Warm, gorgeous and utterly lovely!
I think with covers like these, you know what you're getting when you start a book, but that doesn't detract from any of the enjoyment!
This is a 'curl up with a coffee and your kindle on a Sunday afternoon' book, and I loved every minute.
The setting of Cornwall seems to be a popular one lately, and Nash does a wonderful job of describing the area that I could visualise it all.
There is drama of course, watching how Meredith tries to find her way in her life. The lighthouse in the book was certainly appropriate for the story- I'd love to ask Kim Nash if it was intentional!
Fabulous!

Another wonderfully relaxingly enjoyable read from this author who has a way of quickly introducing the main characters, setting the scene and making you ‘feel at home’ with the book
This time we find ourselves in Cornwall with the ‘coming of age’ Meredith,it just happens to be this is her coming of age at 50, and she has done something very unlike her,she has made a rash purchase…..a lighthouse….to be her new home
We meet her new neighbours,I was outraged with DIlys at the corner shop 😊 and her, lets say, unwelcoming ways however there is more to it than meets the eye and as she sets her sights on Clem ( a local handyman ) and he sets his on hers it turns into a romantic family comedyish drama that ticks every box and left me smiling throughout…..there are serious matters dealt with mind you and the book takes unexpected turns
A fine read that makes me want to get in the car,see the lighthouse, meet the locals and definitely eat some of that yummy food that is mentioned
Loved it

Meredith Robinson has purchased a dilapidated lighthouse. One of her first problems with her new purchase is that some of her furniture won’t even fit. Secondly, it is so unfit that she has to stay at a B&B at least for a few days until she can make it habitable. Her decision may have been rash, but life had just not been what she might’ve expected. Now that she has the lighthouse, she is determined to give her life a fresh new start.

Some of the members of the small town become very invested in Meredith and her project and one of them recommends a local handyman named Clem as more than a few things need to be worked on in the lighthouse. Meredith finds herself drawn to Clem, but it doesn’t mean that things will be easy for this burgeoning relationship.

I loved this latest book by Kim Nash. It was great to see Meredith as a bit of an older woman in a delightful romance. While this book had a community vibe to it, it took time for Meredith to fit in. That only increased the readability of this book because she was new to the town, but it it was enjoyable to see how she became part of what really was a tight-knit community. If you want a book that is an easy and warm read, one that will leave you smiling, grab a cup of tea and put your feet up because you will be in for a treat.

Many thanks to Boldwood Books and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

There are so many things to love about this book!

Firstly, the setting. Kim Nash’s description of Cornwall, the sea and the lighthouse itself is so beautiful that I really want to go there!

Meredith is also a brilliant character, such a positive, uplifting and also funny woman. Alongside her growing feelings for Clem, the way she built relationships with the other people in the village, was perhaps my favourite part.

And this the thing I like best about Kim Nash‘s novels: the sense of community. She brings together a cast of characters, of different generations, in such a beautiful way. There were many wise words that I highlighted on my kindle, too.

I devoured this book like one of the cakes that Gemma brings Meredith from the bakery. Loved it.

Every book that I’ve read by Kim Nash has been an absolute joy to read, so I knew when I started Hopeful Hearts at the Cornish Cove I was in for a real treat. This book was such a wonderful read with fabulous characters. This author really knows how to make a book come alive and when reading it you feel you are actually there in Cornwall and are living the story. There wasn’t one single thing I didn’t like about this book, It’s like a big warm hug wrapped in a book.

What a totally gorgeous read – and a book hug I really needed after a bit of a stressy week, an escape to the seaside at lovely Driftwood Bay, enveloped by the warmth of Meredith’s new friendships, loving the chemistry between her and wonderful handyman Clem, caught up in the work needed at her new home, and hoping for the happiest of endings. Read in one sitting – and I really adored it.

But things don’t start well – a few glasses of wine too many, and Meredith finds that she’s bought a lighthouse she hasn’t even seen. The estate agent promised it was part renovated, but arriving with her furniture – which the removers can’t even get in through the door – it looks nothing like the pictures he shared and needs a tremendous amount more work. Gemma from the bakery comes to the rescue with tea and cake, and her sister Lucy provides a bed for a few nights at her B&B – and an introduction to handyman Clem, easy on the eye and good with his hands, but who she had already had an unfortunate run-in with when doing a food shop when she first arrived. But he is just the person she needs, full of ideas, hard working, building furniture to fit the lighthouse’s curved walls – and slowly turning the lighthouse into the home she hoped it could be. And it turns out he’s fun to have around too – laughs aplenty, and (although she’s really not looking for love) the real possibility that their easy friendship might turn into something more.

