*I had the opportunity to beta read for Laura Dunaway*

description

Aly Chase has been crushing hard on her sexy boss since well… forever. She finds Paul Pierce inspiring and hot as hell. Thing is, Allie is a good girl who would never break up a relationship, ruin the job she loves or go for what she wants.

But what if Paul starts to fall for her too….

Aly is completely passionate about her job and her boss. Paul Pierce pretty much walks on water in Allie’s eyes. Allie has the world’s greatest, hottest best friend…Ethan Baker.

Ethan is Amazeballs!! I love this guy and I think readers will too. Although he has deep feelings for Aly he supports and loves her and accepts the fact that they will only ever be friends.

But what if Aly starts seeing Ethan in a different light…

You get the gist now, Aly starts to see her hot best friend as so much more as things heat up between her and her boss and we got ourselves a LOVE TRIANGLE!!!

Up until one of our suitors screws up royally…

description

After such a catastrophic screw up can she forgive him? Can her career survive the turmoil?

”Please give me the chance to love you, to be yours. Please give us a chance.”~Paul

”I’ll always be here with you, as long as you let me. I will never love anyone else, Aly. It’s always been you.~Ethan

Will Aly ever make up her damn mind and stop crying?

Laura Dunaway’s debut novel was a good read and there will be a second book to the series. However, this book doesn’t end in a cliffhanger. Happy reading!

I so loved this book! What’s not to love about a love triangle! It’s one of my favorite things to read about! So we start out with Aly swooning hard over her boss, the handsome and rich CEO Paul Pierce. She has been his assistant for 3 years and has loved him from a far the entire time. He has a girlfriend so Aly has accepted things will never be and she just works for him. They start working on a community outreach project and things feelings and emotions start to change for Paul.

So I’m at this point... Go team Paul! What’s not to love about a hot CEO right?

Well then… enter Aly’s best friend from college, Ethan. He also works with Paul and Aly and is always there for Aly. He is so sweet and perfect and handsome in his own right. When Aly has problems, Ethan is the shoulders she leans on.

So at this point… I’m like, awh… Go team Ethan… oh wait... Paul is still the hot CEO... Go team Paul!

Aly then starts to realize she has a little more feelings for Ethan that what she originally thought. She loves Paul and has never received it back but when she is around Ethan, she feels something changing… Ethan has always made it clear that he loves Aly and would wait for her. Yup, what a guy! Go team Ethan!

Then… While working on a project together Paul finally decides to make some moves on Aly and what they share is something she has never felt with anyone. It’s hot, its passionate, its everything she has ever wanted… But then enter the girlfriend, Casey. Paul tells Aly he will break up with her and they will be together. Aly has always loved him and her heart belongs to him so she agrees… Whooohoo… go Team Paul… When it looks like all will be happy, all hell breaks loose! I swear this book has the best HE DID WHAT moment of any book I have read! Oh hell no…. Paul does something that will change their relationship forever! Paul is so on my list but there is just something about him that makes me swoon… (Call me crazy... yes I know!)

Aly is devastated! How can she get over from what Paul did to her? Can she move past it?? Can you forgive him??? Or does she belong with Ethan? She knows he loves her but can she love him back the way he deserves? I can say this book has a great HEA and leaves the door open for a second book for one of the male characters that doesn’t get the girl… Who will it be, Team Paul or Team Ethan?? Does she pick Paul, the man she has loved for 3 years and has always held her heart? Or does she pick Ethan, the equally handsome best friend that has always been there for her? You will have to read to find out!

This is one of those books that could have been an exceptional read. However, overall the prose is very formal and stilted. The basic storyline stands strong even though it begins slowly and with a little bit of a rocky start for me. Throughout the book there were typos, hit-and-miss grammar problems, some overly wordy sentence structuring, and also some wrong word choices, i.e. affect and effect. The dialogue could definitely benefit from the use of contractions to lighten up and project a more realistic feeling in the conversations.

The building relationship between Aly and Ethan seems a little off-balance. On one hand, he professes to be in love with Aly and tells her he wants a relationship with her, but he continues to date and discuss them with her freely. This didn’t jive with me. From start to finish, I always felt she loved or lusted for Paul far more than she did Ethan. Her final decision seemed rushed and prompted by the resulting and shocking game changer or what I like to call “Paul’s double sexcapade.” The "OH MY GOSH" moment was a complete surprise – but this “screwup” was well-written and the ultimate turning point in the book for me. Here is where the storyline really took off and the writing changed significantly for the better.

