The moment I lay eyes on Eve, she knocks the breath right out of me.
She’s all soft curves, funny quips, and an easy laugh that makes me feel alive in a way I haven’t in years. I can’t shake the way I feel when she smiles at me. We have a deep connection that I’m still thinking about the next day.
Then I walk into my classroom and find her sitting there. A wide-eyed student, waiting for my biology lecture. Somehow, that doesn’t make her any less tempting to me.
It’s wrong. Every instinct I have tells me to shut this down, to put as much distance between us as possible. But she makes it impossible.
The way her eyes linger on mine. The quiet confidence that hides behind her innocence. The fire I feel every time we’re in the same room.
This isn’t just a bad idea. It’s career-ending, life-altering, the kind of mistake I can’t afford to make. And yet, I can’t stay away.
I know it’s reckless. Dangerous. But the pull between us is impossible to ignore.
What happens when crossing the line feels like the only option

Tropes/Themes: Professor/Student Big brother’s Friend Contemporary Romance Interracial Close Proximity
What it’s about: He’s her adopted brother’s half brother, and ever since they met, there’s been this undeniable pull between them. When she finally breaks away from her father’s control to attend Med School in Seattle their paths cross again when he turns out to be her Biology professor. Not matter how hard they try and fight it, nor the obstacles in their path, their initial pull towards one another never cheapens.
My Review: It started out so strong. I was hooked, having a hard time putting it down, but then it just fell flat. The characters felt robotic, two dimensional, and I honestly couldn’t care if they ended up figuring out their shit or not. The author had built all these amazing plot marks that could have lead to an epic third act breakup, or for the characters to show real growth, but it just didn’t happen. For example, she is trying to break away from her father’s control, and one of those controls is financial, she goes through this epic battle to gain independence for her to just almost let her new man take the financial control?
Another issue I had was that it wasn’t marketed as a sequel to a series or an interconnected standalone and there were so many facts or tidbits from another book, that you kind of had to fill the gaps with your own facts. Like her older brother’s relationship with her “boyfriend” what's the story here.
Finally, it’s apparently a interracial story, but what are the dynamics at play here? The author mentions his mother is black, but that’s the only qualifier? Really?
3.75 stars. This was my first book by this author and I really enjoyed it. The characters are complex and deal with a whole list of issues on their journey to find happiness. I really liked how the author had these characters handling things as it felt authentic and thoughtful. The characters bond over the loses they’ve had in life and the struggles they face with their families. The spice is good and spicy which was a nice bonus.
The reason I deducted a star was for 2 reasons. First, some dialogue got very repetitive. Carter kept explaining over and over why they couldn’t be together. Then constantly asking himself if she was worth it. I found that a bit frustrating. Secondly, the time jumps were confusing. I’m not sure if there will be headers at the start of chapters in the final draft but, I would have liked them. We would jump forward and backward on the timeline and it took me a bit to figure out where we were which ultimately took me out of the story.
Overall, I really enjoyed the characters and would read more from this author. Thank you to Vivian and The Author Agency for this ARC in return for my honest review. My opinions are my own.
Tropes: Age gap Professor x student Half-brother’s adopted sister
Not sure what I was expecting, but perhaps something darker and more intense. It was a romantic novel about a meant-to-be love. Since Eve and Carter met, they’ve been drawn to each other. However, she’s his half-brother’s adopted baby sister and now his student. The university strictly prohibits student-professor relationships, and his brother has forbidden them from dating. Despite these obstacles, their love and attraction persist, pulling them together.
In terms of the book and the story, I found the right amount of spice. It was an easy read and enjoyable.
This was so good. I loved Carter and Eve. Things didn’t come easy but despite everything they didn’t back down or take the easy route. The chemistry was great and it was well written.
Eve and Carter couldn't be more forbidden. He's her brother's best friend AND her professor. Both know what and who they want, and it's each other. Is love more important than their careers, and his friendship with her brother?
All the forbidden deliciousness of professor/student is doubled when he's also her adoptive brother's best friend (and half brother). And whew is their chemistry sizzling. But I actually love their emotional connection even more. The sweet, swoony and dominant Carter can't help but be drawn to Eve, forbidden thought it may be, and their love couldn't be denied, even though they stood to lose everything for it.

