When Wallflowers Dance: Becoming a Woman of Righteous Confidence

Rate this book
This ISBN is not a study guide When we were two, we were no longer babies-we were becoming little girls. And when we were thirteen, we were leaving childhood behind, becoming young women. But somewhere along the way, we stopped becoming. We became "un-women." Wallflowers who are just breathing and smiling and blending in to stay out of the way. That is not what God had in mind when He created us. He wants us to keep becoming. He wants us to become strong, decisive, wise, creative, passionate, courageous-all the things we've dreamed of becoming. When Wallflowers Dance is a fresh challenge to women who have lived hesitant, cautious lives but long to break free and dance! Using both Scripture and story, Angela Thomas addresses the attributes of "becoming" and the freedom we have in Christ to keep developing the characteristics that reflect our God-given longings.

This book really helped me focus on God's plan for my life. It has broadened my perspective on myself, people, and things. It has made me realize the importance of knowing that I am BEAUTIFUL, NEEDED and LOVED by HIM who is in Heaven. If you need a boost in your weariness, confidence, or you just want to know how to break free from the chains, I HIGHLY recommend this book. Angela Thomas is such a good author. She knows the importance of sticking with GOD through the highs and the lows. She knows how it feels like to be unloved, unimportant, and the "un-woman" in this society. But she wants you to know the gifts that God bestows on you.

A few years ago I joined a neighborhood bible study. We actually read this book instead of the bible. Though I had no real connection initially to the content, I found I was able to take away a good deal of insight into my own situation. I grew to be more appreciative of my own situation and empathetic towards others. I am so thankful for all I have. If I need change, I know it is only up to me. I can change me, no one else. I can change how I react to others, not how others act.

Good read.

Accidentally ordered this book thinking it was a study guide much like "Stronger" by Angela Thomas for our small study group. Took it chapter by chapter which I thought would be easy. Unfortunately, I had a hard time feeling "sucked in" to the book except for the first and the last chapters. I loved her book Stronger but When Wallflowers Dance I felt was a little lacking to capture the readers attention.

This doesn't go to say that she doesn't have very good points in this book. She definitely does and backs it up with plenty of scripture. It just wasn't what I was looking for.

This book magnifies the fact that God's desire is for us to live life and love life under the sun while we wait for His return. Even in the midst of chaos and confusion I can dance in the arms of the One who made me. "Dancing is about being held by the lavish love of God that heals your heartaches. It's about loving people and enjoying a grown up, passionate life, free of emptiness and fear. Inside the strength of His embrace, you can become the woman you have always wanted to be...the one He dreamed of when He dreamed of you." -Angela Thomas

I read this in one sitting. I love Angela Thomas' books, and this one had me taking notes and making myself feel not like I was putting on dancing shoes, but more like I was growing wings and that I'll be able to fly. I love her suggestion of taking time off of everything except what you HAVE to do. I've told people this is "my year" and I'm not doing anything beyond what I HAVE to unless I really want to do it! Great book, and excellent read for any woman who feels "tired" in life!

It wasn't bad. Some people commented that it didn't seem to fit them, but that's because you have to be in that place or have been in that place to understand what she is talking about. But I was disappointed because in the end it really talked about becoming a Christian and that wasn't what I needed. Even as a Christian, you can become like a wallflower in life. The main points I got from the book were affirming to what I felt God had been teaching me lately though.

I read this book as a book study in a small group this summer. The group was excellent! The book reminded me of Gods great love for me. "Closed position is not the only dance we can do with the King." "Allowing 'depenDANCE' to become my default step in the dance of life." Psalm 30a "You have turned my mourning into dancing ... And girded me with gladness."

Heard her speak. It is an interesting look at becoming the woman that God designed you to be. She speaks of the many women who get wrapped up in their many roles and forget who they are.
It seemed a bit redundant, so I stopped reading it.