Aly was a bit of an iffy character. There was a lot to admire about her yet she didn’t fully command my respect nor did I feel her loyalty completely either. She was a bit wishy-washy in my opinion. I don’t have a single problem with the final decisions Aly made and felt certain they were the right ones for her. It was just how she went about getting there. I might spend some additional time giving Aly a slight makeover to strengthen her character.

I didn’t hate Paul but I couldn’t admire his tactics and playboy ways. He wasn’t very convincing in his attempts to change. Throughout the book he acted like a total jerk and didn’t seem to realize or admit his part in the messiness of the whole situation.

I really found the love triangle fascinating and intriguing. It was handled remarkably well, in my opinion. The plot really opens up and takes off in the second half. Most of my problems with the storyline are within the first half. A well-balanced blend of humor, passion, emotion, plenty of drama filled with twists and turns kept the story moving resulting in a captivating read.

The writing was good, but for me, none of the main characters held any appeal. I disliked Ally and her indecisiveness. I disliked Paul and his douche cheating ways. I found Ethan and his doormat philosophy unattractive. I was happy with her choice but I didn't really feel excited about it. I don't think I'll be picking up the next book. The storyline just wasn't for me.

I just wanna say first of all this book was AMAZING! 2 amazingly hot men fighting for a girl! who wouldn't want that for themselves?!?! The hot boss the best friend yummy. But not only that the story line was very good, I had multiple emotions while reading this book rage, hate, love, lust, sadness-- i actually teared up at parts of this book which isn't something typical of me.
If you like to ride the roller coaster of emotions like I do when you read a romance book this it totally for you! It will keep you guessing to the end on who she chooses. I will not give spoilers out here you will need to pay for the book to see what amazing things happen because I think the author deserves that! Hopefully you will all love this book as much as I did if not even more! Please make sure you leave your reviews the author's really love to see what you think good or bad, but believe me it will be good! Thanks again Laura for a great Story!

And yes 5 starts not 4.5!!!!

I had the pleasure of reading an arc version of Distorted, and all I can say is wow. This is a beautiful book from a debut author. You don't get one hot guy, you get two.

I was hooked in by the book from the beginning and stayed hooked to the end. Aly is in love with her boss Paul, yet he's never really noticed her. At least, not until now.

The problem is, her best friend Ethan has also noticed her.

Aly has to make the decision as to which man she needs to choose. Will it be the guy she's be in love with forever or will it be the guy who's been by her side through everything?

Read it and find out. You won't be disappointed.

Thank you Laura Dunaway for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Definition of Distorted:
To not truly or completely representing the facts or reality; To twist awry or out of shape; make crooked or deformed;
To give a false, perverted, or disproportionate meaning;
To not truly or completely representing the facts or reality;

Aly Chase has secretly been in love with Paul Pierce her hot boss for three years. After being depressed that he has a girlfriend and doesn’t notice her…she decides to give up on him. Aly’s best friend and co-worker Ethan has been waiting for Aly to finally get over her feelings for Paul to make his move. Ethan and Aly have been best friends since college but he secretly always wanted her. Aly, Paul and Ethan work closely together and sparks start to fly against the office walls. Out of nowhere – Paul starts to pursue Aly when he sees Ethan is interested in her. Aly never really thought of charming and hot as hell Ethan other than a friend. She has an epiphany about her feelings for Ethan and everything becomes seemly clear no longer *distorted*. Then Aly finds herself confused all over again. Paul professes his feelings for her and then they find themselves locking lips and hips. Then Mr. Too Good To Be True does something so incredibly effed up and causes irreparable damage to their budding relationship. Aly is trapped in one bitter twisted love triangle with two hot men and her career on the line.

When I started to read Distorted I wanted to drop kick Aly and all of her annoying ass kissing comments to her boss about how wonderful he was. She was like a love sick puppy dog and it bothered it me. Then DUH…I realized her compliments were really coming out of love, respect and admiration for Paul and then way he ran his company. She was just a girl in love that wouldn’t dare cross the line with her boss or disrespect his bitch girlfriend intentionally. I have to say once I figured that out I was hooked on this sweet piece of Kindle Crack. My kids ended up eating dinner at 745 (oopppsss), the house was a messy hell hole... and I couldn’t put this book down. I needed to know how this love triangle nightmare was going to play out. There were a few good twists, turns and ONWTF (OH NO WTF) moments that really kept glued to this book. I was very impressed that Distorted is Laura Dunaway’s first book. If you are in the mood for a good love triangle this is your book. No cliffhangers….but it looks like a novella from Paul’s POV is on deck next. Four Stars!

