An exhilarating nerve-wracking grand finale of a mesmerising series. Never and her misfit found family totally captured my heart and definitely put Silas Reames on my top fav authors list. The characters were interesting and the storyline kept bringing more twists, brutal fights, plenty magic as well as found family ties and romance. Towards the end I had heart palpitations during the crucial fight with the other Risiks even though I knew Never will survive. I thank my lucky stars that I didn't miss out so Do put these books (8 incl prequel) on your Tbr if you haven't read it yet.
My girl Never is back! Yippee! But it's bitter sweet, I'm drooling in anticipation except, it's the final book in the series! 😭 There was so much I needed to know, I HAD to know and glory be, did Ms Reames deliver!
Never is a persona (she's WAY more than just a character!) who brought out the fiercest most protective juices within me when I first met her, what she went through, what she had to endure, holy macaroly! One would think that she would be a jibbering mess, but not MY Never! No, she the toughest most resilient person "I know", she's resourceful and a tad impulsive, ok, a lot impulsive. But she's honed her impulsiveness, to a degree, when she opened herself up to feel, when she finds she suddenly has something she lacked for most of her life, a family. The most beautiful found family EVER! Her evolvement in this series is superb, her growth is magnificent, not only her inner voice that is quieted, her magic, what she is, what she becomes, THAT'S ALL spectacular! But hang on, I need to give credit where credit is due, and that goes 100% to this outstanding author! SHE brought them into existence, SHE shaped them, SHE crafted a story that consumed me.
These characters are fun, they're gutsy, they're gritty, they feel like "my family" Heck, I'VE gone through so much with them, I'VE experienced their pain, I'VE felt every iota of their pain, no wonder they feel like family! And they're so darn likeable too, whether it's Never herself, the hunky Nahum, who makes my heart go "pitta patter" especially when, as a dragon and hoarder of books tells Never "I love you more than any of my books. More than all of them combined " There's also Aggie, Chrys, Nadia, Elios, Calypso, Hugh, Jackal, Calder, or the enigmatic Bone Collector, who's transformation warmed my heart, it just made my urge to get into their psychi all that more encompassing. Even the Fates, who, I seriously couldn't see their motive for their deeds until I could. So many awesome characters, so many incredible events, so many hidden facts, and Never tries to unravel it all. Almost an impossibility, almost.... everything is a challenge, everything is just so complicated, as she says, "When is someone going to toss something simple onto our plates?" The final hurdle Never and her friends face, is THE battle. Riziks who would subjugate everyone and everything can't be allowed to succeed and the only way to have even a smidge of hope at defeating them, Never needs allies, which, typically, she's hard pressed to convince. And when the battle begins, what unfolds, the sacrifice, my lordie, I had to forcefully shove my tongue back in my mouth, it just hung there, limp and unable to retract. Awesome awesome awesome scenes! Scary as shoot too!
One would think with the army Never has ammased, the allies who are with her, with BR on her side, the outcome is a a foregone conclusion. But it's not. Ms Reames takes everything I THINK will happen, throws it into the mud and squishes it until it's unrecognisable. I was kept guessing, I was kept on my toes, I was kept surprised. Tension? Drama? Holy moly, this book has it in spades! Desperate times call for desperate deeds, but even I was cringing and writhing at what poor Feral went through. And the characters are impossible NOT to like! Silas takes every character and gives them their own unique characteristics and even redemption! Like Damian, I'd never have thought I'd actually start liking him, but there you go....Danger had a lot to do with his "mellowing" out too. She's so cool, she gives Chrys a run for her money on exuberance!
Although less dark than the previous books, it's still as gritty, it's still as intense, it's still a potent read, and the humour is unexpectedly brilliant, in fact, it's another can't put down read, a signature of this author, like a packet of biscuits, one CAN'T stop until you've eaten them all! The ending was awesome, the conclusion everything I thought it would be and more, I got to see Never go through challenges and battles and come out the other side, much changed, but one thing is still the same, Never will always have a place in my heart, she's MY found family!
Never is preparing for the final battle between her and the Riziks. It is going to take everything she has and everyone she can rally. But of course, nothing goes to plan and the villains don't make it easy on Never. After a botched kidnapping, Never's allies start arriving at the vampsion and the enemies start to get even bolder. If they want any chance of winning, they will have to take the fight to the Riziks and try to catch them off guard. With the fate of everyone she loves at stake, can Never do what it takes to save the world? Never has evolved over the series and her family has grown. She has people she cares about and wants to keep out of harm's way, but it has changed how she operates. She is more careful than she used to be and likes to keep everyone in her sights. But to win this fight, we get the old Never back, the one who charges in, kicks butt and asks questions later. We also get to see what the rest of her family can be capable of. Never has to finally let go and let them help. All of her "family" get to help in their own way and Never even manages to ask for help from Damien. From the beginning of this book, it is nonstop action. With the battle finally coming to a head, there is never a dull moment in this book. The characters have to go through some loss and heartbreak throughout this book before they find the happiness. There were moments where I almost had to put down the book because I was worried about what would happen. You will be holding your breath wondering how the author could do this to you. But the ending was perfect and I loved the set up for the new series as well! (I also love the new series in case you were wondering!) The entire series was fun, chaotic and fiery and I am sad that it is over, but it really was the perfect ending.
