The conclusion of this epic dungeon module is nothing short of deadly. Don't expect your players to survive if you're actually taking it to them using the resources provided in a reasonably intelligent manner.

That said, I've had players sit back, sigh and say that they were glad they died when/where they did because it gave their characters' lives actual meaning. They came, they saw, and they got curb-stomped by one of the nastiest, actually accessible villains in the D&D portfolio.

Still, should they actually succeed, it makes for such an awesome stopping point that there's really no choice but to hang 'em up for those characters and start over. How can you top killing Orcus?

Five star series for me. No question.
