I'm the last of my kind–the last living female vampire. The only one left to save my race from extinction. No pressure, right?
For three decades, I’ve been on the run, living as a human librarian and hiding from the shifters who slaughtered my family when I was a kid. But now they’ve found me, and the only way to protect myself–and my son–is to claim my throne and unlock my magic, gifted to my ancestors by the moon goddess Selene. And to do that, I need to bind myself to seven consorts. Seven insanely hot, powerful, and irresistible immortal men.
There’s Gavin, the bossy undead vampire who awakens desires I thought long dormant.
Bastian, the tattooed shifter who betrayed his own kind to protect me.
Ash, the huge, brooding warrior who sees the strength in me I'd forgotten.
And Javier, my childhood guardian who's always been more than just a protector.
But it's not all steamy nights and second chances. Enemies lurk in every shadow, threatening everything I hold dear. The ancient war between vampires and shifters could destroy us all, and the shifter king will stop at nothing to capture me.
I'm done running. Done hiding. I'll fight like hell to protect my newfound family–both my son and my consorts. I'm not just a librarian anymore. I'm not just a mom. I’m the last gods-damned vampire queen.
Lindsey is a bestselling Science Fiction and Fantasy author who lives her life with one foot in a book—so long as that book transports her to a magical world or bends the rules of science. Her novels, from Science Fiction Adventure to Time Travel Romance, always offer a hearty dose of unreality, along with plenty of history, mystery, adventure, and romance.
When she's not working on her next novel, Lindsey spends her time hanging out with her two little boys, working in her garden, or playing board games with her husband. She lives in the Pacific Northwest with her family and their small pack of cats and dogs.
I straight up have no idea what was happening and I wasn't particularly invested in the storyline, but I do know that there was so much sex. It reached a point where I was seriously terrified for the FMC’s wellbeing. Girl, you cannot be going to town with several men who are so well-endowed their appendages border on a disability, at all hours of the day. I am SORE for you. Please give your poor self a break and get a hobby! Perhaps crochet? Chess? Preferably something that involves keeping your clothes on, for your vagina’s sake. 😭
As for the lack of plot — the plot was pretty much just the smut. In all fairness, there was some type of plot, but it felt messy and underdeveloped. I feel like the author prioritised focusing on the abundance of sex scenes as opposed to the story as a whole.
It was refreshing to read a fantasy romance with a FMC who's in her 30s. But I couldn't form much of an opinion of any of the characters, as the majority of their personalities and interactions were pretty surface-level outside of banging each other.
I think some authors need to understand that there is such a thing as too many steamy scenes. If the explicit content is overshadowing the story and causing a detriment to the plot, it's likely too much. The majority of this book did focus on the “why choose” dynamic, which made it feel more like an erotica as opposed to a romantasy. In my opinion, this could've worked better as a novella instead of a series.
I loved the narration. M.K Blackwood’s expressions, enthusiasm, and tone were the highlight of this listening experience. I also liked how the voices she used when narrating the MMCs’ lines weren't cringey or over-the-top which I often find in audiobooks. To be honest, the narration was a lot better than the story, and if this hadn't been an audiobook, I likely would've dnf’d. Blackwood’s narration played a huge part in keeping me engaged, but I will not be continuing this series.
Thank you to NetGalley, Lindsey Sparks, and Tantor Media for gifting this audiobook in exchange for an honest and unbiased review. All opinions are my own.
Well crap. Why ya gotta do me like this Lindsey? This book isn't even out yet and I am angrily waiting for book 2. This was spicy, great start to the world building and enough intrigue to have me geeked for the next book. I am stoked to get more time with some of these fellers! Much love to Lindsey Sparks for my ARC, can't wait for the next book!
1⭐️ Maybe because I didn’t read the description before I chose to read this but listen I’m all for spicy but when it’s all just spice and minimal plot it’s hard for me. Very steamy but there was so many unnecessary shmex scenes I didn’t feel it flowed and just wasn’t for me. For the time the plot actually came into the story line made it okay. Also I just don’t vibe with how the writer writes, idk how to explain it, the concept was cool but it just wasn’t executed how I would’ve liked it I guess.
mostly smut but the plot wasn’t terrible! i was frustrated for the first 50% book because like a lot of fantasy series, you’re just thrown in and slowly get pieces of how the magic system works, who the main character is and how they got to where they are now. it just felt like it took forever to get enough pieces for what was happening in the book to make sense, i wish we had more of the fmcs background before some of the crazy changes happened.
the harems involvement in the magic system was wild 😂 sex every few hours to sustain powers seemed silly - especially when she doesn’t get to know any of the men very well beforehand. i’m curious to see how this pans out so i’ll probably read the next book eventually.
the narrator did a good job! thank you netgalley for the audio arc.