And on the friendship side, her life is also rather brightened by the elderly Vi and her over-exuberant labrador Gladys – with the threat hanging over her of needing to rehome her dog and move into care, she’s delighted when Meredith offers to take on the daily walks. And Vi and Meredith prove good for each other too – Vi takes the place of the grandmother Meredith loved and lost, providing emotional support and copious cups of tea, while Meredith makes it her mission to help her with her mobility so she can enjoy the village’s social life again. The schedule of work on the lighthouse is rather driven by the imminent arrival of Meredith’s mother for a visit – one she rather dreads, always a difficult relationship, and one that has damaged her confidence for most of her life.

Enough – I’m telling you the whole story, and I really mustn’t. The author really does have such a wonderful touch with relationships – the friendships she makes from her arrival, the continuing support of her long-standing friend Gabby, and her relationship with the lovely Clem really warm the cockles of your heart, and it’s lovely to watch Meredith becoming stronger and more self sufficient as her confidence and sense of belonging grows. But not everyone is welcoming – her visits to the village shop and the hostility of its owner become a regular challenge, and it turns out that there may be a few secrets standing in the way of her happy ending. And that visit from her mother? All done with the perfect emotional touch, the many issues involved really sensitively handled.

The whole story is quite simply told – that sounds almost rude, but all I mean is that the story is told only from Meredith’s perspective, and in her distinctive first person voice, and it works just perfectly. As a reader, you experience the surprises and occasional setbacks along with her, entirely in her corner, your affection for her steadily growing. And what started as a bit of a mistake might just turn out to be the best decision she ever made – as she sits on the lighthouse’s balcony and looks out across the waves (the descriptions are superb, and the author really brings the whole setting to life), you’ll have a tear in your eye too at the real possibility of a happy future.

This was such a lovely read, filled with characters I really took to my heart – and I’ll really look forward to enjoying many more visits to Driftwood Bay. Highly recommended by me!

This book grabbed my attention from the start as we discover that Meredith has drunkenly purchased a lighthouse without seeing it in person. I mean, who does that?! When she arrives at Driftwood Bay, the lighthouse is very far from the estate agent’s description and it nearly breaks Meredith with all the work that needs doing to it. Except, with the help of the local handyman, Clem, she soon creates the perfect home in a wonderful setting. Will she stay or will she sell it and move on again? After all, as the estate agent reminds her, she will get her investment back – and more – or will Driftwood Bay lure Meredith to put roots down in this idyllic seaside town?

However, after the initial buzz and wonderment about Meredith’s actions, I soon found my interest in the story waning. It didn’t feel too dissimilar to other seaside stories about fresh starts, except some areas could have been developed further. For example, I really would have liked the story to show more about Meredith’s life before the move, before the sale of the lighthouse, just so I could get a better understanding of what makes this middle-aged woman tick. The community around Driftwood Bay seem pleasant enough but there wasn’t a spark that made any character particularly stand out – with the exception of Vi.

Meredith sort of “adopts” Vi, an elderly woman who struggles to get out and about. Meredith starts walking Vi’s dog, and this helps Meredith meet more people around Driftwood Bay. But it was the endearing relationship that builds up between these women that I found most heart-warming, like a mother-daughter connection. Meredith turns to Vi when things start to break down with her and Clem, and I really liked the spirit that Vi demonstrates when it comes to increasing her walking again. This was my favourite element of the story.

Whilst this didn’t set me on fire with its originality, it was still an enjoyable book to read. Easy going, you could predict how the story would develop but I did like how Russell became entangled in Meredith’s life. I was intrigued by some of the other satellite characters, whom I assume will feature later in the series. There are some stereotypical personalities, but I think this added to the genre of the book.

I’m going to continue with this series at some point as I imagine I will settle more into it as the stories progress. Maybe it was because the protagonist was a fair bit older than myself and I struggled to relate to her, I found the plot could have been a bit more original. However, if you are after an easy read at a busy time of year, this is the ideal candidate.

