The war is over and Will Kaufman is finally back home. He brings with him the technological and medical wonders of the galaxy.
But when an alien corporate syndicate decides to set up operations on Mars, Earth begins to wonder if the gifts they've been brought are worth the cost of potential subjugation.
Earth was spared a war against the Imperium… but it just might find itself at the center of a new conflict unless humanity's only Void Drifter can stop it.
A marathon read. 2 am and finished. Not sure how to describe this adventures as Earth finds itself in the middle of a galactic war. Betrayal and false promises, aliens colonising Mars, and just a small group of aliens with one archaeologist to fix things, and then, ........ well read it. You won't be disappointed if you are a sci-fi fan.
A Sol system-focused problem that can be the means to bigger things...
Eddison has vanished, war with the Imperium is over and Earth's place in the new order is being discussed when both anti-alien factions on Earth and an invasion of Mars by a scavenger race shakes things up. Earth's entry into the new order is dependent on Earth showing a united front which seems unlikely... Will strives to ensure that Earth is able to 'take a seat at the table' of the new order while dealing with both the Martian invaders and the anti-alien faction. In the background is Eddison and void drifting as the new situations take the fore. While not the full on battles seen in some of the prior novels, there is still plenty of intrigue, suspense, fighting, missions, romance and 'playful ribbing' by the crew of the Paulson as they attempt to smooth things over. An enjoyable read.
Really enjoying this series, I can't wait to find out what happens next. Will Sert, establish dominance or is Nord going to be in charge of the Vorvak Horde.
A great progression in the void drifter series. The characters continue to develop and the plot line does not weaken. At the conclusion of this book The stage is set for more excitement. This series continues to satisfy. I look forward to the next book.
Thr intro was a bot too long, but it picked up quite nicely after that. Interesting romance, but can not really imagine them getting along well without a war to keep them busy.
Will keeps reinventing himself to continue protecting his root world- Earth. Action, adventure, machiavellian intrigue, all that and character growth too. Necessity does that to you.
The guy turned into an AI is just annoying with his constant, and not so witty, insults and in this book Will & Co are just stupidly running headfirst into every trap they can find.
I’ll give this series one more chance. If it does not improve I am done.