Big thanks to RBmedia and NetGalley for a copy of Heir of Blood and Moonlight for review purposes.
I had a hard time forming a connection with all these characters. In my opinion the FMC didn't form much of a connection either, outside of a sexual one. I knew she would have multiple partners which I'm totally okay with but, this was lacking in the plot department and the emotional connections just weren't there. The narration was done really well! If you're looking for 85% smut this is for you! The spice was well written, the plot just fell to the back burner in my opinion.
HEIR OF BLOOD AND MOONLIGHT was a fantastic first installment in a new why-choose/reverse harem vampire romance series. The action starts off pretty immediately as were dropped off in this contemporary world as we meet Sophie, a living vampire, librarian on the run, the last of her kind. She finds herself in a situation of sorts where she has to bind herself to seven men to save both herself and her people. There’s danger at every turn and her quest to save everything isn’t an easy one, so it’s a tense adventure from start to finish.
With 7 consorts, expect things to get 🌶️spicy🌶️, which they certainly did. This book isn’t all steam and romance though. There are plenty of serious moments and themes, particularly concerning trauma and how that affects a person on many levels. Sophie carries around a lot of emotional trauma from past events and it was interesting to see how that affects her daily life. Also, she’s a mother who would move heaven and earth to save her son, so that plays a big role in the story as well.
With plenty of danger, twists and turns aplenty, and so much more, this was an exciting ride from start to finish. I can’t wait to see what future books hold for our queen and her consorts. 5 stars. Definitely pick this up if you enjoy:

◦ I've received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review ◦ ⮞ 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬 ⮜ Sophie - I liked her as a character and her struggles to remain in hiding. Also the details about her vampiric self and how they need nourishment were really interesting. I liked the fact we also got to know her as a persona, her past, present and the in between. A part of the consorts - Well they are all morally grey to a certain point. They are very easily identifiable and you don't confuse the two, and interestingly enough they are all sooooooo different.
⮞ 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝-𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 ⮜ The majority of the story happens in our world, but there is like another world behind a veil that was interesting to explore and hopefully in the next book we get more info on that.
⮞ 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐈 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞𝐝/𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞𝐝 ⮜ I liked a lot that the story was fast-paced and there was no dull moment in it. You'll be giggling, and hold on for dear life on the adventure they're going. The characters are all very unique and is so easy to know who is talking now. One thing that I didn't liked was that . Other than that the story was quite interesting, and if you're looking for vampires, shifters, smuttttttt and lots of ups and downs and twisted world then you'll enjoy this :D. And yes I am very much interested in reading the next story because I bet is gonna be even more wow.
⮞ 𝐒𝐩𝐢𝐜𝐞/TW ⮜ The story is spicy alright. I'd say is 5 out of 5 on this one, because you've got threesomes, orgies and banging almost every other page and the book doesn't shy away from the details. There is also kidnapping, abuse/fighting towards some characters, however, nothing that happened in the book triggered me, but as usual make sure to read the trigger warnings.
The story starts off quite slow due to world building, but gradually develops into a very interesting and captivating narrative. Our main female character, Sophie, embarks on a profound journey of self-discovery, where she finds her true self, rediscovers her past, and uncovers what she is destined to become. Sophie has a long and dark past, a complex history that the book meticulously picks apart, revealing layer by layer. It is also important to say that this is the first story in an upcoming series of books by Lindsey Sparks.
This book has a multitude of spicy scenes, many of which left me gripping the page with enthusiasm and excitement. The story primarily centres around the "why choose" trope, a concept that was new to me. This is my first book featuring this particular trope, and honestly, I found it to be very enjoyable and captivating. It seems our FMC (female main character) and her various consorts enjoyed it as well. Each consort is distinctly different, each bringing their own unique personality and style to the story, adding depth and variety to the narrative.
