Annie St. John and her sister catch the train to Seattle for an Alaskan cruise, but they only make it as far as Seattle...in 1906. Rory O'Rourke has no idea what to do with two women who claim they have traveled back in time, but his innate chivalry won't allow him to resist their pleas for help.
I've been writing romance fiction since 2006 and have published 20 books. I write time travel romances, contemporary romances, romantic suspense, and light paranormal romances (lovelorn ghosty stuff).
A gypsy at heart, I've lived in Aruba, Venezuela, Arizona and California (thanks to my parents, and in Guam, Wyoming, Washington State, Belgium, Washington D.C., Maryland, Montana, Turkey and Alaska (thanks to my time in the U.S. Air Force. Since then, I've lived in Idaho, Nebraska and Alabama in addition to visiting many more countries and states, and I'm determined to Goodreads friend everyone from all those places plus many more!
A Smile In Time is my favorite for this series so far. Its very different. Instead of just one person traveling back in time, it happens to 2 sisters, Annie and Marie. They find themselves in 1906 at the hands of Rory. He takes it upon himself to offer them assistance.
I have not read any books dealing with time travel where siblings travel together. It was quite a surprise twist. I loved this book. It was such a light and funny read. Poor Annie and all her accidents. I have to say I'm a bit clumsy so if I were travel in time I would be her.
This book was written so well. I love the old man in the book. The endings get me every time....Stormi
How wonderful this series is!! Annie and Marie St. James from Chicago are the latest time travelers to go from present day back to Seattle in the 1900's. Annie falls in love with their rescuer, Rory O'Rourke. Marie wants to go back to the future, Annie doesn't. Will they go?? Will they stay?? Can love keep one of them there?? A terrific story!!
A Smile in Time A Train Through Time Series, Book 3 By: Bess McBride
The time travel train transports Annie St. John and her sister, Marie to 1906 Seattle in the company of Rory O'Rourke, whom the met on the train. The ladies attempt to fit in to the past while trying to find a way home. Marie wants to go back as soon as possible, to her fiancee. Annie, not so much. They meet up with earlier travelers and learn the secret, but by this time Annie and Rory have fallen in love. The ups and downs and all around journey is a sweet clean historical fiction romance.
The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed. Susan Hegarty gives each character their own personality.
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
Actually this series should named " Morons through time or Prudes through times". To be fair, book 2 is not that bad. However, in this book, younger siblings are so annoying and immature for their age. Especially Marie. She is so vain and selfish. I am curious what kind of research did the author do before writing. I really enjoy the idea of travelling back in time by train ride but heroines and inpracticle over dramatic dialogues spoiled the stories.
There is just something so intriguing about this series. I just can't decide exactly what it is. I am drawn in every time. I love that there are previous characters that pop up in each book. The guy on the train really makes me smile. That poor guy keeps losing girls on the train...LOL! I can't wait to read the next book.
3.3 Maybe what doesn't let me enjoy these books is the fact that the characters never get a moment to know each other, they just quite literally fell in love at first sight.
The last of the time travel series. Tho one had a weaker story line than the previous two but I will still mid the series. Loved the historical content.
