She's Got the Time

Rate this book
From author M.O. Mack comes the third heart-stopping thriller in the Suite #45 series, SHE’S GOT THE TIME.

SENTENCED FOR A CRIME SHE ONLY WISHED SHE’D COMMITTED…

Emily has made some pretty tough choices in order to survive. Some she regrets. Others, well, not so much.

Running from her corrupt FBI husband, for example? No regrets. Ending up working for a group of hit men? Big regrets.

On the bright side, the group only kills bad guys. On the not-so-bright side, the biggest cartel south of the border wants the group dead, and she’s number two on their list.

Emily’s biggest regret, however? Growing feelings for Charge, her hit man boss.

Because when the feds arrest her for the murder of her ex, Emily knows she’s been set up, and all signs point to Charge.

Why would he do this to her? The prison is filled with vicious criminals, and there’s a price on her head. Ten million dollars.

Can she find a way out before her time is up? Because she’d really love some sweet revenge.

The clock is ticking…

I am a fan of M O Mack, so any time I see a book available, I grab it. She’s Got The Time is her latest in the Suite 45 series, about assassins. I do love assassins, and M O Mack gives them a different twist, a fresh glimpse into their lives.

Emily had no idea what she was getting into when she took the job answering phones for a pest company. It wasn’t long until she learned the truth. Now, she’s face to face with Charge, wondering what is really going on. I’m with her. Does he care about her? Will her throw her to the wolves? It sure looks like it to both of us. Guess we shall see.

The action is fast paced keeping me involved and alert for the next bullet to come our way. Of course we have the good guys and the bad guys….or are they bad guys and those not quite as bad. And where do they fit on the scale?

Emily is locked up for a crime she didn’t commit, in one of the worst prisons in the country, and the cartel has a ten million dollar bounty on her head.

The romance…well…we’ll see about it. And it didn’t go the way I thought it would. Not the normal white knight in shining armor rescuing the damsel in distress.

The ending…I’m still deciding whether I like it or not. It didn’t make a whole lot of sense to me, but maybe the author has something in store for us and this is just leading up to some danger in the next story. After all, I don’t think they can just walk away and have a happy ever after…at least not yet.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of She’s Got The Time by M O Mack.

What a FANTASTIC mystery/thriller romance! I wanted to stay up all night reading because the book is that good. I am really loving the Suite #45 series and I adore Emily’s character. Uncertain of who to trust and what to believe, Emily is such a hoot as she attempts unravel multiple mysteries all while saving herself. She is a plucky heroine and seems to be constantly surrounded by chaos. It was such a joy witnessing her self discovery all while revealing that she is indeed, a strong woman.

This book is mostly a mystery suspense novel with some romantic elements. The romance is not the main focus and I think that fits well for this type of novel and the storyline. That being said, there is definitely some attraction and tension btwn Emily and one of the main characters. The suspense, the cleverness, the twists, and the smattering of humor enthralled me from beginning to end! Oh and that ending! I definitely hope there are more novels in this phenomenal series.

The stakes are raised and I'm here for every bit of it!

Can life get any worse than out of the frying pan and into the flaming Volcano? Apparently for Emily it can. Apparently things have gone full on Nuclear disaster.

After saving the life of her hit man boss Charge, Emily is finally feeling like she’s taking control of her life. Having undertaken the arduous task of nursing him back to health things are looking up, until they aren’t and she’s arrested and “convicted” of a murder she didn’t commit.

Once again fighting to survive, Emily is again confronted with her own mortality and the consequences of her choices. Has she put her faith in the wrong person? Has every decision she’s made just been one step closer to her own demise? Will she live long enough to find even find out?

In the third book in the Suite 45 series our protagonist must find her own inner strength, distinguish the half truths from the lies and find her one way forward without a safety net. Fraught with insane twists and shocking moments this book is a real page turner. Though a true thriller you will find moments of romance effortlessly woven in to move the plot forward in a realistic and ultimately human way. Will Emily lose her humanity in her struggle to survive, or will she be able to come out the other side stronger and finally in control of her own destiny. Though we are one step closer to finding out we do end on a cliffy this author is known for, but I’m not mad at it. I look forward to what the heck ever She’s Got The (Next) has is store for us.

It's been a while since I read the first two in this series and I am not sure I will continue. It's not bad or badly written it's not really for me. She's Got the Time by M.O. Mack is the third in the Suite #45 series and I never got hooked on the story.