I always like to read books from new authors. Authors we have no clue about and that there has been no hype about. DISTORTED by Laura Dunaway is one such book and author.
I went into this book blind. I like not having any expectations and reading without a preconceived opinion.
Let me say that for a debut novel, this is pretty solid. There are definitely things Laura can work on for her next book but for a first book and putting herself out there, she has done a good job.
The story line itself is was good. I enjoyed the philanthropic aspect to it as it gave Distorted sincerity and warmth. This aspect was almost like a sub story that made you cheer for the underdog. You definitely wanted Mr. Halliday to come around. The plot itself was well formulated and logical.
Let’s get right to the book boys, Paul and Ethan. Both have fabulous qualities that make you swoon. One is well versed in a high profile lifestyle filled with money, power and deceptive people. You can never be sure if you’re coming or going with him. The other is down to earth, unsuspecting in his attractiveness, kind and loyal to a fault.
The ladies of Distorted--- well the antagonist, Casey is a right bitch and you so easily hate her character and have known one or two of her types in your lifetime. She is a surface beauty, conniving, dishonest and a full on bitch.
The protagonist, Aly’s heart is pulled in two directions. Her heart knows whom she wants but there are things that keep her in love limbo. Aly has a keen sense for business. She is passionate about what she believes.
Being this is Laura Dunaway’s debut novel, she is definitely finding her own niche and vibe to her writing style. Things that didn’t make Distorted a 5 star read were, there was some repetition in descriptions. The scenes were still great but towards the end of the book, I wanted to hear the passion and intensity with different words. The other thing that did not make this a 5 star read for me was I felt like I wanted more out of some of the characters. The development was great for Aly. However, with Ethan and Paul, I wanted more from them. There were times that Ethan was almost too passive. Don’t get me wrong he is still a fabulous book boyfriend to add to your list. With Paul I wanted to see more of his assertiveness and aggressiveness. He was a powerful businessman who got what he wanted. I wanted to see more of that man. Paul is all man and sexy as all get out.
The WTF moment was totally unexpected and a great base for the conflict in the story.
Distorted was a solid debut by new indie writer Laura Dunaway. I definitely feel there will be growth in her writing from book two, which will be from one of the guy's POV's. There will be a lot of story to run with in that one. I look forward to it. Distorted is an easy read and one that is great to use after a heavy read or one that leaves you with a book hangover.

*4.5 stars!!*

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. This book had one of the BEST love triangles I have ever read. Never has a book had me as confused as to what "team" I was for. I was conflicted the entire time. Even at the end I am not sure if I was entirely happy with her decision. Even though, I can see that it was the best decision for her.

Aly Chase has worked at Pierce Homes for 3 years. A job that she love, more than just the job she also has been in love with Paul Pierce her hot CEO boss for as long as she has been working there. Paul has never noticed her though. Seeing as her love will never be reciprocated, Aly decides it's time to move on with her life.

Aly's best friend since college, Ethan Baker, who also works at Pierce Homes, has been in love with Aly since college. Ethan has always been there for Aly through everything. Since deciding to try to move on from her love for Paul, Aly decides to test the waters with Ethan and finally give them a try.

After a business trip with Paul, Aly realized that maybe there could be something more with Paul after all. Something she never expected. In a moment of weakness Aly and Paul's relationship takes an unexpected turn and the events that follow have a domino effect over both of their lives.
(Serious WTF moments!!!)
At this point I was so pissed, hurt, and sad. My heart hurt and it was hard to keep reading but I needed to know the outcome.

Ethan is always there to offer his support through it all. He is so cute always so good to Aly. Paul is also there to fight for Aly.

Who will she picked? You have to read to find out. Laura takes us from one extreme emotion to the next. I didn't know who I wanted Aly to choose. I kept changing my mind back and forth the entire time. The ending is left open for one of the characters to get his own story. I can't wait to read more and see where life takes him.

I don't know where to begin with this book. I had the honor of reading Distorted and giving my honest review... which is exactly what you're always going to get from me!

This story is different than a lot of books I read- the type of relationships, friendships, & work relationships.

I can bet that everyone has had a crush on their boss or another employee, but what happens when that gets taken to another level? What happens when you take the "best friend" to the next level? This is exactly what happens to Aly.

Aly is a super smart and attractive girl (from what I gather from employees and friends,) but she doesn't see herself that way. She also crushes hard on her boss. I mean to the point she's about to lose it with the dumb ass girlfriend he's been carrying on his arm for like 3 years.

