The fourth installment of Jordan Rivet's The Lost Clone series, Exile, packs a serious punch. From the moment Jane, Dean, and her batchmate Sully set off for the United West, the tension escalates as they must stay hidden from the Agency and keep their true identities secret.

Jane is determined to rescue another batchmate, but when her plan goes awry, they find themselves on the run again. Despite the setback, they manage to track down yet another batchmate, who leads them far from the central city of the United West. Just when it seems Jane has hit the jackpot, the Agency's reach proves greater than expected, throwing them into even more danger.

This story twists and turns like the winding railroad through the Colorado Rockies, and Rivet handles every curve with expert precision. I sped through this book, pulled from one page to the next like metal to a magnet.

That said, if you haven’t read the first three books, you might feel a bit lost. Do yourself a favor and catch up before diving into this one—it’s well worth the journey.

I was fortunate to receive an ARC for my honest review, but I’ll be buying a copy anyway—it's that good.

Exile, book four in the Lost Clone series, picks up right where book three left off and sees Jane and her allies racing to save her last known batchmate. There is a high speed car chase in the first few chapters and the ride continues to be as fast paced and wild throughout with an abundance of danger, intregue, subterfuge and a drop of romance. It was great to see more of the world beyond Grid City and New State as Jane travels accross the continent. Seeing more of the world helps Jane define her goals and really sets everything up for a great final book. Overall a wonderful and thrilling addition to an absolutely fantasic series. I can not wait for the next installment to find out how Jane's story ends and also so sad it will be the last book.

I received an ARC and leave an honest review.

This book is another great development in the Lost Clone series. Things slowed down in some ways, but the stakes also raised in other ways. It is so fascinating to see so many conflicting motivations - within Jane and with everyone around her who she's trying to work with - collide. She had to make some big choices and I loved her growth from them. Plot wise, this book was definitely staging for the final book, but Jane is so fascinating that I didn't care and I had a good time anyways. I can't wait to see how this all ends!

“If only modern high speed travel were a little slower.”
Chap 1 not much of a catch up in series I last was reading in June, catch ups sprinkled as story goes on
Arrive in united west/New Vegas to save last clone batchmate Jayna from potential decommission but too late, but spirited out by Janelle/Elle another batchmate who lives with their original mom age January
Jane says she knew what it was like to grow up not knowing your purpose… like the nonclones did
Big plans at the end - for the next book!

Wonderful work. I have loved every book in this series, including this one. Action packed adventure from start to finish.
Unlike some books in a series you are NOT left with such a cliffhanger that it spoils the read. Yes it’s obvious the story continues but the book stands on its own merits. It still convinces me that there actually ARE clones.
Once again no spoilers from me just a 100% recommended read for a great story.
You won’t be disappointed.

I started reading The Lost Clone series by Jordan Rivet with book one Replacement thanks to the SPSFC-3 competition. It was such a fun easy read, I knew I'd be looking to continue when my TBR began to free up a bit. That was near the end of 2023 and then last year I read both books two (Batchmate) and three (Insider). I continue to enjoy the series. I was looking to fill a prompt for a readathon here in 2025 and book four Exile fit quite nicely.

This also allowed me to get fully caught up with this series, at least for the moment.

The pacing of this series up to and including Exile has simply been a breath of fresh air for me. I've utilized the audiobooks narrated by Talon David for each of the first four books now. She gives an excellent performance for each one. The story is very easy to follow along and though I personally categorize this as a bit of a Young Adult series I don't know if that is intended or simply because the majority of the characters are younger and how easy of a read it is.

I'm not knocking this at all by saying that. These books have filled a void quite nicely when I needed a break from epic reads that would take me weeks to get through. I also really enjoy the mystery thriller side of The Lost Clone series. It definitely gets me guessing and waiting to see if those guesses end up correct or not by the end.

The world building is an interesting futuristic society that even though there is plenty of technology, this world still has very similar issues we see in our own modern society. The tech offers plenty of interesting science and gadgets to keep fans of the science fiction genre happy. Both the author and the narrator do an amazing job bring this world to life for my enjoyment.

Exile even goes as far as getting us out of the region we've spent most if not all of the story to this point. We get to experience entirely new geographical locations which is always a bonus. It's one thing to talk about those other areas of a world in a story but it means so much more when we finally get to those areas!

The character development was really good in Exile. We continue to see some serious growth from our Protagonist Jane but also some significant changes with other returning characters such as Dean. There is also a few new characters as there have been with each of the previous sequels. I mean the series is titled The Lost Clone so it kind of goes without saying there are clones in this story. The various Jane clones have all be very different from one another both in personality and their life goals. Some mesh well and others not so much.

If you've made it this far in the series are probably also aware the Jane clones are the only ones in this society. There are several different lines out there. There is a couple of really intriguing new characters and some we've either heard mentioned several times or just had a hint of that finally arrive in the fourth book.

At this point in the series, Jordan Rivet would have to take it in a drastically different direction for me not to remain on board for the long haul. I'm invested and really enjoying The Lost Clone series. It might not be my usual type of read but that's ok. It's good to venture out, try some new things and see if they work for you or not.

I would recommend this to readers of science fiction that like a tech heavy world on the surface but perhaps not getting over detailed on how said tech works. It just provides a nice backdrop for what I'd consider a Young Adult Mystery Thriller story.

Jane and her friends are back for more drama, danger, action, and surprises for all as they get to travel around and try to save the last clone. The fun was seeing if Jane and friends could save her and what surprises would show up. So much fun to read this next installment. I was glued to the end and enjoyed it all.

More Dean and Jane, new Batchmates, new allies, more action and chases and schemes! This series just gets better and better!
While some of Jane's companions annoy me, overall i enjoyed the story and where it's going. I can't wait for the final takedown and then hopefully.....more romance 🤭 hehe

Exile, by Jordan Rivet, is the 4th book in this exciting series. Just when I thought she couldn't possibly come up with something different to include in this series, Ms. Rivet surprises me yet again! Filled with danger, adventure, intrigue, subterfuge, murder, elation, dedication and even a tiny bit of romance, Exile has something for everyone. Searching for her batchmates, and inadvertently taking on the "baddies" of the New World, Jane puts herself in peril while trying to save her batchmates. At what point is the cost too much to pay?

Update: The audiobook is excellent! It is narrated very well making listening easy and enjoyable. I highly recommend it!