Our sweet little Emily Wilson has gotten herself into quite the pickle this time. She’s escaped her abusive ex and accidentally had a job managing hit men. Bad enough, but now she has a huge bounty on her head and the drug cartel wants her dead. Even worse, she finds herself locked up in a maximum security prison for a murder she didn’t commit.

I never know what to expect from this crafty storyteller and tend to go into her books blind. Really, that only serves to up the WTH factor and my gobsmacked brain screaming, “What did I just read??” This one is lightening paced with an economy of words that had me flying through the pages and trying my best to hold on for the ride.

We get introduced to a new character, Elonzo Fernandez. I’m pretty sure we're supposed to hate him, but I found him quite likeable and relatable. And then we're supposed to like Charge, because Emily does, and I’m more ambivalent about him now than ever.

Pretty sure my brain is fried, or at a minimum confused, but I love every minute of this outrageous, ridiculous story. Add in contemplation of big life questions and the vast gray shades of morality, all of which are apt to cause an existential crisis, and I can’t get enough!

While you can read this as a standalone, you might enjoy it more starting at the beginning and reading straight through. There’s bound to be more to come since some things are left up in the air, but one thing is certain. You won’t find anything else like this in your romance reading, and you’re in for the time of your life with this one!

Oh man! This is such a great series. I know these are supposed to be considered “standalone” but I went back and read the two previous books to bring myself up to speed. I’m so glad I did. It’s been a while since the last book and I had totally forgotten who the players are. This book, like the others, gives you little snippets so you know what’s going on. But I loved reading them all at once. Like binge watching your favorite show!
I just love how strong Emily is and how her story keeps changing and spiraling out of control. I almost wanted this to be it so I might have some closure. But, no, Emily’s life is still just as crazy and who knows where the next book will lead her!

Thanks to M O MACK for the ARC!

Right when we're convinced by the evil author that things might settle
down for our heroine, we get kicked in the head and told, wake up, fool!!!
M.O Mack takes our poor Emily/Justine on yet another seemingly wild goose chase. Everything is not as it seems. . . .or is it?? Who knows!! No one seems to know which way is up in this awesome ,crazy series.
I love that there are crossovers from other series, ie: Vanderhorst Supermax! Lol!!
How does one tiny little red head get herself into so much dodo?

And! Here we go again with one of those endings. Ugh!! Hahaha, that was unexpected, well, most everything in this story was unexpected, and I love it.

After everything that Emily’s been through the last thing she expected was for Charge to have her arrested for a murder that she didn’t do. Yes granted Emily has killed someone but in defence but now she’s arrested, charged and sentenced to a supermax prison all without a trial and knowing exactly what Charge’s plan is? Emily’s life hangs in the balance as she’s starved and dehydrated while being the guards punchbag how could Charge who said he loved her do this to her well like everything else that has happened lately Charge has his reasons supposedly to keep her save from the cartel but with Charge there’s always a ulterior motive to his actions let’s hope Emily can stay alive long enough to find out what his plan is!!

In this next book in the series by M.O. Mack, Emily/Justine finds herself between a rock and a hard place. Having been in a position with suite forty five, a group of hit men, where she was being groomed to take over if necessary, she is told by Charge that the only way to keep her safe is to put her in prison. He swears that he will get her out but that it is the only way to keep her safe from the heroin king. She is forced to do things that she does not want to do and is transferred to another prison. She is broken out of prison, but not the way it’s supposed to happen. Will Charge save her? Does he really want to? Is the heroin king the terrible man she has been led to believe? Can she continue to hide from her abusive FBI agent husband? Will this book end in a twist that will snap your neck? Of course it does!

It’s hard to know what or who to believe. Emily/Justine is caught between hit men and the cartel. She’s needed everywhere but the lies and half truths cloud her thoughts. This one will keep you on your toes, just when you think it’ll work out one way something changes and we’re back to not knowing. It’s the third book, I’d like to say you could start here but that’s not true. I feel you’d miss out on her backstory and her connections to these characters. All the books are quick and highly entertaining, you won’t regret reading them. I got to enjoy an early copy and leave this review voluntarily.

M.O. Mack, what have you done!!!
Emily, no Justine, no Emily oh whatever she's gotten into it this time. Getting sent to a supermax prison, with a huge bounty on her head. AND betrayed by Charge??? that's just the tip of the iceberg. Whatever can happen will, in this third installment of the Suite 45 series.
It's a great quick read I didn't want to put down, I didn't even get caught reading at work. It's funny and intense at times. It is a slow and sometimes confusing burn.
I loved it.