Wow, FORBIDDEN PROFESSOR has to be the most intensely emotionally deep and hot Romance that Author Vivian Wood has written so far. I mean seriously, she has written hot AF before 🔥🔥🔥 but holy hotballs batman, I felt the deep emotional longing to my soul !!!!! The passionate connection between Eve and Carter was almost a third character in itself and while this book doesn't lean into the darker heavier atmosphere that Ms Wood normally inhabits with her bad boys, it is very much in the vein of the earlier books that featured the romances of the secondary characters I loved seeing again. Case in point being Evie’s step-brother Aiden, and Carter's reference to his own difficulty with Aiden's wife Olivia's own brother!!! Incidentally, I loved their books, and I'm going to have to be hitting them again methinks! And if you've not read them, I also very much reckon you should do the same.
Individually, the characters of Evie and Carter were written in such a way that there never seemed to be a power imbalance between them. Sure Evie had been pretty much controlled and cloistered by hers and Aiden's father, but in spite of herself she had determination and brains tempered by a beautiful heart driven to help others stricken with health issues as their mother had suffered.
In turn, Carter was protective, patient and so-very-attentive. Add this to the hot-teacher complex and you have the complete package that makes for a v-e-r-y much desired book boyfriend. I loved that Evie was the centre of his world even before she knew it and they'd cemented their relationship.
Yep, I believe this is a forbidden slight age-gap innocent Student-Teacher romance done right. While the culmination of their relationship isn't rushed, I still couldn't call it a slow-burn because the tension going on felt all to hot to me. Smouldering. Blistering. Scorching. Smoking. Sizzling. Yeah, these words describe it so much better, and whoomfa, it all bursts into flame. Carter isn't quite as dirty a talker as some of Ms Woods heroes, but to be honest, he was deliciously dominant and I really loved the way he was with Evie.
While there is some familial connection, it is not by blood but rather through adoption to Carter's half-brother, but the most forbidden part is the medical school's teacher/student relationship and if your rock music taste extends to songs like Van Halen's “Hot for the teacher” or my personal teenage favourite, “Don't Stand so Close to Me” by The Police, then you'll know this taboo-type-fantasy has been around since forever.
Seriously though, read the blurb, know that Ms Wood has done great by her characters and that it's an emotionally intense hot romance that ticks all the hot boxes. 5 ✨️ ❥❤️❥

🖤 Professor/Student 🔥 Age Gap (10 years) 🖤 Virgin FMC 🔥 Big Brother’s Friend 🖤 Contemporary Romance 🔥 Interracial Couple 🖤 Close Proximity 🔥 Forbidden Romance
Forbidden Professor tells a.. well, a forbidden romance between a professor and his student who happens to also be the little sister of his friend. Imagine THAT!
Carter is trapped in a sticky web with his friendship, career and love all on the same line. He loves his career; it's what he has set to do. And friendship is something a man like him honor. But Eve has bewitched him for far too long. He has tried to stay away but the moment she walks into his class, he knows it's just a matter of time the walls crumble. And when Eve pays him back by letting another man touches her, he learns how jealousy is the ugliest thing.
For me, this story is fast-paced. I wouldn't say that it's an instant love between Carter and Eve because they've had this whole attraction for years. So when life puts them on such proximity, everything just started to crack. There's the classic push-and-pull in the beginning of their story and it's so funny to see how Eve manages to irk Carter off when she's doing the exact thing he wants: to get away from him. I mean.. yeah, it's not fun to have it rubbed in your face, is it?
Aside from the main couple, I'm also drawn to Aiden. I love how his feelings are portrayed suitably in this book. His arguments and the logic behind his take on the pair's relationship is valid. It's like a natural brotherly trait that's written well. And I've always loved that rebellious moment where characters who are tied and controlled by others under the pretense of 'love' or 'protection' be it by their family or others finally stand up on their grounds. Like yes! Do. Not. Be. Ashamed. For. The. Outburst!