Paul is her boss... he's hot, rich, gets along great with Aly, and can't stand Ethan. There are so many attributes that he has that pull you in. He is a very caring person, especially with people in needy communities. That makes you love him, but then he makes mistakes. I just kept praying that Aly would be smarter than I was giving her credit!

Ethan, he is her best friend from college, works with her and Paul, and has been in love with her from first sight. He is everything that a girl wants. Even though Aly is in love with Pierce, he still stands by her, gives her time, and is always a perfect gentleman.

I sat down and read this book in one sitting! I couldn't put it down, and had to know what was going to happen. I just had to know if the good guy win or the rich prick!

My favorite part is how this books starts... with a definition. Distorted is to twist out of a proper or rational relation of parts; give a false account of; to cause to work in a twisted or disorderly manner; pervert ( my fav LOL) At the beginning, I didn't know how all of this would work into the book besides the obvious... title. By the end, my perspective was no longer distorted.. in fact, it was crystal clear! So if you want a crystal clear perspective on Distorted... you need to 1-click right now!

Aly Chase has feelings for her boss, Paul Pierce. Paul is in a relationship with his girlfriend, Casey. Aly's best friend, Ethan Baker, is in love with her. And, the crazy merry-go-round begins...

"Distorted" kept me reading through out the night. The main character, Aly, is smart and beautiful, with a big heart for helping others in need. The two male leads, Paul and Ethan, were both sexy and loveable. What I really liked about Laura Dunaway's debut novel was that it seemed REAL and the character's experiences felt relatable. The story had plenty of drama and turmoil, and the "incident" in Paul's office floored me. I found myself sucked into their "love triangle," wondering who was ultimately going to win Aly's heart.

Overall, "Distorted" is an excellent read!!! I rate it with 4.5 stars. I thought the story was a bit slow in the beginning, but it picked up quickly to a perfect pace. The HEA ending was fantastic, but I did find myself feeling utter sympathy for the man that Aly rejected. I am so excited that he gets his own story next and hopefully, his own HEA!

This was a really good love triangle. Aly was torn between 2 men, her boss and her best friend. I kept pulling for her to make the right decision and felt really frustrated at times. But, it was well worth the read. You could feel the hurt she experienced and the pull she had toward each of the men.

I must say I did not see that ending coming. I don't know how she was able to choose between the 2 guys. I still would not be able to, but it was nice that the book was not so predictable. I also cried my eyes out at the ending, can't wait to see the other guy find his happy ending!

Whew…I hardly know where to start. This story took you through Aly’s life – a passionate business woman with her dream job. Aly is by far a top heroin for me. She’s a well adapted and well rounded woman. We don’t get to see much of those these days so it was relief to actually fully respect the main character. Aly is one that you would want your children to aspire to be – she is driven and her passion for her job shines through in everything she does.

She’s been desperately in love with her boss, Paul for years. Paul is the typical CEO, rich, charismatic, entitled – too good looking for his own good type of character but there is so much more to him that meets the eye. He owns a company (duh) in which he rebuilds homes and neighborhoods for the less fortunate. The passion and utterly pure love that he has for his company tied with his oh so giving and compassionate nature is what sets him apart from the rest. He has his faults – no denying that! But he is a good man.

Aly’s best friend, Ethan – sigh…He is just a dreamy ball of perfection. He has been intensely in love with Aly since the first night they met and does not hide it. He is the epidemy of what little girls dream to grow up and meet and be without a doubt, be swept off their feet. He is a MAN. Someone that knows what he wants and is honest, pure, intelligent, respectful…so much more. There were times that I wanted him to be a bit more aggressive but then again, it wouldn’t be Ethan if he was.

Aly – god what I would give to be this woman. She is meat in between the two most desirable and delicious looking and tasting pieces of bread.

The whole time, I wasn’t sure what team I was on, who I wanted more…so I started thinking of a better idea…it looked a little like this:

 photo images_zpsc3edabb3.jpg

I mean, a girl can dream right?!

There is a BIG WTF MOMENT that will forever haunt me. AND I am sure it will you as well!

This is Laura Dunaway’s debut novel and I couldn’t be more in awe and proud of her.

She was one of the first girls that I met when I entered our book community, exactly a year ago today actually.
When you know the author pretty well prior to reading their novels, you have two possible scenarios when reading their work – for me at least.

First, because you know them – there are times that I can’t read the story the way it was intended – just knowing that you know that author who wrote the story can keep me from drowning myself in it and in turn, I don’t connect no matter how badly I want too. <—this happens more than you would think.

