The Headmaster is a narrative, set in the richly constructed world of Föld, introducing us to Vai'Lura, a headmaster in a land rife with historical tension and evolving social dynamics. The story blends elements of high fantasy with profound character introspection, making it a compelling read for fans of the genre.

Vai'Lura is a strong, nuanced protagonist whose internal struggles and external actions drive the narrative. Her interactions with other characters highlight her depth and complexity. The story effectively captures her dedication to her role and her reflective nature, particularly regarding the historical and social changes in her world.

It is a perfect complementary addition to the main story, A Spider's Web.

Vai’Lura is the headmaster of a legendary combat academy Faizti’Tan. As the story progresses we learn more about her as a person and Faizti’Tan as it pertains to her.

The Headmaster is 67 pages, so longer than The Scion, but it takes those extra pages and uses them to weave the story. Overall, I loved the characterization and introspection of this story. I was able to see bits of myself in Vai’Lura which I think is what every author tries for though they don’t always succeed.

There are several quotes that I’ve highlighted in my book that caused me to stop and think. Because it is a story that makes you think in such a short space of time. And it is a story that I have already reread and come to different thoughts about.