Oh, how much I love this book! 💕 It's absolutely captivating and left me swooning at every turn.
If you're a fan of the forbidden romance trope, this is the book for you. It has everything to keep you hooked:
Professor x Student Trope (a deliciously taboo dynamic that keeps you on edge)
Forbidden Romance (filled with tension and heart-racing moments)
Jealous MMC (Carter's protective and possessive streak is to die for!)
The chemistry between Eve and Carter is electric! Every scene crackles with tension, desire, and raw emotion. Their connection feels so real and intense that it’s impossible not to root for them, even with all the odds stacked against them.
What I loved most was the way the story balanced passion with heartfelt moments. It’s not just about the heat—though there's plenty of that—it’s about two souls finding each other in the most unexpected circumstances. The way their relationship evolves is both tender and exhilarating, making this a page-turner I couldn't put down.
This book has officially claimed a spot in my list of top forbidden romance reads. If you enjoy a story that’s steamy, emotional, and sprinkled with just the right amount of angst, you need to dive into this masterpiece. Trust me, it’s a rollercoaster of feelings, and you won’t regret a single second!
The book revolves around Carter, medical school professor, and Eve. They both met during a holiday celebration, and got attracted to each other from the very moment, without knowing that Eve's a student, they both got shared the night together.
Things get complicated when Carter gets to know that Eve is one of his students. Even though, the risks, their chemistry only intensifies, and both of them planned for a secret love affair. They both face numerous challenges, which somehow threatens to tear them apart. There are a lot of ups and downs in their lives, and tough choices leave them both Carter and Eve at a point where they must figure out if their love is worth the sacrifice.
Both Carter and Eve share a deep and passionate connection that makes it a fast paced book. The book is filled with intense chemistry and the tensions in their relationship drive them both to the edge. This story is full of angst, conflict but at the bottom of it all, a love story. It was very enjoyable, the writing style was excellent and it put a unique spin on the whole student/teacher story line. I found the characters fascinating and loved their intense scenes. The plot was interesting and overall, I was happy with the way things turned out.
📚: forbidden professor (arc) by Vivian Wood — releasing Dec 10th
my rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
aesthetic: 💔🔥🎓✨⚡❌💭🖤🔍🌪️🌹📖🎵
tropes: professor/student, big brother’s friend, contemporary romance, interracial, close proximity.
This story was an intense and forbidden romance that had me hooked from the very first chapter. The dynamic between Eve and her professor was undeniably electric—filled with tension, chemistry, and the kind of magnetic pull that makes it impossible to put the book down. Eve’s charm and wit paired perfectly with the professor’s internal struggle, making their relationship feel both complicated and deeply emotional.
The forbidden aspect of their connection added layers of stakes and suspense to every interaction, keeping me invested throughout. The writing was compelling, and the dual perspectives gave an insightful look into both characters’ emotions, fears, and desires.
However, there were moments when the pacing felt a little rushed, and I wished for more time to explore their individual backstories. That said, the author still delivered a heartfelt, emotional story that tackled morality, passion, and choice beautifully.
If you enjoy forbidden love stories with strong emotions and complex characters, this is definitely worth the read!
Forbidden Professor by Vivian Wood. This is the story of Eve and Carter. Eve has had a crush on Carter for a while. There is just one problem. Carter is the half-brother of Eve's brother. I hope I can clarify this for you. Eve and her brother share the same mother, and the brother and Carter share the same father. Now at medical school, she ends up with Carter as her professor. He initially was teaching at the Community College. However, the opportunity for him to join as a professor came about when the old professor was fired for having sex with his students. Carter has feelings for Eve also, but he is more concerned about how his half-brother will feel. Eve, too, is concerned about how her brother will take the news as well as her adopted father, who is so beyond overbearing. Now, having Eve as his student has opened up another can of worms. I struggled with the whole family dynamics as well as the step-father/daughter relationship. I did like Eve and Carter's journey to their happily ever after. His story was something else as well. His family dynamics were strange as well. It's just a whole lot of a whole lot. It was a cute story. I was too distracted and confused, so this was a 3 star read for me
If you’re looking for a lighthearted and short book to help you reach this year’s Goodreads reading goal then consider picking this one up. (3.75-4⭐)
Forbidden Professor by Vivian Wood follows Eve and Carter as they try to push aside their attraction to each other and maintain a professional relationship as student and professor.