Second outcome, the writing is soooo good, so well put together – flows flawlessly, that you can’t see the first option. Feeling totally connected and immersed in the story. To me, this is what I desire and need when reading. I mean, that is the whole point of reading in the first place. If the second option happens for me, I know it was great writing.

AND IT WAS! This book was so the second option, I couldn’t put it down. I got so involved in the story. Yes, its a love triangle..but it is unlike any love triangle that I have read to date. I loved the internal conflict Aly went through – this was the ‘SOLD’ factor for me. She was real! There are a few twists and turns that keep you on your toes all the while, falling in love with the men. In the end, I am #TeamEthan all the way – but I love Paul, just not for my girl, Aly.
Needless to say, I recommend this book to the moon and back! Beautiful job to the author!

One of my girls Beta read this book for Laura and told me I must read it so I can post a review when it is our turn for the blog tour. I agreed and dived right into the book not really knowing a whole lot about it. I didn’t need to know a whole lot about it because let me tell you my girl never steers me in the wrong direction when it comes to a good book!

Laura did a good job with her debut novel. A love triangle, always gets me sucked in. I was committed to the story when I wasn’t even very far in the book. That is important to me. If I don’t feel committed it takes forever to get through a book. But if I feel connection to the characters I want to know the outcome and boy did I want to know what Aly was going to do!

Aly was passionate and loved her job. Not only did she feel that way about her job she also felt that way about her boss, Paul Pierce. A rich CEO pretty boy. What is not to love about that! But for the 3 years she had been in love with him he was clueless about her feelings. He had a girlfriend. He appreciated her but nothing more than that.

Ethan Baker Aly’s best friend since college. He is so handsome and there is just something about him that makes you want just sigh and smile! He has been in love with her since the first day he met her but he settled for the best friend roll if that was all Aly was willing to give.

As soon as Paul realizes Ethan is coming around more often it opens up feelings that Paul didn’t know existed. Jealousy rears its ugly head and Paul starts to realize he has feelings for Aly. Aly has dreamt of this day that Paul would want her but he still has a girlfriend and she is now starting to get feelings for Ethan. What will she do? What will the to men in her life do? Will they fight for her? Will they mess up their chances with her? Will they hurt her? I will tell you this there is a big OH NO HE DIDN’T moment (no no, I will not tell you which guy had that moment! Silly you will have to read it to find out!)

”Please give me the chance to love you, to be yours. Please give us a chance.”~Paul

”I’ll always be here with you, as long as you let me. I will never love anyone else, Aly. It’s always been you.~Ethan

Oh what will Aly do? One thing I will tell you is she cries A LOT!!! At one point I wanted to tell her to put her big girl panties on and suck it up! If you want to find out if she ends up putting her big girl panties on and makes a decision you will have to read Distorted!

I was very pleased to read at the end that there will be more to this story on the hot boy toy that didn’t get picked. I give this book 4 stars!

-Harper

I had the pleasure of Beta reading Distorted for Laura. And man is it a great book. It’s a fun love triangle between Aly, Ethan and Paul. Ethan being her best friend and Paul her boss. Tough, tough decision. I had a clear winner picked from the very beginning. One of these guys stole my heart and one has a total ASSHAT WTF moment. There is plenty of angst, emotion and hot guys…what more could you want in a book. Great debut novel by a lovely author. I look forward to working with you again. Everyone, do yourself a favor and one click away!!!

ARC was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review. For Jodie Rae's full review, visit http://fallinginfall.blogspot.com

I rated Distored 5 leaves!! Distorted was an emotional, roller coaster read. I rode through angst, pain, and felt the obsession that Aly had for both Paul and Ethan. The characters sucked me in and kept me in a constant state of angst! I was going crazy right alongside all three of them. So many twists and turns. I am thankful I've never been in love with two people, but that doesn't mean I don't love to read a good love triangle. Right from the start I was on a "team," rooting for 'him' throughout the whole story.

Aly and Paul, Aly and Ethan....

Ethan is great to Aly. He has been in love with Aly from the beginning of their friendship. He loved her and treated her well.

"I'll always be with you, as long as you let me. I will never love anyone else, Aly. It's always been you." -Ethan

Don’t see the problem? Well, Paul cares for her too, and Aly loves him. Paul has been her boss for three years, and she has been secretly in love with him. Furthermore, Paul is taken by a bitch of a girlfriend. After Paul and Aly go on a business trip, feelings start to surface between the two.
"Please give me the chance to love you, to be yours. Please give us a chance." -Paul

I was wondering how Aly was going to be able to choose between Ethan and Paul. I couldn't relate to the decisions that she made, so therefore, I felt like a friend watching my BFF be a complete hot mess! The choice was pretty simple for her when ‘the other guy’ makes an unforgivable mistake. I thought Aly's final decision seemed rushed and incomplete. I didn't get all the closure I wanted in the end, but that's life! We do get a preview of the next book, and I totally fist pumped when I read it!
How do you pick between those two? Do I recommend this book? Yes, without a doubt! It is worth the read. Distorted is the total package, steamy and heart-wrenching. Your emotions will be all over the place, but that is what makes a book so great!