Another great instalment in this series. Charge frustrates the hell out of me and I just want him to make his move already!! I love Emily (Justine), she’s just so good and cares so much about people, and yes she does work for a hit man for hire but still, she’s a good ‘un. Can’t wait to read the next one

Twists and turns you’ll never see coming as Emily tries to understand her place in the world between suite forty-five, the Heroine King and her violent ex Ed. This book is a whirlwind and test in who to trust. Looking forward to the next part of this wild ride!

Book 3 and I still love this series.
Emily has definitely been taken on an amazing adventure. She is a great heroine who is constantly surrounded by chaos and confusion. But she is strong in her own right and I like that about her, especially after the life she had lived.
Although I never know what to expect from this series, this one really took me for a ride. This one definitely has that WTF factor. 😂
More mystery suspense there is a little romance in this one.
You will be entertained too from beginning to end, from the twists and turns unexpected scenarios throughout the story.
Oh and prepare yourself for that ending!!!
Another great read.

Loved reading the entertaining and engaging third book in the series. When Emily is arrested for a murder she did not commit, thrown in prison without a trial and/or lawyer, she is shocked and angry to learn who is responsible. Read the highly recommended, wonderfully written, and a must read riveting story. Can't wait to read the next book in the series!

Emily (Justine) saved the guy, nursed him back to health, and now things are moving forward. Except for the pesky little thing that she's convicted and sent to prison for something she didn't do. Now she's fighting for her life, trying to figure out how her life has come to this, who's telling the truth, WHAT the truth actually is.

I love thrillers, especially when the lead is as likable as Emily is. She's strong, smart, and relatable. This is definitely a thriller, but with romantic elements in the man (men) she encounters. I'm not sure who, if any, she'll be with at the end, but that's honestly not important. She's the most important part of this twisty, surprising world. Be forewarned, there is a cliffhanger, but it's bearable, and has me really, really impatient to find out what's going to happen next with her.

When I first started reading this series, I was not a true fan of it but since then I now cannot wait to see what is going to happen next in this series.

Now I must take this opportunity to put out to the universe that if you are not a fan of cliffhangers then this is not read for you unless you can wait to see what happens next.

With that out of the way, the twists and turns that occur in this book had me hooked on this story. I could not wait to see what happened to Emily or was it Justine (??) next. I liked how there was self reflection for Emily so that she could find closure with her past vs her present and if she wanted to take control of her situation to make a change or if she wanted to continue being a victim of her past whether it be from her choices that led her to where she is now or with how her relationship ended up being with her abusive ex. All this occurs on a crazy roller coaster of a ride and before we factor in what is going on and has happened with Charge and now a new twist Elonzo.

Overall, this was a great read that I could not wait to see what happened around the next corner. I would recommend this book to others.

Emily made some choices and she does not regret most of them...however things get quite confusing when Charge has her locked in a prison where she is tortured...

Emily end up confronted to her past, choices to make the future and she get a better understand about suite 45 funding.....she knew not everything was black and white but this is a lot more complicated....Meeting the Heroin King she must choose what future she want, what way to use to get the situation she wish to create with more peace and protection for other but for that she must choose who she want to be first.

I guess i felt as confused as Emily with the different revelations and she is definitively more courageous than she believes. Charge is...Charge always so complexe with hidden agenda, Elonzon is terrifing but as strangely as it sound quite honest he is brutal, cruel but honest.....

Tension, suspense, steamy moment, moving one, one started you can't put the book down.

A good instalment in a serie that can't leave you indifferent

Another roller coaster ride of emotions in this latest installment of the Suite 45 series. Poor Emily is our heroine and has been through the wringer. Just a small town girl trying to get away from an abusive husband, who is an FBI agent. Once she learns what he is involved in, she decides to run. Although she’s running from the frying pan into the fire. She just can’t seem to get a break. But finally in this book, she finds her moxie and her strength. She defies arrest, beatings, false murder accusations, and she eventually comes to terms with her ex. She realizes that she needs to make decisions for herself and become the strong willed woman she deserves to be. It’s time to take a stand for what she believes in. Her decisions will definitely be unexpected and throw you for a loop. Will feelings for Chance sway her or will a new man be her salvation? Another great read by MimiJean. And as I like say, sit down with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine, and enjoy the read, or should I say ride? This is definitely a book that will be hard to put down once you start it.

Favorite Quotes:

Funny how people always said that men were the most cutthroat of genders. In Emily’s experience, women could definitely hold their own. And then go the extra mile. Especially when it came to revenge.