With thanks to Boldwood books and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Meredith Robinson is nearly fifty years old and has just bought a lighthouse. She’s been living with her best friend Gabby for the past year, but moves three hundred miles away from the Midlands into her new property which is in Driftwood Bay, Cornwall.
But while Driftwood Bay Lighthouse maybe isn’t quite how Meredith expected it to be, she makes friends straight away with villagers Gemma (who owns the bakery and café) and her sister Lucy (who owns the B&B). Lucy suggests she might need help from Clement ‘Clem’ Penrose to sort out the lighthouse, as he’s a carpenter and general handyman. Oh and absolutely gorgeous and sexy and almost a decade younger than Meredith… whit whoo!
I was into the story straight away from the first page. Well, who wouldn’t be? You want to know more about Meredith and why she’s bought a lighthouse and what’s going to happen. The chapters are a really good size too, so you keep saying “Oh I’ll just read one more” and you read several.
Clem is rather lovely and I liked the fact that he was younger than Meredith, but not too much younger as she’s nearly fifty and he’s forty. I’m 53 and could see myself going out with someone in their forties, but not in their thirties. I also do relate more to books where the main character is around my age, than some size eight romantic heroine in their twenties.
Kim Nash has a wonderfully natural writing style. I can hear her voice coming across so well and her sense of humour in the pages in brilliant. The setting is great and everything is described so beautifully that I could easily picture it all. There are many great characters too. I loved Violet and my own Nanna was called that, which made her even more lovely. Vi is absolutely hilarious too, I loved her cheeky comments. And Gladys, awwww! Not all the characters are sweethearts though, some are absolutely vile and you want to keep reading to find out why.
Overall, it’s hard to find fault with this book. It’s an absolute dream of a story, with wonderful believable characters and a gorgeous setting. I hope there are more books to come in this series, because I know I’m going to miss the area and everyone who lives in it.

It's been a while since I stepped into the gorgeous worlds created by Kim Nash and her characters, and I truly enjoyed this foray to the Cornish coast!
Meredith made a bit of a drunken decision to purchase a lighthouse, miles away from the rest of her life, to have a fresh start, a project and to put some distance between her and her old life that, apart from her best friend, seemed to have begun to stagnate.
Well, what can I say? There are always dubious purchases made with the aid of alcohol when you aren't feeling yourself, and when she arrives at her new, unviewed, apart from some stylised photos, home, she is in for a shock.
And the shocks don't start there, but at the local supermarket, where she encounters rude locals that get her back up from the off.
I will not go into the story, as what would be the point of you reading it if I was just to regurgitate it here, but I will say that you won't want to put it down once you start reading!
Meredith is a character who will resonate with many women, especially those of a certain age. She had a fire in her belly that was dampened by her previous life, but the sea and sea air might have just reignited it rather than put it out completely!
There are many characters to keep you wanting to read, not least Vi, who I think is an amazing woman. What a character! And her dog, Gladys, is just adorable!
Meredith has old friends, but the new ones she makes as she begins what feels like a thankless task of renovating and restoring her purchase are a choice bunch.
But there are always that core of locals who 'hate' newcomers. She has her work cut out, I'll tell you.
And, of course, there's Clem... A brooding, moody man who ends up rather helpful in many ways. But will he be the one who helps her realise she is not just a middle-aged woman undeserving of a fresh start romantically as well as generally?
The restoration of the lighthouse was fascinating to read about, too, and just reading the descriptions makes me want to go and stay in one right now!
A wonderful read from start to finish!

I loved the idea of this so much, but reading it was even more of a delight, I loved this with my whole heart, who wouldn’t want to take on a lighthouse and restore it, never mind a Cornish lighthouse, which is even better.

This is a wonderful tale with lovely , relatable and realistic characters , obviously some aren’t perfect or lovely but that’s life, Meredith and Clem are adorable, I love their chemistry and humour. Clem is just perfect, gorgeous, reliable, helpful, I could go on for ages about him. All the characters that make this special community and bring such joy to Meredith’s life are lovely.

It helps that Kim writes so beautifully to construct these characters, describe the scenery and beautiful lighthouse that you could be friends with these people and see every scene, walkthrough the lighthouse. As well as this she fills the story with sweet and gentle humour. I can put my hand on my heart and say if you love romance, Cornwall or community you will love this.

The cover is lovely and, I felt, set the scene for the book.

It was great reading about slightly older women in books as you don't usually find that. I felt the characters were all well written, as were the descriptions of the setting.

The book had plenty going on especially with Meredith trying to find her feet again after buying a lighthouseand relocating. Meredith came across as such a lovely person. The sense of friendship and close knit community also shone through making this a wonderful book to cosy up with. Although this was a nice easy read, more serious topics were touched upon which added some drama and heartbreak.

This is the first of this author's books I've read but l will certainly be looking out for her others.

Thank you Rachels Random Resources, Boldwood Books, Netgalley and the author for my gifted copy in exchange for my honest review.

I listened the first 3 hours pretty much in 1 go, and unfortunately after that it was just snippets. Except the last 80 minutes I could listen to it in 1 go again. The middle part did become less enjoyable for me mainly because of this I think. So I am trying to not let it interfere with my rating.
Overall this was a quick and easy story. Fast paced and not overly written with to many detail. If you want a quick read (or listen), an easy story with a happy ever after, this is the book to go to.
Was it amazing writing? No. It's pretty much like every other chicklit romance novel. But it had nice characters, and I liked that the main character wasn't 22 or something like that, but actually nearly 50.
As my own age goes up, I notice I like reading books about people that are a bit older too, and maybe even more so.