Well Hell! What a finale! Never and friends are set to fight the two Rizik’s who plan to take over the world and destroy everything and everybody that doesn’t join them. Never is calling in all of her friends, allies, previous contacts, anyone she can think of to help. But the question is, will it be enough. From Aggies parents, who are not happy with Aggies choices and still think she should go home with them to Chrys’s parents who are all in, to the Fae royals who are sort of in and very reluctant, old Were packs from Never’s past, to Magikai enforcers and representatives, and every sort of paranormal creature you can think of, they are all ready. This book has a massive amount of action, humour, suspense, surprises and a fantastic story. There were times I was shocked at the actions unfolding, other times that I was completely surprised. I was moved, upset and happy. It was a roller coaster of a read. It was magnificent. I loved every word and am deeply disappointed that this was the last book in the series. This is definitely a series I will reread and highly recommend.
We have come to the end of this incredible journey and boy does the author deliver in this action-packed conclusion. Never has been an extraordinary character, strong, fierce and totally kicks ass and her adventures have been addictive and exciting and action packed from start to finish. I have come to love these characters, this found family of Never’s, as we have followed them through thick and thin, felt their pain and felt their happiness and seen them grow and come so far. Well paced, well written, I found myself immersed in this incredible world for one final time as questions are answered and storyline bought to a close as we face one final battle, It’s dark, it’s gritty and it’s a little intense but OMG it is an incredible read and an ending worthy of this series. This is a series I will definitely be visiting again.
An amazing end to what quickly became one of my favourite series of all time. The characters, the story, the action...there's nothing I didn't love about the entire series. This final book of the series was just the icing on the cake. If you've read the others, you will know this is a must-read. If you have not met Never yet, go straight to book 1 - do not pass go, do not collect $200... get reading!
Ohhhhhh my stars!!! I felt ALL the feels with this book! I mean, seriously, this was beyond a roller coaster ride of plot twists & emotions! The number of times I huffed, "Dude!! Seriously?" Or had to **gently** place my kindle down to stop me from launching it Or cackle at an Aggie innuendo Or re-read chapter 16 three times (coz it was beautiful) Or (are we on three "Ors" or four?) Take a 45 minute break before reading chapter 37+
Oh I love the Never books and I hope they'll be lots of spin off books. This final book hit all the feels. Action on nearly every page, love, heartbreak and all the quirky characters I've become so invested in. I'm not giving any details, as usual, you just have to trust me and read it. "Those pompous, pastel, puke-inducing, prince and princesses of patheticness" love it
I love every part of this series. I love the author’s imagination and mixing shifters&witches with traditional mythology created a wonderful world for her story. There’s a heroine who grows throughout the series learning from her experiences and mistakes. So good to read rather than the tough stoic heroine that never changes. Highly recommend this series!
A great ending to the series. Everything is coming to a head, and it’s time for Never to round up her found family, friends and allies. The Rizik’s are coming for Never, they want to be gods and they’re willing to destroy anything and anyone who stands against them.
Just found this author and the first book in the Never Series. I couldn’t put it down and went straight through the whole series. The writing is engaging and very well written and the plots and stories were just superb. If you love Magic and Fantasy you’ll love these books.
I have absolutely loved this series! Reading about the emotional growth of Never and all the interesting characters joining her in her adventures. I highly recommend the whole series. Action packed and has a lot of kick arse women.
I LOVE Never! The entire series is fantastic, and one of my very favorite reads. It runs the gamut from silly/cheesy to heartfelt/tearful. But love truly is the key. Definitely worth reading from beginning to end.
Is having friends and found family a hindrance or a help. Never needs to choose the best course of action at this climax to her story (for now). Scheming, twists and turns and decent helping of love. Happy endings, we’ll take a read and see.
I have loved the wild ride that is this series and I am a little heartbroken that we’ll be leaving Never’s story.
There is so much humor and heart and growth in this series. The best ferocious main character who gathers a deliciously diverse and amazing found family for herself as she strives to make the world a better place. AND one of my all time favorite side characters, the Bone Reader, is full of intrigue and mysterious motives…