3.5 Stars

A solid debut, a story that many readers will enjoy, especially fans of the complicated love triangle.

Angst, emotion, and drama permeate the pages of this book. Aly is faced with an extremely difficult decision. The man she has desired for sometime has finally fallen for her, but betrays her in a horrible way. She still has feelings for him but has also developed feelings for her handsome and steadfast best friend. We follow Aly as she navigates tumultuous emotional waters on her way to making her choice: a difficult love triangle and a difficult choice. I am nearly always a fan of the bad boy, the dangerous choice. But in this instance, I surprised myself and fell for the best friend.

I particularly enjoyed the philanthropic aspects of the plot. Apart from the drama of the love triangle, there is a great story there all on its own. Despite the struggles in their personal lives, the characters share a common goal of helping the less fortunate.

The story has some great moments: there’s moments of humor, warmth, and tenderness, moments of intense emotion, a shocking “h*** s**t” moment, and some very steamy scenes. I was definitely intrigued. There were times that the dialogue was a bit stilted and Aly’s character, though real and relatable, wasn’t my favorite. Overall, Distorted is a good read, an angsty love story with a satisfying finish.

“I traced my hand along his cheek, and saw the love burning in his hazel eyes. I had no doubt he meant what he said and I was upset with myself for not being able to give him what he wanted, yet. When I was around him, the electricity was so intense, so magnetic. I owed it to myself to figure out who exactly it was I wanted. The problem was, how long would that take?”

*I received a complimentary copy of the book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

I can hardly believe this was the first book author Laura Dunaway has written. I was thoroughly impressed with the unique storyline. Of course it was a romance, but there was a story within a story going on inside this book. I not only fell in love with the three main characters but also with their careers. The story of Norman and his neighborhood was touching and made me thankful for everything I have. It made my problems seem teeny tiny in comparison.

Distorted starts out as a sweet romance with a girl wanting the man she knows she can’t have. Before long, she finds herself in a love triangle with the attention of two men fighting for her heart. This might not seem like a terrible problem to have but Aly soon realizes someone is going to be heartbroken because of her decision. Both men have good hearts and complicated histories with Aly. Naturally, you will find yourself rooting for Team Ethan or Team Paul. I will admit I switched partway through the book for reasons you will soon see.

I definitely don’t want to give anything away as to which guy Aly chooses. I will say sometimes things get chosen for you with the way they continue to pan out. Thankfully Aly had made her decision before this came into play. I was so happy the author got this one right! There were a few times I was talking to myself telling Aly to just make a decision or to just spill the news! That girl found herself in some sticky situations that would be way too stressful for most to handle.

I enjoyed Distorted and was excited to see the author has another book in the works for this series. I found the characters to be believable and caring individuals. I felt Aly’s pain and heartbreak over her choices. Paul’s gigantic mistake was unforgivable in my eyes. I was pleased Aly ended up seeing this for herself. If you love angst and a back and forth romance, this is the book for you!

Distorted is the debut novel for Laura Dunaway. Laura lays the groundwork for an intriguing love triangle and one that is a definite page turner. I give this debut novel a strong 4 star rating!

Aly Chase has been the personal assistant to Paul Pierce at Pierce Homes, for three fulfilling years. This is more than just a job to Aly; she embraces every aspect and excels with public relations. I thoroughly enjoyed Aly’s strong and independent personality.

Paul Pierce is the son of the Pierce Homes founder and he currently runs company. Paul is definite swoon worthy material! His natural charisma is enchanting and it goes a long way that he really is a good person at heart.

Unbeknownst to Paul, Aly has been in love with him for three years. They work circles around each other and can almost read each other minds. After an out-of-town business trip Aly and Paul develop a romantic chemistry. IT IS HOT AND STEAMY! Just when you think they "just had the most amazing office sex", we are thrown a MAJOR game changer. Can Aly forgive and forget????

Ethan Baker is Aly’s best friend and her strong constant. He is Mr. Sex on a Stick! He has a way with the ladies but rarely dates anyone very long. Ethan has been in love with Aly since the night he met her back in college.

