Pamela Hart is the author of Beauty from Ashes and City of a Thousand Tears. Raised on a steady diet of fantasy, science fiction and anime, she spent most of her childhood failing to acquire a Boston accent. Since then, she has slurped ramen in Ikebukuro, stampeded through flamenco lessons in Granada, and splashed her way across a fishpond for the Milkman Triathlon in Dexter. During her travels, she tends to overpack horrendously, but never regrets cramming her backpack full of books to devour along the way. She wanders the planet with Joe, the love of her life, and her adorably maniacal Boston terriers, Willy and Marvin.
I loved this!! 10 out of 10!!! Cute, funny, very short, not your typical Medusa tidbits. Loved how interactive, sensitive, cute, loving, and protective her snakes are 💚💚💚💚💚 A wonderful pick-me-up too❣️ ❤️💛💜💙Color coding the Elves was kinda funny
📗I’d love to have this in paperback on my real bookshelf!!
Although the book does state it is a rom-com, it is probably more realistic to say that it is the prelude that leans heavily towards that particular genre.
Medusa Complex is a short story that captures mythological beings as characters while placing them very well in an almost modern college-like setting. The protagonist of the story is a gorgon who is the great-niece of the notorious Medusa and while she is artistic in her own sense, Belinda finds out that she cannot deal with her very loud neighbors as they disturb her peace.
The story is short and quick while there was definitely one ironic twist that quite made me laugh so I must say that Pamela Hart has probably gained another fan if the rest of her books shows as much creativity and fun as this one. I cannot wait to read the sequel to see what hijinks Belinda and Corin get up to next.
Would definitely recommend this read for those fantasy modern genre fans or just fantasy in general as it makes for a nice light read that can be quickly read through in one sitting.