That's it, I want to go a buy a lighthouse and live the rest of my life on a beach.

I'm a huge fan of Kim's and there hasn't been a book I've not loved and this was exactly the same. I loved this from cover to cover.

I enjoy books involving restorations and I could picture evert single step in doing up this lighthouse. I loved Meredith and her love of helping people. I can't wait to read what is next from Kim.

This was a great romance novel with a balance of story line, character development and spicy scenes that were believable.

The story line featuring a 50ish year old women going through massive life changes and finding herself translates across age brackets and is easily relatable to most. The ending was satisfying but also left me wanting more and to see where the author might take other characters if she were to turn it into a series which the small town vibes would lend it to.

Definitely recommend this to any romance lover!

If you have a look at my past and future list of contemporary romance reads, you will see that I have a strong tendency to read books set in France and, more lately, Italy. So when this tour was announced I thought I would expand my horizons and read something set in Cornwall in the UK instead. The other reason was there was much excitement at the announcement of this tour and my FOMO kicked in, so I volunteered. And I am glad that I did

I am not sure I have done a lot of internet shopping while I was somewhat tipsy. If I did, I am not sure that I would buy a new house, or more specifically a lighthouse that needs some work to make it into a house. I do understand the attraction of living right on the coast in a historical lighthouse, but the thought of those steps would be enough to put me off. But it doesn't put off Meredith Robinson. Once she gets over the shock, she decides that a new start is exactly what she needs.

However, Mere was in for more shocks when she arrives in the small village of Driftwood Bay. Firstly, there is the surly man who steals her car park, and then a very frosty reception from the locals. But the biggest shock is the condition of the lighthouse. Whilst the ad had said that there would be some work required that is a big different from the completely uninhabitable condition that it is in.Luckily for him, the real estate agent seems to have disappeared completely. Given the situation, Mere isn't sure that Driftwood Bay is the place for her in the long term, but it is her place for now, and she is going to make the best of it.

Imagine waking up to find, in a drunken moment you’d bought a lighthouse of all things. I had a friend once that bought a hostess trolley whilst drunk - you guessed it, when it arrived it was for a dolls house, how we laughed!!! Meredith had been living with her childhood, best friend Gabby for the past 12 months since getting a divorce from her husband, life was changing for best friend and Meredith needed to move out to give her space so decided to move to Cornwall and live in the accidental purchase. She thought that it would be the perfect fresh start and just what she needed.

Meredith had surprised not just herself, but her friends too when she packed up and upped sticks. What couldn’t be more idyllic than living near the beach she thought? However, her first impressions of the idyllic coastal Cornish town were watered down, when after the journey from hell, her first encounters with the locals were less than pleasant and her beloved furniture that had been in storage for a year wouldn’t fit through the door of the lighthouse - what had she done?! To top it off she’d clearly been sold a pup! To say the inside of the lighthouse was less than pleasant would be an understatement, filthy, crumbling and damp smelling - what had she done?

Fortunately, for Meredith, she found that not all the villagers were stand-offish and rude. Gemma, the owner of the local cafe/bakery waltzed into the lighthouse bearing tea and cake at just the right moment - sing singing a welcome to Cornwall. They hit it off instantly and this set in motion a string of events that had me oohing, ahhing, aching laughing and cringing in equal measures.

The pages of this delightful story are peppered with humour and often laugh out loud one liners - as well as what you always find in a Kim Nash book, a hearty helping of truth and reality. I absolutely loved it. Strong friendships both old and new. Kim Nash has woven the local characters into this story in such a way that I found myself jumping up, wanting to stick my oar in and get in Merediths or ‘Mere’ as the local carpenter/odd job man calls her corner. I might have frantically searched Rightmove too - I want to move to Cornwall and make friends with everyone too but most of all i want to live in a lighthouse.

I have loved all of Kim’s books but this one is another level, her best yet which I read in one sitting, barely moving position - my coffee going cold on the side. Thank you for this breath of fresh air, just what the doctor ordered on a miserable Friday evening. This was a truly, heart warming story that wove a lot of sunshine into my heart. Through Meredith, Kim portrayed that kindness, openness and honesty win the day. This was a positive feel good book that I’m glad I had the opportunity to read, in a busy world a perfect little bit of escapism.