Note: If you haven’t read Vivian’s previous books in the same series (like me), you might be confused into thinking that they might be related in the first few chapters, but don’t worry they are NOT.
For me, this was a pretty quick and light read. I liked that Eve and Carter were all about communication and weren’t afraid to talk to the other about whatever’s troubling them. The steady support they had for one another throughout the book never wavered in the face of adversity and they were willing to give up on many important things for each other.
Although there were a few unnecessary spicy scenes, too-long dialogues and the climax was a bit anti-climatic, it was still a decent read.
Thank you Vivian W and The Author Agency for sending me this ARC.
The best kind of Forbidden Romance! It's exhilarating, captivating and oh so FASCINATING. Lets not forget that it's really enticing and HOT HOT HOT!
From the moment I started reading Carter and Eve's story I was hooked. The undeniable attraction, the deep connection and likeness thay have for one another is so open and heart-gripping. You can't help but want them to explore their relationship. The fact that Carter is Eve's adoptive brother's step brother adds additional angst to this already interesting and alluring story. As for these characters, Carter is charming, caring and has that dominating trait we all just LOVE! Eve, may be young, sweet and endearing but she also knows what she wants and goes after it and that's why I enjoyed her character.
So if you enjoy getting lost in a story that has some fun flirty banter, steamy sexy times and beautiful conversations with all the FEELS, you will be absolutely satisfied with Carter and Eve's nicely intense, passionate and heasrtwarming story.
Eve and Carter have been mutually attracted to each other right from the start when they first meet via her adopted brother, Aiden. Carter is Aiden’s half-brother and he is also (surprise!) Eve’s biology professor.
The forbidden nature of a possible relationship between them makes them go back and forth between choosing work/studies or family vs each other. But the heart wants what the heart wants, and soon Eve and Carter realise that they are so deep in love with each other. But can they overcome all the challenges for their relationship to stand a chance?
I loved how Carter took care of her during those moments when she needed him. Regardless of whether it was something small or big, he was always there for her. Surprisingly, some of my favourite scenes was when they did “mundane” stuff like him helping her to study. But of course, the spicy scenes were amazing too. 😍
Despite the family drama on-going throughout the book, it didn’t feel too angsty as it was always interspersed with cute kitten scene, blazing hot dates and deep conversations between the couple.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.
This is the story of Eve and Carter. If you are looking for a darker book then you will not find that here. But I didn't mind that about this story at all. There is no denying that from the moment these two met. But there is a forbidden element with this book and she is his half brother's adopted sister. But more than that, now she is his student. Being her professor he knows that the university he teaches at absolutely forbids relationships between students and professors. Add to it that his half brother has made it more than clear that he is to stay ways from his sister, and you have a couple of forbidden elements to this book. However, none of that stops two people who feel the way these two begin to feel about each other. These two have an emotional connection that is just amazing to read about. These two just can't help themselves and you are going to be loving every second of this book.
“I can either fight this attraction or take a chance and embrace the possibility of something extraordinary.”
Forbidden Professor was a fast-paced, enjoyable read that’s full of steam and emotion. Carter and Eve’s forbidden romance is taboo on so many levels, but the chemistry between them could not be denied. More than that, they challenged and encouraged one another throughout every obstacle.
“With you, I found the strength to be myself.”
I enjoyed the flirty banter and passionate spark between these two characters. It was evident in every interaction, but what I appreciated the most was how they communicated with one another. There was no game playing or misunderstandings. They were truthful and honest and upfront about every issue and every feeling which was so refreshing. Forbidden Professor was a fun and spicy story with an engaging storyline that was full of heat and heart.
Carter and Eve's forbidden love story is the perfect blend of light-hearted banter, sizzling hot passion and rule-breaking drama. It is absolutely captivating and kept me glued to the pages from start to finish. There are so many swoon-worthy moments, so much sweet romance, that at times my heart almost couldn't take it and melted in awe. Swoon … The forbidden professor-student aspect, the inherent conflict of interest, and the accompanying drama in all aspects of life provided the suspenseful balance in this great love story.
