Determined to drown out the pain of the loss of her beloved stepfather, Capri Jacobs embarks on a reckless journey of self-destruction, pushing boundaries and testing limits she never thought she’d cross. Not even her girlfriends can intercept her emotional implosion.
But when she hires a quiet, steadfast man to renovate her mother’s home—a house full of memories and meanings—she encounters a love so unexpected, it feels like a lifeline thrown into her storm.

As the Sun Rises by Kellie Coates Gilbert is the fourth book in the Teton Mountain Series. This is the last book in the series for those of you who like to binge read the series after they are finished. I loved this series about four girlfriends from high school who have stayed friends through the years. They have been there for each other through the ups and downs of their lives.
This book is about Capri Jacobs who has just lost her beloved stepfather. He is the only man in her life who was a father to her and they were very close. Capri lives with her parents while running her own rafting company. Her only reason is: it’s free. It is a complex story, but I’m not going to tell you. You have to read the book for yourself.
As the Sun Rises takes you through the grief process that Capri experiences with the support of her girlfriends. This is the friend in every group who holds some of her deepest feelings back. Her friends seem to know her well enough to know what is actually going on with her. Wouldn’t you love to have such a close knit group of women friends to help you through the tough spots in your life?
Kellie Coates Gilbert writes such heartwarming books. In this series it is a small mountain town where everyone knows your business and everyone helps each other out. The town sounds like my kind of town. You will love the characters she creates. There are the fun quirky ones. The troublemakers and everything in between. I enjoy her storylines in this series as each character’s story is different.
If this sounds like a series you would enjoy, I highly recommend it. It is well worth your time investment. This would make a great gift for yourself for some of your Christmas money. I think you should put it right on your nightstand and get started right away. Until next time…Happy Reading!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. The opinions I have expressed are my own and I was not required to write a review. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255.
Emotional And Visceral Series Conclusion. This is one of those books where you *feel* everything our main character feels. From the utter despair at the situation she finds herself in to the crash and crush of the white water rapids she thrusts herself into to try to escape the emotional turmoil... while telling herself that she's just doing her job.
While this is *technically* a romance, the romance is absolutely more of a side story here to the family and friend relationships of our primary character - so those that want a more romance-centric tale may not like this one quite as much, but those who enjoy a solid women's fiction with a touch of romance - still in the Hallmarkie type style, but with more focus on the friends than the boy, necessarily - you're going to enjoy this book quite a bit.
I personally came into this book having not read any of the prior three... which is probably not the best for a series concluding book, but even there, it worked well with fully fleshed out characters and a story that was easy to follow even coming in so late. Still, I absolutely recommend starting with Book 1 for anyone not reading an Advance Review Copy, as I did.
Overall a solid and emotional tale that will pull your heartstrings and have your pulse pounding with adrenaline in alternating measures.
This is the fourth book in this series. I have enjoyed each one of them because the friendship of these four women really speaks to my experience of how sturdy and encouraging friendship can be.
Capri is maybe the most free spirited of the friends, as she runs a river rafting company in Thunder Mountain. Events in her life, take a turn when her beloved, stepfather dies, and her mother soon finds a replacement and moves away. We see Capri struggle to find her footing.
As sure as the wonderful mix of characters in Thunder Mountain, and the unexpected events that might occur, the friendships that surround Capri and the new project ahead of her truly grounds her in growth towards things that are new.
I really enjoyed the story of Capri, and I appreciated the deep growth she experienced in trying new things. I have had a parent that moved on to new things quicker than I would have liked. So I really identified with Capri in this story. I really appreciate the quality of the story and while dealing with subjects that might leave anyone shaky, the author always returns to things that are true, and people who are strong.
Capri Jacobs is struggling to come to grips with the death of her stepfather and can’t see how her mother can move forward so quickly after his death. Capri has plans regarding her mother’s home, which is now hers, but finds that the contractor she hired to help has other ideas on what she should do with the house. Throughout everything Capri is going through, her three lifelong friends are there to help her along the way, whether she thinks she needs help or not.
A wonderful story of loss, strong friendships, healing, and moving forward. There were a few times I wanted to slap Capri for her childish behavior but she was finally able to come to grips with everything.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This book is a great final book of the series that follows 4 childhood friends through their lives and friendship. Each book of the series focuses on one woman but the friends are there. The fourth book is about Capri who has a river guide business. It’s so easy to picture the women and all the other characters, as well as the scenery in and around Thunder Mountain, Wyoming. While the books have romance, friendship is the main focus of the books. I recommend these books to any woman who likes a book with a story and a little romance on the side. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
“Life throws a lot at us, and sometimes it feels like we have to handle it all on our own. But no one’s meant to go through this stuff alone. When hard times hit, that’s when we need each other the most.”
Four childhood friends always there for each other no matter what. Through hard times and good times as they go through life, relationships, family issues. I could easily picture the Teton Mountains as I read from the descriptions. Now I really want to go see them through my own eyes. A story of finding out that it is possible to start again and letting go to allow others into your heart.