What an absolute delight this story was from this author. Both my Mum and I are huge fans of Kim's books and we are always eager to read her latest ones. As I was reading about Meredith's move to Cornwall and how local handyman Clem was helping her with renovations, I was chuckling at some of the scenes and comments. What made this even more amusing was that I know when Mum read this book she will be chuckling away the same as I did :)

Meredith has moved, from "up country" and is now down here in Cornwall (my neck of the woods). She has been spontaneous and bought a lighthouse, well this is what some people do when they have had the odd vino! I know I would love the idea of living in a lighthouse, but I also know that I would soon curse the steps! Meredith however is determined to make a go of this new home, which turns out to be more than she had bargained for when she actually arrives and realises just how much she will have to do just to get it clean.

While she comes to terms with what could be a disastrous decision she is given a lifeline in the form of Clem. He has been recommended to her by some of the friendlier locals to help with some of the renovations and repairs.

There are some great chuckle-worthy scenes in this story and they come from various characters. Meredith does have a memorable moment in the builder's merchants that made me laugh, it is this sort of humour that I like. A bit risque, quirky and just good all-around banter. Every time the author seems to get the note just right in her novels and they add to the feel of the story.

There is a small community and this makes the characters easy to remember, and not all are welcoming and there is the odd one who is a bit smarmy. I do like the mix of characters and each has their own personality that shines through. Getting this across in a 270-page book is great.

Along with the howlers, there are some wonderful heartwarming moments. If you have read any of this author's books before you will know there will be something a little more serious. Again, she does this so well in so few pages but the story never felt rushed. I just wanted the book to keep going if I am being completely honest.

This is another fabulous story about starting afresh and finding your feet when you are a little bit older but still young enough to enjoy and try new things. I haven't even mentioned the romance in this story! This is a rom-com and so the romance is there, fleeting and tentative but sometimes it is better to be friends... isn't it?

This is one for fans of contemporary fiction, romance, and finding a place that feels right. Another wonderful book and one I would definitely recommend.

KIM NASH: HOPEFUL HEARTS AT THE CORNISH COVE.

What do you do when you are heading face first towards fifty, you’re recently divorced and bunking down in your best friend’s spare room. Well obviously, you have a few too many glasses of adult pop and you buy yourself a Cornish lighthouse.

As Meredith arrives to start her new life, she encounters a few unfriendly locals in the village of Driftwood Bay. To add insult to injury, when she arrives at her lighthouse, it isn’t quite what she’d hoped for - even her furniture won’t fit.

Luckily there are a couple of friendly locals who do reach out to help Meredith.

With a visit from her mother looming, the pressure is on for Meredith to tidy up the lighthouse.
She enlists the help of Clem, the local hottie. Despite a rocky start, they soon find they enjoy each other’s company. However it appears that Clem already has commitments elsewhere.

Once the lighthouse is smartened up and looking good, Meredith has a choice to make. Should she stay or should she sell up and go?

The story itself is easy to get into and has a warm feel from the start.

There are some fantastic characters. Gemma the local bakery owner is quick to befriend Meredith and even gives her new friend free cake!!! I need a baker buddy in my life. 🧁
Vi, the elderly lady who Meredith befriends in the village is an absolute hoot. Vi’s Labrador, Gladys, is a pooch of loose morals, but together they make a brilliant pair.
Clem is tall, gorgeous and an all round good guy (most of the time). He definitely added something special to the story.
I liked Meredith a lot. She is a woman of a certain age, who has a kind heart and a liking for cut off denim shorts. It’s always nice to read positive main characters who are a little more mature but still vibrant and alive.

I’ve enjoyed a number of books written by Kim Nash. And to be fair, her writing seems to get better with every book.
I love her turn of phrase. The way she writes is relatable and realistic. Most of all, her humour is hilarious and made me laugh out loud on a number of occasions throughout the story.

Hopeful Hearts At The Cornish Cove is a charming tale. I listened to the audio version and with the help of a sleepless night, I listened to the whole thing in one go.
With regards to the audio version, I should say that Laura Kirman is a fantastic narrator and I’ve enjoyed many books read by her.

If you enjoy books by Milly Johnson or Joanna Bolouri, I think Kim Nash will appeal to you.

I hope this book won’t be a one-off. I’m sure Driftwood Bay has more tales to tell.

Hopeful Hearts At The Cornish Cove get’s five stars from me. It made me laugh, it made me boo at the baddies and most of all left me with a big smile on my face.

Can a lighthouse bring light in more than just one aspect?

Even if her life is rather dull, Meredith never does something spontaneous. She’s stuck at her job, she is nearly fifty and het love life is non – existing.
Obviously, surfing the internet with a bottle of wine is never a good idea, especially when Meredith realizes the next morning that she has bought an actual lighthouse in Cornwall.
Even if the locals aren’t welcoming her with open arms, she is determined to turn the lighthouse into a home, despite it needing more fixing up than expected.
With the help of local handyman Clem, she starts to turn the place for the better. And it’s not only the house itself that is starting to make Meredith more at home.
But when Clem’s secret is out, will their bond be already strong enough?