Carter is the perfect, sweet and caring yet dominant cinnamon hero with the biggest heart ever that every girl dreams of, and Eve is his worthy counterpart who knows exactly what she wants and goes for it. I loved their dynamic so much. Their love story is definitely one of my reading highlights this year!
And an added bonus: I got to see glimpses of previous characters and their ongoing romance, and I really enjoyed that.
🔥 Age Gap (10 years) 🖤 Virgin FMC 🔥 Big Brother’s Friend 🖤 Contemporary Romance 🔥 Interracial Couple 🖤 Close Proximity Professor/Student 🔥 Forbidden Romance
Forbidden Professor: Forbidden Dreams is a standalone romance by author Vivian Wood. This is the first time reading this author. This is the story between a professor and his student who happens to be the little sister of his best friend.😳😳
Carter (MMC) and Eve (MFC) have known each other for years and have had this attraction and chemistry for years. Now Eve is taking his class. Which only ignites the sparks and drama. Eve knows that Carter is attracted to her, so she strikes the match by flirting with another man. This only causes more 🔥🔥🔥
This forbidden romance has just enough drama, secrets, and chemistry to keep this fast-paced story juicy. Aiden (who is a supporting character) is a lovable character. Definitely would read another book by this author.
I really enjoyed this book the chemistry between Carter and Eve was so good the both of them trying so hard resist each other I couldn’t put this book down read it within 24 hours!
Evea girl who wants to branch out on her own with out the control of her father but needs his financial support to go to medical school love that she stands up for herself and she wants Carter as much he wants her. She is also adopted. Carter✨eve’s brother’s half brother who also becomes eve’s professor he knows he shouldn’t have a crush on Eve since it’s his half brother adoptive sister but he can resist her. The spice is spicy once they forget about what everyone else thinks about them being together and give into temptation. This was an ARC read Thank you so much Vivian wood for the opportunity for reading this!
Eve, a medical student starting her studies a little late comes into her classroom to find Carter as her new professor. Her adopted brothers half-brother. The guy she's been in love with for years. Umm... right up my street.
☑️ Professor x Student ✅️ Age Gap ☑️ Virgin FMC ✅️ Adopted FMC ☑️ Interracial Couple ✅️ Forbidden Romance ☑️ Taboo ✅️ Big Brother's half-brother ☑️ Angst
Poor Carter - I feel for him, forced to have to choose between his friendship with his family, his profession and the woman he loves? But its he just super effin' sweet? Honestly.. some of the things he says... *swoon* 🥰
Eve, ugh - her life ain't easy, but one look at Carter makes it all worth it... Can they resist the pull and push of wanting each other but not being able to act on it?
I was really needing a good forbidden love story and of course Vivian delivered. She does Eve and Carter's story with the perfect amount of passion, humor, and some drama. I really needed to know what was going to happen next, so I read this in one sitting. I just could not help it.
I am not one for the professor and student romance, but since Vivian wrote it, I knew I had to read it. I was not disappointed. She just has a way with words and to me everything seemed so sweet and of course there was the usual drama with this type of situation. But Carter just, swoon!!! He will make you fall in love with him and he really seems like the guy that every young girl dreams of catching one day. Well Eve gets that chance and it is beautiful to read. I would definitely recommend Forbidden Professor for anyone looking for a good read.
I really enjoyed this story! It reminds me a little of *Pretty Little Liars*, especially the dynamic between Aria and Ezra. This was a quick read filled with delicious tension, fun characters, and just the right spice level. The interactions between the characters kept me engaged, and I loved the blend of taboo and sweetness.
The plot revolves around a deep connection that feels both exhilarating and wrong, which added to the suspense. I did have a little trouble with some parts of the reading, but overall, it’s a fantastic story. The concept the author explores is intriguing, and I appreciated how it unfolded.
If you’re looking for smoking hot professors, innocent temptations, and a sizzling affair, *Forbidden Professor* is definitely worth diving into!