“I know you are confused right now, but hell yes, I love you and it feels good to finally say it.” ~ Ethan

A real love triangle forms and Aly struggles with where her heart lies. Laura does a wonder job pulling the emotions out of these characters. Will you be Team Paul or Team Ethan? Pick up Distorted TODAY and you decide!

Laura is currently working on Paul’s story. You will get a snippet of it at the end of Distorted. I can promise you that it is a heart stopper!

My favorite kinda book....ya'll know I love me a good love triangle and it's really hard for me to write a review of this book with no spoilers, because one the characters really ticked me off! Laura knows exactly what I'm talking about LOL! I had a WTH....OH NO THE FREAK he didn't moment and let me tell you, I am so glad this book went the way it did......I actually stayed up quite late finishing because I JUST HAD TO KNOW WHO Riley ends up with! I did go back and forth on my rating between a 3.5 and 4 stars, but since I ultimately couldn't put it down I went with the 4 stars.

Aly Chase is stuck between two guys who love her and she has to decide which one she wants to have a relationship with. She has Paul Pierce, the sexy, hot CEO of Pierce Homes that she has worked for three years now. He has had a steady girlfriend and she has painfully watched them together for the last couple of years. So, for those three years Aly thinks that Paul doesn't have any interest in her......well she is wrong, she quickly finds out when something changes between them! Aly also has her best friend since college, Ethan, who works at Pierce Homes as well. Ethan has always been there for Aly through thick and thin. Aly knew that Ethan had feelings for her, but never realized the extent of those feelings. When something happens with Paul, Aly sees Ethan in a whole new light. One of these characters makes a huge mistake and Aly has to decide which guy is ultimately going to win her heart?

This is a great debut novel for Laura! Distorted is full of angst, drama, love and a cast of characters some of whom you will love and some of whom you will hate ;)

Distorted review
Aly Chase is the assistant to CEO Paul Pierce of Pierce Homes, a community outreach program to help communities in need. Aly has loved Paul from afar, knowing it could never happen, because Paul has a long time girlfriend.
Ethan Barker is Aly's best-friend, who also works at Pierce Homes. Ethan has been Aly's rock, shoulder to cry on, best-friend, and is in love with her.
Aly decides that she needs to move on, and quit pining over a guy she can never have. Ethan is excited about this and thinks he finally has a chance to show Aly that he is the right man for her.
Once Ethan steps up his efforts to win Aly over, then Paul decides he wants Aly too.
Honestly this book just wasn't for me. The writing was fine and I really like the humanitarian aspect, and I loved Ethan, but I could not get on board with the story line. There was a lot of, "I don't notice you till you decide to be with someone else." There was a lot of back and forth, Paul-Ethan-no Paul -no Ethan. Then there is the big "WTH moment" where you are saying, "he did what!!!" I just couldn't understand the reasoning of the characters. Then there was the somewhat stereotypical Boss & the secretary aspect, once again couldn't get on board.
I am sure there are plenty of people that would love this book and the Paul-Aly-Ethan love triangle, and the WTH moment was not expected, but overall this just wasn't the book for me.

Distorted is Laura Dunaway’s debut novel. Aly Chase is a passionate, hard-working woman who just so happens to be head over heels in love with her boss, Paul Pierce. However, after three years and no inclination that her love will be returned, she moves on…to her best friend Ethan Baker, who also works for Pierce and has been in love with her for a while. She is physically and emotionally drained watching Paul prance around with his girlfriend that she falls for the ease of what Ethan can offer. And, then…the inevitable happens. Paul begins showing an interest in her. Can you say love triangle in the office?

Aly begins working closer with Paul, enhancing their employer/employee relationship, until he commits an awful act while she is in the same room. No spoilers here. This becomes the one obstacle in which she cannot forgive him, and technically, neither can I. He lost big points for me. Ethan remains the supportive friend throughout the ordeal. So, who does she choose?

Ms. Dunaway leads the reader through twists and turns of a hot love triangle full of angst, humor, and intrigue. Besides the obvious love triangle, there is another side to this novel that should be brought out. I loved the author’s use of philanthropy, showing Pierce Homes as a company that seeks out to help the less fortunate.

Overall, Distorted is a fun, quick read for those who enjoy a good love triangle.

I’m not a big fan of love triangles, but this book truly held my interest and kept me engaged. Throughout the story, I was very perplexed and couldn’t determine if I was Team Paul or Team Ethan.

Aly Chase has been working for Paul Pierce at Pierce Homes for 3 years. She is very much devoted to her job and she’s been in love with Paul for a while, but he’s never noticed her or given her the time or day.

