Good read. A trail to fallow along with. Great character .. Not a lit of mystery just goid detective work. You still need a prof reader. A lot of mistakes way tooooo many.
Far too many proof reader errors. Was able to figure most of them out but very distracting. Because of this I decided not to purchase the third book in the series.
A Coast Guard cutter rises out of the fog and begins a frightening chain of events. As two Coast Guard investigators begin their search for the culprit, they unearth much more than they had expected. discovering that there is a group of dishonorably discharged, possibly innocent people, leading them to realize that there is much more going on than their original find.
There are a couple of things that trouble me in this book. Molly Black create some good characters, but their best assets are jumping to conclusions. They look upon every person that they are going to talk to as the guilty party in their case. When that one doesn’t pan out, the next one is the guilty party. Additionally, I reread a few paragraphs several times to figure out how a man killed in prison could be on their list of people to go visit. They had his address and everything. There are some grammatical errors which also should’ve been caught in the editing process. I considered three stars, but I really did like the story.
Either this author is too arrogant to allow an editor to help her, or she needs to fire the one she has . While she has a good idea for a story, the constant errors in the book were too distracting to let you enjoy the read. Typos like leaving the first letter off of words, so Mick was called Ick, for example. Using the wrong pronouns... early in book called Mick her instead of him. Same deal with her boss. More than once. Forgetting the time frame of the action...a scene that was clearly in the afternoon, she forgets and refers to as the morning. I can't see myself reading anything else from this author. I spent too much time back tracking to see what I missed, only to find it was a writing mistake an editor should have caught before publishing. Too bad.
I was unfortunately quite disappointed with Rising Fear. I had very much enjoyed the first in the Cassandra Fierce series and was looking forward to reading this one. However, the amount of spelling and grammatical errors almost made it feel like it was written by an entirely different author than Rising Tide; I felt like I was a student proofreader taking my final exam. This was unfortunately very distracting, and the plot and characters honestly weren't exciting enough to make up for it. While I'd liked the first one and was interested in the Cassandra Fierce series, I don't think I'll be continuing after Rising Fear.
This was a very gripping story, fast-paced and totally unpredictable. I enjoyed the storyline, but toward the end, there were a great number of errors that detracted from my enjoyment. Using the wrong pronouns for male characters (she vs. he), misspelling characters' names, etc. It was as if the author was rushing to meet a deadline, since these errors did not appear in the first 2/3 of the story. Molly Black is becoming one of my favorite thriller authors, but the editorial process should not be skipped.
It takes a lot for me to DNF a book. Or to write a bad review for a fellow author, for that matter. But this book was so poorly written and edited that I just couldn't justify finishing it. My advice to the author would be to take this obvious first draft and work on it after doing a bit of research on investigative procedure. Then get a competent editor. THEN release it as a second edition.
Very disappointing after the first book in the series. I won't be reading any more.
First let me say have read many Molly Black books, and enjoyed them very much. This book however was not one of my favorites. I think that it was not the storyline as much as the editing. That being said, I have never read a book so poorly edited. So many misspelled words. Using the wrong pronouns, i. e., he when it should have been she, and she when it should have been he. Overuse of adjectives, etc.
While I haven't read any of the other books in this series or any of Ms. Black's books, I can say without a doubt I will not be wasting my time on any of them. The plot was thin and easily transparent. The continuity was terrible and filled with contradictory references. The grammatical errors, at least in the Kindle edition, would make a mid-high English teacher have seizures. There are plenty of other good books out there, don't waste your time with this one.
Wow, this book kept you on tge edge if your seat. Great story, characters believable, got to tour the country side. Again can't wait to read her next books.
Two Coast Guard investigators are on the case of finding out who was behind the murders of nine men on a Coast Guard cutter. The case gets more complicated when they find stolen weapons.
Fast paced but too many basic errors and inconsistencies made it annoying rather than interesting. Characters more like cardboard cutouts than believable people. Proper proofreading would have helped.
This book runs from action, revenge, murder to treason. Book two of the Cassandra Fierce series is literarily a bloodbath off the start when she and her partner are called to a vessel with nine murdered crewmen. She and Nick are shot at and set upon several times while tracking down the enemy.
A good book with an interesting story. There are quite a few proof reader errors and some plot holes in the book that tripped me up a bit but besides that I like the story quite a bit. The characters seem to have some good depth.
Although this had the potential to be a good book the grammatical errors, inconsistencies, and repitition were hard to get through. I often had to go back several pages to figure out names and writing inconsistencies. For example: a person in the passenger seat cannot see someone in the rear view mirror and a driver is unlikely to turn around in their seat.
A coast guard cutter is found with all crew members dead. Cassandra Fierce and her partner try to unravel the mystery and uncover the killer. Fast read. I rate this a 4.8
So many similarities related to her Glock and several other parts of the book. After her poor sleep she forgets to put on her boots to go to her meeting.
The author did a good job of describing the Characters and the scenes. The story moved along well and interesting twists and turns to keep you interested.
This is a fast-paced thriller with so many twists and turns that will leave your mind reeling trying to figure out where the next blow will come from. The use of the Lord's Name in vain is absolutely unnecessary.