I have not read all the books this author has written, but what I have read always put a smile on my face. So when I started to read this new story, I was both anxiously curious to see if this one would have the same effect on my mood.

At first I wasn’t that sure, as our lovely main character Meredith is a bit older than myself and we didn’t have that much in common.
However, me of little faith! It’s not because a character doesn’t have a lot in common that I cannot enjoy getting to know her better!
I felt sorry for Meredith on several levels. Her job wasn’t the most exciting one, her mother won’t ever win any awards for her parenting.
However, even if Meredith may not have an exhilarating life, she has a best friend that supports her in every way, even if their relationship is one that you need to get used to at the start 😊.

Not being a big drinker myself (I can hardly digest two glasses of wine, so that you get an idea of my drinking abilities), I was a bit flabbergasted to read that Meredith managed to buy not just a house, but an actual lighthouse after an evening of drinking!
Yet I also admired her as she didn’t pull back, but saw it more as some kind of sign to take that step and start all over again.

However, what I liked the most about Meredith is her actual behaviour. Yes yes, rather quickly she clashes with a local over a parking spot. But after this episode we see how she keeps on keeping her head high. No matter how obnoxious or even rude people are, she is killing them all with kindness! And that for sure put several smiles on my face, reading how those unkind people didn’t know how to respond! Even at moments where I wouldn’t be able to keep my calm, she keeps on giving the benefit of the doubt, even if she feels that things don’t match up.

It truly warmed my heart to see how Meredith makes efforts all around, to people she has barely met, just out of the kindness of her heart (even if she claims it’s also for her own benefit).
And reading how she and Clem, despite their initial clashing, slowly and unintentionally are growing closer, was one of the sweetest things!
Seeing the both of them together, at ease with each other, trusting each other gave me many ‘aaaaw’ moments.

Obviously there has to be some kind of struggle somewhere in this story, and while many things point into a certain direction, I knew immediately, without any doubt that things would turn out to be completely different than the author wants to make us believe for a moment.

This book for sure was easy and truly enjoyable to read. The author shows us that not only it’s never to start all over again, but also that we can find a place to call home in the weirdest places, even in a lighthouse.
We also see that kindness will get rewarded, and that it will be the thing that will make people like you and allow you into their close community.
And that love doesn’t look at age or at age difference, but at who is right for you. And you can have an inkling at who that is, by seeing the efforts they are ready to put while moving into a lighthouse!

Who hasn’t dreamed of living in a lighthouse? I know I have many a time. The only downside to it would be all the steps! I would need to have a lift for going upstairs lol.

I wasn’t sure if Meredith was mad or not to have bought a lighthouse more so with not seeing it first. When she arrives in the small village, she doesn’t get the warmest of welcomes with not being local and the lighthouse is a bigger project than she first thought. A lesser person would have probably given in and sold up and moved on.

There are lots of lovely characters who befriend Meredith and have her start to feel welcome and see herself staying there. The author writes the most fabulous descriptions of the surrounding areas and I especially loved the kind of bric a brac shop that I could see myself spending hours in with all the great finds that Meredith came away with. I found myself dreaming about what sort of things I would buy and how I would decorate the lighthouse and have to say Meredith’s design skills are way better than mine! It was like watching an episode of Grand Designs seeing it all come together. Of course credit also goes to the gorgeous Clem’s handy skills who will certainly set readers hearts racing!

Hopeful Hearts at the Cornish Cove is a delightful read that transported me to Cornwall with picturesque views, sandy beaches and the smell of the sea. You know that feeling that the sun gives you when you feel it warm on your skin? This is what this novel gave me. It made me feel all warm and up beat. Along with a heartwarming storyline, there are plenty of laugh out loud moments that I have started to expect from this author. I always come away from one of her books like I have just spent the most wonderful time with good friends as that’s how the characters end up feeling by the time I have reached the end of the book. A gorgeous, uplifting and fun read that everyone needs in their life!

How often do you get drunk and make an impulse purchase as a result? Ok how many of you have accidentally bought a lighthouse, at the other end of the country to where you live, having never seen it before in real life?

I would be utterly shocked if you have done, I can't say the thought has ever crossed my mind, but yet that is exactly what Meredith does, and as an opening to a book it's rather memorable.

And what a wonderful community Meredith ends up being part of, well at least her initial circle of new friends, although that can't be said of everyone in the town.

I totally fell for Clem, it was obvious he might be hiding things, one of which I guessed, but from his initial meetings with Meredith, I was sure he was going to be important. And so he was, in so many ways.