This book isn't your typical vampire novel; it's a captivating story filled with intricate plot twists and engaging characters. If you are a fan of vampires, shifters, and mythical tales that transport you to right into the centre of a fantastic plot, you will no doubt love this book. The narrative is rich and engrossing, making it hard to put down. I am excited to see what comes next…
Extremely overhypedddd, there is such a thing as too much smut, the amount of times she had sex in a span of two days, that shit ain’t right. If you want 90% sex and 10% plot enjoy.
The romance is passionate and emotional, with each of the immortal consorts bringing a different dynamic to the story. The relationships develop through loyalty, attraction, and shared battles, creating plenty of tension and memorable moments. Readers who enjoy “why choose” romance will likely find the multiple love interests a major highlight.
The world itself is full of potential, with vampire history, moon magic, supernatural politics, and ancient prophecies adding depth to the story. While I would have loved more exploration of the lore and more time spent developing every love interest, the fast pace and constant twists made it hard to put down.
ARC read: Lindsey has been one of my all time favorite authors for several years and she always come through with her novels in my opinion! In this newest book she has brought to life a world of Vampires, ancient magical and spicy love interest and it gripped me tight and took me for one hell of a ride.
The FMC Sophie has had a rough life, loss and pain, that has followed her every where she goes. On the run since she was a child Sophie has had to learn how to navigate completely alone for several years and we get to see just how hard that has been for her from the get go. Living a life as a vampire trying to blend in with mortals is never easy but when her world suddenly implodes you as the reader are left captivated and hoping for the best.
This book is heavy in the world building but Lindsey has supplied many extra spicy scenes that made all the lore easy to palate. I cannot wait to see what happens next in this ongoing series and oh man the love interest in this book are 🔥🔥🔥. Why choose romance has always been a favorite of mine and Lindsey has done it justice in this book because why choose one sexy vampire when you can have 7???

I need book 2 ASAP! I was so lucky to be able to get the ARC for this masterpiece of a vampire and shifters reverse harem of a book. I loved everything about it, the plot was chef’s 💋, the spice was amazing and the tension and the storyline was just all 5 ⭐️’s for more. Can’t wait to see what happens next on book 2 and do I highly recommend it? UM YES. I highly recommend as a whole. Please be sure to give Lindsey sparks a chance and read this book that has left me wanting more. Happy reading 🫶🏼
This book totally blew me away! It's the first in a new vampire series, and it throws you right into the action. Sophie, the last of her kind, is on the run and needs to make a deal with seven hot guys to survive. Talk about a wild ride! The story is full of danger and suspense, but it also deals with some serious stuff like trauma. You really feel for Sophie and her struggles. And let's not forget her son! She'd do anything for him, which makes her even more badass. There's plenty of steamy stuff going on, but it's not just about the romance. The plot twists kept me guessing the whole time. I can't wait to see what happens next for Sophie and her crew. 4 stars! Definitely pick this up if you love action, romance, and a touch of darkness.
I grabbed this audio because the premise of the book sounded really interesting. This was single narration by M.K. Blackwood and I thought she did a great job with the story and bringing it to life.
This is a why choose with a total of 7 people and while I expected spice, I feel that the spice was overriding the plot and so I didn't fully connect into the story. Selene's vampire connection and her connection to the immortals is via a blood bond, and with that it leads to the spice.
If you're looking for something on the spicy side, then this one might be for you, unfortunately, I just couldn't fully connect into the story. Huge thank you to Tantor Media and NetGalley for the copy to listen to!
when i read that this had 4/5 spice level, i didn’t believe it. but then i read it, and lemme tell ya 🥵 i am about to shock you all, but what held back my review from being a solid 5 stars was, in fact, the spice 😬 hear me out, people! the spice was hot, but i felt like sometimes it wasn’t super necessary, and took attention from the plot, which was honestly awesome!
in all honesty, i thought this book was good! i am surprised because it don’t typically go for the vampire/paranormal romances, but now i am wondering if i actually should start reading more!
This was interesting, I felt like a lot of things jumped or fast forwarded without much explanation but I’m enjoying the ride and definitely want to read what happens next! It’s steamy and paranormal plus the FMC is over 20 so I’m invested!!