I received an ARC prior to publication and decided to voluntarily review it.
The 4th book in this series and I have loved every one of them. Capri Jacobs has her 3 best friends who are always there for her. Following the death of her beloved stepfather, Capri has a panic attack. She is overwhelmed when her mom moves on rather quickly after his death and moves away. She is fiercely independent and believes in doing everything herself. She decides to renovate her family home and hires Jake to help do the work. As they develop feelings for each other, Capri pushes away. With the help of her friends and Jake, Capri realizes that the load is easier with people to help. A great story of family, friends and strength.
Things are shaking both literally and figuratively for Capri. Her home life has changed and she keeps trying to avoid the obvious. I felt empathy for Capri because I thought it was time someone took a little taking care of her. The trio of friends rallied around her as she renovated her cabin and started to have feelings for Jake. Capri was a hard nut to crack but life had conditioned her to be wary. I thought the series wrapped up nicely with the backdrop of the glorious Teton range towering over a nice community where people cared about it and each other. Thanks to the author for the advance read.
As the Sun Rises by Kellie Coates Gilbert is the four book in a series. This series is about four friends and it's time for Capri's story. She is trying to come to terms with her grief after losing her stepfather even though her mother seems to have no trouble moving on. Her friends have been around and helped her in any way they can but someone she meets by accident might be just the one who can help her feel like herself again. Highly recommend this entire series!
Kellie has done it again! I liked this one best in the Teton Mountain series. Endearing friendships that never let go and learning how to let go of hurt and all the times you've been left behind. It's a BIG challenge but having someone to fall into can soften the landing. Realizing you can start again with gorgeous results.
Great book 4 in the Teton Mountain series. Capri is hurting after the loss of her stepfather Dick, the only father she really knew. It seems like her mother is moving way too fast. When her mother moves out of town with plans for elopement and relocation, Capri is truly alone. Her friend try to offer her support as only best friends can do
She decides to demolish the cabin, but handsome curled Jake convinces her to pursue renovations. At first Capri is resist to just about any change Jake suggests. Letting go is hard!
Meanwhile earthquake tremors hit the town and major renovations are needed to get town buildings up to code.
Thank you to the author for this ARC. This review is my honest opinion.
As the 4th book in the Teton Mountains series by Kellie Coates Gilbert, As the Sun Rises gives us a look at Capri’s story. So many changes are happening and Capri likes to be in control. This was a great book to read to see friendships in action, community coming together, lives changed and the development of a clean romance.
This the fourth book in the beautiful series that is all About friendship and helping each other and a small town you will want go to and move to! Kelli has introduced to us to four incredible woman and hope this not the end of the series because it was so good I don’t it to end!!!
Such an easy read. I love this friend group. The descriptions are always so good. I feel I am right there with the characters. Capri is definately a hard nut to crack. She is dealing with grief and the fear of opening up.
Capri's story is heart felt and genuine as she finds the strength to move on after a loss. Capri has always been the backbone for all those around her, she didn't like toise control of her surroundings but as the town and her friends and family are changing their life paths she finds she needs to as well let love in . This series is about friendship at its finest .
I love this series. I love the 3 friends and they deal with each other's problems. I think Capri is my favorite character. I can't wait to read the next one I this series.
This one is about Capri. She decides to update the house and she is hurting after losing her step dad. Capri and her mother disagree on grief. Capri learns to trust.
Kellie Coates Gilbert continues to draw me into her beautifully written stories. In As the Sun Rises readers get to better known Capri, one of a close- knit group of friends. Yes, friendship is a key element of this series as you can almost feel the ties the bind these ladies together.
Capri has long resisted making changes to her mother’s home, the house where she lives now. Romance was not on her mind – at least until she meets the someone special. The author does a wonderful job of helping her readers to make and understand the emotional transitions.
This reader could not resist the story set against the backdrop of the Teton Mountains, and a tale of deep-rooted friendship.
I received an early copy of this book from the author with no promise requested or made that I write a positive review. However, I have been mesmerized by every one of her books that I have previously read and found this to be just a spellbinding.
Kellie Coates Gilbert brings us Capri Jacob’s story in her fourth book of the Teton Mountain Series. It is a highly charged emotional story about letting go, embracing change, rekindling hope and letting others in. Capri stepfather’s passing has opened up raw emotions that she is trying to fight, thinking she can control every aspect of her life. But when she decides to rebuild her cabin and hires Jake Carrington as her contractor she is in for some awakening moments. Bit by bit the walls she has built begin to crack and crumble around her. An excellent story that you won’t want to end.
This book gives the reader a chance to know Carpi and her mother. We learn that her friend and father figure is gone. She has a hard time coping with the changes that brings. She has always been there to support her mom and Dick. What will she do when her mom finds love? Then she meets Jake who is easy going and seems to have feelings for her. That scares her and she finds herself running away from those feelings. Will Carpi find true love? Loved this series all of the books were so good!! As the Sun Rises was full of twists and turns.