I also loved getting to know Violet and Gladys and enjoyed the way that Meredith despite having met Violet initially was happy to come up with a way for her to keep her beloved pet. And thus walking on the beach with Gladys was a regular occurence, and included some scenes that made me laugh.

And then there is the estate agent that sold the lighthouse to Meredith and is initially then uncontactable. Despite some of his banter, I never warmed to him and as a reader I always need to trust my instincts about characters!

And what of this lighthouse I mentioned? It was so incredibly well described at all times, that I could see the renovations come to life so very clearly.

With family issues to be resolved, and a brave main character starting over in a new place, and trying to be adventurous, we are treated to a lovely novel.

This was highly enjoyable and I was really entertained by the story. After having waited so long since my last Kim Nash novel, I really hope the wait for my next is a lot shorter.

Thank you to Boldwood Books and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

Wow, what can I say? I absolutely loved and adored this sweet, funny, cute, heartwarming, uplifting and delightful book! It is like a rainbow of mesmerising and inspiring energies caught up in words, which left me feeling happy, joyful, relaxed and uplifted, with a warm feeling in my heart. It was just pure bliss! It was so good that I read it all in one go as soon as I got it, because it just hooked me in, and then I couldn't put it down. I laughed out loud so much at the hilarious writing in the book. It is the funniest book I have ever read.

The story is about Meredith, who is nearly fifty years old, and is looking for a change in her life. On impulse, she buys a lighthouse in Cornwall with savings she inherited, which brings her more than she ever thought she could have. When she moves to her new local area, there are a few people who are not happy to see her, as well as lovely people who welcome and befriend her. One of these, a man called Clem, earns a special place in her heart after they form a wonderful friendship. Of course, there are a few rocky patches with Clem, getting the lighthouse up and running, and with the local villagers, but Meredith powers through, and tries to achieve her goals. There can't be a rainbow without a little bit of a storm, after all.

This is a really wonderful and amazing book, which has a fantastic catchy name, a beautiful vibrant cover, and a magical story set in a lovely place. What more could you want in a book? If you are looking for an easy to read romantic book which will fill you with sunshine and a warm glow, then this is the book for you! This is easily the best book I have read this year! Highly recommended!

Many thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this book.

New beginnings, new friends, and a new outlook on life! What a charming and sweet book this was.

Meredith makes an impulsive purchase one night- a lighthouse! This will give her a chance to make changes in her life. She is nearing 50, is not in a relationship, and needs a home. When she arrives in town, she is not welcomed with open arms, in fact the townspeople are downright rude and frosty. Plus, the lighthouse is not as promised by the real estate agent.

Determined to make her now lighthouse a home, she hires a local handyman Clem, the man she had a verbal tiff with upon her arrival. They put that behind them and get down to the business of making her home habitable.

As her home begins to look better, the townspeople begin to defrost and become more welcoming. Meredith begins to think that living here won’t be so bad after all.

This was such a charming and sweet book. I loved Meredith's quiet determination and her thoughts about situations she was in. Her self-talk was relatable and endearing. I liked how she won the town over and the community began to accept her. There is also the right amount of angst in this book to keep me on my toes and keeping my fingers crossed Cornwall's newest resident.

This was my first book by Kim Nash and will not be my last. She has created both likeable and unlikeable characters who made this book interesting and entertaining. Meredith won me over almost instantly and I rooted for her the whole way. She put a smile on my face and had me chuckling from time to time.

Charming and endearing.

Hopeful Hearts at the Cornish Cove is packed full of romance and fun. Kim Nash writes about believable characters who capture my imagination, and Meredith is a perfect example. I’ve never visited Cornwall, except via many books, and yet I was easily able to conjure up a clear image of the village and the lighthouse.
Meredith has been through life’s proverbial mill, and yet she still remains positive, and impulsively buying a windmill seems self-prophetic. Despite discovering that she may have bitten off more than she can chew, she is determined to turn the windmill into a home. Spurred on by the spectre of her Mum coming to visit, she enrols the help of local handyman, Clem, to assist with the renovations.
There are some wonderful characters to discover and some that are less than wonderful, but they all add together to create a very special community that could provide Meredith with exactly what she didn’t realise she needed.
I can’t pick out a single favourite character, except for the delicious Clem, who I liked more than the others. Perhaps, if pushed, I would say it was a tie between sisters Gemma and Lucy, and Violet with her Labrador, Gladys. Both sets of characters brought a special amount of joy to Meredith’s new life.
Of course, Kim writes with a gifted hand when it comes to gentle humour, and I had plenty of reasons to smile and more than a few chuckles as I followed Meredith’s adventures. A standout part would have to be her initial meeting with Clem and then her subsequent embarrassment at realising how much she was going to need him.
I can wholeheartedly say that I loved this book, and I’ve already recommended it to a few friends. Kim Nash has written another winner and I hope you love escaping to this lovely Cornish lighthouse.