Wow! I absolutely loved this book. Amazing characters and wonderful plot. Very beautifully written and easy to read.
Eve Moreland has a crush on her adoptive half-brother’s half-brother. Yeah, it’s very complicated, but they’re not related. He has the same feelings for her, but everyone would be against it.
Everything becomes even more complicated when Eve sees Carter in her cell biology class. He’s her new professor. Carter really hard tried to stay away from Eve, but eventually he gave in to their desires. I loved their chemistry and passion. They were made for each other.
Overall I loved this book very much. If you’re looking for a forbidden, student/teacher, age gap romance then you’re going to love it.
This was a good read. Forbidden romance is one of my favorite sub-genres, add in a little age gap and we’re good to go. 🤩 Carter and Eve have been fighting their feelings since they met. It gets harder to fight when Carter becomes her professor. There are outside forces besides being student/teacher that is getting in the way. I enjoyed this read and it took me on a bit of a rollercoaster ride. Eve’s father was an overbearing father who needed to cut the proverbial strings. Carter’s mother needed some help doing the same. You need to read this story. It was good and had drama, angst, twist, secrets, learning to break free and some hot chemistry. These two were meant for each other. They completed and complemented each other. It was great seeing some familiar faces.
Forbidden Professor is the first book in the Forbidden Dreams series. This is Carter Morgan and Eve Moreland’s story. Turns out Carter is Eve’s brother, Aidan’s half-brother. No relation to Eve since Eve is Aidan’s adopted sister.
Is this more meant as Forbidden because of Carter is Eve’s Professor or because Carter is somewhat related to Eve even though not blood related. BTW I had a friend who also read this book, and she really had a hard time with their convoluted relationship.
I felt that Forbidden Professor was an enjoyable book to read, and I will be looking for more books to read by this author!
This is my first book from the Author and I enjoyed the overall story line. The forbidden aspect of not only the professor x student trope but also semi siblings but by blood between Eve and Carter was exactly what I want out of a taboo romance.
I did feel like the story jumped around a lot in the timeline and I found it hard to understand what was happening. There was also a lot of the same dialogue of we can but we can’t which got slightly repetitive towards the end.
I think this story has a lot of potential. Thank you so much to the Author Agency for allowing me to read this arc.
Double the forbidden turmoil, this story started with a slow burn and ignites into an explosion of emotion. Carter is Eve's new professor, but their previous interaction has thrown their reunion into a confusion of desires and feelings. This unexpected complication was a rollercoaster of anticipation and heart pounding moments that will have you on edge. Carter and Eve were formidable characters that stuck by each other knowing what they wanted once they gave into their attraction. This was a fantastic read with greatly complex characters. It is definitely worth the read!
I received an ARC of this book and voluntarily leave this review.
Carter and Eve feel a connection that is undeniable! That comes to a screeching halt when Carter discovers Eve is one of his students, ultimately putting a damper on their beginning romance. It should be forbidden, but it feels too right to just let it go. Forbidden Professor leads readers down an intense rabbit hole of heated moments and nail-biting suspense as the two juggle if it is best for them to continue this forbidden dalliance or end it all before it had really begun. As always, this author is incredible at writing interesting characters and and sweet and spicy romance! Can't wait to read more from the Forbidden Dreams series!
Eve has had feelings for Carter for a while, but their complicated family relationship has made anything between them difficult. The situation is only more difficult when he becomes her professor, and she knows exactly what to do to get his attention.
Carter is torn between love and loyalty when it comes to Eve and that doesn’t even take into consideration that any relationship between them could end his career. Even though he knows he should keep his distance his heart doesn’t agree.
Great chemistry, some emotional turmoil and two people who belong together even though the challenges they must overcome will test their love and their relationship.
I had high hopes for this one but it didn’t live up to the expectations. Plot is messy and it felt like author has cramped too many different things in one story. How Eve and Carter are related is so damn confusing. During a lot of scenes Eve came across as spoiled brat and not in a good way. Carter's character is so indecisive and it was annoying that he kept on going in circle regarding his feelings for Eve. Unfortunately, I didn’t enjoy this book.😕