Ethan Baker, Aly’s long time friend, also works at Pierce Homes and has been in love with Aly since college. In an attempt to move on from Paul, Aly decides to give Ethan and her a chance, problem is, she doesn’t think she can love him the way he loves her.

As soon as Paul gets wind that Ethan is with Aly, he begins to express his feelings for her and this completely disrupts the Aly/Ethan dynamic. Paul is whom she’s been waiting on for such a long time - problem is, Paul is still with his Girlfriend. He begins to promise Aly the world in order to give them a chance. However, Paul does something so F’n crazy that sealed the deal on whose team I was on.

This love triangle will truly make you feel like you’re on an emotional roller coaster – it’s filled with drama and lots of twists and turns. I couldn’t wait to find out who Aly was going to choose at the end.
Distorted was a great debut novel for Laura. I can’t wait to see more of her work.

Full Review posted on Book Lovin' Mamas

Laura Dunaway's first book "Distorted" is about a girl, Aly Chase, stuck between two guys, who love her and she has to decide between the two. She has the sexy, hot CEO of Pierce Homes that she has worked for three years now, Paul Pierce. He has had a steady girlfriend for those three years, and she has been forced to watch him around his girlfriend. She knows that Paul has never shown any interest to her until something changes between the two. She has no idea what to think of it. All she knows is that Paul has a girlfriend and that girlfriend already suspects that Aly may be a problem. Aly has helped Paul with several of the projects for his company, and she is passionate about her job. She also has her best friend since college, Ethan, who works at Pierce Homes as well that has feelings for Aly since the minute he saw her at the bar those years ago.

I give this book 4.5 moons and highly recommend it. Just be warned your emotions will be going through a lot in this book, and you may love Paul, or Ethan...or maybe even both. You may also want to slap around Aly sometimes. (just saying)

I was very excited to read this book and I m not dissapointed at all. Aly after many years of one side love finally got what she wanted but things were complicated.
Two sexy men all for herself seemed to much a fantast too much out of reality but every steps in this book was grounded. no rush except for the affair. But she dealt it really well. And it was all reasonable. I was happy there is a book about Paul. Is he a jerk because he is a cheater?? cheater = jerk. but I like that guy really and a lot. They could be well together as she said he had his chance before what he did with his girlfriend. It would be the same if he did her after his girlfriend. it wasnt jealousy. it was common sense. She being with than is the way it is. she would always love him and he is too. love doesnt fade away when u know. but her love for ethan is their future and many many year. what if there is Aly#2 ...but im sure paul will be happy. a good thing he broke up with casey and being true to himself. finishing it quite heartbroken. a good end for aly and ethan happy for them. they all suffered. in one point.

Ahhhhh... love triangles!

I am a sucker for a good love triangle, even though they piss me off beyond belief and I want to throw my freakin' Nook at certain parts.

This one, I must say, was done correctly. The love Aly has for both Paul and Ethan is evident, and although there were a few times that I wanted to slap Aly, I was happy with the way things turned out. I like leaving the triangle satisfied that she made the right choice, or having two overly incredible guys that the choice is a hard one to make. This one didn't leave me with a bad taste in my mouth.

Congrats, Laura on your debut. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I will be picking up the next book. The excerpt has me very intrigued. ;)

I give Distorted by Laura Dunaway 4.5 stars!!!
This was an absolute great read!! This is the perfect love triangle, I really think Paul is a douche bag!!! Does Aly get with Paul her sexy boss ( who I think is a douche bag), or does she get with her best friend Ethan ? I know the answer , but I will not tell haha , you have to read this book for your self if you want to know J I really connected with Aly , because I have been through a similar situation. Distorted is a dreamy, steamy , and an emotional read!! I give the author two thumbs up for this masterpiece!! I hope I can see more of this soon! I would really love to read from Paul’s and Ethan’s point of view , I think their point of w would be very intriguing .

I was lucky enough to Beta read this for Laura. I must say what a beautiful emotional roller coaster ride. It's everything I can ask for in a book.
You have Paul who runs Pierce Homes and he is the hot guy you can't help but fall for. You really want to hate him but you just can't.

You also have Aly who is Paul's assistant. She's always had a crush on Paul (who wouldn't)

Then you have Ethan who is Aly's best friend. Ethan is always there for Aly no matter what. He is the perfect best friend.

2 hot guys fighting for one girl. Who wouldn't want that!?
If you haven't read this book yet. Go get it or add it to your TBR list it's worth it!
