'What about your friends...will they stand their ground...will they let you down again...'
The Conglomerate features three friends that have bound their friendship, talents and finances to build a lucrative business...together. The strongest of the three, Joey, is focused on making sure the business grows and securing her family's future financially. While her hubby, Zay, plays the background, he's also amassing a fortune...on the down low. Cee is the sytlist and she and her husband Petey have been together for a lifetime with as slew os children as proof. Now Evan...this chick is the 'it' girl. She is a party planner and for some strange reason ish is always popping off around her.
Danielle Santiago has strutted back on stage in all of the fabulosity that is attached to her name, yes she mos def has her very own brand. Her latest contribution to the game stays true to it because she is by no means NEW to this! The Conglomerate entails beauty, fashion, money, drama, love and excitement in abundance. The vices for me was the label dropping, which was in overkill for me...I would have loved to see more character development. I can only recall one visual painting of the characters...the storyline's flow was so smooth that I was halfway finished before I realized this...so I had to go back in all my Tazzyenezz. Incomplete subplots were a bit distracting but I will attribute that to the fact that there is a sequel following this read. All in all, Danielle made that pearlized pen gleam with her signature style!!!! YAAASSSSS...she did that! This was mos def an enjoyable read. 4***
Let me start this with was a worth the wait type of book. Every chapter had you begging for more. Danielle pulled you in and made you apart of each scene. If your adrenaline isn't pumping, eye balls don't get wet, or you first isn't balled up then you downloaded the wrong book. LMAO. I HATE SO SEND OUT SPOILERS BUT KISA KANE IS BACK. Danielle I can't wait for part 2 of this story because baby Jason is about to give it to Cee, Joey just may listen to Zay from now on, and I already know Tony is about to handle something because the Game Has changed but he is about to Get back in it while is brother lays low. Just my thoughts Lol. Congrats awesome awesome work!!!!
This was a really good and drama filled read. Evan drove me straight crazy, Joey seemed kinda sneaky at times, and Cee seems like the one I would be cool with. Even with this in mind these girls remained true to their friendship until somebody's past came back to haunt them all. I had a problem with all of the label dropping in this book. That truly drove me crazy because I didn't care about the name brands they wore as it didn't add to the story after the first time the labels were mentioned.
This is the first Danielle Santiago book that I literally wasn't able to put down. It had me guessing and is pretty suspenseful. I do take issue with every 5 minutes being told how stunning the protagonists are... From other people's pov, from their own pov. We get it. Quite frankly it wouldn't matter to me anyway. But, this is going to make me look forward to her next book.
Danielle Santiago has penned an amazing novel of deceit, treachery & greed. Friendships are tested. Relationships are questioned. Through it all, I was completely blown away. I can't wait to read a new book from her!
Not what I’ve encountered in a book before now. Drug dealing and its consequences from the inside. Nothing soft here except mothers’ love for their children. Lotsa’ revenge and blood. And a decent mystery. The women are tough, dress in $10,000 outfits, and are as ‘ as down wit it’ as the men. Doubt if I’ll pursue the series. Too much scofflaw activity.
After borrowing from the library, listening to the audiobook, then buying two copies of THIS Book, I STILL Couldn't get into the storyline of THE CONGLOMERATE. I don't know why but I just couldn't identify with any of the characters in this book.
I LOVED THIS BOOK! it was the perfect amount of action and relationships. The story unraveled more and more and I can’t wait to read the follow up. The editing issues were a mess though. That’s why I took off a star.
OMG this is a great book I loved Grinding and Allure to the Game by Danielle Santiago she a great author. It about 3 childhood best friends who been thru a lot to get where they are today. Evan was one of the trio whose past digression put all of the friends and their families at risk. She was the event planner who planned all their major events. Cee was a popular hairstylist who was in high demand from her celebrity clientele. Joey is a fabulous club promoter. The group of the trio form the The Luxe Group Conglomerate. Evan shady past with Gage 10 years ago she graduated college and her side hustle was robbing major drug dealers. Little did her friend know she killed two men Marshawn and Gage she assume didn't die. Next it was a lot of fatal accident Cee husband Petey and one of the security staff was shot and killed Perry was fatally wounded and on life-support he died. Zay 's Joey husband stash house was robbed and is cousin got shot and someone from security detail got killed. This novel is full of twisted turns and a unexpected ending I didn't see coming I didn't like the ending it has to be another book. Joey got brutalized by one of her clients tried to rape her Dawhart was intense fight for life. Joey husband warned her about Dawhar lusting after her.Joey found someone hack their security system and know where they were at all time. Evan was knocked unconscious outside their business. Someone unknown was stalking her for months she had someone inside their Conglomerate sabotage their business. Come to find out it was Isadora infiltrated the club she was Marshawn sister she saw the ladies leaving the scene after her brother killed.
This was a good page turner. The characters are all on point, Evan though could've been a little more upfront with her friends when things started getting a little out of control, because they could've just left her high and dry.. Then again I think her man may have done that part idk the ending kinda threw me off
This book is about three best friends as they start a business . As they start the business secrets of one the friends past affects not only her life but her other friends. The plot was good. I enjoyed the storyline.
This story was gripping from start to finish. The author has created an utterly great story of girl friends who share life journey in an explosion of lies betrayal love and family
