If the top things you look for in your sci-fi are...
Action.Action.Action!...then welcome to your next binge read.
This series is an homage to the thrilling pulp sci-fi of yesteryear. Hard science fiction aficionados may want to steer their ships to other galaxies. But if you crave high-stakes battles, unexplored worlds, and encounters with bizarre lifeforms, this is for you!
I actually was intrigued by the title, Firestorm, expecting it to be referring to some kind of military clash. Instead it referred to a very interesting group of five planets and the mysterious force that seems to be interacting between these planets. And it is here that a space anomaly deposited Aaron Decosta on a desert like planet with some very weird aliens. Space anomalies are exactly that...anomalies. seldom understood and often as dangerous as can be. Yet this is exactly Michael Decosta, father of Aaron, would venture into for the sake of rescuing his son. But space anomalies are by far too unpredictable sometimes. As Michael soon discovers when he crashed on a planet as well, but in the midst of So, Firestorm somehow also seems to also confirm my original idea of the title. Just too bad for Michael. The nine books in the series are full of intrigue, one breathtaking scene quickly followed by the next as aliens become friends, all opposing a growing tyranny. So, my original expectation eventually proved true anyhow.
Another great read by Daniel Young. The action never seems to end as the crews bounce around the planets they find themselves stranded on. Meeting all sorts of new aliens around each each bend, they quickly form friendships with several specific species that are trustworthy. With these aliens help the crew help the various alien gangs from the four planets mount a rebellion against the invading craseus invaders. From special friendships, to bitter enimies, the crew must stick together to survive to find a way back to their own space system. But until then they must survive and avoid capture and execution by the currently oppressive insectoid invaders. At the same time the crew assists the alien gangs in their rebellion against the oppressive invaders. Firestorm is a never ending read full of twists and captivating turnes.
I have read all nine books and posted a review on each and everyone of them. What a series.
The author uses his remarkable gift to take the reader on a virtual adventure where treachery, savageness, wondering who to trust, being separated, and the fact that no regard for human life are the norm for the civilizations they encounter.
Written in the atmosphere where a father will risk everything to save his only son,The plot is perfectly written.
Great read by a great author, a page turner and I look forward to read the next book in the series while I rate this book 5 stars and highly recommend it.
Well, I really enjoyed this series up till the end. This is the first series from Daniel Young where I really didn't like the ending. The story was very good, the characters were interesting, the aliens were interesting. There was lots of betrayal, all from the other humans. Except for the doctor, every female character dies. It was like the crew was not meant to be happy with a mate. Steven King would be pleased, however, I was not. If you are a fan of Steven King and William Shakespeare then this is your style, but I am not fond of tragedies.
An excellent story. Professional service personal, technicians and engineers. Lost in another galaxy. Wonderful planning of aliens, and humans working together. Emotions interfering in battle plans . Families working together. Facing warring factions continuously. A brilliant fast well written story. I kept reading until it finished. Couldn't put it down. I'd give it 10 stars if I could.
I really enjoyed this series about a father and son and the journey they end up on. Lots of drama, danger, fighting, surprises and aliens to round things out. I laughed and groaned but was entertained with the fast paced trouble that the Decosta's found themselves in. Had to see how it all played out and how it would end. Especially wanted to see if Michael would find his son Aaron.
I will finish this set as I can't abide unfinished reads, I'm 1\2 through the set, but to come here to comment, the constant repitition of the same scenarios is soul destroying, 4 books of the same old with no progress to the overall plot and storyline. I would be hard pressed to recommend it to anyone Sorry
This book kept you interested from page 1 all the way through all 9 books And write up till the last page Edge and in Edge and in suspense about what was Edge and in suspense about what was gonna It kept you on edge and in suspense about what was gonna happen Right up to the end ITITIT was very good and I'm glad I read it
An unbelievable series that will take you through space with a father and son. Looking for his son, defying orders, there’s danger everywhere. Will he find his in time. Outstanding to the very last word. Absolutely thankful for these two authors.
I loved reading this from start to finish. Characters were resilient and committed either to themselves, their crew members or civilians. So entertaining.
I got so frustrated. Too many species and names I couldn’t pronounce. I got tired of it. Plot too slow. Too much fighting back and forth. Get on with it.
Another rollicking good yarn from Mr.Young. Thoroughly entertaining. A classic example of a wildfire of imagination. Can’t wait to read more of his work.
