If this terror is unleashed by the Monarchists, it will mean the end of the Restoration and death for thousands all across the Lowlands. To stop it, Thomas must face an awful he may not be able to save both those he loves and stop the great evil. But to fail at either will destroy him.

I'm amazed by Brett's ability to pull together all the treads of his Quest of Fire series. If you enjoy reading an epic fantasy, along the lines of Lord of the Rings, this series is for you.

The battle between the forces of Light and Darkness, of Good versus Evil, continues in Book Six, Devastation. Eighteen-year-old Knight of Light Thomas Fenwrest, battles the forces of darkness as a servant of the High King, filled with hope then despair as he strives to protect those he loves.

Although a fantasy, Brett has woven spiritual truths into the plot. His characters display the strengths and weakness of the human race. Thomas has difficult choices to make, and he grows in his spiritual journey.

There was something about this one ... I think it may be my favorite in the series thus far. It definitely sets us up well for the finale. The imagery in this story is beautiful, and it leaves you hope-filled even while dealing with war and death of some of the characters. I can't wait to see how the author wraps this series up.

A good read.

This is an action-packed page-turner. And even through all the action, the characters are people of depth and complexity. One of the best entries in the series so far.
