This book draws upon Nick and Matthew's extensive experience in the field of education and has a clear to explore the strategic and practical use of AI in schools, aiming to build AI awareness and capability for all students, staff and leaders in schools.
A powerful book for those dabbling in AI for their own teacherly work or thinking about policy and practice at a school level. Reads like a series of key discussions that educators need to be having in classes and staff rooms around the world, indeed it would function well in that fashion, as a chapter to read before a staff meeting or strategic planning focussed session. Lots of insights from teachers around the world to enrich discussions.
I liked this book but in the end I had some issues. Any discussion about AI in teaching that barely mentions security or privacy of student data misses the mark for me. There’s some great stuff in here, and even the points I disagree with were good for promoting deeper thought but it was disappointing not to get a slightly more nuanced perspective.
This book offers is a wonderfully practical and insightful approach to AI and contemporary classroom practices. How joyous to read a book about education, by an educator! Loads of good and tested ideas for teachers to experiment with as we all navigate the next tech evolution.