It has been a year since her divorce, working a dead and job and nearing Fifty Meredith decides to that she needs to make a fresh start and with some money she inherited from her grandmother she decides to buy a lighthouse in Cornwall when she sees the pictures online on a whim.
When she arrives in Cornwall, she is excited to meet new people and make some new friends but the first person she comes across seems to be very rude and when she goes to the local shop, she gets the same reception.
When she arrives at the lighthouse. She realises that the lighthouse is inhabitable and not like the pictures shown. So, she employees a handyman and when they turn up, they have already met. The man that she first met when she arrived, and his name is Clem. As they renovate the light house, they soon become friends and they also have a attraction between each other. But Clem is at least ten years younger, and she is not looking for love anyway she keeps telling herself. But when Meredith overhears a conversation between Clem and a much younger woman, Meredith not only thinks that their friendship is in jeopardy, but also her feelings for him too.
Thank you Boldwood Books for a copy of Kim Nash’s latest offering. I have heard good things about the author’s book and couldn’t wait to get stuck in. I found this to be a delightful, heart-warming read. I couldn’t get enough of it. I loved it. 5 stars from me.

I am primarly a crime and thriller reader but I adore this genre as its more escapist and light hearted and although I don’t read this genre often I certainly have my favourites and go-to authors. For more than 25 years I have relied upon authors such as Carol Matthews, Jill Mansell and more recently authors such as Paige Toon and Jo Thomas. However, Kim Nash is now pretty much the top of that list now. Her books are guaranteed feel good reads and somehow I ending up falling in love with the places she writes about and the people living there. Hopeful Hearts is absolutely no different.

Meredith is your average and ordinary woman but as she approaches fifty she makes one rather rash and impulsive decision which sort of changes everything for her. She brought a lighthouse without even seeing it and it means a move down to Cornwall. First off I really loved Meredith, I think as a fourty something woman I am sick of reading about women in their twenties! It is so refreshing to see women my own sort of age as the lead in a book. Meredith is very likeable but as soon as she moves down to Cornwall you just know she has made a mistake.

Once she arrives a whole manner of things of happen from having a disagreement with a local as soon as she gets there to realising she has to work on this lighthouse from top to bottom. The characters that make appearances throughout this book from Clem who ends up renovating the lighthouse with Meredith, to Lucy and Gemma, to Violet….all the locals make an appearance and they all form part of this amazing story set in Driftwood Bay.

I was completely engrossed with the story and characters and soon realised that I had read the book in a day and a half and felt bereft. Thankfully I had book two ready to go also set in Driftwood Bay and featuring characters we have already met (thank goodness). I really can’t explain why but these books are a sheer joy to read and just have that magic touch which enable you as the reader to completely lose yourself. I absolutely LOVED this book and would highly reccomend it to anybody.

Hopeful Hearts at the Cornish Cove by Kim Nash

I received an advance review copy for free thanks to Rachel's Random Resources and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Blurb

Meredith's life is at a standstill. She's stuck in a dead-end job, approaching fifty, and her dating life is a string of disasters. But one evening, while browsing the internet, she sees an ad for a lighthouse, and in a moment of impulsiveness, she makes a ridiculous bid for it.

With the help of local handyman Clem, she sets about renovating. And as they work together, a bond begins to form. But when Meredith finds out that Clem is keeping a secret from her, it changes everything. Will they find a way to build something more meaningful together?

My Opinion

I was first drawn in by the lovely cover, my attention was grabbed upon discovering that Meredith had just bought a lighthouse and was moving to Cornwall. This was a lovely, relaxing read and for me it was a great introduction to Kim Nash. Kim Nash has written a lovely book about starting fresh, and has not shied away from writing about how it can be difficult moving to a new place where you don't know anyone. A wonderful book that will appeal to fans of romance and contemporary fiction.

Hopeful Hearts at the Cornish Cove is a fabulous story of new beginnings, the beauty of kindness and the joy of friendships between people of all ages. I loved reading Meredith’s story.

Meredith finds herself purchasing a lighthouse sight unseen, a doer upper project but habitable from the offset. Unfortunately when she arrives in beautiful Driftwood Bay she discovers habitable was not the right description. She soon finds out how close knitted the local community is. She gets mixed messages not everyone is welcoming. However, she makes friends and allies. She spreads her own kind of happiness & kindness wherever she goes. The book is a romance but friendships figure prominently. The banter and double entendres from some of the males in the book are amusing and add to the enjoyment of the storylines.

It really was refreshing to read a story with a main character over 45! Reading the lovely story lifted my soul. I definitely recommend it.

With many thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for a digital ARC of the book.
