he showed her so much love and patience and held up his end of their deal through it all. I liked that Lourdess finally came around and stopped fighting and accepted the love that she developed for Bishop and the love that he developed for her and showed her his love at every turn by listening, hearing and seeing her and granting her hearts desires, even if they may not have come in the way she wanted them to.
I also liked that this book answered all the previous questions surrounding who wanted Bishop and Delilah dead. The ending was a bit rushed, in my opinion, but it provided answers to the questions left from book one and two in a nice little bow. I would definitely recommend this series if you like a little mystery with your urban love stories.
Well written and entertaining, I could not put Promised to a Street King down. I absolutely loved Bishop and after reading Secure In the Arms of a Thug, books 1 and 2 of the Dark Reign Dynasty series, I definitely wanted to know more about Bishop. The story is so engaging with lots of twists and turns. I appreciated that the book really focused on Bishop's story, which I think is oftentimes lacking in romance novels - even the ones named after the MMCs in the books. Lol.
If you like urban romance books with entertaining characters, you can't go wrong with Promised to a Street King by Tatum James.
Bishop was a big time defense attorney and the next in line to take over the Reign Dynasty! Lourdess was a prosecutor for the local DA office looking for love in all the wrong places! When she is part of the deal to merge families between his Aunt and her father she is hurt and pissed off! Will she give in and trust Bishop fully or let this be just a paper arrangement between two people who are attracted to each other? Lourdess has to make up her mind to be all in or out? A great read!
Wow, all this time, he was a snake. Auntie knew he could not be trusted, that's why she wanted Bishop to take over. I just knew that it was Monroe who did it. Jokes on me. I just love how all the pieces fell in place. The snake sure knew how to cover his tracks and make it look like he did not do it. That just goes to show you that the blood they have was the truth. Oh Palms, really needs a story to see if he found love. Please keep the party going.
I’m so glad all the questions were answered because my anxiety was on 10 about them finding out that Royelle was on the team that tried to kill them. Deacon is a pussy and I’m not too sold on Monroe’s ass either.
With everything being laid out, I’m wondering what Psalm’s book is going to have in it.

Oh, how I loved this book. I was so glad to see it was a little longer than the two prior because I knew it was going to be a hell of a ride!! Ms. Tatum did not disappoint!! The way the ends were sealed, I was literally screaming when Bishop figured it all out!!! Man, great job, beautiful story!! I loved Bishop and Lourdess for each other.. It gives all the feels. LOVED IT!!!

I loved Bishop & Lourdess! They both got on my nerves but I kept rooting for them. That Monroe Black is something else. I will say half way through I had an idea of who done the shooting but the other revelation was shocking! I’m glad we got the viewpoint of Bishop & Psalm during this journey because now it filled in all emotions for EVERYONE! I will happily wait on Divine & Psalm cause these 3 books had me clenching my invisible pearls lol!
This book was the perfect ending to this series. I did not see the ending coming at all. Lordess was determined to hate Bishop. Bishop was determined to change her mind. Even though Bishop was all about business I'm so happy he allowed himself to feel and fall in love with Lordess. I don't want to give to much away but this is definitely a page turner.
I loved all these brothers but Bishop may have been my favorite. The way he protected and loved on his future wife was so sweet but don’t get on his bad side! He was not to be played with. Great storyline and I guessed the ending!
Great book! This was a great ending to an established series. Yes, you can read it as a standalone, but it's better with the other two books. Y'all just read the damn book.
I didn't see any of this coming. Wow!! Totally shocked but so happy to make it to the end. Dang it!! Lourdess put me through it. So annoying, but I understood why she was though. Happy it all worked out in the end.
Mrs James... Mrs James... You DID IT yet again 🔥 As I begin to read Bishop and Lourdess's story, I wasn't really interested in them two because I was so in Love with Syre & Royelle!!!! But, OH MY GAWD!!! I think I loved their story just a teency bit more than Sy and Elle. Nonetheless, both are FIRE 🔥
I loved Bish and Dess’s love story. The fact that Deacon was the real villain instead of Elle had me flabbergasted. Glad he was convicted of Laykin and Delilah’s death because he thought he was so playa and he was going to get away with it and he didn’t.
This was a great read, however I can't even lie. That Lourdess got on my NERVES something serious. I was almost ready to stop reading the book as much as she wined and was just ridiculous. I don't think I've ever been as annoyed with the FMC as I was with her.
This Book here was amazing I loved it a bedtime seller just like all your other books. You are one of my favorite authors this a book I will read more than once
Lourdess and Bishop were entertaining to watch go back and forth as they approached the arranged marriage, I love how this tied up all loose ends from, the last book too!
I love Bishop and Lourdess's story. Everything was answered, and it was surprising. I couldn't help but laugh out loud at certain parts of this book. I'm so happy for both of them. Wonderful read. If you haven't read this series, you really should get into it. It was a joy to read this series 🥰.
When I saw Tatum James had me feel all kinds of emotions. I liked Bishop because he never tried to be anyone but who he was. So I didn’t want Lourdess falling for this arrangement just because he was handsome. Rich never moved her. But when real love hit both of them, it was a wrap. Monogamy was new to Bishop but you couldn’t tell. He did everything to show Lourdess he was in this 100%. There were a few hiccups that were easily worked out. Getting to the bottom of who was after him was his mission and Lourdess, unintentionally came 2nd some days. But the three brothers got to the bottom of it all allowing them to have peace and happiness. I wondered why it was just Psalm and Maven with books. Here I come Psalm. Great Read!!!
Auntie knows! The plot just kept getting thicker! I hate when the fmc is annoying & Lourdes annoying. She was purposely obtuse in situations that didn’t benefit her. I almost Dnfd but I really wanted to know what happened or if they were going to find out.
All Lourdess wanted was love. Her father was so strict that she went out and found Carlos, and that was the biggest mistake that she made, but then it landed her with her enemy/king Mr. Bishop. Love/hate story that I thoroughly enjoyed. Awesome read