“Prison was the only vacation I could afford,” she said dryly. “And who doesn’t like orange?”

...behind the handsome face and beautiful eyes was a very vicious man, the kind they made miniseries about.

My Review:

While laced together with sarcastic humor – my favorite kind - this was an action-packed, complicated, gritty, and violent tale with kingpins, drug and sex traffickers, killers, murders, prison beatings, bloodletting, and corruption on various levels. I adore the biting snark and clever wit of MO Mack, but I wanted to give her Justine/Emily a few adjustments to her colon with my trusty Crocs for her wishy-washy indecision. She seems to attract trouble and violent men like a compass finding north.

This is the 3rd book in the series. This is a mystery/thriller romance.

Emily / Justine - winds up in a maximum security prison. The warden is dirty, and his guards are just as dirty. Emily is trying to escape, but she gets transferred to another prison instead. This new prison she needs to worry about being in gen pop with the other prisoners, not just the guards and warden.

In the 2nd book, She's Got the Money, Emily started having feelings / falling for Charge. But, that seems to have been a mistake.  Is he the reason behind her going to prison? Was that a ploy just to keep her safe?

Now Emily has been rescued by the Heroin King - Elonzo himself. Will she be able to trust him? Or will Charge try to rescue her again? Does Charge need her to continue Suite Forty-Five? Emily isn't sure who to trust, Elonzo or Charge. Who is telling her the truth?

I did receive a free ARC copy of this book. I am freely leaving an honest review.

What a ride! Betrayed by Charge & thrown into a brutal supermax prison without trial for a murder she didn't commit and with a $10 million bounty on her head Emily/Justine knows it's just a matter of time before the cartel or the corrupt wardens kill her.

Nothing is as it seems as Emily swings from one reality to another, not knowing who, if anyone, she can trust. Just when you think you know where the story is going, Mack pulls the rug out from under you. I thought the last Suite #45 was a roller-coaster but it's got nothing on this book. As usual the writing is superb & Mack had me going from tears to laughter the whole way through. The pace is relentless & I'm just addicted to this story. Can't wait to see what comes next.

Hey Hollywood! Make this series a TV show! It would be a hit! Pun not intended.
Before I gush about this book, I have to tell you if you haven't picked this series up yet start from book one. It's a continued story you'd benefit starting at the shallow end by the steps rather than jumping off the diving board and going straight into the deep end with this book.
Well, that sums this story line up pretty good without spoiling it and I didn't even try!
Emily gets in deeper with this book and just when you think she's going to break ... oh, wait, I'm not giving anything away.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book along with the others. The action, the suspense, the WTF is going on moments all came together in a story that had me reading well past my cut off time.

Let me start by saying I dont read mystery/crime novels except those written by M.O. Mack. The intensity, suspense and intrigue are coupled with twists and turns, some surprises and even a shocking revelation or two. The main players? Emily; smart, resilient and prone to bad choices especially in the men department. Charge; enigmatic assassin, distrusting, protective of Emily. Elonzo; charismatic drug lord, pushes Emily to take an honest look at herself, a man with an agenda. This book is gripping and gritty. I just didn't want to put it down. She's Got the Time was a cover to cover read in one sitting for me.

I enjoyed reading this story! I don't usually read a book in one sitting but I could not put it down had to keep reading to find out what is happening. Starts with Charge getting Emily put in jail and she does not know why. Emily has so much happening to her that she has to deal with and so many twist and turns and it ends with a cliff hanger and I look forward to reading the next book in this series.

Good story.

Emily deals with chaos in this story. Surviving threats , she gets stronger. Emily meets Elonzo, the Heroin King, who wants something from her. Elonzo appears to be honest. Charge irks me because he caused Emily to be framed for murder and sent to prison. I really don't know I like Charge , but Emily should not trust him. I enjoyed the twists in this story. I did not expect the ending. I look forward to the next book.

This story takes reader into life of hitmen, cartels and croaked cops and prisons. Once again Mimi had developed characters you can relate too and feel something for them. No matter who is right or wrong Emily has played all sides and still decides what to do with her life in the end.
This is a good continuation of the series and can’t wait for the next to see what happens to Charge and Emily.

Thrown in prison for a murder you didn’t commit. Sentenced without a trial. How could this happen? Can it get any worse? Just wait and see.

I love this series! So many twists and turns that you will not be able to put the book down. All I will say is I didn’t see that coming and that will keep me waiting for the next book for sure!
